Stopped in on a random Wednesday evening. Two servers were handling the whole crowd and doing a bang up job. My burger was out quickly despite the busyness. Beer was tasty too! Just what I wanted. There was a seemingly random group of 10-15 people there too that got out their musical instruments after eating and starting playing some Irish jigs. It was a welcome surprise, and I have no idea if it's a regular occurrence. read more

Fifth street Brewpub is an awesome little neighborhood brew pub/restaurant! Everything about our visit here was perfect. From the amazing service, great beer and wonderful food this is truly a beautiful gem in town. The curds were awesome! We loved them. The Smashburger was juicy, well seasoned and perfect as well. The real gem of this pub was the service. The bartender was so friendly and amazing. We loved meeting her and listening to her suggestions! You've got a great ambassador there! Great neighborhood spot. I read that this is a dive bar- it is most definitely not a dive!! We heard good things about the food, so we came specifically for a drink and brunch. Breakfast special, salmon patty sandwich and chimchuri chicken with a fried egg...all plates were cleaned without a single complaint. Patio seating was the place to be on Sunday. Umbrellas help keep the direct sunshine at bay so you can enjoy the space. Friendly staff for sure. Great vibe! read more

My friends and I absolutely love Fifth Street Brewpub. We go to trivia every week, and we love the overall atmosphere, servers, food, and beers. However, the woman who runs trivia is our least favorite part about it, and I really wish that they would find somebody else to run trivia. She is often wrong, or extremely petty. Here are just a few question/answer examples: 1. "Name a fabric that is also a type of pie" - Her answer was something I had never heard of. I wrote "silk", and she did not accept that as correct, even though it is. 2. She played "I Walk The Line" by Johnny Cash and would not accept "Walk The Line". There was also one evening that she said something along the lines of "If you aren't here to play trivia, you can't stay", which would really irritate me as a business owner/server. It doesn't feel like it's her place to decide who can/cannot be a customer. Again, we love Fifth Street, and we love going to trivia, but she makes it feel hostile and unwelcoming. read more

Excellent! Had nice a Patty Melt sandwich with homemade chips paired with homemade delicious Mushroom soup. Yum yum! Drank Fifth Street's High Anxiety imperial stout (2022) and Strike Eagle ale imperial red ale. I closed with Noel a Belgian strong dark ale. read more

Dropped in during porch fest and was very excited for the cheese curds based on some other reviews here on Yelp (shoutout to Gregg L.). We also ordered the pretzels which were a little disappointing. The pretzels came out pipping hot, too hot to eat at least without burning your fingers, and they cooled off so quickly. I also would have liked to have had more cheese for dipping. The cheese curds were tasty and the sauces they come with are interesting a raspberry puree and some type of horseradish sauce I believe. I feel like the curds were enjoyed best when the sauces were mixed. Don't come for me at least try it before judging. The beer I ordered was some type of mango lime beer which I do not recall the name of, but it tasted exactly like juice. Very tasty. I would try here again for sure but I wouldn't order the pretzels again. read more

Another great spot in the growing list of area brewpubs!! Check it out for great brews, creative food offerings, and excellent service. I love the set up here, though I imagine it might get a bit more crowded if you're here on a busy night vs. our late afternoon/early evening Sunday visit. Parking might be tricky, but we got lucky!! I'd love to come back soon and try out their back patio and some more choices off of their tempting menu... The entire Dayton/Springfield region boasts a wonderful, emerging brewpub scene... Definitely something for everyone, whether you're a die-hard craft beer fan, or happy to be out and about in a place where everyone involved seems to be really dedicated to their craft and excited to share it with the community!! read more

Beer and food were solidly mediocre. Got a salad, burger, and pretzel and nothing really stood out. Could have gotten the food anywhere else in America. The beer was also mediocre. Not full bodied. Fifth Street Brewpub is a locally owned brewery. It started off as just a pub. Then a few years later they started making their own beers too. Everything so far has been good. They also have some better food options. I had the Brown Ale. It's about $6 a pint. This is a malty tasting ale, really good if you like this kind of thing. It has a good amount of in house. They didn't start off with brewing here but added it later. A few newer beers have been introduced. The Watermelon is one that seems to be popular. I also had some fries. These are about $3 for a pretty good amount, something good to snack on between sips. Bar has a pretty good atmosphere. Several TVs so you can watch games. The parking is tricky but you can park in the evenings on a few streets. read more

Went for a Sunday brunch; very disappointed. I guess it is more of a bar/pub sort of place. Took awhile to flag down a server even though there was only one other table of diners. Ordered a vegetarian omelette with home fries. The omelette was way over cooked..had a brown crust! The home fries were hard little cubes; probably poured from a freezer bag. Exchanged them for a fruit bowl that was even worse. The apple slices still had stems and seed cores attached, the orange slices weren't seperated and the blueberries were mushy. My companion ordered the French Toast and it had some sort of hard cooked egg custard on it...very strange. Wouldn't recommend it at all and certainly won't return read more

Wow. Really excellent food and beer. My wife got the "like a bat out of helles lime" and I got the pollinator dopplebock. Both fantastic beers. The helles has a great lime aroma but has a wonderful deep rich flavor and body (possibly more heavy than the style suggests but the lime pulls it all together.) The pollinator and I are in a Facebook official relationship now. That good. I'm normally not a fan of honey beers, but the flavor and aroma are centered closer to sweet ambrosic pollen rather than overly syrupy honey. Great body too (ironic since my love of beer has left me with a terrible body.) Now onto food. The pictures do not give justice. GET THE CHEESECURDS YOU FOOLS!!!! It's like the best fried cheese stick you've had combined with the best curd batter of your life. I think I grew a corkscrew tail oinking them up. The Reuben had a wonderfully tangy sauerkraut, some real-a$$ corn beef that knocks the socks off your local deli, and good smelling swirl rye brewed. My wife's iPA Caesar and potato leek soup were also excellent. Prices were pretty decent for quality and portions too. read more

Our return visit was let-down compared to the first. I'd been holding on to sweet memories of their bbq Pork Loaded Chips. I returned specifically to order them again. But they'd changed the Chip they used - it had been replaced with some thin, waffle chip that couldn't hold up to the toppings. They were all broken and crumbled underneath. Hubby ordered a fajita and was not impressed. Especially now that we no longer live in the neighborhood, I don't see us going out of our way to return any time soon. read more

This is a great little dive. My friends and I come here every so often. We're always seated right away and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the cheese curds and banana pudding, absolutely delicious! My favorite entree here is the Ghost Pepper BBQ Burger. I'm not one for extreme heat so I order it with regular cheese instead of the ghost pepper cheese, but regardless, it's absolutely delicious! Also, they have a super nice patio area where there is sometimes live music while you eat! read more

Very disappointing. Came on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 to a "dog friendly" place for dinner and a beer. Was turned away as dogs are only welcome on Wednesday and maybe Sunday no mention on their web site. The patio area was empty. Was told some "member owners" objected to dogs. Well Lock 27 doesn't have that problem and our weekly dinners out will not include 5th street on future evenings. read more

Fifth Street Brewpub was a cute little adventure. It definitely has some downsides (the largest being that it gets so loud with even a few tables occupied while inside), but it definitely shines in its community-focused approach and delicious beer. PROS: -Service was pretty amazing. When they served some food to our table, we noticed it wasn't quite what we had ordered. We were going to flag down the waitress to let her know, but the kitchen guy came out within a minute and let us know that he noticed the mix-up and would be fixing it shortly. You don't always get that type of pre-emptive and attentive service, so that was really nice. -Tablemate absolutely loved their burger. You don't always get the options of "ghostpepper cheese", so he took it, and he said it was absolutely amazing. -Their beer selections are nice too. There were enough different types to make everyone happy while all the beers taste pretty good. Their flights are a good option to try lots of different beers. Menus on your table make it easy to choose your beer selection. -Their outdoor patio looks amazing. We're reaching those cold temperatures, so nobody was outside, but it looks like being able to utilize the outdoor space likely really makes the interior area a lot less crowded too. -I loved the "small business, community-supportive" feel that the business has. It's the only co-op brewery in the area, and they have a ton of different things around the building that make it feel like it's definitely a community-focused business. There are names on the wall from initial supporters, artwork of what the building used to be before they bought it, brochures for various things going on in the area, and things like that. It has that "community cafe" atmosphere to it - which is really nice. CONS: -I haaaated the pretzels and beer cheese. To the point where I stopped eating them after the first one. They're not necessarily bad - just not for me. The pretzels are really, really crisp and tough on the outside, and the beer cheese has a very, very strong cheddar cheese taste to it. Neither are particularly bad, but I wouldn't get it again. On the bright side, that very same cheese seemed to work perfectly fine on the Mac and Cheese that I ordered instead. -The Fifty Street Brewpub does have a little bit of lot parking, but it's only a couple car's worth. Expect to be doing some street parking and then walking there. Luckily, it's not located in a particularly busy area, so you'll just be competing with residential car parking mostly. -Acoustics can definitely get a little scary in here. We came during a random Friday afternoon (and were really expecting it to be dead), but with just five tables full, it was hard to hear one another across the table. They (luckily) don't make it any worse by playing any background music, but it was definitely really surprising. Definitely somewhere you'll want to sit close to your tablemates or speak loudly. read more

What a cute pub in the heart of Dayton. It is in what I like to call an "up-and-coming" neighborhood. They have a cozy interior with a great patio for summer. Beer options are local and plentiful. Cocktails are lovely (especially on a warm summer day). I had a couple snacky things for food, so I can't really speak to the food, but people ordering around me seemed happy. Honestly, I think I need to go to Fifth Street more often. I love the feel of this bar. Service has been pleasant. As I mentioned, ambiance is cozy. I have a good feeling about this place. Porch Festival, beautiful event. So a group of us decided to come here for a nightcap at 9:15-9:30. Sign says kitchen closes at hour before, but it was closed now. Server came out and said we can only have water. So the. Manager said she notice some of the group motor skills was off. BS!! I have seen people stumbling drunk, slurring words come In there and get served. WTF!!! So I have lived downtown for 13 years, I guess I will keep my Dollars on this side of Keowee st, and I will recommend I all friends and co-workers and people I know to do the same. read more

This is an adorable little brewery! The first time we came here we sat outside on the patio. They have bench seating and plenty of shade. A few people had their dogs with them, which is awesome! They are always rotating their beer selection. When I went they had a the best selection with a ginger beer that was fantastic! The second time we sat inside at the bar and tried an IPA which was also great. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this place for a good beer and an appetite. read more

This is such a cool concept. It's a co-op non profit that took over a run down house on the East side of Dayton and made it in to a great place to hang out. They acquired the building next door and renovated it to be their brew house. In between the two buildings is a biergarten brick patio. The bricks were claimed from a local building and include bricks purchased by members listing their names. They have a great selection of beers including many of their own. The food is amazing. Everything i have tried here is very good. They make everything in house including their ketchup. I had an opportunity to become a founding member before this place was open and I am kicking myself for not jumping in. read more

They came out quick and we ordered food.. waited 50 minutes and noticed that other tables that arrived after us were getting food before we even got our appetizer. I had driven past the Fifth Street Brewpub a couple of times and, after looking them up on Yelp and the web, decided to give them a try on my next visit to Dayton. The pub is located in the Saint Anne's Hill neighborhood of Dayton, on the south side of 35. The building is pretty small, and the parking is limited in the back, or on the street. Fifth Street is a small "neighborhood" brewpub establishment. The bartenders and staff were friendly, but overall it felt like attending someone else's family reunion. The menu is limited, but good. I had the burger, and it was very pleased with it. They brew on premises, so there are some beers which are random, and all three I tried were very good. If you're in the area, it's definitely a good place to stop in with friends, grab a table in the back and try their beers - which are certainly growler worthy - with some grub. read more

Nice local co-op brewery. The tap selection varies and includes both house brews and others, but tends to be a bit IPA-heavy for me. The food is pretty good and a little different from your standard bar fare. We've tried one of the potato chip "nacho"-type appetizers which was pretty good and several sandwiches. My fiance enjoyed the Italian sandwich, but we both thought it was odd that it didn't have cheese on it. I liked the Young and Weck-less sandwich, which comes with an awesome horseradish dip! My biggest complaint about the place is the service. Both times I've been we were in a large group so maybe that's the cause, but the wait staff just seems to be a bit overwhelmed. The most recent time we went, we arrived a few minutes after our party had been seated and there were only two menus on the table--for a group of 8. Eventually the waitress brought us more, but I'm not sure why we didn't have enough menus for the table at the start. Food and checks for everyone didn't come out at the same time either. It's not a big place or anything, but I think they could handle groups better. read more

I'm really rating them for their beers because they have some awesome ones! All the herbivores I've had are delicious - especially the saison, they have a mint stout in winter that I'd drink year round. Their pretzels are super good, cheese curds way too small a portion compared to other places and the size of their other apps, skip them for sure. Overall it's a fun bar, parking isn't too bad since their tiny lot is always full, but the street is pretty quiet. Busiest night I've been in is for trivia and always find a table. read more

I moved to St. Anne's Hill about a year and a half ago. Living so close to 5th Street Brew Pub has been truly a blessing. Great food, warm atmosphere, and FANTASTIC beer. You really can't beat 5th street on their price or their quality. With weekly specials and an ever changing beer roster there is always something new. Very good beer and nice staff. Had cup 'o jojo and mint cookie stouts. Aroma of mint cookie stout of course evokes memories of the famous thin mints. Food was good, too, including red pepper tomato soup, hamburger, and salmon sandwich. Seems like a great little neighborhood bar; think we would be regulars if we were local. Only downside is that it was a little loud for our older ears because of the smallish interior space (it was about 36 degrees outside) but the intimacy of the place is part of its attraction. read more
