The couple running the place were very kind to me- she used to live near me in LA and engaged me in convo... The place is two blocks from the Main Street and super easy access to: marina/park/swimming pool/restaurants/bars. The room was a basic, but clean and quiet with a good AC and new flat screen with viewability from the bed. Pleasant, not fancy. Parking worked out fine- it's a small lot. read more

GOOD VALUE. Surprisingly clean, but small; just enough for what we needed: a bed. The entire room and bathroom were very clean. The shower did get stopped up a bit after running for a minute and that was a big disgust having an inch or two of drain water at your feet. Pillows were comfortable though, and the ac got really cold. Short walk to the beach and pier. Depending on your room location you may hear cars zipping by on Cabrillo St. Hot tub did not look healthy and we didn't try it. There was somebody's lunch or breakfast sitting on the rim of the hot tub and we figured whomever was swimming dissolved into the water. Great place, great location, great price. This is your typical Days Inn. Everything you need in a hotel minus the microwave.(No microwave) The room was clean, The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels, air conditioner worked great. Free continental breakfast was ok, just muffins, wrapped pastries, coffee, cereal, boxed juices and no bagels or bread for toast :( I was hoping for a bagel at least. Kind of shabby but free none the less. Close to walk and rent bikes if you want to go to the zoo or just bike on the beach or even all the way to the bird refuge (which is what I did). Close enough to walk to the beach and pier, some of the wine tasting rooms and a couple of restaurants. There is also a 7-11 just up the street within walking distance. Days Inn is located right across from a park. I saw some homeless people hanging out there, but they looked harmless. There were also families playing baseball there at the park. The walls of the hotel are a bit thin, you can hear people opening and closing doors, but nothing too bothersome. I gave it a four because you can't beat the price and location. I think it was $100-110 per night weekday, I was here on a Thursday. I wanted to also add on a night (Friday) and they jacked up the price to $150 then later the next day while checking out Friday morning, I asked the front desk how much for the night and she told me it was now $175! I also just looked online and saw $182 for a Friday night! So....book early and try a week day if you want to get the best deal. This was the cheapest/decent place I found in town and was worth $110 per night....but for $182 I'd stay elsewhere. read more

I enjoyed my stay here recently. A little pricier than other Days Inn locations, but what do you expect? It's Santa Barbara. Hotels are pricey here. I would stay here again when in the area. This place was definitely a disappointment. We showed up for a family vacation and the hotel is conveniently located next to the beach and shops. There's a park right across the street with people playing baseball which was fun to watch. When we went into our room it was to be expected for an older hotel. We saw blood on our pillow and comforter! It looked like it had been there for a little while. The first night we stayed I woke up with a lot of bug bites on my legs, arms, and back. Thought maybe it was just my luck. The next night we stayed I woke up with even more bite and my husband and son woke up with bites as well! I've tried to contact the hotel about this and they will not answer me. Very disappointing way to end our vacation. read more

The location is really good, on State Street, at the north end of the shops and restaurants. We needed a Suite and this was one of the only affordable options near State Street. The building is old, which I don't mind as it was kept up relatively well. Cool MCM architecture! The service was great! The biggest issue and the reason I give only 3 stars is that the room smelled like musty cigarette smoke. Gross! Overall, for the price it was okay. But we would not stay there again due to the smell in the room. read more

Tidy, neat and clean. The basics. Play all day, sleep here at night. It was perfect for that. I will definitely stay here again as we walked 95% of the Time. and Local cheap transportation was right there as well. This is a reasonably priced motel (for Santa Barbara) within 1/2 a block of the beach. The Internet is decent. This is where the good news ends. The rooms are tiny. The beds are so soft they're like half inflated air mattresses. The noise from our neighbors talking quietly, traffic, and the train came right through the walls. The coffee maker only has coffee (no decaf, tea, etc) and has nowhere to plug in nearby. The continental breakfast is a joke. The lights are motion sensitive so when you turn over in bed the lights come on. Towels are rough like Motel6 towels. I booked for two nights but really wanted to cancel the second night and find something better but it turns out my reservation cannot be cancelled. This motel must be on the very low end of the Days Inn spectrum. I really expected something better from them. read more

Staff is super friendly. Rooms are very basic, but what you should expect for the price. Great place to crash after a long day of touring Santa Barbara. The biggest plus is location. A short beautiful walk from the beach/ pier. If you want a lil luxury, a real breakfast and a view of the ocean, I recommend Milo. I've stayed there when I was a richer man. As the others said--nice, clean, perfect location for the $$! My girlfriend and I have found that this location is just absolutely PERFECT! We just rented bikes for 3 days and have found that the location is so easy to get in and out and when you are having a little bit too much to drink (even for the bike!) walking distance is perfect to and from the State St. scene! The ONLY beef I have with this place is that the Day's Inn site said it has a hot tub/pool. Yes, there is a hot tub--big, deep and round...really good one in fact! But they consider the hot tub a pool too???? LOL...where is the pool? Doesn't bother us but just for the record! Stay here! parking is heaven.... read more

The others nailed it. Not the fanciest hotel, but it is clean and the location is great, close to State Street and the ocean. There is a shower, not a tub, and no fan in the bathroom, but a window. Continental breakfast consisted of some Nature's Valley granola bars, packaged muffins, and some juice boxes. read more

My AirBnB host cancelled on me as I was driving down to Santa Barbara at 8pm!! I found this hotel near the water and near food & drink. Even thought it wasn't on the water, it wasn't very far. It was clean, quiet, and had a bed. That's all I needed. read more

Yes the room was small but adequate. The bed was comfortable, the ac was quiet, the shower was roomy with plenty of hot water and everything was clean. There was free wi-fi and HBO. There was a good sized frig even. The breakfast was mostly juice and pastries but we took ours with us so we could eat it on our trike ride on the bike path and went over to Sambos On The Beach for a great breakfast. We had minor problems with starting the Jacuzzi but the manager helped us solve that situation. Also we were no where near the ice machine so there were no noise problems. The only real noise was from the baseball game across the street and that was only during our first evening there. We loved being able to park right in front of our room. And we were within a block of the bike path and Castillo had a well marked bike lane. I will definitely stay there again. read more

Right in between everything. Fast checkin, nice staff and parking right outside the room. You get what you pay for they say, but i was pleased with the room and had no concerns. Decor was updated and not as old as the pictures showed. Walking distance to Main street, beach and restaurants. I chose this days inn after I had a great experience at a days inn up north and was not disappointed. It was everything a little place like this should be: comfortable, quiet, easy, and affordable. We didn't have a single problem during our stay here. Reception was very friendly and our room was clean and everything in it worked. It's very close to state street but the area is quiet. You do get sound leakage from outside but the only thing that bothered us was that it was a very windy night. No noisy neighbors despite it being spring break. This is one of the cheaper choices in Santa Barbara, I would definitely stay again. read more

Good for what it is: low cost basic overnight bed near downtown Santa Barbara. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and everything works. Hot water, towels and beds were all fine. They are near the beach and have a little hot tub area that, while austere, is functional. Wifi works and they had a nice sized in-room fridge. The breakfast was mostly packaged sweet rolls, but better than going hungry. The coffee left me desperately craving Starbucks, but again, better then nothing. Parking and WiFi were included - some hotels are now trying to charge extra for such basics, this place is more honest. I Tried booking an online reservation. When we clicked make reservation after filling out all information fields. Website refreshed with, "currently our internet reservation is offline, you must call to make reservation." Well at that point we put our drinks down and decided to Finish our trip into L.A. After checking my bank statement I realized I was in fact charged as a "no show". So after speaking with employee of branch as well as corporate. I was informed they are keeping my money. They were great! We checked in at about 3 AM and although I woke them up he was very courteous and got us checked in quick! Breakfast is simple- pastries juice and coffee but it was a great way to start the day! Walking distance to the beach and harbor. After reading these reviews of the negative I'm appalled people can be so critical. It's a Days Inn not a 5-star resort. I wouldn't even give this place one star but you have to to write this review. I get there and attempt to check in, give maybe a deposit since I noticed that my card was charged earlier in the day for the full amount. They attempted to run my card again for $453 and it would not go through. I asked them why they are running my card for that amount when I had already paid. They said it had not been paid, so I logged onto my bank account to show them the charge and the guy refused to look saying "he did not trust my computer" then his wife started talking to me about what declined means as if I'm some sort of an idiot. I told them forget it and left, worst customer service ever. I would never recommend this place to anyone and if I've stayed many places in SB, this place is the worst. The worst stay I have ever had. First of all the manager was completely rude, he came to me very arrogantly, he even raised his voice at me when all I was saying was okay to him. and told me that one of our 2 cars had to be parked on the street due to high occupancy, when I woke the next morning the same exact 5 parking spaces were still open. Besides the strict parking and rude manager, I came to my hotel at about 11pm one night and my key wouldn't open my hotel room door so I went to the front desk and no one was there(keep in mind the front desk is it's own building and it was locked) I was stuck outside and I called over and over again from the phone outside the door and no one answered. I went to my car until about 1:40am when I tried again to call the front desk for another 15 minutes and finally the man answered startled as if he just woke up. With an attitude and without checking my Id he made me a new key. No discount was offered or anything for the night I was almost locked out of my own room because the front desk decided to take a nap. My keys have had to be changed multiple times. This inn is over priced for the lack of customer service and rude manager. I would give this inn a 0 but it's not available read more

Even though this is a motel type place, the hotel is super clean, our room was so comfy and inviting. The proprietors are friendly and welcoming. They let us check in early without an extra charge. It's centrally located. We were able to walk everywhere. I will definitely return! read more

There's two Days Inn in Santa Barbara. We stayed on the Days Inn on State street. (I couldn't find the listing for that one) They need to better advertised their entrance and place. We almost drove past the hotel until one of us recognize the hotel from their website. The good part was the hotel was conveniently located on State Street (Santa Barbara downtown area) where restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping, and attractions were a short walk away on State Street or nearby. Saved money on gas. :) The bad part was the hotel advertised microwave and their was none. Not even in the lobby. Overall, the hotel was average. Nothing special. The pool was heated at night and opens till 9pm. Continental breakfast with wrapped muffins. read more

I was here mid week, and the service was horrible. Clearly they are used to just packing people in here and then not providing any additional help. I'm from here, a local Santa Barbaran and own a business here. I feel badly for people that stay here and think this is the way we treat guests. There are hotels an either side of this hotel that I recommend instead: Lavender Inn Avania Inn both on Castillo Street. I even told the owner/manager that I was unhappy and pointed out way, he shrugged and clearly did not give a darn. The Days Inn on Castillo Street is not a particularly nice place (not saying it's bad) - just your average old motel - but we were impressed by how clean and quiet it was. It does get noisier after 7 or 8 in the morning. The rooms are all single-story with parking right in front of the rooms. The room was nicer than the pictures show online and was easy walking distance to the beach/marina, restaurants and Avis (which we had a need to use this trip). We were there on a Sunday in November, and considering the price we paid and location, this place was perfect. read more

Bed bugs!!! Do I have to say more. I can. Woke up at 2:30am to some itchy feelings and flipped the light on to find I was the main course for a bunch of bed bugs. I pulled the mattress back from the wall and there was a colony of them back there waiting their turn. Needless to say, I didn't even try to get back to sleep. Took two showers, put on clothes that had were in the truck, and hit the road by 3:15am. Not the best way to get a jump on the day, but effective. I left a note in the room and a message with the front desk. Hopefully they make some changes, because it does have the great location the other reviewers have talked about. Now I have to worry about bringing the infestation back into my own house. read more
