So, the server's name is Gina...i heard it wrong. She is still awesome and the food, beer and service was the best ever!!

Holsteiner Schnitzel and Two Wurst Platter

Schnitzel and Spaetzle were delicious. I wish my egg was cooked a little longer. Beer was great! Service was great! I was not impressed with the pretzel that came with the Platter. Seems like a frozen pretzel. Surprised it wasn't a better quality pretzel like a mini version of the pretzel appetizer.

Wursts, pretzels, spaetzel, the exceptional Keller salad and a terrific black beer.

The food and drinks at the Steinkeller are always top-notch and reasonably priced. I love wursts so I typically get the Double Wurst Platter and my partner gets a spaetzle. The pretzels are pretty perfect and the beer selection is appropriately huge. Not a fan of their particular German potato salad, but that's no big deal compared to the rest of the food (sauerkraut balls!!). Casual dining and if Gina is your server, buckle up

Good times at Steinkeller and although not perfectly authentic German it's the best in the area. It's a huge Miami University hang. Likely due to the 40 oz steins of beers, incredible portions of food and their beloved pretzels. The restaurant is located uptown Oxford off the main drag on the basement. The location makes it an interesting experience. There is good signage to find them if walking. However if driving you cannot see the sign. My family attended on Thursday schnitzel night. They have a variety of the traditional German dish. Service at the hostess station was professional as we were put on wait. With a wait we headed to the bar for an Octoberfest brew that was great! Service was friendly. We also ordered a pretzel that was recommended by the bartender. Our wait was short and we were seated in a booth with menus. Our waiter was attentive to getting drinks. There was a lot to review, but ultimately we found that the focus was on schnitzel. Our waiter returned with the pretzel and two schnitzels and a pulled pork was ordered. The pretzel came hot with cheese and spicy mustard. So dang yummy! Our orders came out within 20 minutes and delivered by a runner. Water refills were performed shortly after. Everyone enjoyed what they had. My dish was a breakfast pork schnitzel. The egg over easy on the top was perfect! It was good, not great. Our waiter checked in again. Our bill was closed timely and the price affordable for a large amount of food. Service was a 5. Atmosphere 4 Food 3. That's a strong 4. I would return.

Food was tasty and fairly representative of Germany. Poor service, never offered my drink refill, even after hand up in air numerous times

We went for brunch and I got the chickenzilla. It was good but definitely needed a sauce with it. My mom and sister both got the chicken and waffles and loved the hot honey syrup for it. The service was good. It was steady business while we were there.

First visit to Steinkellers for Sunday Brunch. Was a cool place. German atmosphere, super service, and a delicious German brunch.

Yum!! The chicken Spaetzle was comforting and very filling. I could only eat half of it. The pretzel was yummy and the hungover fries were gluttonous.

While visiting with some friends they pitched the idea to get brunch in Oxford. Hidden down some stairs in downtown Oxford you'll find the entrance to Steinkeller. We were seated right away by a friendly host. Our waitress greeted us quickly as we ordered mimosas and water. I chose the brunch special which was a potato, sausage, and poached egg. It was surprisingly filling for its size. It was super tasty and I'd definitely eat again. The decor is all authentic German and super cozy. They have a full draft menu along with cocktails. It's a really fun place to hang and have brunch.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Steinkeller this weekend. My partner and I were in Oxford for a quick trip and decided to try this place out. He had been here many times and recommended it. For starters, they have a great selection of German and local beers. I was a little disappointed that they were out of Spaten, but hey, it's because everyone loves it. So I had a big Palainer instead which was awesome. For lunch I wasn't too hungry so I had the amazing fresh pretzel with beer cheese that was so good! You could absolutely tell that this was the real deal and not some processed canned cheese. Seriously, so good. The service from the bartenders was super and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'd totally recommend Steinkeller and can't wait to come back for a full dinner.

    Do they take reservations?

I'm not sure. It might be a first come first serve business, but the place is rather large. If you have a large party, i would definitely call to see if they can accommodate it.

Some of the booths are German style, giving you a European feel. Madison, our server, was friendly and attentive. The servers know the regulars by name and welcome them warmly. We sat in a booth near the kitchen and could hear a lot of laughter coming from the cooks in the back. The place is jovial. We ordered the Chicken Dinner for Two ($32) which includes about 10 pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and choice of salad or slaw. This was a massive amount of food and could easily feed a family of four. The coleslaw was delicious, the best I've had in a while. The slaw was creamy and tart (not too sweet). The hand-breaded chicken is a winner in my book. The breading is crispy with lots of seasoning, especially pepper. The chicken is hot, moist and tender - perfectly cooked. This is some of the best fried chicken in the State. The potatoes and gravy are an indulgent treat for me. Yes, I had seconds. The green beans are cooked with bacon, yet light. My husband really liked the beans. We took half the meal home for dinner. The menu is German- themed, combined with traditional Hoosier classics. The Tenderlojn sandwich they serve put them on Indiana's Tenderloin Trail. I wanted to try the sauerkraut balls and pretzels, but I was too full. There is free street parking. There are tv monitors to watch the games at the small ball. Brau Haus is totally worth a visit.

The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. Wished I could have given a better review--sorry!

The breading had no seasoning. My husband (vegetarian) ordered the veggie melt, which was on the menu, but he was told they no longer make it. He ended up getting a "sides plate." When it arrived, there were 4 of the smallest portions of sides ever. Why not just make spaetzel a main dish? Voila, you have a vegetarian option!
