These guys are top notch. They have made custom drive shafts and clutch centers for my pulling truck.

I took the Ferris mower that we purchased new at Boone's 20+ years ago. I asked to have the engine…read moreresealed to stop the oil leaks that had developed and to fix the linkage on the carburetor that had fallen off. They kept the mower for several weeks, then called to tell us all of the repairs would cost over $1200. We were told the carburetor had to be replaced because linkage was not available and that the engine needed disassembled to replace the seals. We reluctantly agreed to have the service performed. Weeks later we get a call from them stating that the mower had no compression and the engine needed replaced. Mind you, their parts man drove it into their repair shop while I was there to drop it off. I told them nevermind, I would came and get it. I brought it home and checked the compression. It showed 90 lbs. on my gauge. I found that it had no spark so I replaced both coils. I put a clip on the carburetor from a Dorman replacement kit. We used the mower the remaining mowing season. We were charged over $500 by Boone's for basically an incompetent diagnosis. They put much more effort in trying to get us to buy a new mower than in attempting to repair ours. We are still using the mower after getting the oil leaks repaired by a very competent service tech at half the cost, including a new carburetor. The fuel shutoff solenoid quit working recently and that required a new carb. We have been very loyal customers to Boone's for over 20 years. That loyalty has come to an end.

My Father, who I recommended to buy a Stihl chain saw where I bought mine at Boone's, had a bad…read moreexperience. His saw was only a few months old (600-700 dollar saw) and had a no spark, no start issue. Since he's been a mechanic for years and works on chain saws as well seen it was not getting spark and took it to Boones for warranty for the coil or whatever it needed. When he got there a technician checked for spark and got none. My father left it there thinking it was under warranty and when he went pick it up 2 weeks later they wanted to charge him 48.00. I went with him to talk to a customer service person and the technician, and the technician confirmed he got no spark when he checked it initially but said at that time his spark tester was faulty. I stated, "so you made a mistake," he said yes, but the customer service rep still made my father pay for the service. He stated the fuel was bad after he smelled it...the fuel in the same container was used by me on my father's second chainsaw, his Husqvarna the day he took it in and had no fuel issues. Especially since it was the expensive premixed fuel he had just purchased at another power tool store in Germantown. I told my father to go ahead and pay it, He said he won't go back there again on matter of principle. I bought 2 chainsaws and blower there, and other chains, seals and such. I will not go back either and believe they were dishonest and an older customer shouldn't be put through the drama. Interestingly right after my father bought his Husqvarna chainsaw the coil did go out, over year ago, he took it to Ness's where he bought it and they fixed it for free, and the coil was bad. I am not an advocate for Ness's near Germantown, but my father now is...they treat customers right at least. Boones states they have over 53 years' experience, I just wonder if that means those dealing with customers, none of them looked over 30, I could be wrong.
