What is a 68 year old fart writing a review about Mission College? Drove 14 miles round trip on a Wednesday to Mission College parking lots B and C, where Kaiser Permanente is giving out flu shots. Kaiser Permanente is not giving out walk in flu shots at its hospitals this year in Santa Clara county. Instead it is teaming up with Mission College offering drive through flu vaccinations. Drive southbound 101, left turn on Great America, left turn onto Mission College blvd, and right turn around the parking lots. Place is huge, perhaps larger than nearby Levi stadium parking lot. Temporary signs lead the way to parking lot B, empty of student cars due to virtual classes. Sign says no photography nor videos. Probably for privacy concerns of the patients. No line, no waiting for cars in front of me. Fortunately as this is an 84 degree day in late October. One mile drive through a maze of orange traffic cones and chain linked wooden construction signs zig zagging through the parking lot, like a waiting line at Disneyland. Place can handle 2000 cars a day or 300 cars per hour. Roll the window down, with your mask on. Got to show your kaiser membership card just before the tent entrance just to get in Directed by masked members at the tents, to one of half a dozen drive in stations, where the flu vaccinations are set up. Each station can handle 50 cars per hour, or one car every 60 seconds. Turn off engine. Personnel swipe my Kaiser card through the electronic card reader, and check my one year old real id driver license. Wear a shot sleeve shirt, so that they can give you a 25 ml vaccine dose. I tell them I'm over 65, so I get a 27 ml dose needed for seniors like me. A bit of alcohol to clean the skin, a poke of the needle, and dab of cotton over the puncture. Flu vaccinations from 9am-415pm Monday-Saturday, except Tuesday which is 1pm-415pm. Earlier in September you had to make an online appointment. Now no appointment needed, as nobody coming on weekday afternoons. In and out in 15 minutes max. People could come here on their lunch times, the only advantage of having to come to work during the coronavirus. The sea of parking cones reminds me of when I took driving lessons from my Dad in the late 1960s at the vast UC Berkeley parking lots. Driving a 1965 Chevrolet Impala, a big difference from my stick shift 2017 Honda Fit. Car was so big that I would probably run over a fair number of those traffic cones and chain barriers at Mission College. read more

We visited Mission College one afternoon so that my daughter could check out the campus. She was looking into enrolling here after high school. This place feels like a ghost town. The parking lot was mostly empty. No problems finding a parking space, you pretty much have your choice! The campus was very quiet. It is a ghost town. You almost expect to see tumbleweed. There were no other people walking around the place. It was eerie. Didn't see much activity in any of the buildings we entered. There was only one building where we saw a small class in session. That was it. Perhaps everyone is taking classes online? Or perhaps most of the classes are in the evenings? We stopped by in the afternoon. We were surprised to find very modern buildings on campus. It actually looks very nice! Just need to populate it with some people. Loved the library. They had lots of tables, plus some quiet rooms for study or collaboration. There were plenty of outlets & USB connections at each table. If only the Sunnyvale Public Library were so well equipped. The older ladies at the front are not very personable, they are actually very rude. I went in last year and the door was wide open and an older lady started yelling at me telling me that they were closed. Told me she would still help me but continued to say they were closed. I dreaded coming in today to borrow a book but needed to. I woke so don't always have the time to go when things are open at the school. I walked in and the ladies who where talking to each other at the front rudely stated telling me the young lady would help. She was very helpful. I told them I didn't have a student ID (I work and it's always closed when I try and get one) said I couldn't check out the book. They said it's a one life time of checking out a book without a student id. Told them I thought it was once per academic year. They proceeded to laugh at me. I walked out as they told me I should come back during their hours to get an ID. Honestly must be nice to be able to tell someone that and not consider they have a job that might not allow that flexibility. read more

I went there today to get my hooks before class. I enjoy studying. But this is not a good college. You have to use their online books only. There is no study material offered at this college. It seems they want to study you by watching by our eye movements perhaps. Its a very creepy school. They are not encouraging reading ahead or meditating on your own material? I had a campus workout-related ailment that I was concerned about...enough to make an appointment with my Kaiser doctor. Nurse Kelsey patiently explained it to me and "patched me up" without rushing me out the door. Jenny, the medical asst., was very friendly, as well. Mission College has been an educational staple in Santa Clara area since 1975. Not that I was here to tell, but I have been going to their campus now and then since I work on Mission College Drive and sometimes you want the oasis of fresh plants, trees, student life...and you can get a glimpse there. Also, I am always curious about any cultural activity they might have open to the general public and, why not, I like to peruse their catalog because there is never late to get more education in different topics. I didn't frequent the place for a while since they were under construction but last week I wanted to check it out (seems that they are almost done). Main building where the cafeteria is is very flashy, with a lobby that looks like the reception of a luxury hotel. Very friendly bilingual people there helping to redirect my colleague and I to the areas of our interest, which were mainly the cafeteria (very cute and modern and with many tables and modern couches) and the international students center to see what is going one there. They also have a cute terrace in the top floor with views to the companies around Mission College area. As a foreigner that did no grow up with community colleges, I always find this concept very fascinating. I went to an university where you could not change. The programs were 5 years long and you could not 'transfer' anywhere else. Well, I studied for free, so it does not count, but I value that community colleges like this one exist because looks like they are way cheaper, so accessible to more people, plus you can end up transferred (if you are accepted) to a renowned university. If I were young and living around here, will find this place like home, peaceful and accessible. If I decide to take some classes of some subject there, I will expand this review to be more subject matter/tuition centered. This is so far how good impression this college has for me. read more

I had a wonderful time at Mission College. At first I was going to go to Chabot College up in Hayward, but luckily I was swayed to come here instead, best decision ever. The campus has been going through a lot of renovations, so I'm happy to see that it is getting a well-deserved and updated new look! Mission College is also super easy to navigate through, they have 1 large parking lot and the buildings are quite close to the other. Their library isn't old looking either, lots of windows and is very open - same w/ the cafeteria, tons of tables and chairs to hang out at. I guess one downside are the counselors, I always feel like I'm being rushed out of there. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking to go back to school or is trying to find a great community college. read more

Today was the worst day ever. So here's the story. I recently got my A.S. degree and 2 certificate. I was supposed two get 2 different certificate. Which which was the Fundamental Food Service Skills and the Food Service & Restaurant Management. But instead I got 2 same certificate which was the Fundamental Food Service Skills. So I reach out and talk and email to Jhonaliza about the problem on the certificate was supposed to pick up my certificate. She told me that she will take care of it and email the Admission and Records about my certificate. So I follow up with her about my certificate which is the Food Service & Restaurant Management. Then she said (on email) "I spoke to Melissa delos Reyes our Senior Records Advisor, and she said that she has sent your certificate for Food Service and Restaurant Manager. I would give it few more days and if you do not receive it by this week, please do not hesitate to email me back". It was Sept 20th when she sent that email so I waited for about 10 days to receive my certificate and nothing happens. So I follow up with her again and email her that I haven't received my certificate. Then she email me back and said "I will reach out to our Records Dept again. Would you be able to pick up the certificate in our office?" And I emailed her and said "The best I can do is I can pick it up on October 13th at 12pm on Wednesday. If that works for you because I'm kind of busy this days". Then one day later she email me back and said "I will let the Records Office know that you will be picking up your certificate on that day". Today I was supposed to pick up my certificate, I was hella mad and piss that they were not inform that I was picking up my certificate for the Food Service & Restaurant Management. I really want to yell at them but I tried hold my anger towards them. It was Maria and Cesar. They did apologize about this situation. Maria told me she will call me back as soon as possible when the Admission and Records has my certificate. I was really angry at them. I also apologize to them because I was being little angry towards. I fucking waited 5 months to get my Certificate and the school has one fucking job and they fuck it up. It ain't fucking hard to mail damn the degree and certificate. Are they really that dump to not get the fucking job done right?!! I swear to god if I don't hear anything from them. They going to have a big problem with me if they don't get their shit to together. I've been in and out of school for hella years but this is my time to come back and get my grind on w/ school since being out of work means time to actually attend classes and study.. I love this campus because it's near my home, parking is quite plentiful, and the rooms are easy to find. Teachers are very understanding.. I think that goes for most other colleges as well but specifically my current hospitatlity and business teachers.. they understand that some have jobs and unexpected emergencies and obligations and are willing to accommodate you. read more

I've never took classes here, I would only come here n bring my girl to class. She took the pharmacy tech program. It's pretty coo program that's only 6 months long. The cafe here is pretty coo. They have coffee, ice cream, some pre made sammiches, chips, n other snacks. Never been to the cafeteria but I hear it's OK.. They have vending machines but they don't have a good variety if snacks in there. The bathrooms are pretty clean for the most part. Oh the parking. We use to park behind AMC cuz we didn't wanna pay for the $40 parkin sticker. But now they closed up the gate n put up hella signs sayin they'll tow your car if you park there. WEAK SHIT. But the college did give a 2 week grace period to buy a parking sticker if you haven't already. So that was pretty cool of them. So starting Sept 1, 2014 you'll have to have a parking sticker. I am currently in the VN Program here. I will be graduating this December actually! Since I came here in the fall of 2008, my time here has been great! The classes I chose were perfect and the instructors aren't too bad. Some of them suck at teaching but whatev! I wish they ran their systems better. Lines are long and theres not enough workers but I guess that's not their fault. Bottom line, the Nursing program kicks ass here! They staff can def teach and they hustle you for your skills. This school is awesome! This might be because I just graduated from a really small, bureaucratic, crappy high school, but I love this college! The food isn't anything to get excited about, but the teachers here are amazing! They are all about metacognitive thinking, as well as not getting stressed out. Right next door is In-N-Out, TJ Max, Subway, Jamba Juice, and a Starbucks! You never get bored or hungry there! The only 2 things that really annoy me about this place is the following, they are disorganized with how they place they handle their student's schedules, and they cut Japanese 3A and 3B. Allow me to explain. When I applied, I took placement tests in order to take classes I was ready for. I was placed in Math C (Middle level Math), and high Reading and English classes. When I went to the admissions center, they put in an override code in order for me to be place in those classes. However, 3 days before classes started, I get an email, 5 minutes before the Admissions office closes, saying I was dropped from these classes because I, "Had not completed the necessary prerequisites in order to take those classes". That made me have to sit through the long admissions line for 1 hour! I applied for those classes the day registration became available 2 months in advance, and they drop me like this? That really boiled my blood. As for Japanese, they dropped it because not enough students took it. However, they have other languages that many people don't take, and only go up to 1 level like "Conversational Russian", "Conversational Italian", other classes that barely have any follow up classes. Overall though, the good overrides the bad. Completely, I just appreciate that i'm in a school with a lenient semester system, and teachers that do respect you. But there are a few bad teachers here. She is a nice teacher with a very good personality. This is the second CC I've attended and I have had many problems with both Mission and West Valley. First off, 2 out of 3 classes I signed up for this semester and last have been on the border of being cancelled and one actually was cancelled on the first day, the second was able to continue due to students bringing in people to register for class on the second day. It was like a game of roulette, very stressful wondering if you'll have enough credits to be full time or not etc., I am not blaming this completely on the school because there are many other factors contributing class cancellation, I am just basing this review on my experience. I like how the campus is convenient, everything is all in one place, not much walking and not very many stairs to climb unlike the other CC I attended. It's a really neat and old school I suppose. Lots of places to sit and the campus is nice on the outside. Parking is SUCH a breeze. I however hate the bookstore. Sold me a $76 textbook as "NEW" when I opened it at home, there was writing all inside the book and old homework inside. The writing didn't hinder my ability to read the textbook, but I wish I wasn't charged full price/new if it was already used. After this semester I believe I won't come back unless I am desperate for units. read more

This campus was a lot smaller than I expected. Admission is really quick to collect your money or they drop you from your classes right away. I don't remember other colleges being this aggressive... I have no problem with this, but admissions and the campus office were not ready for me today. ID cards were not available, and it took a bunch of hunting around the office to find me a parking permit. I have take many courses here and found the campus to be small, clean, quiet, and friendly. There is lots of parking so you don't have to fight for parking. The main building is a bit cramped but there are plans to build a new state of the art facility. The trailers are sufficient but get really hot during the summer months. I recommend taking advantage of the online resources so you don't have to wait in line at the admissions office or drive to campus. read more

I have been going to this school for the past year now and boy it has change from when I first started going here. My experience here at Mission College is still good in my opinion. The teachers are very nice and will try to help you out as much as they can and then there are some that won't and will just teach. The counselor will try to get set up with a schedule of classes for you to finish and get your AA, transfer or both. The line at Admissions and Records is ridiculous and the service is a bit slow but they are making sure everything is correct for you. The parking citation employees are not observant at all. I had placed my seasonal parking permit in the proper place and the wind knocked it on my front seat. If they had ran my license plate they would have seen that I had a the seasonal permit, or if they had just looked inside of the car they would have seen the parking permit. They require you when purchasing a parking permit to put your license plate number in, but it does not make any sense why if they will just give you a parking citation anyway. Also the Admissions and Records Department is pretty much terrible. They have screwed up my records many times and when I contacted them to fix it, they had me on hold for over an hour after telling me my hold time was only 5 minutes. Then, it said there was no one available to talk to me so to leave a message and they did not contact me back till over 5 business days later! Every time I call they put me on hold for over an hour and then they tell me that they can't process my issue over the phone so I have to go in! With how much money this school has, I know they can either afford to hire on more employees or better ones. With how much tax dollars are going in Education in California, they shouldn't have to nickel and dime people with invalid parking citations or keep people on hold for over an hour every time they call. read more

This college is terrible. From the course content to instructor attitudes, counseling department and admissions and records, they go out of their way to antagonize students. Its unfair and makes no sense. The courses do not teach what they claim to and when you tell administration they outright do not care. This college has one goal - indoctrinating students to radical liberalism and they do it at any cost, even at the cost of the integrity of academia. They refuse to teach skills students need to succeed. They take your money and give you no education. Its a scam. This is higher education at its worst. Everything they do is for appearances and political correctness and they give A's to transferring students who don't know how how to think for themselves outside the rhetoric they were brainwashed by. Had all of my transcripts sent here (which costs money), and made an appointment to meet with a counselor to clear some pre-requisite classes that I had already taken. Took time off work to meet with the counselor and she was unable to pull up my transcripts from her computer because they're not integrated with the Records and Admissions office. First college I've ever been to where counselors do not have direct access to student records from their own office computer. Students have to go to the Records and Admissions office to request for copies of their records, and hand walk it to the counselors. It's 2017!! C'mon! Other than that, it's descent campus and parking is not bad during evening classes (not sure how the parking situation is during the day). read more

Three years ago,I returned to school to get my transfer degree here, after not finishing at West Valley 30 years ago. I just Graduated, with honors, and will be starting at SJSU in the fall. I got into the program at SJSU that I wanted, too. The professors I had here were, for the most part, great. I ended up having one of the best Math Class experiences of my life here, and I really feel like I got a lot out of all my major's classes. Mostly, the counselors I dealt with were great, I made sure to check in with a counselor to make sure I was still on track about once a semester, so I was able to stick to my path and get a lot of stuff out of the way. and get my Degree as well as a Certificate. The counseling department is staffed with a lot of really helpful people who want you to succeed and get where you want to go. If you are struggling, go see them, they want you to do well! There were a few exceptions, I had a bad experience with two of the math classes I had to take, one where the professor made up her own tests that had no bearing on the material in the online course we were taking, and one where he was just a jerk to everyone. I also had two professors who ruined two of my favorite subjects for me. (look very carefully at the rate my professor site when choosing your ENG 1B and your Poli Sci GE classes, I wish I had.) Also skip the HTP course if you get offered a slot unless you are STEM. They do not offer enough H classes in anything BUT STEM to fulfill the requirement, and that class is 3 units worth of useless busywork for a 1 unit class, plus endless on campus meetings (it's an ONLINE class) and spammy emails and pestery crap, everyday you get 3 or 4 spams from them about stuff EVEN AFTER you leave the course... and ALL the class does is show you how to fill out an application for your four year and go through a bunch of "motivational" BS. Basically it's a lot of work you probably already did because you are a "type A honors student" person, and probably do not have time to do again, because you are taking a full course load. The other giant issue, and the reason for only four stars, was this : The Financial Aid department and the A&R department here are just awful. The fed loan person was pretty competent and usually able to fix issues, but I got a very real feeling that most of the issues she fixed were some one else's mess (she helped rectify an awful lot of bad issues from the financial aid guy) The guy I dealt with in the Financial Aid office was like a hyper little speed freak who would say one thing and then do another, he never explained anything clearly or accurately, and after having him jerk my aid around for 2 years I finally escalated his incompetence to his supervisor, she found out he'd been processing me wrong for two years and fixed it, but it makes me wonder how many students he scared off and how much money he lost the college in doing so. I never saw him after that, so I don't know if he got disciplined or fired or what. I just know that after that I had no more issues with my aid money. The Admissions and Records department were not particularly friendly, although they are competent, and seem able to get their jobs done. My big problem with them was that there does not seem to be an efficient or effective way to actually get a hold of them unless you go in to the office. They do not seem to answer emails or the phone ever. and a lot of times, you have questions that do not require face to face interactions, so someone working a phone or tending their email inbox would be a really great thing. Especially in light of the fact that some pretty common questions are not answered on the website. Overall, I really enjoyed the rest of the school, the cafeteria was hit and miss, but you have to try the Mission Bistro at least once, it was really good! The campus is beautiful, and will be even more beautiful when they pull out the old building. The library is wonderful, the wifi never failed and was nice and zippy, parking permit ( for the three years I attended) was 50$ a semester or 30$ with a BOG waiver. (it was less for summer session) or 3$ per day passes. The permit is good at West Valley, too. I took a good mix of online and on campus classes and found that academic support for both was really useful and easily available. They really were an asset in getting me where I wanted to go. Tips I would offer: do the student success and bridge stuff, it really does matter to get an early registration slot. stay on top of all the deadlines and paperwork (not just for class but for A&R and Financial Aid, if something does not seem right go ask them about it and keep on it 'til they fix it. Take the assessment tests cold... don't try to cram for them. if you do not know a subject well enough without cramming for it, you are shooting yourself in the foot, placement-wise Check in with your counselor often! read more

**This review is for the cafeteria only!** I love attending Mission College but the changes to the cafeteria this school year have been absolutely awful. The service turned into crap, the cooked food is more vomit-inducing, the prices for prepared foods went up, and the staff is beyond lazy. This lady's job is to make salads and she refused to make me a Caesar's. She claimed she pre-made two of them and put them in the deli fridge. When I looked in the deli fridge, there were no Caesar's. I told her that 1001830298 times, someone must have bought them (doi!), yet she insisted that the salads were there, and sent me back to the deli fridge twice. I left the cafeteria highly irritated and salad-less. I guess she was way too busy gossiping with her friends to put some lettuce on a plate! read more

The end of this semesters marks the 4th year I have attended classes at this college, on a part-time basis. It has been a great way for me to spend my free time and I will miss going to the school during the summer! It it too bad that the summer schedule is limited but because of the funding issues, it is understandable. After handing in my last term paper this week, I realized that I am fortunate to be able to attend and learn from this great college. When I took a long walk around the campus before leaving for the semester, I finally realized that the college had a great learning environment - most of the classes were held in one central building, parking was good, faculty was dedicated to teaching, facilities were maintained well, etc. I will miss not attending the college this summer! It has been a challenging semester but it has been worth the effort and dedication. I learned so much doing the my research and writing my term paper. Additionally, I will miss being with my fellow classmates - we worked so hard on presentations for the class, and had a great time after class each week just talking to each other. Despite the increase in fees to $26 per unit, it is still a bargain for me because I found that the knowledge and enjoyment worth more compared to the fees charged. California residents have a great resource in the local colleges and, hopefully, everyone is able to take advantage of this great resource to learn something new! There are so many subjects to learn about and I just wished I could fit more into my time allotment. However, the are future semesters for more learning. I just wished that the campus was closer to home. However, it is fine for a commuter campus because my commute is just 20 minutes. Now, I am looking forward to the next semester! I have been a student here since 2008. Sounds like a loooong time! There has been so much renovation here that some places look so foreign. I have been to a couple other community colleges and this college I can say is the best. I know the community college route is and can be frustrating, even discouraging. I am an LVN trying to get into their bridge LVN to RN program. So I have had my fair share of setbacks. The admissions office was kind enough to help me jump through the certain hoops I needed to jump through in order to retake microbiology over again for a better grade. They offer night classes for those who work full time and are not able to go to day classes and for that I am so grateful. They have a variety of classes and try to accommodate everyone, including Saturday and Sunday classes. I appreciate every opportunity that Mission has offered and cannot wait to go back to school as an RN student. I would recommend this school to anyone. They are good at helping you choose the right classes and the best time to come for advice (admission or counseling) would be during or at the end of finals week. read more

Came here for an industry training last week. The location was fine. The campus was nice. I arrived at 8 am. There was plenty of parking but they made it difficult to get a parking permit. There was only one ticket machine which only took dollar bills. So you are out of luck if you only got credit cards and larger bills with you. I looked around, didn't see a change machine and nothing was open at the hour. Of course they issued a violation ticket at lightning speed and made you go to their office blah blah blah... It was more annoying than anything. Pardon my venting but look, smart businesses would go out of their way to help their customers spend money. read more

I was a student at SJSU and left because I was uncomfortable with such big classes and I wasnt doing very well. Now I am going to mission and thriving! I love the early childhood education department and love all my teachers. They care! At mission I am not a number, I am a person who gets time and attention, teachers teach!!! I need to go back to SJSU but I really don't want to, I am so happy with mission! read more

Pluses- + A lot of great teachers. They have some exceptional teachers here. + Lots of parking. There are plenty of parking lots and I've never had a problem finding parking. Compare this to De Anza which basically has no student parking, or a University with very tight parking. + Nice variety of classes to fit my schedule. They have a ton of classes and they are almost all offered online or during weekends or late hours. Perfect for full-time workers. + Great tutoring. I'm signed up for math and English tutoring, both by appointment with a private tutor and by drop-in with several tutors. All of this is provided free! + Super low fees! + Very helpful counseling/advising department. Minuses- - Several bad professors. Ok, I know that some people are going to complain about every professor and some people are going to think that professor is great. However, they have several professors who are not up to basic standards. Not moreso than any other school though. - Klunky, disjointed, hard to use online system. Needs A LOT OF WORK. This should be a no-brainer as having a useful online system saves time and money. Oh well... - Terrible bookstore. They never have the books I need, the lines are incredible, and the employees and manager are insultingly rude sometimes. They have messed up my order several times. There are some books that you HAVE to get from the campus bookstore and they really need to get their act together. - Facilities need significant work. This is an old place falling into disrepair and being augmented with portable classrooms. This is a pipe dream since they likely can not afford improvements. But still it would be such an improvement if they could clean the place up. Get some new desks. - Very hard to get a hold of people, especially admissions/records. They don't seem to have phones there and their phone system SUCKS. read more

I'm an out of state student who just moved to California 2 months before beginning my schooling at Mission College. I was hoping to go to Foothill but got the run around from them so I was directed by one of my co-workers to check out Mission. I thought it was gravy until I hit some snags this first semester with them. First of all, it was not cheap to take a part-time course load at Mission as an out of state student, upwards of $1500 for all the fees and tuition including books. They made me purchase a $100 customized textbook for my math course. Turns out the professor failed to let us know on her syllabus that we wouldn't even be needing a hard copy of the textbook. Ok, so I was advised about a week before classes started and was told I had a 4 year math course on my transcript (from the other state I lived in) and that I could take ANY math I chose. I was ill-advised by that exaggerated statement because I chose a math course that was much too hard and over my head. I decided to take Intermediate Algebra with Mindy Joh. Apparently, this prof expects students to dedicate between 15 to 24 hours a week on math homework and studying. This is RIDICULOUS! I work a full-time job...I understand going to school is much like working but alas, I need a school that is willing to work with people who WORK in the outside world. I thought Mission was that kind of a school but apparently not. So now, here I am, about a month into the semester and I'm finding that I'm going to fail the math course. So I'm going to withdraw but no other classes are accepting people in because it's too far along in the semester and so what happens? Despite Mission JUST NOW releasing my financial aid PELL GRANT to me (I've never had a school take this long to disperse financial aid funds) - now I'm going to have to return all of the grant back to them and they get to keep $1200 dollars of my money because guess what?! They only have a drop for refund period for the FIRST WEEK of school. This is the most criminal, ridiculous awful system I've ever seen for a college. I DEFINITELY don't recommend this school to anyone but especially to those seeking to go to college for the first time or from out of state. Wait until you're a resident if you can. I screwed up but I also got screwed over by this school and I'm not a happy camper. *goes to cry in my cheerios* read more

So the one star is unfortunately for the Admission and Records office. Over the last couple years that I've been attending Mission College there's always some bump in the road for me at the Admission and Records office. It's really annoying. I always make copies of my forms because somehow they always happen to lose it. On top of that some of the faculty members seem to not care about us. They don't care about the students. In my perception I feel like they only care about their paycheck. There was this one time in the beginning of this spring semester I had to turn in a form for my associate degree for transfer form and an academic renewal form and the petite Filipino woman who helped me was in such a rush to go on lunch. She basically put my papers into this pile on a chair and tried to leave. I had to tell her excuse me, I need copies of my papers AND she was the one who asked me if I wanted copies... I get it you're hungry and it's lunch time but please do your job. This is my education and you're not gonna mess that up. There was another time they lost my petition reinstatement and I was not able to register for classes. I come into the office and ask why is my registration date Dec 31 2099. The nice woman who helped tells me l, "Oh there's a hold on your account." Basically she couldn't figure out why there was a hold, so she brought this issue to the man who had in office in the back in the old main building. He did some research and basically said you can not register because you're on academic renewal. I had to tell him that's impossible because I turned in that form last semester. He basically told me if I had the proof, I need to bring it back. I was so mad because how do you lose these things? I know it's possible for them to lose things, but sadly that was another negative thing to add to my list. In my time of being at Mission College it hasn't been totally negative. There has been good experiences. In the last 2-3 years I got to experience having wonderful teachers and counselors. If you are wondering who to take I suggest Qiana Houston, Tara Hardinge, Donnelle McGee, Calvin Beckum, Nita Esparza, and Kathryn Wood. These teachers have made an impact on my school life. If you're looking for a counselor I would suggest Theresa Lockheed or Rebecca Tran, they're awesome, nice, and super friendly! Other than the major issue everything else is great in my opinion. I think Mission College is slowly getting better for the students. When I say that I mean they're creating new buildings, they're more eco friendly, they have charging stations for cars, they're creating more places for students to sit and relax. I hope it gets even better for the future students. read more

Great little community college! Staff and counselors are super helpful. Place is not as crowded like other CCs usually are, which means it is always easy to find a parking. They also have many crash course programs which get you in and out to your field of choice. If you plan on attending any CC, definitely give Mission a try! read more
