We had an exceptional take-out breakfast from the Coffee place in the Death Valley Nut & Candy Co. The taste and quality we couldn't get from 99% of restaurants. The fruit bowl was beautiful! Apple, banana, tangerines, blueberries and strawberries...every bite sweet, ripe and delicious. The whole oats with fruit was perfect. We feel great after this meal. And the coffee is excellent. I've been in here several times over the years. Most of the time it's when we're RV'ing and need a break. In the summer it's fun to stop in for the home made ice cream. Yummy stuff, and fairly reasonably priced. If you like candy or nuts, well, the name says it all. I have absolutely NO will power, so going in this place is deadly for me. They have something to satisfy any sweet tooth (or teeth) you may have. It's horrible! And, it's wonderful... Keep your kids out of this place unless you enjoy a sugar-high tot running around like a crazy person (which is what they are on sugar!). But the most amazing thing is, Beatty is this old bedraggled mining type town that looks like it's hanging on by a thread. And then there's THIS place right there! It could be downtown L.A.. Clean, modern, and well stocked with all this decadent stuff. Great rest rooms too. There used to be a first rate steak house attached to the hotel way back but I guess not enough Beatty-ites could afford steak, and not enough tourists had TIME for steak so it's closed. Last time we were here (but staying at the RV park next door), the well stocked bar was still open. They had Gentleman Jack. We fiddled with the slot machine and actually won enough to pay for our one night RV stay. Wow! There's a HUGE truck parking lot across the street now too, so if you're truckin', this could be your place. Big sign as you enter the truck parking area says "No RV's". I guess the three local RV parks demanded that be posted. Bottom line - if you're passing through Beatty, you've GOT to stop in here. If for no other reason, you have to SEE it to BELIEVE it. read more

Actually called Eddie's World the stop is a great place between Dayton & Las Vegas for fuel and refreshments. They are well known throughout the Silver State for it's quality bulk nuts and dried fruit selection. In addition, you can stock up on cases of water and other assorted drinks. We stopped here on our way home from Fallon, NV (near Reno, NV). OK, so the rest room was our goal, but the candy in the many aisles kept us in the store much longer than we expected. There are lots of favorites that you see or remember from many years ago. Some new twists to old favorites. Not just candy - we picked up some Hot and Spicy Mix, and the Sesame Stix that you normally find mixed in with a bunch of other stuff you don't want in other mixes. The point is they have a vast variety - you have the ability to mix and match what you like and make your own candy or snack mix from what they sell. Some of the prices seemed higher than expected, but others were certainly in line. As the line grew at the register - they opened another register, which was nice. This place is certainly on the must stop list if and when we make the LV to Fallon trip again. read more

I decided to brave the drive from Reno to Las Vegas earlier this week and this place was a MUST stop for me in both directions. One, I had to pee really bad and two, I needed snacks. This is like a little oasis in the desert and it is a one stop shop. The restrooms are clean, they have plenty of water/drinks, snacks, a subway, a jerky stand, ice cream, etc. It's also a gas station. Do yourself a favor and stop to get some gas(pretty good price!), something to drink, and check out all the yummy bagged snacks. It is a bit pricey for some of the snack options but they CAN charge that because they want to. I wanted to pay it that day. Last time I stopped here last weekend during a road trip to Reno, I picked up a block of white chocolate. I finished it once we reached Fallon. And yes, it was quite yummy. Lot's of rows of candy and nuts in the middle of the desert. An interesting change from a few miles away in Death Valley. The nice lady at the checkout told me that the Stagecoach Casino owns this Candy company and many other businesses' in Beatty. I was also asked her if they have a BEAT-E magnet and she said, "It's Beatty, like Warren Beatty" and got slightly defensive. It was cute and she was nice. They did not have a Beatty magnet though. :( There was tons of candy with really soon to expire expiration dates and there was also dates that were nearly a month away, so those are the bags we grabbed. My partner picked spicy pistachios and I picked chocolate covered cookie dough. Back in Death Valley, I ate the chocolate and it was delicious! Nuts were good too. The Subway shop inside this place is no worse than the usual. You're still hungry after a couple hours no matter what you ordered. Otherwise, this store is oddly empty feeling. In a town that's aching for a decent grocery store, they should shove a few of the candy bins closer together, cut back on the mountain of bottled water, and stock some basic groceries. If nothing else, it might have saved us from an overpriced and underwhelming dinner of cold sandwiches at KC's. read more

As you drive into Beatty, it is the only place we really care to stop. They are a Chevron gas station and also offer Subway, an ice cream shop and huge bulk bags of nuts and candy. Death Valley Nut & Candy is an oasis in the desert, part of a sprawling complex called Eddie's World that includes a gas station and motel. After endless miles of nothing but sagebrush and joshua trees, it's almost jarring in its garishness. Step inside, and it's immediately apparent that Eddie's World is one that revolves around candy, nuts and beef jerky, rather than a blazing hot sun. While I longed for something more substantial, I also realized I hadn't seen a proper grocery store for at least the last 100 miles, and Vegas was still some ways away. Suddenly, a sugary snack sounded PERFECT. The place is packed with row upon row of the aforementioned candy, nuts, and jerky, in every flavor imaginable. You'll find everything from licorice and candy cigarettes to oriental mixes, jalapeno jerky, garlic pistachios, trail mix, and candied almonds. There's Good 'n Plenty aplenty, a 162-game season's worth of Big League Chew, and probably enough taffy to circle the globe twice. 4 out of 5 dentists would groan over the immense selection, but kids (and adults, too) will love the variety. I was hundreds of miles away before I discovered I had inadvertently bought the wrong pistachios, picking up tequila flavored (lime and salt) instead of garlic, but it didn't matter in the least. This was a happy accident, with the sourness of the lime perfectly complementing the saltiness coating the shells. These things are addictive. I wish I'd bought a few more bags while I was at it. For a place in the middle of nowhere, DVN&C will certainly meet your needs, regardless of your craving! read more

They have every candy you can think of!! They also have the best beef jerky around!!! Even if you don't like candy its worth the stop due to the attraction! They also have ice cream and a subway. Its fun, and its worth the 10 min stop when traveling those long distances on either side of Beatty. I docked one star because of the price but due to the location it could be worse. read more

I'm a fan of the store and all the candy that they have to offer. There was one lady behind the register who was kinda dull and depressing, whereas the other cashier was very nice. They have a very big selection which is awesome. There was a subway there as well, but we were only there for the candy! There was also a jelly bean or ice cream place, but no one was behind the register so I wasn't sure if it was open or not. I would have given this place a better rating if the customer service was a lot better. read more

Lots of fabulous candy and nut selection. It is attached to the gas station next to the casino. The cashier was pretty annoyed that I "only have four gallons of gas, ugh." Located in an oversized gas station, there is bin after bin of plastic bags filled with overpriced candy or nuts. Odds are the inventory turn-over is low. I am not sure why the reviews are so high. Beatty is a town you only visit if you are going to Death Valley and this Candy store is the only thing open past 10 pm besides the casino. The candy is stale and the store lacked charm with wide open aisles and empty shelves. We spent one night in Beatty (all the lodging options inside the park are gone). While rest of the town had pretty much shut-down after 7 pm (even the chili place had ran out of chili by 6 pm - WHAT?!), we were surprised to find this place still open. The candy options are bewildering (we got a giant bag of fried vegetables to munch on for our adventure in the park the next day) and the home-made ice cream far exceeded my expectation. The sign says "welcome to eddie world" this gas station/various dried food store was actually the highlight of the town for me. They had some of the best trail mix I had ever had, and the dark chocolate covered espresso beans were my crack for a couple of days. The selection of candy and nuts and fruit and pretty much anything else that the 10 year old in side you is craving to munch on is ginourmous and the quality is really good. Maybe I'm hallucinating or something, but every time I pass through here the women's restroom is absolutely disgusting - toilets clogged with feces, water on the floor, water spilling over the counters. It's a gas station with a lot of candy, cash only ice cream counter, subway, a few souvenirs and a million gallons of water. Nice store with a large selection , it should get a good solid 3-4 star rating but what knocks it down to 1 star is the customer service I got the night I went in there on 12/5/2015 about 7 PM, the two guys up front , one had a scraggly ponytail and glasses and the other was a chubby brown haired kid, they could care less about the customers in the store, when I got up to the check stand these two rocket scientists did not say hello, they just kept talking about their personal computer problems they were having, I know Beatty is a really small town and there is not a lot to pick from for employees, but these two clowns will cost the store money from lost revenue due to bad customer service. read more

We, my whole family, go to and from California via this route all the time. We make it a point to stop at least one time, either on the way there or on the way back. Sometimes both. They have everything you can think of when it comes to candy, nuts, etc.. The jerky is one of the reasons we come as well. My son in law always buys his Jerky that we all enjoy and the dark chocolate covered espresso beans & coffee beans are always a favorite as well. We will gas up if needed and they have ice cream, espresso, coffee and if you want, a sandwich from Subway too. Though, when we were there on Monday coming home, the young lady at the subway counter who took our order was not a happy girl. Now I'm writing this to say, young lady, try to be happy you have a job and smile instead of looking mean when asking to take someones order. Also, my son in law was wanting a meatball sandwich like usual and she said they were out, but then before his other choice of sandwich was even finished, the meatballs were coming out. That was WRONG!!! Should have asked if he wanted to wait as it was a busy time anyways and we had the time. It's a OK potty/gas stop. However the womens bathroom is always GROSS! I almost always have to wait in line and a lot of times it's out of toilet paper. The floors are usually wet in weird places and always dirty with trash everywhere. I never feel comfortable going potty here but it's still better than some of the other stops on the 95, that's for sure!! Giggle Springs in Tonopah is usually a better stop. Outside of that the candy is not what I would call quality. I haven't bought any but looking at the ingredients I see a lot of high fructose corn syrup and other not ideal big factory ingredients. Prices for them are also waaaay too high for such cheaply made candy in a generic bag with generic labels, so it's not even worth getting the candy "just cause".... The souvenirs are slim and over priced as well. They have a lot of generic stuffed animals and other non-Beatty and non-NV themed stuff that's not what people look for on their stops. I like the themed souvenirs and will buy one sometimes but this place is not tempting me. PLUS, Subway makes the place stink and I don't find that appetizing either. read more
