This is my 5 star review for Four Paws Doggie Day Camp!…read more I have had dogs for years and have tried almost every doggie day care and boarding facility in Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch. They were all okay and basically the same. The dogs milled around staff who often weren't paying them much attention, there was crowding of dogs in spaces so small that getting good exercise was difficult. Staffing was difficult and often staff didn't stay very long. BUT, I discovered Four Paws Doggie Day Camp, on Gates Creek Road. Heike and her loyal, well trained and friendly staff have created an environment in which dogs thrive! There is lots of room to run, play, socialize and learn good behavior. Big dogs and little dogs have their own fenced in spaces. Each group gets individual attention and lots of affection. There are many little pools for a quick dip and multiple shady places for a little nap out of the sun. It's a dog paradise! Heike and her team will help with behavioral issues, too. When I had an issue with Buddy, Heike and her staff worked with him and with me closely. I learned so much about him that I never knew! These folks are kind and compassionate in their care and discipline.

Our girl has learned to be a kind and reliable playmate with their encouragement and direction. She loves to run with her pals across green, well cared for fields and always under supervision. Heike, the owner, shares her training insights and helps to curb possible bad habits, making sure that all the pups are healthy and play well with one another. The staff is watchful and kind, well trained too and I feel completely comfortable leaving our girl for 2 hours or the whole day, she is never bored! Not only did they visit us in our home to get introduced, Elaine also had us bring him to her place for a preview of where he would be staying. He had a wonderful weekend and so did we, knowing that he was being well taken care of. This place is by far the worst Kennel I have ever taken my dog to. They are very unorganized how…read morethey run their operation, to start they don't send any confirmation for your reservation and when I asked who would you like me to send the vaccinations to, they said you can email them, when I asked for their email address they said i can find it on their website, so instead of giving it to me i went and looked it up on their website and found the email address so i sent the vaccines to them in the email i asked them to respond that they received them, I got no response. When I brought the dog in (I was hoping that I still had a reservation since they didn't confirm anything) I brought a hard copy of vaccines to make sure they had them, I asked the owner Jeff if he received them, he acted like he had no idea what i was talking about, I then proceded to ask if they could bathe my dog before pickup at 11:00 am he said no problem. So when my wife went to pick him up he was soaking wet not just from the bath but they put him back into kennel run while it was still raining. My dog is a wheaten Terrier and the worse thing you can do to a wheaten is leave him wet because they can matte very easily. so when my wife called me upset because he was so wet I called the Kennel and asked to speak to the owner and the girl at the kennel that answered said he wasnt available. she then said "your wife was not very happy so i figured you would call" so I asked why would you not blow dry my dog? instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding she blamed us for not paying extra for blow drying services. I tried to explain to her that was never offered to me and if it was i would have paid the extra fee. She said i basically should know what services were available (fyi it says nothing about blow dryin or any other details on their website and this is the first kennel that has not dried my dog after bathing him) so after telling me its my fault I became even more frustrated with the situation and my voice began to raise higher and i said this is fricking ridiculous and she hung up on me so I called back thinking maybe we were disconnected somehow. she verified she hung up on me so i yelled this is totally unprofessioonal and she hung on me again. At this point i was just going to move on and never use them again. but a few hours later the owner Jeff called me, I answered it thinking we could talk and work this out. he proceded to start yelling at me and accuse me of using profanities at his employee , when i tried to tell him i escalated my voice but never used profanities he would not let me speak and kept telling me i did use profanities he then told me I can never use his kennel again (oh my what will i ever do) and hung up on me. to be honest I did then call him back and tell he can go f himself and hung up on him.in conclusion all they had to do was apologize for the miscommunication and move on, if they treat me this way who knows how they treated my dog while he stayed at their facility. and any reputable kennel would know you dont send a dog like a wheaten home soaking wet
