We came to celebrate Mother's Day at this winery and left deeply disappointed. First, we waited 15 minutes to be seated, even though about half of the tables were empty. Then we sat at our table for another 20 minutes without a single staff member approaching us -- not even to say hello, ask whether we wanted a tasting, a bottle of wine, or some food. At one point, two employees spent several minutes opening an umbrella for a nearby table. Honestly, that umbrella received more attention than we did. The servers were actively working with neighboring groups, often with their backs to us, and there was no opportunity even to wave someone down. Eventually, one employee briefly told us, "I'll be right with you, we're short staffed," but it didn't sound apologetic at all. He immediately started a tasting for another group, poured them wine, and disappeared again without taking our order or even asking how we were doing. If you are understaffed on a busy holiday like Mother's Day, customers should be warned about the expected wait time in advance. There are many wineries in the area, and no matter how beautiful the location is, the service completely ruined the experience for us. In the end, we simply got up and left -- and there wasn't even anyone available to speak to about it.

Folktale was sadly a huge disappointment. Folktale is a beautiful place and the charcuterie boards were excellent, however, the customer service was underwhelming. We were looking forward to great service, nice wine, and a relaxing ambiance. Instead we were given a server who was dry, rude and vague when explaining the wine. He was chit chatting the ENTIRE time with his coworkers and other tables but seemed to avoid us? The time between the pours was ridiculously long.

Beautiful setup and they have live music at Sunday brunch. Service was very good. Plenty of water supply and they take photos for you. We had a brunch reservation and it was dining outdoor in the backyard. We were lucky that it was a very sunny and warm day, but as we linger, it got hotter and hotter and no umbrella can do the shielding. I wish that we could be seated in the glass ceiling indoor area where you got the light but not the heat. We tried the Signature Flight where I did not try all the wine but the estate Chardonnay was decent, not the oaky creamy kind but with a crisp taste; it was perfect for a hot day. For food, we had the artichoke dip, the chef's mind flat bread, which was BBQ brisket with pickled onions, French toast and the Bigoli Pasta Bolognese. Overall it was too much carb for us. The artichoke dip was very very creamy and rich, which is good for the thick bread as it needs a thick texture to absorb the richness. The brisket and pickled onion flatbread is good, but I wish it had a bit more meat as the meat was too finely chopped. The pasta had an interesting shape like thick round spaghetti. I did not try the French toast but the fruit on top was fresh. The facility was clean and well decorated for the season. Next time I should try their red wine. Interestingly, by the time we left which was around 12:30 their gate was closing. Live band music stops at 1pm, so not sure if there's no more wine tasting afterwards or they just open by reservation only.

I was in the area for a birthday solo trip and this had popped up on social media. I decided to stop in after a hike in Point Lobos nearby and showed up around noon on a Monday. I was quoted a 30 minute wait only because they were catching up with the wait staff, but seated me within 15 minutes. Everyone was seated outside because it was a lovely, gorgeous sunny day. There are bees and other insects nearby due to the pretty garden nearby, and I did end up using my little clipboard of my wine tasting menu to nudge them away. My waitress was fantastic and she gave me amazing recommendations. I tried one of the wine tastings and she gave me an extra tasting of their most popular wine because I had said it was my first time here! What a nice surprise! She recommended both the Roasted Cauliflower salad and the Castroville Artichoke dip. Let me tell you. The food and the wine were very good, but the artichoke dip was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I'm still thinking about it a few weeks later. It's literally the best artichoke dip I've ever had and my waitress laughed and said that's something she hears very often. Artichoke flavor was perfect, the creaminess was perfect, the toasted pieces of bread were perfect!!!! I mentioned this place to a few friends but said that if we went together, we'll have to order at least two because one whole artichoke dip will be for me. Definitely recommend. Wish I lived closer so I could experience the live music they have!

We stopped at Folktale Winery as we were touring the area for possible wedding venue locations. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy, yet we were lucky to walk in and get a table outside where our dog could chill. I liked the menu, but we only had time for a cheese and charcuterie board. Seating is spaced throughout the area indoor and out.

A girlfriend is a club member and made a reservation for 2pm on a Saturday to celbebrate my Birthday. We were seated right away at a table outside with bench seat style, far enough from the live music, and under partial shade which was great since the sun was beaming. We were greeting right away by a familiar server of my friends, his name Amir, where he brought some Rose to start with. I am not normally partial to Rose, but was actually very good. Amir was very attentive and although he had other tables we never waited long for him to return and really enjoyed his humor and outgoing personality. He made several wine and menu selections, which ended up being great advice as we absolutely LOVED all the wine and food that came out. For wine we both settled on the Hound, which was a very smooth bourdeaux blend, very nice! For food we had the artichoke dip, Mind of a Chef flatbread and shared the Crush burger, substituted caesar salad instead of chips. When I tell you I say the food was hands down top notch, melt in your mouth good, doesn't get any better, zero complaints!! EVERYTHING was so delicious!! Then Amir even brought a Birthday dessert, with a candle and sang Happy Birthday with my friend. It was a chocolate dessert and very tasty! The ambiance is charming, the service Amir provided was perfect, and the food was phenominal! The manager even stopped by to check on how our service was and couldn't rave enoigh how great Amir was. THIS is the type of establishment that would earn a membership from me or at least repeat visits, eventhough I don't live very close. They are doing everything right and I highly recommend!

Man oh man, i don't know where to start. First off- if you look at my profile/reviews, i RARELY post poor reviews, I usually just think it is a waste of effort. But for this one I feel like I am doing everyone thinking of coming here for food a disservice. They are renovating so I can understand the limited menu, but to serve BOXED LUNCHES and charge $22 for them is an actual robbery. Everything they offer is refrigerated and prepped a day or so ahead of time. In my opinion, if you are going to change your food quality THAT MUCH, you MUST warn your customers that their meal will be coming in a box, wrapped from this morning or morning previous, not heated and come with kettle brand chips in the bag. The veggie mushroom sandwich was near inedible. The squash was hard, the bread was so stale and soggy as if it had been sitting in the fridge for days (go figure because it was), and the "side of fruit" is a literal 8oz cup of store bought pineapple chunks (STILL IN THE CONTAINER WITH BEST BEFORE DATE). MAN COME ON. $31 for a soggy cold san which, bag of store bough chips and a cup of pineapple is actual insanity and I highly encourage this restaurant to advertise this before they continue to rip people off. Of course the charm of folktale is in the venue, which is still very nice though they are under construction. Basically if you are planning on eating while you sip, DONT- go somewhere else until their full kitchen opens up in June. Highly recommend eating beforehand.

Nick was the most amazing and attentive sommelier! Love his knowledge and kindness went beyond. He spoiled us and the food was amazing too! We celebrated our friends 40th and it was so memorable! Most of us became members and can't wait to come back!

This place is so cute!! The outdoor area is spacious and it seems to be dog friendly since we saw a couple dogs! We came on a Saturday afternoon and we also got to see some live music. I'm not big on wine so I can't speak to that, but the food here was so good! I'm not sure how often they change the menu but I was already planning my next trip here when we left because I couldn't stop thinking about the artichoke dip and the sweet heat flatbread!!

Folktale was a lovely winery. The ambiance is extremely nice and the entire outdoor dining space is very pretty with lighting from the valley and the beautiful flowers. Our server Andy was exceptional and gave us nothing but the best service. The Syrah we had was rich and dark, and a large glass of it. The wine went perfect with our food. The artichoke dip was the best I had ever had, with perfectly toasted bread that was crunchy yet soft. This was the star of the show for sure. The Margherita pizza was delicious, but nothing special. The crust was large and the sauce not very generously dosed. I wouldn't recommend it to avid pizza lovers. Overall our evening was fantastic! Would come back for sure.

Not very nice since you can't go in the front anymore and the area for guests is about half the size. So the wait times are up but they made it seem like they might let in you in if you were any sort of member. Hostess seemed annoyed when we got there. After this I checked their page to see the reviews with the past two months and noticed the way they respond to complaints basically the same way every time. But the wording was odd. So I ran it through an AI text detector and turns out it's 91% AI. So this makes then out to seem uncaring, lazy, and less intelligent. I mean who can't write five sentences by thinking with their brain right? Definitely not the same as it was a few years ago.

From the food to their indoor lounge area, and the outdoor patio to their delicious wines, this place was hitting all the right notes. When we arrived in the late afternoon it was very sunny, but it had been raining all morning, which gave their outdoor space a gorgeous sparkle. We only had access to the Wine Garden menu, and a majority of these items are set up to be shared. We went with a crunchy cauliflower and the Mediterranean Dream flatbread pizza. We thought the crunchy cauliflower was just OK, definitely needed salt and a few other herbaceous elements. The Mediterranean Dream flatbread was delicious! A lightly sauced, soft piece of flatbread topped with beef kofta, cheese, and fresh arugula. We were told that this is a menu favorite and within our first bite, we found out why. I initially paired this with a Folktale Winery sparkling rosé, but moved to their riesling and it paired much better with the meal. We love the reason so much in fact that we purchased a bottle to sip at our hotel. The service here was amazing and there were all very informative about the wines. This venue also host weddings, and any other large scale event you may be looking to plan. Definitely a must stop for anyone who enjoys a relaxing sip of wine and gorgeous views from their outdoor patio.

One of the best experiences I've had at a winery, hands down! What a beautiful place to sit and have a glass of wine with your girlfriends! We opted for this activity on a Monday afternoon, after having brunch and exploring a bit in Carmel. At first, it was just my two girls who ordered one of the wine tastings, but by the end of it, I had a few glasses myself (and if that doesn't tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves... LOL). Responsibly, we ordered a charcuterie board and a flatbread to eat with our wine. We sat at a table with some shade, so the temperature was perfect that day. Sunny, but also a little breezy. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine! Also, the company that came along with it. I wish I could remember his name, but our server was the best! He was attentive, conversed with us throughout our entire visit, and honestly was a source of pure entertainment. We really appreciated him taking care of our loud, silly selves! On our way out, a friend on mine grabbed a bottle of the rose we had (same rose that I had a few glasses of). Absolutely delicious. I would definitely make a trip back down here just for this winery!

Next was their Passetoutgrain, which is a blend of gamay noir and pinot noir. Also in the tasting were two pinot noirs, the base pinot noir and the El Bec. Both were beautiful expressions of pinot noir. Wonderful balance of fruit, earth and spice. Finally, we had to try the Brut Cuvee, which is only offered by the glass. A truly beautiful wine reminiscent of the Champagne region. Service was from a couple of friendly and very knowledgeable attendants. The glassware here is beautiful and perfect for the wine served. The wines were all served at the proper temperature. And the pours were of a generous volume such that you could fully experience the wines. If you're in Carmel, you owe it to yourself to visit Caraccioli.

5 Stars - A Truly Wonderful Tasting Room and Incredible Community Partners!…read moreWe had the pleasure of visiting Caraccioli Cellars in charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, and it quickly became one of our favorite stops. The tasting room is absolutely wonderful--intimate, cozy, and beautifully designed with a sleek, modern cellar vibe. The striking Perota wood bar, warm ambient lighting, and inviting seating options make you feel right at home while sipping on their elegant sparkling wines and exceptional Pinot Noirs. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate, turning every tasting into a memorable experience. Whether you're a bubbly lover or exploring their still wines, the quality shines through with every pour. It's the perfect sophisticated yet relaxed spot right in the heart of downtown Carmel. What truly stood out to us was how generously Caraccioli Cellars supported our Signature Day Spa during our recent ribbon-cutting celebration for the stunning new location in Carmel Plaza. They went above and beyond to help make the event so special and successful--what an amazing community partner! The turnout was incredible, and their involvement added that extra touch of elegance and warmth. Thank you so much, Caraccioli Cellars team! We can't recommend your tasting room highly enough, and we're so grateful for your kindness and support. We'll be back soon for more of those delicious wines--and maybe a spa day paired with a bottle to take home. Cheers! -- Tonya & the Signature Day Spa Team

If you are considering Holly Farm as the venue for your wedding, and you just want the tl;dr, then…read morehere are my three most important suggestions for you: 1) You should absolutely go with Holly Farm. 2) You should accept every piece of advice Erin, Ryan, and the rest of the incredible team have for you along the way. 3) You should start getting excited right now about La Creme because their food is out of this world. Picking Holly Farm as our venue was the first choice we made in our wedding planning process, and trust me when I say that it was by far the best one. The pictures speak for themselves, and yes, it's as amazing as it looks (though if you haven't visited, you should take the excuse - it's truly stunning in person), but the real game changer is the team. The Holly Farm fam has been at this for decades, and it SHOWS. They cater to your needs and your vision, whether you want to be super hands on and into the nitty gritty on everything, or whether you want somebody to completely take the reins for you. We were so so appreciative for Erin's help during the planning process; any time we were stuck on something, she had a recommendation ready that was never just "off the shelf". We didn't want to be totally consumed by wedding planning all the time, and even though Erin had a big list of vendors ready to go, we were more than happy to listen every time she said "here's the 2 who I think you guys would love". It's really really telling to me that every single vendor we spoke to - without exception, including the ones we didn't end up choosing - all said some version of the same thing: "oh man I LOVE doing weddings at Holly Farm". Here's what I'll say about the weekend itself - it truly feels like you are staying at a luxury resort where you and your friends are the only guests. The entire staff is so attentive, so friendly, and they take care of all the details and logistics so that your only job really is to just enjoy the weekend and stay relaxed. We cooked a huge friends and family dinner in the Adobe and they cleaned the entire kitchen for us! Anytime we were hanging out in the evenings they rolled the portable heaters up without us asking! They moved our rental equipment around to make cool outdoor spaces for us so that we could get more use out of it than just the wedding itself! And nothing felt so satisfying as passing by Ryan on a path and hearing "hey I just lit your fireplace for you!". Of everything we loved about our wedding, the thing we loved most was getting to have this full weekend experience with our closest friends and family in one place, made truly special by the care the entire Holly Farm team put into making us feel at ease and at home. And one final thing - lest I leave you with the impression that this is only about good vibes - the operations for the wedding itself were incredible. Every vendor knows the team and knows the venue, everything works like clockwork without you having to supervise anything, and Erin, Ryan, and their staff have things so tightly coordinated that we didn't have to stress about logistics at all once the weekend got started. I can't emphasize enough how big a difference that made to us compared to some horror stories we'd heard from other weddings. Here are some final quick hits on other things you might be wondering about - but seriously, pick Holly Farm: - I didn't write an entire review for Tamie and La Creme, because it would be just as long, but they do amazing work. This is straight up excellent food, not excellent "wedding" food. - The rooms and buildings are very cool and very comfortable. - Yes, the Paraiso suite is "open air". Yes, it really does stay warm. Having a roaring fire in there, plus a heated blanket on the bed....A+. - The optional River House for extra space is definitely walkable (~3 mins), but it's nice to have flashlights at night. - Having the flexibility to use the space however you want for the entire weekend is a highly highly underrated perk. We had people hanging out on Thursday and Friday and it was a ton of fun. Highly recommend making plans that utilize the space every day. - We were nervous about the higher cost at first, but asking friends and family who stayed on site to pay for rooms turned out to not be a very big deal, and what we charged them was still way less than area hotels. - The music has to switch from DJ's speakers to house speakers at 9:30pm, but the house speakers can stay on all night if you want. We had just as much fun after the switchover. - No curfew is also a huge perk not to overlook. Erin and Ryan if you're reading this THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN YOU GUYS ARE ROCK STARS!!

As my husband and I drive up the central coast to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, we…read morethought this was the perfect time to share a little bit about our insanely incredible experience getting married at Holly Farm. Our wedding was an absolute dream come true. The love we had for each other and for our family and friends that traveled from across the country to celebrate with us was reflected in the beauty and spirit of Holly Farm and all of the wonderful folks that work there. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the warmth and charm of the space. It was as if every inch of the venue was designed to make us and our guests feel at home, while still capturing an elevated, magical atmosphere that was simply unforgettable. Everyone at Holly Farm went above and beyond to ensure each detail of our wedding weekend was flawless. Their attention to detail was extraordinary, and it was clear they genuinely cared about making our day perfect. Ryan and Erin were so caring and attentive, and they made us feel like family. They were there for every little detail and made us feel completely at ease. The food, catered by La Creme, was nothing short of five star restaurant quality. We've received countless compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was! This was a big deal, especially coming from our families who are used to extravagant New Jersey weddings with an abundance of food. They all told us it was the best wedding food they'd ever had, which is about the highest praise you can get from a family who knows food! Everything about The Holly Farm was perfect--from the gorgeous, tropical setting that felt like a hidden paradise against the coastal backdrop of Carmel to the impeccable service and food. We couldn't have imagined a more beautiful, heartfelt, and memorable experience, and our friends and family STILL haven't stopped raving about it! Our wedding weekend was made even more special thanks to the onsite haciendas where we, along with some of our close friends, stayed. The houses were cozy yet luxurious, and perfectly appointed with a level of service that truly felt five-star. Each detail was perfect, from the unbelievably comfortable beds to the wood burning fires that were lit by hand each night and the wonderful house staff that made everyone feel at home the moment they arrived. Getting to spend the whole weekend in such an enchanting space made the whole wedding feel so much more special, a truly immersive experience vs a single-day event. We loved discovering the countless nooks and crannies throughout the property where our friends and family could relax, chat, and soak in the surroundings. It created a sense of intimacy and closeness that made the entire experience feel so special. When the weekend was over, we genuinely didn't want to leave. Heck, we may even crash the wedding that's probably getting ready to kick off this weekend! The Holly Farm made every moment magical, and we will forever cherish our time spent there with the people we love most.

This is our second stay at Bernardus. Unfortunately some of…read morethe service and the food was not as good as before. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted a glass of wine, we opted for water and were handed two bottles to take to our room which was nice , however a five star rated hotel would have brought this to our room with glasses of ice.....an awkward moment as we had our hands full and were following the valet who had our bags. We ordered room service for breakfast several times , it was prompt but cold (which seems odd). The breakfasts were always good except for the temperature. Excellent benedict and really good yogurt/granola/fruit parfait in a bowl. In general the bread was not good, stiff and lacking flavor (i.e. sourdough toast). However the focaccia for the grilled chicken sandwich was very good.. We had a patio dinner early evening: Strip loin steak with whipped potatoes, and salad. The salad was served on a hot plate along with the rest of the meal, it was warm and wilted arugula, like wet spaghetti and overly large pieces of frisée. The steak was tough and had a very small amount of a watery unseasoned béarnaise sauce on top. This is in contrast to one of the best prepared NY strip entrees we had the year before. The salmon was slightly overcooked and lacked seasoning and acid. It was served on sauteed chard on top of whipped potatoes. I don't think I've ever said there was too much butter in/on any mashed potatoes I've ever had (I love butter), but these potatoes were swimming in it. The same with the ones with the striploin. The experience was a relatively dry salmon on top of a very wet mess. This is in contrast to the salmon we had a year before that was one of the best we've ever had. The creme brulee was absolutely great. On another evening we ordered the kale pesto pasta. The pasta was overworked and bitter, thick, gummy and lacking a good texture I must say this dish was a mess, no central bass notes to bring flavor unity. The pizza was as great as it always is. The grilled chicken sandwich was good as well. Overall, there are so many things we enjoy about the hotel and staff, but this time the food was disappointing

We're still in the middle of our stay at Carmel Valley Ranch, but it has already been so wonderful that I wanted to write this review before I even get home; just so I don't forget all the special details. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel truly cared for. Edward was so sweet at check-in and helped secure lovely rooms for our group. He continues to greet us kindly each time we see him in the lodge. Saša remembered us from previous visits and made my son's birthday extra special by bringing out French fries (his absolute favorite)! We also had a service issue within our group, and Jeff handled it with such genuine passion and professionalism. He went above and beyond to make things right, and then surprised my kids with their own little Stanley cups engraved with their initials. Truly above and beyond. The food and beverage team has been just as amazing. Molly's new dessert menu is fantastic; don't miss the goat cheesecake! Carly is always a gem; her warmth and kindness brighten our days, and my kids absolutely adore her. Mia is so welcoming at the host stand at Valley Kitchen, always greeting us with such friendliness. At dinner, Ismael was a wonderful server. I forgot to mention needing separate checks at the start of the meal, but he was so gracious and kind about handling it at the end. Our favorite breakfast server is José. He was is so so so kind. One member of our group has been feeling under the weather this weekend. He had the chef make her some chicken broth. And he didn't even charge a penny for us. When I offered gratuity; he declined! We adore José. We look forward to seeing him every time we return to CVR. A highlight of the trip was meeting Fernanda at the Market. We had a fun conversation early in the morning about whether eggnog and matcha might go together. Hours later, she tracked me down to tell me she had experimented, tried it, and that it was delicious--then proceeded to make me a matcha eggnog latte. And she was right. It was amazing! Her thoughtfulness absolutely made my day. We also had the pleasure of meeting Urich, the GM--including a personal hello from him, which says a lot about the hospitality here. He was warm, approachable, and clearly cares deeply about the guest experience. The property itself is gorgeous with so much to enjoy, but what keeps us coming back again and again is the incredible people who make every stay feel special. Their kindness, sincerity, and attention to detail turn a beautiful resort into a place that feels like home. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

My husband booked this place for the family with good intentions but missed a few details that I'd…read morelike to share in the hopes someone else may be reading reviews for this place. Location: beautiful breathtaking views tucked away in a mountain valley, it is a perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle from city noise pollution and high populations. Customer service: there are only 1-2 check in desks, where they spend about 10-20 minutes with each customer explaining the property amenities, location of room, events, etc. when you've been traveling all day, every minute feels like a lifetime. Restaurant: there is only one full service, sit in restaurant that gets booked very fast especially for dinner. Plan ahead and make a reservation in advance for every night you plan to stay on campus and eat there, otherwise, expect to wait until 8 pm or drive to the nearby restaurants which include a Subway, pizza joint, or a small Vietnamese restaurant. Earthbound Organic Farm is a great alternative option for a small breakfast or lunch bites. There is another Mexican restaurant nearby. Clientele in the mornings consist of rowdy children and their inconsiderate parents. I recommend asking to be seated outside if you have well mannered children and want to eat in peace. Rooms: mediocre clean. For being a Hyatt affiliated hotel, I had higher expectations, rooms are carpeted with wooden floors and heavy rugs. This resort is pet friendly so if you have someone in the family that suffers from allergies or has a very sensitive nose, this is not the best place to stay. As most Californian hotels that have carpeting, you can smell odors in the carpeting and linen. When things got hot and humid in our room, I got a nice whiff of dog. Basically any pet friendly hotel means that your linens will be washed with dog poo or other animal fluids. Rooms are only dusted at eye level but if you're someone that is concerned about dust mites, be prepared to get a showering of dust mites on bed, where the headboards reach 6' high and hold lots of lovely layers of dust. Coffee pot is sad and comparable to a motel 6 version with blah coffee, and lastly the beds are super firm with no ability to adjust (like other Hyatt holidays offer), and pillows are huge and uncomfortable. Foam alternative is slightly softer but still too high for a back sleeper or stomach sleeper. Bathroom: limited. They do provide tiny handwashing bars of soap made of lavender, and provide a tiny sample sac of lavender salt to use in tub but for those with allergies, best to request an alternative if any. Shower corners contain black mold. Refrigerators: our room had a tiny refrigerator that could hardly fit anything and doesn't cool sufficiently so for those moms packing extra healthy snacks for your kids, consider your fridge useless. All the strawberries, yogurts and hummus we purchased made it straight to the trash. Room patio: dirty and useless. There was a couple of upholstered seats and one table on our patio that could not be enjoyed as they were filled with dirt, dust and leaves. Would I stay here again? No - due to the pet issue for me. Most Californians love their pets and don't mind staying in places that wreak of dog butts that they've habituated to. Like I said, my husband had good intentions but there were too many issues that made it undesirable for me.
