We stayed here as part of a 5-day and 4-night tour of Mount Rushmore. The place is not the best, but there was a small grocery store, a Pizza Hut, a Subway, and a Mexican restaurant nearby. The service was lacking; there were not too many people working there. The desk attendant was not friendly either. I saw a spill in the elevator that was not addressed until the next day. One of the beds also had a spring issue: unevenness when sleeping on it. Good thing we were staying only one night. Unlikely we will be going back there again. read more

I try to avoid stopping in Gillette, I will stop earlier or take a different route because of bad hotels. I took a chance this time and it worked out for me. This place is in a good location near the interstate and with a few restaurants close by. The hotel lobby and the hallways were clean. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I don't have to avoid Gillette any longer while on the road. read more

My friends and I stayed for one night at this hotel and we had the best experience duyring our 10 day roadtrip. Am sorry for not getting the young girl's name who checked us in but she was very helpful with our needs. Susan at the breakfast room was very attentive to the customer's needs in the dining room. She made sure the food was refilled and the dining taables clean. There was a Patfinder Camporee going on and we had the best turkey pattie, and turkey sausage. This Comfort Inn is a pretty nice break from many of the run down hotels in Gillette. The only downfall is that their rates swing dramatically with the "expected" room demand, but the place is generally empty. They have nice, hot breakfast. The rooms are clean and always comfortable. The pool is finally fixed for the swim buff and there's also a non intimidating work out facility inside to get random travelers like myself to try to burn off some of the junky road food that we consume too often. This place is owned by a couple of people that typically man the desk, so they're easier to get along with than one might expect. Because this place is so sporadically filled with guests, I'd personally recommend randomly showing up here and haggling with the desk clerk for a descent rate. For the actor types out there, when haggling for your rate, imagine you're bargaining with street vendors in an alley, and you could get out with a bill as little as $50 for the night! NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE ONLINE BECAUSE IT'S A RIP OFF!!! Always call or stop by. read more

Hotel is easy to find, right off the freeway on the west side of town. Property is well maintained and the rooms are spacious and clean. A bit of traffic noise but that never bothers me. The bed is comfortable, and the old-school air conditioner keeps the room cool with a steady blast of frigid air. read more

We traveled during COVID and as soon as we pulled into the parking lot, I had to apologize to my children for booking a motel with an indoor water park because there was no way we were going to play in it. Be aware of this if it's something your kids will be sad about. Now for the actual motel... Check in was fine. The motel was fully booked that night, and we were in the main hallway to the water park. The rooms were quiet. We left to eat dinner and check out a car show going on. When we came back, there were adults partying on the patio leading into the lobby. No biggie, but the trash situation was. I wanted to buy a postcard to write about our day, the guy at the front desk had no idea how much they cost. It took an unreasonable amount of time to resolve this. I finally left him $.50 for one and asked him to call me if I owed more. No complaints on room quality or cleanliness. Breakfast was grab and go. We mostly took waters and ate at McDonalds on the way to the highway. read more

A very nice hotel in Gilette,WY. Many if not all of the rooms are suites. My room was also one but nothing extremely fancy like having a kitchen or anything like that. My room cost one hundred and fifty a night and while I am well aware that hotels change their rates often I think I got a good deal. I also had a very nice continental breakfast which was not just coffee and a roll but a real breakfast as well as a nice big pool, hot tub and internet. There is also a fitness room but I did not take advantage of that. Very nice stay that I had while on my "staycation". read more

What to do when your tired and you just want a clean, safe hotel for a decent price and all the hotels in town have scary reviews. This is the place to stay. With all the bad reviews for Gillette we almost just kept driving. But there were a few good reviews for the Comfort Inn so we took a chance. Nice clean lobby, warm welcome from front desk clerk, and a nice large, clean WARM room.. All interior hallways, indoor pool and exercise room ( didn't use it but probably should have.) The BEST part : breakfast !!!! Large comfortable room tons of options including eggs, sausage, waffles, toast. Yogurt , fruit. Lots of food.. The young lady working kept everything well stocked and clean.. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT : add a tip jar in the breakfast room. They do a great job and deserve at least tips for good service. read more

This is a very nice Comfort inn in Gillette! It even has an elevator, not like the one in Billings where you have to drag your suite case a flight of stairs. The only drawback is that the tv didn't have a satellite signal! So no tv at all!!What a time to change companies, especially when I'm staying here and paying $159. A night! Ugh !! Comfort Inn and Suites was exactly what our family needed after a long day on the road. With ages ranging from 12 to 80 there was something for everyone. The hotel was air conditioned, rooms were spacious, and staff was friendly. The rooms were well priced, especially for a place with a fitness center and a pool! The pool and hot tub was a perfect way to unwind, and the hot tub didn't hurt either. A complimentary breakfast was served, and being a health conscious vegetarian, I really appreciated the variety in choice. The hotel isn't quaint, historic, or charming, but it was certainly a treat. The lady at the front desk was friendly and quick. Although the room was not spacious, it had everything I could imagine wanting: mini fridge, microwave, ironing board, etc. The room was warm and welcoming and very clean. The only thing to complain about, a big deal to me, was the noise. My room was "garden level" which meant my window sat at sidewalk level. I'm not sure if someone chose to shovel ice off the walks after ten, but it sounded like they were scraping and banging on my window. This, in combination with slamming doors, noisy heater, and loud talkers in the hall, kept me from sleeping until after midnight. Breakfast was nice and shower was ok (water saving shower heads felt like it). Overall, my stay was okay. I'd probably spend an extra $20 and stay somewhere else if it was quieter. read more

Room was clean, smelt good, and big. Beds were comfortable, I especially loved the down pillows. But more than anything I liked the front desk service man John Dana. He helped me fax out to my office (not just a few sheets either) without question and eagerly. The last hotel I was at tried to charge me 50 cents per page! Not only that but he kept it organized and even attached a confirmation sheet on top so I knew it got sent! Business center was accommodating, printer had issues but I liked how there were staples and paper clips (something I had been running low on and absolutely need to stay organized). read more

Pleasantly surprised! 2 queens beds in room with couch, microwave, fridge, and free wifi. Free breakfast in the morning that included muffins, toast, yogurt, waffles (plain and blueberry), cereal, juice, coffee, and more! We went swimming and were again happy to see that the pool was salt water not chlorine. Our 4 month old could be in the room and not have to inhale the chlorine fumes like other hotels. They also had a handicap chair for both the pool and hot tub. Great stay! read more

I always stay in this hotel when I go to Gillette. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are always very clean. The pillows are a little lumpy, but I'm not complaining since that means they probably wash them. The only bummer is that the elliptical and treadmill in the gym don't work. read more

Nice enough hotel - was completely renovated, which was great. On our trip, we originally went to a room that smelled reaaallly funky. It was raining outside, and I noticed the carpet was wet. It smelled like mildew, so I assumed there was a leak. We went downstairs and asked to change, and was told that the carpets had just been cleaned, and we were in a room that hadn't quite dried out yet. No worries, I give them kudos for keeping maintenance up to date. We moved to a dry room, and like the other, it was HUGE. Very big room. Nothing fancy inside, but definitely clean and had what you needed. The breakfast downstairs in the morning was fantastic - lots of choices, and the room was vacant, so it was nice and quiet! Major bummer: The checkout in the morning - nobody was at the front desk and we rang the bell to leave - the girl who came to the desk (didn't catch a name) looked put-out and annoyed that we needed something. Took a good 15 minutes to check out. Overall, this place is good, I'd stay again. read more

Very disappointed. Bad beds. Last night stayed in the Comfort Inn in Dickinson, ND. The beds were wonderful - choice of pillows, down comforter, and luxurious soft mattress. No so in Gillette WY, old blankets and old pillows and old mattress. Obviously there are no franchise standards. They lost my loyalty with a really bad bed where I spent 8 uncomfortable hours.
