Poor communication meant I had to cancel and they did not help me move. In November I requested a quote via Yelp for my in-town move. They quoted $175/hr and sent the owner's number. When I called to follow up on 11/24, his voicemail said he receives texts at the number too, I texted and he quoted $195/hr. When I asked him about the disparity he said we could go with the lower rate. In our initial conversation I explained that we were supposed to close on our house December 18th and wanted to move December 19th. I did note that when buying a house there are many moving parts so there was some concern that we might not be able to close/move on time but told him that I'd let him know as soon as I knew for sure and he was fine with that. 12/12, one week before the move I text the owner telling him we're on track to close on time and that I want to confirm we're scheduled for the following Saturday 12/15 I text the owner again and leave a voicemail, no response 12/16 I text the owner and leave a voicemail, my wife also calls and texts, at noon I text that if I don't hear back by 1:00 I'll need to find another company I found another company, still haven't heard a word from him. It's entirely possible that we were on his calendar and he would've shown up on time Saturday and is just terrible with communication, but after going four days without any confirmation, I couldn't risk not having a mover show up. I truly hope everything is ok and that I'm not bashing a business that had a valid reason for ghosting me, but until I hear otherwise from the owner, I can only guess. read more

I'll stick to the facts: - We were moving in August this year - We'd agreed on terms and everything seemed reasonable - Two days before the move, I contacted Kyle and ask is they were going to wear masks while inside our current residence. - The night before the move, at ~9PM, he confirmed that he would not - I asked if I provided masks, if they would wear them indoors - Kyle cited that the day would be too hot to wear masks - I had to fire them at 10PM the night before (this is not okay to me and I did not feel good about it) I want to be clear, I looked up current Health & Safety codes and regulations for movers in NY during the pandemic. This was confirmed by my sister-in-law who works in HR. There's no exemption stipulation for weather conditions. They're currently required to wear masks while inside your home if they're licensed. I talked to other moving companies in the area and hired someone two days later who could slot us in. All of the other licensed companies I talked to said they were at least wearing masks while inside the residence. This should not be a question that has to be asked, but I'm glad I did. Maybe others don't care, but for anyone else who needs their movers to be compliant with current safety measures, this review is for you. read more

They ghosted me. Dean was fairly quick to respond to email and text, had reasonable rates. And good yelp reviews! They use a truck, and bring moving blankets. Sounded good! I made plans with them and was relieved to have help lined up. The day of the move, they seemed to be late. Not a big deal, we were a bit behind on packing! 45 min after I expected them, I got a text from them. Their morning job had turned out to be much bigger than they had planned, and they might be 2-3 hours later. Okay, I responded, and gave them an additional number to text when they were ready. They never texted again, never showed, never apologized. I had to scramble to make other last minute plans. It was a small job for them, moving a disabled client. But , Dean moving is good yes I thought in communication , showing up on time but in the end I had some broken items and felt they were very over priced ! To be fair I did not compare Pricing with other moving companies so I am Not sure but $195 hr seemed very high to me considering the broke items , the helpers weren't particularly professional just young guys moving stuff. No uniform or even a company T-shirt on. They did wrap items in blankets and packed the truck in such away that they tried to get everything in one load so that was nice. But again I think I would Look around to check pricing etc if I would offer a suggestion. But the truck looked nice and wasn't beat up , it gives a good impression. These people moved me out of my storage lockers at Public Storage and back into my garage at my residence way back in March, 2020 just before the start of Covid. The three guys are workers. They had to cut off my locks at my storage area and grind of another one. They do a great job. They don't waste time and give you every bit of your monies worth. They brought my stuff from my two storage lockers to my garage at my home. They helped me put a large number of items out to the curb, then brought my stuff in from the storage lockers and arranged it neatly in my garage and covered it in plastic. I have moved to several different locations for work over the past decade and they made the entire process effortless. I just had a great experience with Dean Moving. I had some furniture and boxes going to a storage unit. I used Yelp's Request a Quote feature to ask for quotes from 4 local movers. One didn't respond for a few days. Of the other three Dean wasn't the least expensive by the hour, but had the shortest minimum (2 hours). I was pretty sure it could be done in that, but Kyle assured me that even if it took longer overages were charged by the minute, which I thought was very fair. The move was scheduled for four days later and Kyle and two other young men showed up right on time with a plenty big enough truck. They got right to work, and even handled an out of the blue request I thought of just before they arrived - moving a washing machine from the garage to the second floor. The load out, washer moving, trip to storage, and loading the storage unit took them 2 1/2 hours and I was charged just as Kyle had said. If I'd gone with the company with the lower hourly rate, but three hour minimum I'd have ended up paying more. The storage facility manager said Kyle had moved other people in/out in the past and he always did a good job. I'll definitely call Kyle next time I have a move. read more

After a quick tour of the place to identify priorities and potential difficulties, they went right to work. They worked steadily, and without complaint for three hours. As silly as it seems, their good attitude, and friendly nature made me feel much better about the move.They took exceptional care of my belongings, probably more care than I could have mustered after a couple of hours.
