The ham Croissant was soggy with one piece of Ham. The display is awesome, The bakery is medium good.
Loved the churros...friendly and lively atmosphere. The desserts were as delicious as they looked!
The food here is amazing and well prepared. I was initially hesitant to try the hot dog as I am not a fan of American hot dogs, but after trying it I can say it was a thousand times better than that. Also was able to sample their salmon wrap and even the simple wrap was delicious.
Ordered: Churros (~€5): with Nutella & powdered sugar Poffertjes (~€5): with Strawberry Aya's take: We were in the mood for a quick dessert and found ourselves at Rene's Croissants. It was super busy but we placed our order on the kiosk and waited. If you're coming here for anything, let it be the Churros. They're freshly made and smell delicious. The Nutella also adds that rich hazelnut taste to go along with the cinnamon sugar. Such a good combination! The Poffertjes were nothing special - get the Churros!
Why Have You Not Already Gone here? Hurry! Don't sleep on this baked good experience...on the way TO the square, on the way back. In the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening. Oh gosh there are SO MANY TREATS here and all of them are amazing. Pro tip: order online at the kiosks on the left side of the entrance and these treats can be YOURS, to go!
So many sweet options makes it hard to pick one thing. This sweet little shop is open late until 2am if you're out late and want a treat. Service was excellent, the girls behind the counter were welcoming and friendly. I tried the "Luikse Wafel Aadbei Met Slagroom" (a chocolate covered waffle topped with whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate flakes) along with hot chocolate and everything was great!
Stopped by for a quick treat on my birthday. I had a custard and strawberry filled croissant and it was excellent! The service was quick even though it was quite busy.
This is in the main touristy area and is over run with tourists but still worth the stop. They have a lot of different dessert options. I decided to get churros with white chocolate and Nutella. I figured I deserved it since I was walking so much. It was worth the 15-minute wait and quite good. The guy who made it was fun. He was very cheerful, winking and cracking jokes with everyone.
THE GREATEST CHURROS YOU WILL EVER EAT IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. I stood in the rain/cold outside for these (several days in a row in fact bc i obviously went everyday i was in Amsterdam) and I would do it again. I can't emphasize enough that they are the best I've never had. I've eaten more churros than I care to admit and this is literally the best one. Go there. Eat it. Live your life to the fullest.
Great desserts! The pecan roll was amazing, went back the second day to get more. Jelly filled sugar donut was good as well as the apple turnover/flip. Highly recommend.
I like this place. They are so nice here, welcomed me with a smile, and they didn't rush me or skip over me when I didn't have a straight answer for what I wanted by the time I got to the counter. You'd think after waiting in a long line I would have figured it out but everything looked like a 'yes' and I couldn't find anything to dump in the 'no' pile. I just couldn't decide between Nutella crepes, Rene's Croissants, or Nutella Churros. If I spent a bit longer in local 'coffeeshops' I may have gotten all three (if you know what I mean), but for now, I had to choose one. I always prefer a chocolatey something so Nutella Churros it is! I watched them fry the churros, place them in the paper cone, and add the Nutella like it was a magic show-- yes I said the ooohhh's and aaahhh's. I've always been a fan of places where you can watch your food being made and you can sit or stand there and watch as they make a performance out of your order. Cool. Fresh, hot, and soft on the inside, a toasted warm crisp on the outside drizzled with hot Nutella perfection. Oh, I'm melting! Everyone in line with me says the Rene Croissant is perfection and so are the crepes. I trust them and will go back for them next time. You gotta stop by here at least once during your stay!

Drawing customers near Amsterdam's Red Light District since 1979 anyone who claims Rene's Croissanterie is not a tourist trap has probably spent too long in a Coffee Shop, the combination of late hours and fair prices universally popular while high volume assures items are mostly fresh. An ambitious line-up, everything from Sausage Rolls to Churros plus made-to-order Crepes available via touch-screen ordering, limited seating sees most guests dining in the streets outside where people watching proves highly entertaining. Not remotely artisan, more so Street Food made with a little more care than elsewhere in De Wallen, Rene's Stroopwafel comes topped for €10 and proves just average while the Liege Waffle is properly made with Pearl Sugar within but a bit too sweet thanks to added Confectioner's Sugar on top. read more

Too good! Grabbed a pastry here one morning to bring back to my hotel room for breakfast. I figured I should try some sort of croissant, given the name of the restaurant. I got the one with custard and strawberries and it did not disappoint! read more
Dreamy places for churros!! It's definitely a thing. Witnessed huge crowds eating them And I tried them too. It was soft and sweetest churros ever. Unfortunately the next day they didn't accept cards and only cash. You can also try the macroons and croissants. read more

I'm not entirely sure where to start with Rene's Croissants, except for the fact it's definitely NOT just a place for croissants and that if you wanna embrace your inner fat kid that you have found your home. Yes, I was certainly tempted to try that churro slathered with Nutella, but even that was a bit aggressive for me. Settled for a crepe with Nutella and strawberries covered powdered sugar. In a bit of intentional understatement here, let's just say that you get your money's worth and then some. There's a lot of great food spots in the general vicinity. So if you're looking for a dessert spot after, this is the place to go for sure! read more
Good coffee (comes with a mini stroopwafel!). I tried a churro sample, and it was absolutely delicious and fresh. Uien kruier (cheese and onion) pastry was novel/interesting to me and was pretty good but definitely very onion-y. I doubt it was fresh, since I got it from the glass case when the shop first opened in the morning. Still a pretty cool Dutch party experience. read more
This place is down the street from the hotel I'm staying at and highly addictive. I come for the churros, the only thing I've tried here and also seem to be the favorite with most from people watching. I get mine covered in White chocolate drizzle and they are my absolute late night guilty pleasure. They're made to order so fresh and hot, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Sheesh, it's like I struck late night munchie gold but a nightmare at the same time having this place in such short walking distance! I can't stop buying them. Try them, you will love. read more
This place is awesome, especially for a late night snack as you're wandering the streets of Amsterdam... I have been to this location a couple of times and have yet to be disappointed. Just to summarize the items that are awesome based on my experience: Apple beignets are solid, crepes are fresh and tasty, donuts are great warm and the waffles are top notch! I would recommend stopping by this place is you're craving something sweet and/or you're doing the late night walk through the city... We stopped by here for a quick breakfast and honestly didn't expect much when we arrived. But then ended up eating breakfast there the next two days before we left because we liked it so much. The OJ, cheese croissants, and the danish fried dough balls (I don't recall the real name) we're sooo yummy. You have to try them warmed! read more
The best waffles I've had are certainly found in Europe, and this place is certainly why. I ordered a chocolate covered waffle with fresh cream on top. Wow. The cows here must be treated like kings if they're making cream like this. It's not as if this place is high-end or boasting about their fresh cream either, it's just the standard here. Definitely go for what you think would suit your tastes, because I revisited shortly after and ordered a strawberry custard which was not suited for me. The Dutch pancakes, Pannekoek, superb. Better than any stinking Beignet I've had, that's for sure. It's not only doughy and hot, but slightly eggy and the sweet honey on top really finishes it off. My friend ordered these exclusively, and I'm not surprised. We came here twice during our short trip. read more

If you love sweet treats, then you'll love this place! They do everything from Cheesecake to Churros to Sweet Waffles. All are beautifully presented and delicious to eat! Staff are friendly and the place is always busy, at any time of day or night. The only downside is that this place is very much a tourist trap. The desserts are very expensive (around £6 per dish) compared to elsewhere in Amsterdam, and the shop also charges 45c to use a credit card - something that is not commonplace for other Amsterdam traders. If you're comfortable paying a "tourist tax" then you'll love the sweet treats this place offers! read more
Had to try churros here since everyone was eating it. How was it? I loved that it's fresh (deep fry it on the spot) but I really wanted to have churros with fillings! They also have samples on the counter so go for those! I ordered the churros with nutella and they pumped nutella on the top. So the middle pieces don't really have much of any nutella and the top pieces have too many. read more

OH MY GOSH. This place. Rene... sweet sweet Rene. Thank you for your service to my, oh-so-prevalent sugar addiction. We visited Amsterdam recently and stopped at Rene's on our first day. I started off with a chocolate croissant that was excellent! In fact, it was so good.. that we had to go back the next day to try more. This time I got the nutella donut... and this was probably the best nutella donut I've ever had. They did not skimp on the filling, and the sugar coating was excellent. The donut itself was fresh and so soft. Also as a bonus.. they accept credit card! (for a small fee). All I know is that when I find myself back in Amsterdam... my first stop will be at Rene's:). read more
Came here for some late night churros. The line was very disorganized couldn't tell where it started or ended. Got to the counter was able to order. I ordered the churros with chocolate and powdered sugar. After seeing the generous amount they put on top of the churros I asked for them to please add the chocolate in a cup on the side in order to be able to dip the churros. Also very nice that you can see them freshly make batches of churros. All in all I really enjoyed the churros not too hard and not too soft read more
