I always leave with more than I intended because they do goodies like imported hard candy, they have a lot of sparkly stuff, they know to put the toilet plunger display right where you stop and think "you know, I don't own a toilet plunger, gotta fix that." It's still a discount store, so don't leave at home your judgment on price and quality. Everyone I've talked to there is nice. Aisles are wide enough to be comfortable; store is clean and bright.

And one of the very best has just returned: Paul. He is smart, store savvy, wonderfully outgoing with customers and from what we hear a favorite with employees because he is genuinely caring. And helping him now is Tyrone, who is another top-flight manager. Together they make a great team and ensure that customers always feel they matter. We've visited other JL stores but not one, no matter size, can match this one.

So, we made our first visit to the Outlet in Southington today. The differences between the two locations were striking. Southington is much larger and seemed to have a greater variety of products. It was more like a mini supermarket complete with produce, frozen goods, refrigerated goods, and a dairy case. Another difference is their 50% off room, where all sorts of non- foods items were half price. We used to pick up coffees, teas, frozen goods, and boxes of cereal at the Canton store. Just like Canton was, you have to check the pricing carefully because pricing is a real mixed bag. The Outlet is lower on some items and quite a bit higher on other items when compared to supermarket prices. We did find a few good buys- two squares of frozen jalapeno cornbread and two mini packages of frozen chocolate chip pancakes. How does $1.16 sound for all four? Yes, I thought you'd be as pleased with that as we were.

Much of the merchandise looked like it was 4 to 10 years old mixed in with one or two small displays of new merchandise. The store was very crowded, and it was difficult to navigate the aisles. It was apparent that there wasn't enough staff to merchandise the displays appropriately. There seems to be a good selection of sizes, but nothing really looked like you couldn't live without it. I know there are supply chain issues, but Marshalls used to be my go to place for items that were marked down because it was just off-season. I do hope the buyers if they are experienced, will resume finding quality at a bargain price.

I asked her why are all tables except the one I inquired about, recognized the sale. She said "We're not going to sell that table for $150". I guess they announce a sale on "All" specific items, except for those they choose not to sell at the sale price. There's no personality in there, no smiles, no normalcy. The negative energy in that place is very obvious.

Cold industrial lighting highlights towers upon towers of consumer goods, neatly packaged and smelling of plastic. The building itself could house what feels like the entirety of West Hartford. Security is present, multiple times we were checked for our Costco card. The deals are good, not exceptional. Example: dyson supersonic is the same price on Dyson.com, and has far more colors. Nonetheless the place is fun with ample food and close, organized parking.
