I spend a great deal of time at The Domain. I asked myself why while I was back at the Domain…read moreagain today. The Domain is now a sought-after destination - where shopping (casual and high-end), dining, night life and other fun experiences converge. You can go shopping, meet a friend for happy hour, or do something completely fun and adventurous in the course of the day or evening. One of my Finance groups hosts a monthly Finance meeting at The Domain. Shopping...some of my favorite fun stores are at the Domain such as J. Crew and Anthropologie. I love these two stores because they have unique goods at great prices, in general, and specifically, have amazing sales. If you are a big baller, you can shop at stores like Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany's and whole host of other high stores. I'm a tiny baller. Smile. Dining - At the Domain you can get reasonably priced foods to high end fare. Some of my favorite places to dine in the Domain include Glorias, Flower Child, Paul Martin's and Haywire. Important to note, most restaurants have great happy hours and associated amazing prices. Nightlife - Some say that The Domain (especially on Rock Rose Avenue) is the new 6th Street (known for its bars and Live music). I would not venture out that far. However, if you want to party in the wee hours of the night, you can do it at The Domain. Fun Experiences - You can transport yourself to fun such as IPIC movie theatre, Museum of Illusion or the Battle of the Games. Last weekend I discovered the Barkin Creek Dog Kitchen & Bath...so, The Domain is not only for humans. Love The Domain...I am sure I will see you there!

A lot of the retail staff are friendly and there seems to be stuff going on during the holidays, so definitely check it out. Also, lots of parking garages.

Everything was cleaned up and ready for me to set up. He had to cut some drywall to run the cable, but did it low behind my softener so it's not even visible. The first time they did it they installed a 240 volt outlet in my garage and I plugged a tesla mobile connector into that, worked well. The next time they did it at the new house, I thought they would do the same thing but apparently they stopped installing the mobile connectors. Now they only install the wall connector which is a large sci-fi looking thing that is permanently affixed to the wall. It's also more expensive than the mobile connector. None of this was made clear to me when we started the project with Grayzer. They came to my house, got about 90% done with the job then saw the equipment I had and said "sorry we don't do those anymore". They explained the situation to me but since I didn't have the equipment they wanted they couldn't finish. They did however insist on being fully paid for the job. Stupidly, I agreed to pay them and they left saying "call us when you have the wall connector". That was a mistake. Never fully pay for the work until the job is fully done! So I bought one and scheduled a time to finish at which point they said they would need to charge another trip fee to come back out. I explained that it wasn't made clear to me that I didn't have the right equipment until the job was almost complete but they didn't care. They were insistent that I give them another trip fee before they would come back. Frankly they were pretty rude about it too. Like really rude. Whoever I was emailing was belligerent and completely unprofessional. It was extremely frustrating. I tried to explain that as the professionals in this situation they should be the ones checking that all the equipment is ready to go before the job starts. At the time I didn't know the difference between a mobile connector and a wall connector. I didn't even know that tesla had multiple options for wall chargers. I had what I used the first time so I figured it would work. It's not that the trip fee was so much money but after having to drag this out over two visits, spend another $150 to upgrade to a wall connector, a trip fee on top of all that was a bit much. In my opinion, a reasonable company would just accept responsibility and waive the second trip fee. Or at least offer to split it. But not these guys. They dug their trench and they weren't coming out. It was childish and stupid and I'm embarrassed for them. And to boot, the people they sent out to finish up the job were jerks. One of them was yelling and cussing at somebody on their phone like a crazy person in my garage. Honestly, these guys are like school on a Sunday -- no class. I guess this is what happens when you get to be a popular company. Customer service and basic decency goes out the window because what do you care, you have plenty of business. Right? Yeah right.

I need Diet Coke and food that is bad for me too. We come here probably once or twice a week. The Amazon return center is super convenient. There's a self serve kiosk too. Major plus. We typically go to the roof to eat and to let the kids run around the playscape. If anyyyyy corporate Whole Foods people are reading this- can we please update the play area? Maybe add to it? Or make it toddler friendly? I know I'm being picky we just come so much and it would be a dream update.

Ever see that SNL skit where Will Farrell shouts (to no one in particular), "I drive a Dodge…read moreStratus!!" as a comment about his position as an upwardly mobile, white-collar breadwinner to an unappreciative family? Well, "I drive an electric car!" and as a card-carrying crunchy granola hippie, I just **love** that we have a DC fast charger and a few other green gimmicks at this stretch of 2nd street now called Electric Drive in downtown's newly rechristened "Seaholm Ecodistrict". Besides being able to completely recharge my car in 30 minutes via stored wind-generated power (heck, that barely gives me time to do the 3-mile loop on the trail from across the adjacent Pfluger Bridge), I can hang out at the cool shaded kiosk by Sol Design Lab and charge up my phone via solar panels. If you're not a runner/walker/biker or people watcher, you can also park & charge via slower (4 hour) Level 2 ports while shopping at the nearby Trader Joe's or dining at Boiler 9 or True Food. Soon we'll also have that gorgeous new Central Library open next door, too. From the Austin Energy press release from the opening in March 2017, "Electric Drive is powered entirely by renewable energy. Electric Drive offers dedicated parking for two electric vehicle charging stations including a fast-charging DC port, and a solar-powered kiosk that can recharge electric bikes, scooters, motorcycles, laptops and mobile devices using integrated USB ports and electrical outlets. The kiosk, located alongside the Butler Hike & Bike Trail, also provides shade from the sun's rays during the day, and LED lighting at night. Electric Drive demonstrates Austin Energy's commitment to the growing electric vehicle market and renewable energy." More about the launch (with video) is available here: http://www.twcnews.com/tx/austin/news/2017/03/27/austin-energy-unveils-electric-drive.html The docking of a star has to do with the fact that #1, you have to pay to park in the metered spots every day but Sunday (even though the EV charging service is free), and #2, this station is notorious among EV drivers for being out of service more often than not. Austin is still growing and figuring out how to make this infrastructure work; they still have some work to do. When the station is down, call 1-888-758-4389 (mentioning Chargepoint charger #5DB2) for assistance. You can also try this map of other COA PlugIn EVerywhere network chargers around town http://austinenergy.com/wps/portal/ae/green-power/plug-in-austin/electric-vehicle-drivers/electric-vehicle-drivers . There are 250 almost free (you have to pay $25 every 6 months for the keychain access card/dongle) charging stations in Austin's network (and still others at stores like Whole Foods and Walgreens), so don't lose hope if you're low on juice! We gonna rock down to... Electric Ave... er, Drive. Dang it! They really missed an opportunity here. Poor Eddy Grant will be getting no royalties on this one.

Less than 2 weeks later my main panel overloaded and took out all my 240V systems. I scheduled a service call and their master electrician Clifford Black came out to assess the damage. I was assured that they would replace the guts inside my main panel free of charge. Following this, I was left without 240V for 3 days, and I had to remind them to send me an electrical proposal on paper. Now they claim my panel had thermal damage and refuse to restore my system unless I pay them for a full panel upgrade. In addition to this, during the service call they took my breakers that melted making it harder to get the cause diagnosed by another electrician. I was left without 240V systems in the Texas heat for over a week. Update: On the followup they said my part for replacing my panel was not available. This was not actually communicated with me and the owner is trying to save face. In reality they instead sent me a bill and refused to restore my service. They then ghosted me for any follow up.
