Like others, Kyle was a complete no show. He had very limited times when he could come so we made arrangements for him to come @ 1pm this past Thursday to give an estimate on painting the entire interior of our house. Kyle didn't show up. Never called -- before or after -- to explain what happened. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt that some emergency came up, but a phone call is easy, and based on the other reviews it's not like this is unusual for him. One star seem harsh, and yet I couldn't possibly recommend someone who apparently doesn't care about his potential clients. read more

We needed our 3 year old daughter's bedroom and our master bathroom painted. We asked Kyle and another painter to bid on the job. Both painters had 5-star reviews on Yelp and competitive bids. Ultimately we selected Kyle's team because he related to my daughter well and told her his team would do the best job ever painting her room. So my daughter was sold. Kyle was right. His team did a fantastic job. We have those textured walls that can be really tough to cut in without getting paint on the ceiling. His team did a fantastic job and even taught us their technique, should we want to do it ourselves. They also used their cut in technique in places we didn't even think was possible (btwn windows and shutters). Quality job and we are very happy. We would hire again. read more

We couldn't be happier with the Work Kyle has done for us. In my opinion Kyle is not just at the top of his trade, he is an artist. We hired him to paint the exterior, and do some interior work, and he also stained our 25 year old patio. Everything he has done looks better than I expected. Kyle's attention to detail is superb. They really went the extra mile to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Kyle painted our new office in San Francisco. He did a fantastic job and I'd recommend him to anyone. We originally hired him to only paint dry erase walls. However, Kyle pointed out to us that he could all the holes in the walls from a prior tenant. He also removed a bunch of screws the prior tenant left. He matched two different colors of paints that the prior tenants used so everything would look uniform. Just opened a new business and needed a painter for the interior of the shop. Wanted a custom look and needed it fast, Deans brush came in very reasonable and competitive with the other bidders, and got the job done quickly, at the cost they promised. Suggested some ways for me to save money on the job which I found great as most will try to push every dollar they can but they didn't seam concerned with trying to suck every dollar they could from this project but more about getting me the best job look without spending on areas that were not needed to achieve the look we were going for. We hired Kyle (since he now works in the east bay) to paint our kitchen cabinets since he painted a couple of rooms for us and was hired on by our previous contractor. He informed us that he specialized in painting kitchen cabinets, and we hired him to do the job in 7 days. Three weeks later with very little to no communication, our kitchen, and other cabinets throughout the house were painted, but missing the doors, and drawers as he took them to his home shop to finish. He disappeared off the earth's face due to his broken iphone. He managed to paint light switches, face plates and the side of our stove as a bonus. He finally returned the doors, and drawers (unfinished I might add) and left them in front of our house, with the rest of the mess he had created. He seems like a real nice guy, but his flakiness, and lack of commitment/communication leaves something to be desired, not to mention his inability to stick to his contract, and taking with him the hardware, and paint that we had already paid for. He owes us around $1500 for the unfinished work. Glad to be rid of him. By the way, his contractor's license has expired. read more

Kyle was a no-show (kid issues). People have stuff going on, I get that, but if you can't make an appointment, maybe call...before, during or after the time you are/were supposed to be there? He sounds fantastic, but I'm worried about hiring a guy that doesn't bother to show up for the estimate - twice. read more

Kyle, the owner, is extremely diligent about his work, has very reasonable pricing, and does an excellent job on both interior and exterior painting. After using him for my own personal residence, I referred him to several clients before putting their homes on the market. I never had a dissatisfied client and most people have gone on to refer Dean's Brush to other friends/family as well. He is honest, fair, and extremely reliable! If you have a quote from any other place/painter, I would recommend having Kyle bid the job you need done, and most of the time, he will come in lower in price. read more

Kyle and crew painted our house about a year ago. It is still looking good. He had the lowest bid, did more work in his bid, and did a great job. He has a wonderful foreman and the other two guys on his crew were friendly and polite, even when hand-painting those hundreds of fence pickets! I will definitely use them again. Kyle and his crew painted the exterior of our house a couple of weeks ago, along with 3 rooms inside. The reason we chose Kyle's company to do the work was because he was very professional when he came to give us a quote and seemed to take great pride in his work. Unlike one of his competitors, who intimated that he was the only one on the Peninsula who could be trusted to do good work, Kyle won the bid on his own merits and did not badmouth his competition. I appreciated and respected that. Kyle and his crew did a lot of prep on our house before they started. We had cracks on the exterior walls from settling and we also had some paint that was peeling. They did a very thorough job of prepping the house, so I feel that the paint job will last a long time. The paint jobs on the exterior and the interior were very neat and professional. We were at work when they painted the exterior and when we came home and said we didn't like the color that we had chosen, Kyle was very patient and said he wanted to make sure we were happy. They repainted the whole exterior and he was very fair with the price for doing it over. His price was very fair for the entire job, especially compared to other bids we received for the same work. The work that he and his crew did prepping and painting the interior of our house (including doors, closets, trim) was meticulous and of high quality. This guy subcontracted all of our work and got the payment from us but did not pay to his subcontractor. We had to double pay to the subcontractor to get our paint job done. DON't use this contractor or one that goes by the name Kyle Deans Painting. If you will check his license you will find that it has expired. read more

I have to agree with the other negative reviewers, as this business caused me a lot of undue stress during our home renovation efforts. Workers were careless, caused damage on our property, did not honor our request to keep our brand new carpets clean, lost various things in our home, and the owner Kyle was extremely flaky and never showed up on time for our meetings. Highly unprofessional. We also requested a specific color for staining and the match wasn't very good, but we had no choice but to live with it after the job was done. Things were not done according to the agreed timeline due to all the mistakes and mishaps. The one star is for the owner trying to make things right at the end by lowering our rate, however if you can avoid yourself the hassle of working with a flaky business i would recommend you to find another contractor, because the owner lives too far away to keep up with what his workers are doing- find somebody local who can be there to supervise and who actually honors meeting times. The excuses of being too far away and having to stay home with his kids is understandable, being a parent myself but only if you have an extremely flexible timeline as we did. He should have a local backup or partner that can accommodate meetings with clients when he can't be there. read more
