On our recent trip to Amsterdam we were lucky enough to be staying in a flat right above this market. It was a delight to see them setting up every morning and take it down every evening (except Sunday when it is closed). This market has everything from fresh produce, to prepared foods, to purses, to clothes, to toothpaste, deodorant, etc., etc. This is a one-stop shop market for sure. I never got tired of walking the length of this market and it seemed as though I discovered something new every time. We sampled much of the food in the market and were never disappointed by its quality or taste and eating at the market is a lot cheaper than eating at a café in Amsterdam. This was my favorite place to shop in Amsterdam. Better then any thrift store, vintage shop or shopping mall was this market. They have everything from food, jeans, socks, underwear, flowers, knic knacks, cheese, leggings, baked goods, jewelry, you name it they have it! I got a brand new pair of jeans here for 10 euro. Why would I go to a real store again and pay 3 times as much? no thanks. Also scored some fries with mayo for 2 euro and I noticed a lot of people there were speaking dutch-likely locals. I really wish the weather was better when I was there. It was cloudy then started sprinkling when I was halfway through. However, this didn't damper my mood! They really have ALL sorts of items here from food to clothes to flowers... you name it! I got 3 cups of different fresh fruit juice/smoothies for less than 5 EU. We also tried some french fries with ketchup, curry, and onions that was pretty good too from one of the vendors. They had some pretty cute stockings, but I didn't have enough time to shop. This is a place you HAVE to check out! It reminded me a lot of Ladies Street in Hong Kong! read more

It's like a flea market with food! I tried a lot of Dutch food I think, including fries in a cone, herring sandwich, and the puffs made of flour for which I don't know the name. Clothes, souvenirs, and all! The street isn't too long so it's possible to go through this in probably an hour, but definitely come check it out! read more

We came across this large street market by accident while exploring the nice neighbourhood and were so glad we did! This is the place to go to shop for souvenirs and try some amazing foods. Prices at all the stands are reasonable. The Mediterranean stand (forget the name) had some super yummy foods! read more

This is an average market that was close to the Heineken experience so I stopped by. It had a few too many clothing shops for my tastes but they did have some awesome fresh squeezed juices that I really enjoyed. I also tried the stroopwaffle for the first time which was alright. The mini pancakes covered in powdered sugar were great though. read more

I could wander this market for hours... Oh wait, I have. There are a ton of different vendors here. Food, clothing, junk, etc. I stuck to the food and I was not disappointed. Seafood was totally reasonable and the cheese portions were very generous. In addition, they have an amazing variety of food produce and you can see the people enjoying them right there, tasting the grapes and whatnot. I love this market and can't wait to return. read more

This is Amsterdam's biggest open-air market along Albert Cuypstraat. I expected a farmer's/flea market that opens on Sunday mornings as in other cities, but De Albert Cuypmarkt is open daily except on Sundays, and I got the feeling that you can find pretty much anything here, not just produce or housewares. Lots of yummy Dutch treats like poffertjes and stroopwaffels in addition to ethnic eateries. The market is very big, and expect an hour to walk across and get to the food area. I actually felt a bit overwhelmed, but the trip made for less shopping and eating and more peoplewatching. read more

Best market in Amsterdam is what I've been told by the internet and the hotel concierge. Largest as well. Saw both locals and tourists here and it was very packed on a Saturday afternoon. Don't expect to get anywhere in a hurry. Fruits were cheap and there were multiple 1 Euro fruit juice stands. Other flea market foods I saw people eating were fried fish, chicken, fries, waffles, stoopwafels. I imagine this is a pretty awesome market, if and only if, the vendors would show up when it rains. I mean, why wouldn't a vendor want to make a stroopwafel in the rain? I certainly want to eat one in the rain! However, I won't really knock it because the best herring is to be had here. Smooth and less expensive than elsewhere. I still dream of it. read more

Nice strip of pure goodness. Was able to try the original goudsche stroopwafel and I must say whether you like it plain or with Belgian chocolate at the end, it's all gooood! Not too sweet not too heavy, just enough combination of both! read more

FYI: only open on Sundays I heard about this market from people in my hostel. It was supposed to have souvenirs at half price but that promise did not materialize. It's more for locals than tourists featuring clothing and groceries for the most part. There are quite a bit of stalls selling ready to eat foods as well. It's worth going if you're in the area already but not something to go out of your way to see. read more

I love love love this outdoors market. There are so many good food cart options - stropwaffles, POTTERJES, and the infamous chicken stands. One euro for fresh pressed juice??? If I could come here everyday, I would. Many of the merchants spoke English and a variety of other languages. However, besides the great food options, the clothing stalls were lackluster. Not my style and they were overpriced for its style and clothing quality. Come here for good, cheap food. read more

I love this market. If you are looking for lunch, breakfast, a snack, a pair of shoes, a pair of souvenir socks with Marijuana leaves on them, this is the place for you. You can go here to taste all and any traditional food of the Netherlands, or sit at one of the many Cafes lining the market strip to just watch the day go by. The streets parallel to it are extremely quaint as well if you want to continue your walk through the market onto calmer, quieter things. It is also a convenient 15 minute walk away from the museum quarter. read more

I've been visiting this market since 1999. I've even stayed in an apartment right above the center section. It is an amazing place. It's put up every morning bright and early and taken down at night. It's inspiring in it's own way. The best part, obviously is the plentiful and unique stalls that line the entire street on both sides. You can find some very interesting items for sale and some great prices. My favorites are the Spice store (fantastic) and all of the food stalls. You can get the best Stroopwafels in the city, handmade right in front of you. They are fantastic. I could eat a dozen if I wasn't on a diet. I've had food from just about every stall, purchased cloth to take home and I bring spices back every trip. There is also a wonderful Mediterranean deli that has some fantastic feta cheese spreads. The spicy ones are the best. If you go, take your time. Stop and smell the roses, cheese, fish ( if you like the smell) and all that it has to offer. Make sure you take lots of photos. read more

I am a sucker for farmer's market type of ordeals, so naturally had to check out this street. Lots of stroopwafel vendors, some that take credit cards and some that don't. Very delicious dutch fries, fish and chips, and other options (for the adventurous, the raw herring). A great place to find some gifts too, at a cheaper price than some of the souvenir shops in the city. read more

I live just a couple minutes from the market and go there frequently. It's big and has everything! I have my go-to cheese guy, go-to produce place, and always grab a banana smoothie at the end before I head back home. I like that there are also stores behind the market stalls, so you really have a big selection of random items. I've tried the fresh stroopwaffels, regular waffels, Surinamese stand, poefertje, haaring, fried seafood, soup, chicken... all the snacky food you would want for a typical Amsterdam experience! Albert Cuyp is maybe the most expensive market in the area since it's also the most known one and the biggest in NL, but I like the experience and products :) It is usually very crowded and you have to be patient and walk slower with the herd of people. It's not the most fun about it, but I guess popular markets are like that. read more

You go to the Albert Cuyp Market for fresh frood and vegetables (not expensive), warm syrup waffles (do try them!), different kinds of clothing, fruit juice, nuts, chocolate penises (seriously), fabrics, make-up and corny lingerie with a nice wink from the seller :D In the actual shops you'll find the best clothing (Sjerpetine!) and there's Peperbol for all kinds of species. read more

A fairly nice but average market. All sorts of lovely things on offer. I especially liked some chocolate I bought there. It had something a bit different in it, sadly I forgot to ask what so if you venture here please have a taste! BUT I ended my trip to this market early due to an over amorous market trader who persisted to follow me around until even after I advised him that I wasnt single or interested! This happened to me a few times in Amsterdam so Id advise any younger ladies going here to be a bit aware that you might get this. However I did not have any other trouble in this city. However that being said, this is a nice place to visit when in Amsterdam for those who need a rest from the wild nights and those who arent into the more 'red' side of the city. read more

We stayed in Amsterdam for 7 days in De Pijp and walked through the market at least 3 times. The poffertjes were the best I've ever had. My mom bought souvenirs: 2 caps, 2 T-shirt's, 3 canvas bags, 2 backpacks, and an iPhone 8 accessory! The only thing is that we were told we couldn't use credit cards- cash only. Didn't like this market. Not only it had like really cheap stuff there and things no one can actually use, not even locals, was smelly ( not the good kind ) and kinda lame in general. Access was pretty easy and the good thing about it is the neighborhood which at night turns into a really cool place for a drink :) read more

We came here on our first day in Amsterdam. It is a great place to get traditional Dutch food (fried fish, raw herring, and stroop waffles) and shop for silly souvenirs and admire flowers for sale. The market was crowded and many of the vendors were the same and seemed to be cheap clothing or souvenirs shops. We were able to buy some fresh baked bread, cheese, and fresh fruit for good prices which lasted us for about a week for snacks in between meals or on the go. Worth a quick stroll through but dont need much time here. read more

Tip: If you come from the Ferdinand Bol side of the market (so not the van Wouwstraat side), the first green grocer on the right side is absolutely amazing. I buy my vegetables here every week and never paid more than EUR7,- And that's for five days, for two persons! For the rest the market is ok for cheese (1/2 the price as in stores nowadays) and there's drugstore booth where you can get 3 for EUR5,- products that would normally also cost you more. As a local I go there at least once a week (and skip all the touristic trash that is also sold there, of course) read more

The Albert Cuypmarket is a must see. It's Amsterdam's flea and farmers market all in one. Many of the shops and street foods are repetitive, but who cares. The poffertjes are great and you'll find every souvenir except for anything branded iAmsterdam. Many of the businesses close early and parking sucks, so get there earlier rather than later. Keep in mind most of the vendors only accept cash. read more

I love the market. It has neighborhood feel and flair. It has a lot of stuff, too. However, I think it needs more stuff and more food, food vendors. It's probably better during the warmer months. Still it's a great place to hunt for stuff or something in particular. It's open everyday except Sunday. I was really excited to check this place out for it is one of the recommendations to shop while in Amsterdam. Ooh the new goodies I would find and items I never seen before. The market reminded me of a street fair only taking up lengthier amount of streets, it was without games to play or prizes to win and without what I always look for in a street fair: Zepolles. All these stalls lined up next to each other trying to vend their goods. Each stall was neat and clean. This market is crowded with people. Only one thing that didn't excite me is that there was nothing that wowed me. Yes, I saw new stuff like the cheeses stalls, pickled products stalls, stalls selling meats, and stalls with different species or names of seafood and veggies/fruits. I never encountered a handful of items and was interesting to sample some but the majority of stuff here are run of the mill products like watches, clothing like socks/shirts/hats, candies, foods available all over Amsterdam or even in my local area. The fish stalls had a very fresh selection. It was very nice to walk with everyone and check out the goods but it's just a different scene from any average street fair. Though if you need something, it just might be at the Albert Cuypmarkt and worth browsing, you might find something useful (I had my eye on some thermal socks to keep my toes warm). The other thing you can do if you get tired of the street vendors is go into the shops behind the stalls, the actual retail store and it's less busy, an escape from the crowd. read more

Hey there! Sorry to bust your bubble folks but here is a negative review. My husband and I call this the Albert Crapmarket because there is too much cheesy (hehe) crappy stuff for sale. How many leggings and wooden shoes do you need? What this market needs to do is make the stalls that show their stuff on the street just go back inside their store and leave the authentic people to showcase the best of Holland. The kind of nasty pickle man (don't ask him questions, he doesn't like it) - Good. The nice cheese people - they love to talk about cheese, all the flowers - cool, and the fresh produce - Great! Frites - Cool! And Nuts!!! Love the nut and dried fruit kiosks. The market near Kinkerstraat is way better for authentic and cheap produce by the way. Bags of veggies for 1 euro. Still sells crappy stuff though. sort of like Canal Street. read more

I've developed and addiction to shopping the Albert Cuypmarkt for my produce. Every few days I wander through it and pick up fresh, vibrant, organic produce for ridiculously reasonable prices. I've found lot of fruits and vegetables that I've never even seen before (including some tiny peppers that are the hottest thing I've ever eaten). The Albert Cuypmarkt isn't just produce though; they have other types of foods, including fish and snacks as well as flowers and sundries (clothing, fabrics, bikes and bags seem prominent). There are also lots of shops and restaurants lining the street that the market runs through, so it's possible to stop for a meal or a cup of coffee while you wander. read more

Was disappointed with this market. Read so many wonderful reviews on it but most of the stalls sold predominantly junk, bad quality tchotchkes. The food stalls seemed decent: cheese, fish, stroopwaffles, but everything else was not worth the visit. I would recommend the Bazar Restaurant located on the market street if you are in the mood for Middle Eastern food. read more
