I have been coming here for years. I absolutely love this restaurant. Every time we go to northern michigan, we stop at thus restaurant on the drive home. They always seat us right away. They have delicious food. I love the chicken tenders and the fries. My husband always tries a different burger and he loves all of them. This time I also got an order of mozarella sticks and they were crispy and good. The fries are my favorite part especially with their ranch. The service is really great too. Its really spacious inside with really cool seating. It isn't too loud in there when you go between 3-5pm. I think its the perfect time to go with kids. They do have high chairs. The staff were pleasant to deal with and notibly attentive considering the busy nature of the establishment during my visit. Stopped in during our travels. Had gluten free options for food and it all tasted great. Planet of drink options as well and a large venue. Great waitstaff and friendly service. We happened to be there for open mic night and the host band was fabulous and a lot of fun. I need to remember to travel with my instrument they made me want to jam. Stopped in while on a snowmobile ride and their burgers are top shelf. They have their own beers and some other Michigan microbrews. The atmosphere is comfortable and artistic. The bartender, Lucas is amazing and has an aura about him that makes it a great experience. read more

If you're near Grayling MI you HAVE to stop at Dead Bear Brewery. I get Mac-n- Cheese at almost everyplace I can. Normally you get good pork and marginal Mac-n-cheese or good Mac-n-cheese and dry pork. BEST Mac-n-Cheese I've had in a long time. Perfect combo of fresh smoked pork and creamy perfect Mac. I've been waiting to write this review for a few weeks now. I don't think the rueben has left my mind since I had it! My boyfriend and I were coming home from Mackinac Island and wanted to get dinner on the road. Not feeling fast food anymore, he told me he wanted a reuben. That sounded amazing to me too! A quick Yelp search led me to Dead Bear Brewing and ten minutes later we were in the car ordering take out. We were going to eat it at our cottage, which was about a half hour away. Ordering was easy and our food came out quick and hot! The rueben, filled with cheese and 1000 Island dressing, hit the spot! The toasty rye bread was also equally as tasty. It's a $2 charge to add fries or onion rings, but I can assure you it's worth it! $12 for a sandwich and onion rings was a good deal considering I had two meals here. The onion rings were crisp to perfection, just the way I like them. We will be coming back whenever we're in the area again! read more

I don't think that I would ever go back. It's standard pub fare, and the beer was ok, but my deep fried chicken sandwich came out mostly raw. I think that we may have caught these guys understaffed, and the service was friendly and slow, but raw chicken is kind of unforgivable. read more

This was a fun place.with a great atmosphere. We got here right after they opened and sat at the bar and chatted a bit with the very nice bartender. There were a lot of fun things to see. There was a rustic feel to this place which I loved. This was my first visit to Grayling so it was nice to see so many friendly faces. The weather was clearing up and we knew it was going to be a great day. We did not eat as we were still barely able to move from lunch. Beers were great with many choices available. I can't comment on the food, but the beer here is really not that good. Of the beers we tried, they weren't true to the style they were meant to reflect. Many of the beers (which I have to assume were maybe the better/more popular options) were tapped, so we couldn't try those. On the night we went there was live music, which made for a really great atmosphere on the patio. The side panels were open so we got to enjoy the cool night air. We would come back for atmosphere alone, but next time I think we will sick to some of the domestic beers. read more

Dead Bear was another stop on brew trail. What an awesome brewery! Being Memorial weekend, it was busy. I loved the theme and the decor of this brewery. We had some fun taking pictures and arm wrestling! That's right, an authentic arm wrestling table. I could see the fear in his eyes when I challenged him to a match. Haha Let's just say, he wouldn't let me beat him! We ordered a few beers, which we really enjoyed, grabbed a few stickers and of course our tags! How can you NOT love a brewery that also has cocktails available!? After my reunion on a very snowy day, I decided to stop in for lunch. BAM! French onion soup. The cheesy goodness hit the spot. I also tried a super tasty Bloody Mary made to perfection, and a very large Spicy Thai chicken salad. The staff was super nice, it was a slow Sunday in a cool place. We gave them another try, after a bad experience the last time. The service was below average, the food lacks seasoning for the most part The pulled pork on the Porkapocolyse sandwich was very dry and tasted like wet cardboard. The homemade bbq taste more like A1 steak sauce than BBQ sauce. The bacon on both my wife's burger and my sandwich were so burnt that it was inedible. The onion rings and breaded mushrooms were also way overcooked. We did not try any of the craft beer. Perhaps with enough alcohol someone might think this food is acceptable. read more

Don't let the name scare you - the inside is very spacey and nicely organized out. You have the option of dining inside or out on a deck part; if the weather is bad and/or bug are horrible they can also close it off too. My friend and I were just heading home from girls trip in Traverse City - we started to get hungry, so we stopped here. We ordered mac n' cheese which had shrimp inside and I order the Aporkalypse burger; we split our orders so we both can taste each other food. OH BOY was it good. Hell we already "CARB OVERLOAD", so why stop now. Our server was nice - a little slow but there was a party or event their already; she probably need a little more assistance but we were ok because they were all senior citizens. Okay I want to start by saying the waitress was amazing! Her name was Heather. But when we arrived it was not at all busy. It's was during a shift change but still we were not addressed for at least 25 minutes after being seated. We almost left and a waitress came over to us. She wasn't even in our area but helped us anyway. Once ordered it took over 20 minutes or so to get our order. My Ruben was super soggy and the onion rings were so undercooked that there was powder exploding out of the onion ring when I took a bite. Wish I would have taken a photo. Anyway they refunded us for my meal and we paid for everything else and left. We had to walk to the front to get our bill too because it took SO long for her to return with our bill because she was overloaded. We checked out Dead Bear and decided to order flights to try a few different beers since we had never been. The samples in the flights are much bigger than usual, so it's quite a bit of beer. All the beers were good! I went with IPAs and pale ales the most but didn't really have a favorite. The one with cucumber (I forget the name) was the one I liked the least but I think it was the flavor combination that made me not like it. We also ordered some apps, and it was alright. The bruschetta was really good, I definitely recommend it. The onion rings were good and seemed to be made in-house The spinach dip wasn't the greatest. That's the one I don't recommend. Our bartender (I wish I could remember his name!) was super nice. We enjoyed chatting with him, and he was helpful with all of our requests on merchandise (especially when we only ended up buying two howlers). All of the merchandise is super cute, by the way. I would like Dead Bear a lot more if it were a bit cheaper. We ended up paying over $60 for a few apps, two flights, one filled howler, and one empty howler. We love coming to this place, it's always got great food and a wonderful atmosphere.

This place has really good food my gf had the prime rib was DELICIOUS and I had rainbow trout which was also really good, a little bony but what fish isnt. The staff is very energetic, sociable and helpful they only had 2 of their own beers on tap and MAN Founders beers on tap. They don't have Growler because their Brewing room is very small but the beers I did have were VERY good, I had the milk stout which was VERY delicious it had quite the good espresso and chocolate taste as it should and then their amber ale which had an oak barrel taste, I liked this as well, as a up and coming brewery I think they r doing well for themselves I think with more of a selection they would even b better and they made my gf this AMAZING drink called Shamrock Juice which was very fruity and good. I am definitely coming back again, however they do not and will not sell Growlers. read more

This is one of the better restaurants in the Grayling MI Area. Great Selection of Beers with a great atmosphere. I was looking something that wasn't fried to I tried the COD Dinner plate with Red Potatoes and Snap Peas. The plate had three medium slices of Cod, deliciously baked and pan seared to perfect tenderness... it was VERY good. I loved the Red Potatoes as they were not over cooked and smothered in a garlic butter with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. The snap peas were PERFECT. This was a great find!! Loved the rustic cabin vibe and the bartender was very nice and knowledgeable about the beers. The onion rings were spectacular...I don't know why more places don't make their own. They're so worth it. Travis came out and we had a delightful conversation about the place, the name and the brews. He was extremely passionate about his product and it showed.
