I'm so sorry that other people seem to have had a difficult time with the Groupon and Debora, because we had an AMAZING experience with her at her studio. She was professional, and thorough, the photos she took- there were 4 of us with a squirmy and occasionally photo-shy little one- were so great , we had a hard time picking the perfect one for our Xmas card. When we did choose, everyone I know was so impressed with the photo that I've gotten more compliments on it than any other group photo we've ever done. Her studio was fantasic, and while again, the other reviewers weren't happy we thought it was just perfect. I've worked with many photographers over the past 25 years, but Debora Spencer has got to be the most professionally talented artist I've had the opportunity of working with in the PNW. Her style is both unique and vibrant with the ability to convey subtle messaging that only a seasoned pro can orchestrate. Her turnover and timely delivery on a deadline is bar none. Truthfully, I'm very confused as to why all the 1 star reviews on here. Most of the reviewers don't seem to have very many reviews under their belt...pretty suspicious to me. Debora Spencer is one of the most talented photographers in the Northwest. She created images of me, that brought tears to my eyes they were so beautiful. She was able to pull out the essence of me through the photos and I will cherish the images forever. She is incredibly easy to work with, polite, friendly, positive and easy going demeanor. DEBORA SPENCER PHOTOGRAPHY is nothing short of AMAZING. I booked her services for a two-hour shoot at several locations in downtown Seattle and was impressed with every aspect, from the booking to the delivery of photos. She was prompt, well equipped, flexible, and above all else professional. The occasion for this shoot was our elopement at the Municipal Court of Seattle and afterwards at the Olympic Sculpture Garden. If she can make shots beautiful and interesting in the fluorescent glow of a sky-scrapper court house, then she can make any environment work, and work well. It was an overcast day in Seattle, but every shot was just brilliant. Her shots are now my treasured memories immortalized in her amazing works of art. I recommend her to everyone I know! I understand that she focuses more corporate and high-art shoots, but if you email her and present your needs/ideas, I bet she will work something out to accommodate your requests. Got the offer on Groupon. If you still have the coupon, you are better off switching it back to Groupon credits or getting as much of a refund as possible. Debora seemed like an amature photographer who did not know how to handle lighting outdoors to basic photography composition. Her studio is one of the most run down I have ever seen and her bathroom is in need of some serious cleaning. The photos on her website looks great, but don't expect the same kind of treatment nor class when she takes it for you. I wished I had screened her before purchasing the so called offer on Groupon. Purchased two offers from Groupon, one for my boyfriend and I and one as an early graduation gift for my sister. Was unable to get a hold of the photographer even after I left multiple voice messages. Needless to say, my sister also didn't get her senior pictures taken in time and had no luck in contacting the photographer. I can't comment on the quality of the pictures, as I am sure the photographer is probably good enough in order to have a studio. But certainly wasn't impressed by the lack of professionalism. I wish I just got at least a call back or something, and wasn't ignored as a consumer. If you still have the groupon deal, contact groupon soon and address your concern! the deal expires february 24, 2011. My son and I had a photo session with Debora today- I too bought that Groupon. I was very impressed with her, she was friendly, she put my son at ease, took some great photos of him and burned me a CD of them right on the spot (as well as edited some of them). Both my son and I thought her studio was awesome- I love those old buildings down on Western Ave. All in all, it was an awesome experience and even my little boy thinks Debora is a lovely person. My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Debora. And with the Groupon it was an especially crazy good deal. It was a beautiful and sunny day so she took several shots outside (her studio is located between the ferry dock and Pioneer Square, perfect for outdoor shots!) and several more inside. I had an appointment scheduled on Monday 8/22/11 to use my Groupon. Debora called to cancel 2 hours prior because of illness. More notice would have been nice, but whatever. I hadn't heard from her by Wednesday, so I called to reschedule and her voicemail box was full. I sent a friendly email and got no response. I called periodically over the next week and left a couple of voicemails and sent one more email asking her to please contact me that day so that we could reschedule. Radio silence.... this woman has gone completely dark. What a horrible way to run a business! Who does this?!?! I am very disappointed. I don't understand why someone would sign up for Groupon and then not honor them. It's very tacky and dishonest. Do not book a photo session with this person! read more

Steer clear! Yes, she is pleasant in person but wait until you try to get what you paid for. She takes forever, gives lots of excuses, doesn't remember who you are, and is overall unprofessional. We, too, purchased the groupon deal and maybe that has something to do with her lack of attention. Maybe she's overwhelmed, maybe she's just unprofessional. I got a groupon and was very displeased. She treated us as if we weren't worth her time. If she did not want to give people the "deal" she offered in groupon, she shouldn't have offered it. She took pictures as if she was saving film, even though it was digital. We only had a few pictures to choose from, and we ended up with not one usable picture. Not one! It wasn't even worth following up with the included digital correction. Awful. read more

Bought the deal she offered through Groupon too and she would not follow through with what her offer stated. It states "Choose any location within 10 miles of downtown Seattle to prove your photogenic chop." She went on to say that in order for it to be "fair" to everyone else she can only go to the two locations close to her studio and she only has one hour for each appt. and that she books one after another. When I expressed my unhappiness to travel to another location, she said "I don't think you realize what a great deal you are getting!" I said "good deal or not, your Groupon states this and now you are telling me you can't follow through with your advertised offer? She sternly told me to call Groupon and get my money back, said "bye" and hung up on me!!!! She also claimed that she was doing me a favor by working weekends as the Groupon did not state she would work weekends. (???) As far as I'm aware, the bulk of photography is done on the weekends when families and weddings are available. read more

I got an appointment with Debora two days before my Groupon expired. I had heard great things from my friends who had used the same Groupon six months prior. I wasn't sure how much personal attention I would get since she had booked appointments all day almost every day leading up to the deadline. The photo session was great. She booked me later in the evening so I had time to go home and change and arrive a little early for my scheduled appointment. Despite being booked solid, she let me change once at her studio and take photos in two different outfits. She was bubbly, energetic and fun despite working for 12 hours straight. She got some fantastic photos of me that I can use for professional business headshots as well as a few beauty shots. If you are used to having a leisurely two hour session, then the Groupon deal was probably not to your liking. However I think it was a fantastic deal. Besides, who gives you a burned CD, with touched-up photos on the spot? I don't know how many weeks I've had to wait for other professional photographers to provide my photos. I'm rating my experience with Debora Spencer Photography here and not the photography itself. I got a groupon and when I tried to schedule my appointment I was not able to do it. I tried to call the place and took me a few tries to be able to leave a voice-mail message because the voice-mail box was full. My voice-mail messages were not returned. I sent e-mails and my e-mails were not responded to either. Then we went on vacation and meanwhile my groupon expired. What a waste of time and money. I was very disappointed. read more
