I totally dig Irvington now with all these classic vintage homes of various sizes, styles & grandeur. The APLI is run solely by Jody whom is very friendly and kind. Not too long after my phone call, I was paying for the night and getting the tour. Once we got to the 2nd room inside the Suite, I joked to her about the old-school CRT TV (which is placed about where the old wood chair is now in the online photo). She had fun and totally played along. Shoes off policy is awesome. You're welcome to use the nearest chair for handling them. I believe she mentioned at least partial access to the kitchen. There was a cocktail lounge on the first floor (Abigail Hall) that had a great vibe with cozy seating options and delicious mixed drinks. Roseline coffee and pastries were available for purchase in the morning in the lobby. The valet parking was easy and convenient. Central location-lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Peal District is about 1.5 walk over the river. We will be back!

First, check in was...fine. No one was at the desk and we waited a bit. When someone showed up, service was fine, but short. We were given an upgrade...I guess? We had picked our room specifically when booking and were upgraded to a loft "suite." I'm not sure I'd call what we got a suite? It was a normal sized hotel room, with the bed on a raised loft. Fine, we were only there two nights and decided we initially didn't want to make a big deal of it. Now...did we sleep at all those two nights? Nope. The side of the hotel we were "upgraded" to had commercial trucks coming and going all night. When I spoke to the front desk about it the next day, they were honestly sort of dismissive. We got zero offer to move and zero offer of points, partial refund etc. As someone with Marriott status, that's entirely disappointing. We ended up getting zero sleep the two nights we were there. Also, the front desk acknowledged they knew that side was noisy-I have a quiet room in my Marriott room preferences, so if they had read that, we never should have been placed in this room. The restaurant was nice(hence two stars) -my husband tried it and said it was "fine." Offering a free martini during happy hour as part of the "resort fee" is honestly sort of ridiculous...a Michelin key should just offer that, regardless. Very disappointed. Would not stay again and would never recommend.

The room looked clean but when I ran the vacuum the first week it clogged with hair, dust and lint. I even bought a new vacuum and cleaned it over two weeks. When I asked the other "guests" they said all of the furniture was from a second hand store, so I had to clean the bed and sheets. The down stairs laundry room had a leak that was never repaired and smelled of mold. I stayed 6 months after I did a through cleaning and when I moved out he would not refund my deposit. The price is right, but the place needs a serious cleaning. Beware of what you are getting into, the roommates are great and everyone leaves you alone, the place is just in need of a serious cleaning, I am still dealing with respiratory issues from the air.

When I arrived there was nobody at the front desk for about 10 minutes. The room itself was decent enough, and the bartenders downstairs were very friendly. There's also an excellent Greek food cart a short walk away, left out of the entrance and across the street, although with no nearby crosswalk. There's also a coffee spot just past the Greek place. The in-room coffee situation was oddly complicated. Instead of standard coffee packets, they used a tea-bag-style steeping system that had to be specially requested from the front desk for delivery, and a couple times I asked they were completely out of caffeinated options. I ended the stay with a dozen decaffeinated packets, if that's your thing. Mornings downstairs had a very "bumping zombies" energy with lots of half-awake sleepy guests wandering around for coffee and food. There was also a false fire alarm that went off about half a dozen times during the stay. One night the cook was unavailable and the bar (where food was served) seemed to descend into confusion after that. On the plus side, there's a nearby Target just a short drive away if you need groceries or supplies. Not a bad stay overall, but definitely a place where the staff friendliness was carrying a lot of operational inconsistency. However the friendliness was enough to push this to 4 stars.

The breakfast area workers have lots of smiles and are friendly. However, the morning lady at the reception desk was not so friendly when I requested to get another key because I lost mine. The people at the bar also got no smiles when I requested the complementary drinks offered by the hotel as a welcoming gesture for the guests, smiles are free so be generous, otherwise it defeats the purpose of these offers by the hotel. The bartender guy was good with smiles.

I have never in my life believed in phenomenon that are manifest in any considerable way. However, I say this genuinely staying here for one night the seven that we were supposed to stay changed my and my girlfriend's life forever. it would take an entire book for me to write the experience out however, I will say that dressed in black satin robes rose from my while I was after falling asleep beside my girlfriend dress had caught on fire just prior to laying down. Oh, and there's so much more I give it five stars because it changed my life. I respect everyone who goes there. Everyone who stays there everyone who works there and everybody who will end up, enjoying even a minute there whether or not they're aware of what surrounds them .

So people who are expecting a full-24 hr hotel, this is different. Fire pit area is a great place to meet people from literally all over the world. Super clean, quality furnishings and bedding, really well maintained. Other than the little dining table (which looked like it had a bit of age but not a big deal), there wasn't a scratch, stain or chip of paint to be found. Incredibly cozy once the curtains are all closed. We also loved the rope lights in the common area after they lit up in the evening. The location didn't seem to be in a particularly bad/sketchy area, but I appreciate that the lot is completely fenced and gated off. Fortunately for us there were always some open spots to park on the neighborhood street right outside. There are several restaurants within walking distance, which are also listed in the guest book inside each house. The bathrooms may be a bit cramped and some outlets positioned a bit inconveniently, but I suppose that's to be expected in a tiny house. That being said, highly recommend staying here! Nothing else like it. We'd love to come back here again, but now the question is: do we choose a new tiny house, or return to the hallowed and revered Boho Wagon of yore?

I did enjoy having the nice couch, though there were some stains on it. The view wasn't anything too special, it overlooked the next-door building. The bathroom was clean, well lit, and I enjoy not having the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and instead the larger containers for less waste. It was generally quiet in the room, though you could hear the light rail go by. Wasn't a huge fan of the fact that the mini fridge was full of things that if I touched it would charged my room. If you wanted to bring leftovers from nearby restaurant, you can't because there's no space in the fridge to put things. Overall it was a good place to stay while in Portland.

So when you come in, pass the valet riveters to the left, and take the elevator up. The check-in process was fast, but the elevators took longer than they did. To access the elevators to the room floors, you need a key unless you're going down to the 1st floor or lobby. There's a restaurant on the 15th floor that had a line at the elevator because they wanted to access it without a key, and I think that's what kept the elevator area busy. The rooms are pretty big and spacious, with your usual amenities and mini-bar items. The couch was a good size. However, the TV does not move, so if you are on the couch and watching TV, the angle is sideways. The in-room dining menu is limited, with little selection, and even the restaurant/bar behind the lobby has a limited food menu. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were very flat when you lay on them. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and nice
