My review is strictly about the level of food service. We attended a very large event at this location. My husband and I could not believe the food quality for such a place as this . We both had side salads (made with arugula lettuce we could actually consume), salmon which was mediocre, some type of Cole slaw (warm), ridiculously prepared lumpy, hard mash potatoes and a piece of raspberry cheesecake which was actually good. This was unacceptable to me as we paid a lot for our plates at the event. What I can't understand is why an upscale venue would serve food on such a low scale?? read more

Beautiful, clean, and spacious hotel! I loved looking at the artwork in the hallway gallery area. Amenities included a modestly-sized fitness room, pool, and hot tub. Service was friendly and patient with us as we tried to figure out the luggage situation. The rooms themselves were clean and spacious including the bathrooms. They had a chaise by the window and a whole book on things to check out around the area. Black out curtains available to block out the sun/privacy. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast experience we had during the trip. They had a nice variety of items to choose from and an omelette station! The area is quiet with plenty of free parking and located within a ten-minute drive of downtown Dearborn and about a five-minute drive from the Henry Ford Museum (highly recommend!). Though the free parking is a little bit of a walk, it's not the worst unless you're wearing high heels. They also have a valet service which was courteous. Oh fall from grace this hotel has become since it was the previous Ritz Carlton. Painting over the once opulent woodwork,the cheapening of the concierge lounge to make it look like nothing more than the lobby of a Hampton Inn free breakfast buffet. I don't understand what the whole hipster generation is thinking of cheapening out everything. They have changed this place from caviar to a cheap burgers and fries joint. I stayed here dozens of times through the 2000s and 2010 until it changed into the Henry and it seems like his only gotten worse after every year. read more

I wish I had taken more photos of the property. Unfortunately, I did not. The front desk staff greeted me, and she could not have been nicer to me (An older girl with an accent; I forgot her name). So let me start with the positive: there was always an elevator on the ground floor waiting to take you to your room. The room that we had was big and immaculate. The bed was nice and soft, and this bed did not have the mini pillows, which are becoming more popular in Marriott rooms. Plenty of spa products and plenty of outlets were left in the room. The staff around the property always said hi and even tried to have some conversations every chance they could. The morning buffet for $25 (I think that was the cost) is well worth it. I did love it even though it was a little small. They had plenty of treadmills and had two Peloton bikes, which was phenomenal. If I am nitpicking, the negative for the property is that the elevator key card does not always work, making use of the other key card on the other side of the elevator door. The rug that was in our room had the corners peeling in an upward motion. The biggest disappointment was the concierge lounge. I was early one day and went down at 6:25 A.M. just to take a look at what was there. The girl immediately told me they were not open until 6:30 A.M. I came back, looked around, and decided to eat elsewhere. This was a huge letdown disappointment for the lounge. Would I stay at this property again? Absolutely. I enjoyed almost every aspect of it. But, with that said, I wouldn't book this property based on the concierge lounge. read more

We were excited to stay in this hotel because we have stayed in other autographs hotels and loved them. This hotel was originally a Ritz Carlton and switched in 2010. Marty the Valet was fantastic. We noticed a lot of friendly staff around which was nice. The breakfast in the restaurant was ok but not really worth the price. The omelette station was good but other than that it was lacking. It is nice that they have coffee available in the lobby but it ran out every day. On one occasion we let a staff person know and she said they were aware and were bringing some right out. We waited 5 minutes and they came and cleared the coffee bar. I would have preferred her just being honest and telling us that it was the end of the service so no more was coming. We attended an event at the hotel and everything was well done. Our room was average/large and nicely appointed. The cleaning staff did a great job. Overall we really enjoyed our stay considering we had a hotel block rate which felt like the appropriate rate. I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price. read more

Beautiful hotel with free parking. So, why three stars? Checked in at 945 pm. Asked about room service, front desk said it was available. It was not. Didn't feel like going back downstairs and sitting at the bar for a snack, so went to bed without dinner. There were two dead flies on the floor, it just gave the vibe that the room had not been used recently and certainly not checked for cleanliness. Flew into Detroit really late recently for a morning meeting the next day in Troy. I opted to stay close to DWI so I can get more sleep. The Henry is the best Marriott brand near the airport. The experience was so so, being an autograph collection. The establishment needed a refresh. The lounge on 10th floor was very disappointing. I went for a breakfast. It had very limited breakfast items, even ran out of white bread so I couldn't have a toast. The room needed new carpet and furniture. read more

The customer service is extremely bad. We booked five rooms for an event and we all were disappointed. Two sinks were clogged. Two tubs were not working. Dirty towels were left in one of the bathrooms. Coffee machines are incompatible with the coffee pods. No sugar, creamer, or coffee supplies were offered in the rooms. Beautiful hotel! The staff was great and the atmosphere was excellent. I booked a night stay while visiting family for the weekend. They offer an in-door swimming pool and sauna, workout room, gift shop, restaurant inside the hotel, lounge room with a fire place and plenty of seating, along with complimentary parking for guests. I found the staff to be extremely professional and kind which is always a plus. Although, I did not eat at the restaurant, it was quite busy each time I passed to enter/exit the hotel. The room itself has art work all over the place which was very beautiful. The bed was a bit hard and the pillows a bit too soft. Overall, the experience was nice. Enter this hotel and you'll find it is beautiful, there's no doubt about it. Gleaming, white surfaces and marble floors, high end sofas. To the left of the entrance is their restaurant, and to the right, almost hidden away, is the very small check in desk. When you check in, and head down the hall toward the room elevators, you're surrounded by beautiful artwork due to a partnership the Henry has with a gallery. Look carefully, because if there's something you want to buy, you should snap it up at the Henry price. When I got to my room it was not quite as luxurious as I had anticipated for this price point. They have the usual amenities of coffee and tea and some simple toiletries. One thing that annoyed me pretty quickly, as I needed to use it that evening, was that there is no USB ports near the bed to plug in your phone, tablet, etc. This wouldn't have been such a big deal even a few years ago, but I was at this hotel in February 2020 and electronics are ubiquitous. Even pretty low-end hotels often have an alarm clock next to the bed that has USB ports in it or something else to plug into. I did find on my second night that the bedside lamps have an outlet built in. The only reason that I found this, however, is because I returned to my room early, sat in the chair to read and relax, and happened to look over and see it facing me; the lamp is such that the outlet is on the outer edges of the lamp, facing outward, not in a base that faces toward the ceiling where most people might see it. So the outlet in the lamp base isn't in a space where people readily notice it because it's facing the wall or the window, away from the bed. One night there was a device plugged into it but that was on the other side did the bed too and was happenstance I found it. The bed was pretty comfortable. The chair and the other furniture were nice and comfortable. I liked the toiletries including the lotion had a great smell and it wasn't greasy like lotion can be. Those sound a little weird to add to a review, but they were things that I noticed and enjoyed about my stay. The water was... I'm not sure if maybe hard is the right term or not. I just know it was different. It lathered soap so I guess that's maybe means it was not hard, but when I washed my face and hands with it, the water didn't slide off my skin the way water typically does. My hands/face were a bit tacky, for lack of a better term, and I used the lotion to make my hands feel a little more supple. The water also didn't taste great. The first night when I arrived there were two small bottles of water in mini fridge, but the second night there wasn't and I had forgotten to stop and get some for my room. So since I had decided to change into my pajamas earlier I decided I would just drink the tapwater and it had a weird taste to it that I didn't like very much. A bit later, as I tried to make some tea, I ran water twice through the appliance they have in the room to boil water and both times there was something in the water. When it happened the first time I thought maybe it was a fluke. I completely cleaned the cup, and added new water using that cup; there was nothing in the water when I poured it in the machine. After the water had boiled through the machine, again there were little yellow pieces of something and that was not appetizing so I went without tea that night. This was a disappointment because I'd been under the weather and was looking forward to the tea. I'd had tea earlier in the day as well as the night before, so hopefully the same thing wasn't happening and I just wasn't observant enough to see it... seems unlikely, though. I don't know that I'd stay here again if I had other options. The reason I was here this time was for the installation of the new Bishop of Michigan, who had been my rector prior to her elevation, as well as a board meeting for a professional association I am involved with (both happened to be taking place on subsequent nights, which made it unbelievably convenient for me!). If I was here for a conference in the hotel I'd definitely stay here for ease of experience but if for a vacation I would probably choose a different option since it's a bit expensive. read more

This hotel was one of our two wedding hotels for our December wedding at the Henry Ford Museum. This hotel is just lovely. We loved the decor for the holidays and all the staff is so terrific. We brought our pup with us, and they were super kind about it. We invaded their lobby after both the rehearsal dinner and wedding and they had fantastic service each night. We did our first look there, photos with our pup, and then we also did our brunch there the day after the wedding and they had a delicious spread and great staffing help. We loved our time there and they accommodated everything we asked. Highly recommend this spot! read more

My family and I stayed 3 nights and we absolutely loved it here. This will definitely be our home away from home whenever we travel to the area. The staff was very accommodating and the food (we only had breakfast) made everyone happy. If you ever get the opportunity to meet Mr. Marty (the guest service attendant) you are in for a treat. His customer service is unparalleled. He has the sweetest personality and really adds that extra special touch to your stay. I'd definitely recommend staying here. So, I wanted to stay somewhere nice in town over the July 4th weekend, and I booked this hotel on hotels.com. This place is super nice, with a ton of amenities! It also has a fabulous art collection throughout the hotel, and most are available for purchase. Getting here, you can either self park or do valet for $25. I find that to be quite expensive, especially since it's not Chicago, New York or whatever. Since it was hot, rainy and I was tired, I did the valet. I didn't need the car for the rest of the night anyways, so take it! Walking in, the lobby is beautiful and large. They have plenty of seating, a fireplace, a bar, and a restaurant! I hung out in the lobby for a while because there were two weddings going on, and I loved the people watching. Checking in was easy, but I had a hard time figuring out where the check in desk was. I was so tired I had to ask. I found it, off in the corner. I got up to my room, and it was so pretty. Very large, nicely decorated, with a variety of cool items throughout. There was a fridge, coffee maker, closet, and a desk right away. Bed was comfy, but so were the pillows. After I got back from dinner, I went for a swim. The pool was nice, and they had a great hot tub as well. They also have a fitness center here, but I'm allergic to fitness right now, so I just kept on walking. Here is my only complaint. While swimming in the pool, I went to use the ladder to get out so I could go check my phone. I thought I heard it ring. As I was walking in the pool to get to the ladder, I stepped on something squishy. I thought it was a towel. IT WAS A DIAPER. EFF THAT. I got out and ran back to my room and immediately took a shower. I was disgusted and have never had a diaper in the pool kind of problem. I went back down to the desk to tell them but no one was there. Being that I was swimming at 9PM at night, I don't know how long it had been in there. It could have been a clean diaper that fell in, or a used one that fell. Either way, I was upset. I forgot to tell the desk gal who checked me out the next day about it. I was so tired and remembered halfway home. Did this ruin my stay? NO. But it was kind of gross. Does anyone bother to actually check the pool here? That's how the filters get ruined and then the whole pool goes down. Anyway, I would stay here again but probably not go swimming. Great facility and a beautiful place to stay. I wish I read the reviews before booking here. A waste of $$$. I don't think I'd stay here again! Certainly not on par with other 5 star hotels! The best part of the stay was Marty in Valet! The most friendly and attentive man you'll meet! Upon arrival planned on resting... that's impossible here as the doors on all rooms are set to slam EVERY TIME they're shut. So I was startled about every few minutes. When I called to the front desk they said a large group was leaving soon and it should quite down. NOT satisfactory but it is what it is. Tried to continue to test then the barking dog started. Nice 5 star hotel and they don't separate the pet rooms from regular rooms NOT satisfactory but I tried to deal as I'm a pet lover! As the noises escalated I called the front desk again and asked to move my room. I was told the hotel is very full and they don't think they can accommodate. Not satisfactory but what was I to do??? An hour later I called again as it became unbearable and feel like the desk attendant chose to mock me rather than offer any help!!! NOT satisfactory... her words were "this isn't a private place so they can't guarantee quite"!!! NO SHIT... upon leaving for dinner I stopped but the desk and rudely a woman said I can try another room now but I had people waiting so I said I would do it upon my return she replied with I won't be there so someone else might (yep might) help!!!I chose not to bother or waste my time as they obviously weren't very interested in helping me to try to enjoy my stay! Two nights and barely any sleep between barking dogs and groups of people slamming doors. With the price point I expected more... in addition to the subpar service the furniture in the room was torn and the floor was dirty. I took my shoes and socks off and by the time I walked around a bit the bottoms of my feet were black from the floor!!! Avoid this place if you're looking for a true 5 star experience. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at The Henry in Dearborn. This hotel was absolutely beautiful and our accommodations were quite nice. If you're looking for a good hotel in Dearborn, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. It's great. The Henry is named after Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company. Dearborn was Henry Ford's home city and it's also where Ford's world headquarters are located. Autograph Collection refers to a collection of luxury and boutique hotels operated and maintained by Marriott. At the time of writing this review, Marriott's Autograph Collection consists of roughly 100 hotels worldwide. Each is independently owned and are participants of Marriott Rewards. Marriott's Autograph Collection is comparable to Hilton's Curio Collection and Starwood's Luxury Collection. Outside, The Henry looks like a pretty standard hotel. Inside, it's like a contemporary art museum. It's gorgeous. I've been in my fair share of hotels, but not one as artsy as this. The interior is unique and unlike any other hotel I've stayed in. Modern art decorates the walls, not only in the common spaces, but inside the individual hotel rooms as well. All of the art is for sale. Overall, the hotel's design can be described as colorful, bold, vibrant, and swanky. I like how the look blends traditional architecture with stylish and fashionable elements. My fiancee and I stayed on the 8th floor in a room with a king bed on the front side of the hotel. The hotel has 308 rooms and isn't very tall. I want to say it has maybe 10-12 floors total. We had a view of the hotel's front entrance, driveway, and a small office park and courtyard across the way. Our room was wonderful. It had the standard amenities you'd expect from a luxury/boutique hotel such as good quality toiletries, Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea, plush robes, and more. The bed was super comfy. I loved the silky smooth and soft sheets. The tub had a large showerhead and the walls were granite tile. The TV was a smart TV with Netflix and a decent selection of HD channels. The Wi-Fi internet was sufficiently fast. All in all, it was a clean, comfortable room, and, like the rest of the hotel, it looked cool too. It was an ideal place to relax and unwind. We attended a wedding ceremony and reception in ballrooms located on the ground level of the hotel. The ceremony and reception made use of two separate ballrooms as well as the large common area/hallways outside the rooms for cocktail hour. The hallways of this hotel resemble art galleries. I guesstimate the ceremony and reception had well over 200, perhaps 300, guests. Everything seemed to go off without a hitch. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all elegant and stunning. I had a fantastic time. If I recall correctly, we paid the wedding block rate which was $139 per night. After room occupancy tax (8% = $11.12) and room sales tax (6% = $8.24), this worked out to be $158.56 per night. Not bad for a hotel of this caliber! From the moment we walked in, I was impressed. Beautiful inviting lobby. People lounging around. They have restaurant & bar area. Nicely decorated, including many art pieces. Check-in on line of you want your room earlier than the 4 p.m. time. Our room was on 3rd floor. Very comfortable and clean. Biggest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room. The view wasn't much. But the location isn't the best for scenery although easy freeway access. They do have valet, but you can save yourself money and do self park right next to the Henry. Worth the stay!!! read more

This hotel is excellent. However, this is not a luxury very high end hotel, despite the price point for the rooms. Do not delude yourself, and expect the utmost luxury. In the Fairlane Plaza, the location is perfect. The staff, valets, front desk, bell hops, housekeeping, all are consummate professionals, listen, care, volunteer to help, go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. For me, the staff and their responses during my interactions with them, are always the deciding factor when I am deciding whether to keep accommodations on my "keep" list. The rooms are well appointed, clean, and, upon request, you can get daily housekeeping services. Each room is provided with delicious coffee (full octane and decaf) as well as tea and bottled water the guest can prepare for oneself. The beds are comfortable. My handicapped room was well appointed with thoughtful placement of electrical outlets, lamp switches, handicapped bars in the bathroom. The only item I missed was a shower seat. The rest of our party was in a two double bed room adjacent, though not connecting, with my room, as we requested. We checked in around 6 pm on a Thursday and were able to get a crib for the youngest member of our group. The guest parking, including the handicapped parking, was not so far that it was impossible for me to walk to the car (I have a terrible time staying on my feet longer than 10 minutes at a time). This hotel is very busy, so make your reservations in advance, long before your trip. Special requests can be arranged by calling the hotel directly after making your on-line reservation. The hotel is decorated with beautiful artwork. I particularly enjoyed the Max pieces displayed in the passageway on the first floor from the front desk to the elevators! They really brighten one's day. I highly recommend The Henry for your Dearborn visit. read more

No heating even after several complaints filed. A tech told me the boiler needs to be turned on at basement, but got busy and forgot while working on other things broken. A room service rep suggested to find a lawyer to file a complaint when i called again. I was upset and very surprised to hear it from 4 star hotel. On-site supervisor brought two small dust filed space heaters I rejected. She brought one better later. The noisy HVAC ran all night long blowing mid temperature air along with a loud space heater to control room temperature. We were exhausted and speechless by the early morning. This wasn't acceptable solution but they didn't care. Next day i received email saying the unit works fine. They just forgot their engineers checked the room with me the night before and confirmed it wasn't working. I don't recommend this hotel because of missing and non existing hospitality and service. Absolute worst hotel experience. I booked this for my wedding weekend to surprise my new husband with the best hotel Marriott had to offer. The bathroom floors were dirty, the door knob to the closet was hanging off. The chairs leather was cracked and flaking off. There was no full length mirror (what the heck, the cheap holiday inn we stayed at last week had one, this is standard) so getting reading for my wedding was a nightmare trying to see my dress in the bathroom mirror while trying to not get my dress dirty since the floors were left dirty with mud looking streaks. The bed was so uncomfortable he couldn't sleep and he was exhausted all day on our wedding day because it. The blanket was worse than a motel 6, I got cold in the middle of the night but the only blanket on the bed was this thin blanket that made me wish I had a left over packing blanket in my car because it would have been warmer. Woke up w a sore throat from being so cold (my husband lives it cold which is fine but I need to have a blanket myself which has never been a problem), ended up loosing my voice by 4pm on my wedding day. Just absolutely horrible. Thanks for leaving a horrible shadow on my wedding weekend that can never be undone. We booked the hotel online, and as I was inquiring about the museum tickets, Felicia mentioned the price we paid was the same as one of the promotions that the hotel was running for the weekend and she changed our reservations to include the museum tickets. The hotel has really nice decor and the in house restaurant, Trio, has good food. I'll recommend getting the breakfast package. It's worth it. The Henry just oozes luxury (or fake luxury ...but let's face it, I'm not sophisticated enough to know the difference). There are plenty of chandeliers and an interesting curated selection of art on the walls. The front desk was responsive to most of the requests via the Marriott app, except for one which must have slipped through the cracks. I was there for a wedding and there was another wedding going on in on another ballroom. The amazing thing was that I didn't hear any of it from the rooms. The gym had a lot of equipment for a hotel and had a nice marble bathroom. The food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were great, but they aren't cheap (except for the $5 avocado toast). I finally found a place I can call home when I'm visiting Detriot! First, it's close enough to the airport. I love the actual hotel location as there is plenty to do right around it with decent food and shopping options. Second, it's an old Ritz, and a new autograph. It's just has a classy feel with excellent service. The rooms are very comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. The bed was excellent with different options of pillows! They have 24 hour room service which is so nice when you get in late. I love the art... It's everywhere and they give art tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Super swanky hotel. I mean, really swanky. High ceilings, crown molding, sparkling chandeliers and wall art renders this spot a luxurious feel for an affordable price. Stay here if you come to Detroit. You'll be 20-30 minutes to anywhere. Rooms are comfortable and the linens are fantastic. Fluffy! Makes you want to just plop on the bed and take a nap. Well, we didn't eat at the restaurant so I can't comment on the food here. But it did seem pricey like your typical marked-up-for-the service hotel. I do have to say, though, I really enjoyed the art on the walls. It is so full of color and texture. Just a really nice touch. 2 out of 3 computers weren't working in the business center. Bummer. (my station felt like it was operating on internet speed from 1998). And I only wish there was an outdoor courtyard or dining area. This would have been such a great bonus on our recent trip during the 4th of July. Would have been perfect for watching fireworks. Instead, we had some really great service on July 4th. The bartender opened our bottle of wine when we forgot our bottle opener. And the front desk agent gave us access to the 10th floor exclusive lounge where we watched fireworks late at night - complete with a panoramic view of the Detroit skyline and ambassador bridge. I'm really impressed with the service and the luxurious vibe here. Just get that internet crankin' up and point me to the outdoor patio area, okay? read more
