We must have tried over 10 different wine and Johnathan made it so enjoyable and even gave names to some wine. So 10 tasting later my GF walked out with a membership and 6 bottles of wine. My GF like the one Johnathan called Sean Connery so much! I purchased that for her as late birthday gift. Come all and try this place out and give Johnathan a holler! Nice tasting room knowledge guy and plenty of room.

We visited there on the recommendation from a sommelier in Paso Robles based on their excellent sparkling wines. You have choice of ordering a glass of any of the wines or the tasting flight. My partner decided to go with a glass of the Brut Rose whilst I chose the tasting flight (5 wines for $40). All of the wines here are expertly made and of a beautiful style. I can't say there wasn't a wine here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The Brut Rose is a beautiful champagne style rose. The Rose of Pinot Noir was also excellent. A fantastic light yet flavorful wine. The chardonnay was also excellent and of a beautiful style with just a touch of oak. Next was their Passetoutgrain, which is a blend of gamay noir and pinot noir. Also in the tasting were two pinot noirs, the base pinot noir and the El Bec. Both were beautiful expressions of pinot noir. Wonderful balance of fruit, earth and spice. Finally, we had to try the Brut Cuvee, which is only offered by the glass. A truly beautiful wine reminiscent of the Champagne region. Service was from a couple of friendly and very knowledgeable attendants. The glassware here is beautiful and perfect for the wine served. The wines were all served at the proper temperature. And the pours were of a generous volume such that you could fully experience the wines. If you're in Carmel, you owe it to yourself to visit Caraccioli.

This was true for both the reds and the whites. The charcuterie and cheese pairing was also disappointing, especially when compared to Napa, where tastings often feature thoughtfully curated cheeses and meats paired with each wine. That said, the staff were very kind and informative. They explained each wine carefully and in an engaging way, which definitely helped make the experience enjoyable overall. Ultimately, though, the wines themselves were underwhelming and none of them really WOW'd us. They also felt a bit overpriced per bottle (~75$) especially considering you can easily find excellent wines at Napa vineyards for a better value.

Yet another example of a larger business buying and closing down the competition, thereby taking away another option for the consumer as well as eliminating the experience and enjoyment of a quality wine. I HATE GALLO FOR THIS!!

I recently visited the De Tierra tasting room with a group of three, eagerly anticipating our first experience there. Unfortunately, the visit fell short of expectations due to the service we received. Upon entering, we were met with silence and had to find our own seats, which was an unexpected start. When we were ready for our tasting, our server brought out the tasting notes and the wine cylinders but offered no guidance or explanation about the wines. Instead, her only instruction was, "You can educate yourselves." As someone who is not new to wine tasting, I found this approach confusing and quite off-putting. Isn't part of the experience meant to include insights and recommendations from the host? As I observed other groups that arrived after us, I noticed a stark difference in their treatment. They were greeted warmly, seated promptly, and given a thorough overview of the wines and the winery's history. This inconsistency in service left me feeling overlooked and unvalued as a customer. Moreover, I couldn't shake the feeling that our group might have been treated differently because we are people of color, especially since the majority of the clientele that day were Caucasian. This added an uncomfortable layer to an already disappointing experience. While the wines themselves may have been pleasant, the lack of attentive service and the feeling of being marginalized overshadowed the tasting. I hope that De Tierra can address these issues to ensure that all guests feel welcomed and valued, regardless of their background. I'm not sure if I would return, but I hope others have a better experience than we did. read more

De Tierra Vineyards is a local winery with estates just a few miles from this Carmel tasting room. I have long been a fan of their estates and am a member of their wine club, so I was delighted to pay a visit to their tasting room. The staff are friendly and knowledgable - its a great place to learn about the local terroir and taste what makes Monterey wine so special. The various estates under De Tierra have been producing the regions best organic wines for many years. I highly recommend a visit to their tasting room, and the wine club is a great deal as well! read more

Such a fun tasting room visit...the best experience and we received personalized service from the owner. We had such a great visit that we ended up signing up for their twice a year wine club. We walked out with a Pinot Noir and a Rose to start and look forward to our next shipment. Definitely worth a visit to this great tasting room! We had the pleasure of stopping into De Tierra Wine Tasting Room on a Friday evening and happened to catch part of their trivia night. Although our time was short due to a dinner reservation, we had an absolutely splendid experience. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the staff was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. Highly recommend making this a stop if you're in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We'll definitely be back for a longer visit next time! read more
