I came here because a lot of people said it's the best red velvet in town . However the red velvet cake was really dry . The frosting was pretty good tho . The veggie sandwich was ok too . Nothing crazy . However I am giving four stars because the carrot cake was VERY good ! I would definitely go back for the carrot cake .

Dan The Cookie Man is awesome! If you haven't tried his stuff, you don't know what you're missing. I especially like his Black Bottom cupcakes which are to die for! Dense double chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.. mmm.... *drools*. Or a fluffier Red Velvet cake/cupcake with cream cheese frosting... or the absolutely amazing carrot cake... or the large soft (and NOT crunchy) bitter Double Chocolate cookies.... The cafe itself offers a variety of awesome looking dishes such as sandwiches and salads but I haven't tried them because I'm always tempted by the cupcakes, pies and cookies.

Ok, let me tell you first that i'm VERY picky with sweets and baking goods! This place has a very nice red velvet cake (and it's actually very famous for it) and it's delicious, of course. I think it's rather heavy though, and the frosting can be a bit overwhelming, but if you are sharing one piece with someone, you can easily make it! :) So far, it's the best red velvet dessert I've tasted here. They also have other pies, and I've only tried the red velvet cake and the lemon meringue pie, and the lemon pie was average, but flavourful. They had a cheesecake I currently have my eye on, and it looked SO good. Very fluffy and still thick somehow, just how I like it. They have a great tea selection and good coffee. The interior is super cosy, which I love, and it's great for some sit-down with a friend or boyfriend, and people watching, relaxing... And having some cake! I'll be going back for sure, probably to eat more red velvet cake as I've no self-control! And the service was super-friendly!

One of the nicest places in the center to have a coffee with a cake. De Drie Graafjes is known for the best of the best cupcakes, cakes, pies, cookies, muffins and brownies. Think about: carrot cake, New York style cheesecake, Red Velvet cake, Lemon meringue pie, Traditional Apple pie, White chocolate macadamia nuts cookies, Chocolate chip walnuts cookies, Raspberry cheesecake muffin and ... more. Besides all these yummyness, there are lot's of sandwiches and breads for lunch. And everything is baked in the American Bakery next door, where you can also order to go (like I did for my birthday lately). Squeezed in between the little streets in the center, behind the Dam square, just of the busiest shopping street of Amsterdam (Nieuwe Dijk) and just across the back of de Nieuwe Kerk, You could not find a better place to drink your coffee and eat you came. Check it out!

Moist carrot cake: with more spices please :-) still very good!

Amazing chocolate swirl cheesecake - very dense, fresh tasting. The carrot cake was very moist and very good but a bit more spices would have made it even better. It almost tasted like fruit cake because of the lack of spices. Loved the cream cheese thick icing though! The mint tea is refreshing, served with big mint leaves. Friendly service. Good views on the street from upstairs. I recommend this bakery for an afternoon snack and the sandwiches for lunch looked delish as well! Note: be careful in the stairs going up. Very high, tiny steps and very steep!

This is the club sandwich pollo with lettuce, avocado and of course chicken. Good size and a royal filling.

I sat down here for lunch and a cup of coffee. It is a very nice, old, and authentic place and is located a bit off of the beaten path. I had a club sandwich pollo which had a good amount of chicken, avocado, and lettuce on it. Taste was quite good. I ordered the sandwich on dark bread with which I was not very impressed by the taste of the bread. Also ordered a latte macchiato that taste nice and creamy. Staff was friendly.

    BALT club sandwich

Really good place and nice smiling staff. I took the BALT club sandwich and a carrot cake, everything was so delicious ! The cakes are amazing but just a little tip, don't go there unless you are really hungry because you're gonna want to try everything

Spent 3 days in Amsterdam and visited this bakery & cafe 3 times! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! Enough said.

The service was Really Good But I expected more from the cake than I've experienced. I ordered the red velvet cake and the cake was a little dry. The frosting was very good do. But I couldn't eat to much of it. The sandwich was. Very good with the smoked chicken.

If it rains. Coffee and sweets. :)

My favourite place to lunch in Amsterdam. The red velvet cake and the American Club Sandwich are the best.

Although the pastries in general are ok the service is just plain horrible and rude even for Dutch standards.

I was thinking of picking up a few breakfast treats and came across this bakery on my way back to…read moremy hotel. The pastries caught my eye in the glass case. There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

She also handled the pastries and slices of cakes, the glass displays, and credit cards without washing her hands at any point. Who knows what's on my bagel at this point. None of their displays also have prices. You have to ask for it, which I find inconvenient. My bagel cream cheese salmon was okay. The bagel tasted a smidge stale. The cream cheese and veggies tasted good. The salmon was a bit off. It is in a convenient location though.

This neighborhood is packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and coffeeshops and young people who party late into the night. I think we were the first customers to show up when they opened for business at 9:00 AM on Sunday. The counter was packed with beautiful looking, freshly baked European breakfast pastries. Two cappuccinos, two raisin snails and two little tarts stuffed with almond paste were more than enough... It's a wonderful place for a quick snack or a delicious start to the day.

So delicious, fresh, and definitely popular since they didn't have it on days when I stopped in after 12pm. The cookies were also amazing. Tried a bunch of flavors, and every one was on point. The waffle, however, was the best thing I've eaten in Amsterdam all week. Had to go with the chocolate covered version, and it did not disappoint. The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine. I will definitely be back, just for this, but next time after a long jog.
