Cherries here are $2 a pound- which I think is a great price. Many places are priced around the same. If you want Raniers you'll need to go across the street to the Lopez Farm (which used to be owned by DC). The first reviewer for this place wrote a great review and had good advice on what to bring and do, so be sure to read it. The only other thing I would add is I would also bring: 1) scissors- you don't have to have them but it's easier on the hands 2) bug spray- there are bugs out there and I got bit today! 3) hand sanitizer, since your hands will get dirty I found that the rows which were furthest back and the trees in the middle tended to have the best fruit. Probably varies each season but that's how it was for us during this visit. They don't have ladders but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a light plastic stool. I have been craving to go cherry picking and the stars never seem to align just right. Either I think about it way too early or way to late in the season. This year though, I had a google calendar reminder setup and I was prepared to go! Memorial day weekend seemed to be busiest so we went the week after. The memorial day crowd must have raped those trees as most of the low hanging fruit was gone. Even though you are not supposed to, we ended up standing on our buckets to get the Rainer variety. The black tart was completely gone but there was plenty of bing to go around. The season is super short and overheard that they may only have one more weekend and then close up! Only cherries here, have to drive around the rest of Brentwood for other fruits and veggies! Not much shade and dusty parking lot. (That's probably typical!) read more

We really enjoyed our experience at the farm. We did have a hard time finding cherries, but that's our fault for going at the end of the season. There was still enough for the crowd that was there. Price was $2.50 per pound, which was reasonable to us. My only complaint was that 3 out of the 4 workers I ran into there seemed liked annoyed high school kids that were forced to work there. read more

We went opening weekend and it was crowded but we had a great time. I chose this orchard because its the only one that advertises short trees for children. We took 5 young children, 2 teenagers and 2 adults, Each of us had a wonderful time. Well one of us more than the others...my husband loved it so much we ended up leaving with 36 pounds of cherries!! Yes 36 thats $90 worth!! Who buys $90 worth of cherries?? Well we did; surprisingly they are half gone and its only been 3 days. They took my check because I was not expecting to spend that much; I only brought $40 cash with me expecting to spend maybe $20. But he just wouldn't stop, I kept telling him we have enough, we have plenty but he wouldn't listen. He kept finding the perfect cherries to pick. Like a kid in a candy store. At least this candy is good for you. I highly recommend DC's if you have children, if you want a kid free weekend go elsewhere. The staff was wonderful. They recognized us as being rookies right off the bat and walked us through the process. Very helpful young people. The darker the berry the sweeter the juice....lol read more

We wanted to go cherry picking. I'd done a little research online (how did I skip Yelp?!). What attracted me to DC's Extraordinary Cherries was the no-ladder required trees. I didn't like the idea of going up and down in the blazing far-East Bay sun. You can melt out there. The fog had rolled in the City, so as we drove out over the bridge, through the tunnel, and around the mountain, we were pleasantly surprised that they sky was blue and clear, but it was still relatively cool. Thankfully, we had sunblock (SPF 50) in the car. No matter how cool it is, the sun still burns. As the woman told us, "Each cherry tree is different. Taste one to see if you like it. Don't eat too much or you'll end up in there," pointing to the port-a-potties with lines of people waiting. I started there, and I can tell you don't want to go in one of these contraptions if you can help it. Minus one star for the facilities, otherwise it was a five star experience. The orchard had only opened on Friday, so the trees still had plenty of fruit. Certainly, there were places where they had been picked over, but there were hundreds that hadn't been. We discovered that we both like sweet cherries, tart cherries, and unripe cherries. Sure, we had a map of the varieties, but soon we were lost amongst the trees and the fruit, gathering, tasting, and having a lot of fun. I don't know if it were the holiday weekend, or simply this is what people do, but there were many people out there. Didn't feel crowded except in the parking lot. No idea what people were going to do with there 20+ pounds of cherries each. We limited ourselves to six pounds @ $2 per pound plus all that we could eat. There were so yummy! Definitely down to pick some more fruit in the future. Where can we go for blueberries? read more

Ok is about right..... Stopped by yesterday(Sunday on Memorial Day weekend) early-ish(9:30AM) and actually got a spot in their own parking lot vs. roadside or across the street. The season this year definitely doesn't seem like it's in full effect with ether many of the trees picked clean already, or just not fruiting yet. The fact they have a listing of the different types of cherries is really cool... would have been even cooler if there were actually cherries on the tree of the type that were listed or we were looking for. One of the draws of this place is that they have shorter trees which are easier or better for little kids to be able to participate in the picking as well. Yes... the trees were shorter, and again, maybe it was nature, but the season wasn't quite cooperating this time of year. The rows are difficult to skip between due to the cabling for the irrigation, so be careful. Overall not a bad experience, but certainly not a good one. This will stay on the list of place to hit up in the coming years to see if it can be a better turnout. read more

This is our first cherry picking event and we went here today with kids as a family and we all enjoyed a lot picking cherries in the basket they provided. some of the cherries would need to be mention is the black tart which is really nice. Also they have many other varieties of cherries. No need of ladder as the trees are not that much tall. Most likely we will go again soon. I came back to this cherry farm this past weekend (5/14/16) and I am glad I did. This year they had a better crop of cherries to pick from when I last visited in 2014. I picked 11.5 lbs of cherries in about 40 minutes. They provided me with a bucket and bag to collect. They weighed it, I paid for it. They packaged it up for me and I was on my way out in 45 minutes. The staff is friendly and helpful. Helpful tip: They open up at 8 am so try to get there within the first hour when they are open. The weather is cool, there aren't many people at all so you can go down rows of cherries without running into other people. If you wait like everyone else to come to Brentwood around 10 am - 11 am, expect to be stuck on Vasco Road in a line of cars. Also expect all of the farms to be busy and congested parking lots too. All of this can remind you of being in the City and ruin the visit to Brentwood. Also, it starts to warm up around that time so be prepared to get some sun and sweat. To me, the smartest thing to do is to go early and leave early. When I was driving back to the Peninsula on Vasco Road to Livermore, all I can do is smile because it was wide open driving for me. On the other side of the road, going into Brentwood, a long line of cars of people wanting to pick fruit. Your choice. I'm sure that if I really wanted to, I could get in and out of Brentwood with my cherries in less than 1 hour. And now you know! ;) read more

This has become a yearly Memorial Day weekend tradition for us and DC cherry's are always excellent. The Bing Cherries here are the sweetest and the most ripe. They have a good selection of different types of cherry's so you'll spend a good hour or two picking.Also, a big plus is their cherry trees are not very tall, so even small kids can pick the cherry's off the tree without using any ladders. We had a great time picking cherries at this farm this year! Lots of sweet red cherries, like the Utah Giants and Bing's. The white fleshed cherries weren't as sweet and crisp. I did like the black tarts that they had, super sweet, but some were too over ripened. read more

They have the best varieties and easiest pick cherries in Brentwood. The dwarf variety is reachable even for toddlers. Conveniently located just off Vasco when coming from 580. Parking along the road is easier on the car. I really wonder how they make it a business. I see a lot more people eating than buying. And I know how hard it is to have a large productive crop after trying to grow fruit trees myself in my own backyard. Just to keep the bird and squirrels away is already a challenge. To let the masses of people to come in and eat my hard work for free is hard to imagine. It is disturbing to see people abuse the free entrance by wasting the cherries, leaving trash behind and breaking tree branches. Maybe it is a better system to charge by headcounts for entry. Kudos to the owner for running the cherry picking every year. read more

The European dwarf trees sold me as we had a couple of 3 year olds with us who would've loved going up the ladders at the other farms...but for safety reasons we didn't want to give them the temptation. My main complaint is that the cherries were SOOO soft and mushy - even the Bings. Also, the walking areas are all dust roads so on a windy day - it's pretty unbearable. SOOOO much fun. We went today - plenty of cherries, like the other reviewers mentioned, the staff is great - super friendly and helpful for firtst time pickers. We had kids, it was really easy. No ladders, everyone had fun. Bring hat, sunscreen and water to drink. Lots of cherries, and they give you a sheet, that explains the types they have, if they are good for eating, pies, etc, and it also says they have 70% Bing cherries. Yummy. This is a great place for cherry picking. Another big plus is that it is kid friendly. The trees are low enough for the little ones to pick. The employees there are super helpful with parking and tips. The cherries were super sweet and delicious. Definitely check them out! read more
