I have been in and out of therapy since age 5 with multiple Psychologists but never have I received such empathy. She will make you comfortable enough to open up about anything, almost as though you are speaking to your best friend. I have Medicare and I have found it very hard to find any competent Dr. who takes my insurance. I find this a blessing as I started seeing her when I had United Healthcare. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking any kind of emotional health issues or simply life coaching which she is wonderful with as well. She also referred me to my current Psychiatrist whom I have been seeing regularly for 13 years as well. There is nothing she will do in order to make her clients feel like they are top priority, which is a big self esteem booster. She also treats children and adolescents. It seems that no one is unimportant in her eyes which goes a long way especially if you suffer from trust and abandonment issues. I would and will continue to see her as long as she is in practice. There is no reason to hurt or keep things stuffed inside when there is someone who genuinely cares about all her clients. I visited the ARC with my husband (to obtain help for myself) and was pleasantly greeted by the owner, Robert McNair, and his wife Trish. I'd spoken with Robert via telephone, and he was there in person to greet me when I arrived the following Saturday. They even came in on a Saturday! I am 2 months pregnant, and they were very understanding about my situation, and assured that my treatment was safe and would be productive, in the interests of my child. I highly recommend this establishment - especially to those tired of dealing with the intrusive and indifferent facilities in Memphis, quick to take money and quicker to dismiss patients (no need to name names, as there are few in Memphis).

I attempted to get it corrected as I thought it was obviously a mistake and was disappointed at every level dealing with the bureaucratic system they have in place. A total waste of time given the simplistic and correct solution. To provide detail, I had a yearly checkup and even had my bloodwork done previously to my visit so I could discuss with the doctor during my check up. During my visit I discussed my health in general, I also was able to ask questions about my bloodwork since I already had the results prior to the appointment. During the visit I discussed some allergies I've been having and was referred to allergist. There were no diagnoses, testing, prescriptions provided or follow up visits scheduled, only a recommendation that I should visit an allergist. After receiving my bill, it listed that I was seen as an outpatient and when calling the billing department I was advised this is one of the more expensive ways to be seen. I explained that I went in for an annual checkup and they agreed to send back to the office for recoding. After not hearing anything back for several weeks I reached out again requesting to speak with the practice manager to ensure this would be corrected. After speaking with the practice manager she explained that although it was coded incorrectly, that since I spoke about an allergy I will be charged for the annual check up and an allergy visit as well. She further explains the policy is posted in the room about how yearly checkups don't cover health issues you may have and made it sound like she's helping me out by just charging the additional allergy visit along with my checkup. She also said that I spent 50 minutes with the doctor, it was under 25 minutes. This is such a red flag in itself that the amount of time was extremely exaggerated in an attempt to make me feel I spent too much time with the doctor. I think I understand what's going on, it was not a typical 10 minute visit since I already had my bloodwork and was able to inquire about the results. Very deceptive and unfair not to advise a patient about this policy when the patient expects to speak about current health issues with the doctor during an annual checkup. At the very least, clinics should be required to be explain during checkin if you have an annual checkup that you're not allowed to discuss health related issues without incurring additional charges especially if there is not testing or additional appointments needed. At any rate, a company that charges services that are not transparent should not be trusted with your health. Even with the current state of our healthcare this is a surprise that any company would risk alienating their customers over what would appear to be a straightforward ethical practice. Additionally today I received a voice mail from the billing department that they are leaving the coding as it was originally charged as an outpatient?? $400+ dollars for an outpatient charge for what was an annual checkup. So unethical.

As a first-time mom, I was nervous about delivering at any hospital given the many horror stories…read moreI've heard about patient care. However, I decided I wanted to be surrounded by professionals with expertise in both baby and mom care, and I'm so glad I chose Baptist. Arrival & First Impressions: When I arrived, I wasn't sure if I was in active labor or not, but I quickly learned I was. After being checked, I was immediately moved into a labor and delivery room. My first nurse, Paige, was incredibly encouraging. She reassured me that I could deliver without an epidural, especially since I was already 5cm dilated and not in much pain. Nurse Transition: Paige let me know her shift was ending and introduced me to the nurses who would take over. By this point, I was 8cm dilated, and the new team--Lisa (Charge Nurse), Sierra (RN), Lindsey (Unit Manager), and Dr. Owens--made me feel confident and supported. I didn't experience pain until they had to break my water at 9cm. Delivery: Dr. Owens and her team delivered my baby. I labored for 6 hours, and after 3 pushes, my baby was born. They were very clear with instructions, guiding me through the process by counting and telling me when to push. My husband was able to cut the umbilical cord, and they immediately placed my baby on me for skin-to-skin. I was also able to opt out of having my baby bathed right away, which meant a lot to me. Post-Delivery Care: After birth, I was transferred to a new room and introduced to my new nurses and lactation specialist. Kacee, the lactation consultant, was fantastic in helping me get the baby to latch, and Amy, the nurse, assisted me when Kacee wasn't available. I also want to give a shoutout to the other nurses during shift changes--Dakeila, Lanitra (who provided amazing resources and support, especially after my baby had to go to the NICU), and Patient Care Assistants Denita and Hieu. NICU Care: My baby had some low oxygen levels after feeding, so the nurses transferred her to the NICU. Heidi, the nurse, was wonderful and made my husband and I feel at ease during a stressful time. Her empathy and positive energy helped us through a scary situation. Follow-up: We were discharged after three days, and the doctors called us after two days at home to check in and make sure we had everything we needed for our baby, while also ensuring I was recovering well. Overall, my experience at Baptist was incredibly positive. While I know every nurse and situation is different, each of the nurses I interacted with made me feel comfortable and never like a burden, even when I had many questions. I am truly grateful for the care we received, and I hope that all families receive the same level of care that I did. It took away all of my fears and anxieties about delivering in a hospital. You never wait for too long and if you have an appointment they're on time. I love sitting in the massage chairs for a while before seeing Dr. Starr too. Call before hand if you're a new patient!
