I have been to multiple acupuncturists in the past, and I can confidently say that Debra has been the most patient and understanding, while also being extremely organized and pragmatic. I came in for a consultation for sinus and gut pain, and Debra sat down with me and created a plan for my treatment. Hi Debrah, I am not sure where you are really going with this. You are apologizing and still trying to tell me you're in the right for a situation that occured over a year ago. Not to mention, after I posted my review, I found you creeping my linkedin immediately. Then responding to my review over a year later trying to tell me you're right. This is crazy. I called Amazon and explained my situation and experience, and they issued me a partial refund and documented this. Like I said previously, you never said you would charge me for an appointment when I already paid for my amazon voucher. I explained the whole situation to you. When I came in, you never said any of this and began treatment. When the "mixed signals" came up, with you asking for money at the end of my visit, you were rude and yelled at me in front of everyone that I should be sorry. This resulted in me leaving with you still demanding money out of me. Your messages are further frustrating because you think its OK to act and behave like this. Debra is a gentle soul with a great approach to wellness. I have been experiencing multiple health issues all at once (some being a result of others) and Debra listened carefully as I went through my medical history. She is very thoughtful when considering the correct path forward and every session with her is incredibly helpful. This was my first time trying acupuncture and Debra put my mind at ease. I have, at this point, been back for a total of 5 sessions with additional sessions scheduled. I have been frustrated by my recent medical issues and Debra always makes it a point to make recommendations that will help me even in between sessions. I went to see Debra for multiple issues ranging from trying to regulate periods, back pain and even overall stress and anxiety due to my busy schedule. I have been seeing her for acupuncture for a few months now and after each session, I come out of there like a new person fully rejuvenated and stress free. My back pain has minimized to almost nothing (back pain from work). We are still working on regulating my periods, which does take time, but the one thing I was not expecting to happen was my moderate-severe seasonal allergy problems have almost completely subsided. I highly recommend Debra Wood at Acupuncture Wellness. I first came to Debra when I was 20 weeks pregnant and seeking relief from allergies. I was suffering as a result of not being able to take my usual medications. Receiving one-two treatments per week since then, I have found my allergy symptoms significantly reduced. As my pregnancy has progressed, Debra has helped me deal with other issues that developed, the most serious of which has been borderline preeclampsia. Since Debra has been treating me for high blood pressure, my numbers have indeed improved. Wow. It had been a while since I had acupuncture. The last time Debra Wood treated me, I got pregnant (that was the idea!!) when I was well past the highly fertile age. So, I have been being a mom for three years and hadn't been back. Shame on me! I arranged the time yesterday, and found myself relaxed in a beautiful, dimly lit room, a kind face above me, gently and painlessly dropping (it felt like dropping, not sticking!) hair-thin needles into my skin. I instantly relaxed. She checked out my belly, so tight from "energy stagnation", and then that too relaxed and as the needles did their thing. I drifted into a quiet bliss state, the idea appearing in my mind that getting a treatment each week, even as a busy working mom, was possible. And necessary. Oh, and something new I had never seen was a laser that targets pain directly. She used this on my aching computer arm and it's the first relief I've had in months. I've been to five different acupuncturists in the Boston area over the last 20 years. All of them have been good, but Debra is the whole package. She has deep knowledge of the body and its systems and can communicate that, she's patient, interested, understanding, (even injecting humor right when you need her to) and above all, she is wicked professional. Debra Wood at Wellness Acupuncture was a very detail-oriented acupuncturist who listened to me as her patient and took a lot of information about my condition, my body, and my medical history before we even started care. Even just filling out her patient intake form left me impressed with how thoughtful she was about getting to know who she was treating! Then, she created a very specific plan of care and progressed it or altered it when we needed to. Debra was a referral from a mutual friend that had good experiences working with her. What lead me down the path to Debra and acupuncture was pain that my primary care physician and physical therapist specialist could not resolve. Debra is excellent. Attentive, listens and really works carefully with clients to achieve maximum benefit of the session. Very gentle placing the acupuncture needles. Knowledgeable, her accessments with me, and suggestions to correct and alleviate pain have been nothing but amazing. Most recently I pulled a muscle in back, at onset the spasms made me almost vomit and painful enough I really couldn't focus - Driving required all my attention through gritted teeth. I called Debra, she slotted me in, and after one session and some suggested stretches I was more than 50% better, astounded. As I was checking out I noticed Debra was reviewing muscular anatomy of the lower back, I commented, she replied she wanted to double check and see if there were areas around the site or alternative spots for needles that would help my situation. I stumbled into my first appointment with Debra in pain and using a cane, and after 2 months of once-a-week acupuncture treatment I can walk three miles cane-free and pain-free (possibly more, but I don't want to push it for now). Before seeing Debra, I had gone to a traditional physical therapy mill and conscientiously had done all their canned exercises -which had only made my situation worse. I'm now a firm believer in acupuncture, at least as practiced by Debra. For acute immediate-post-surgical care, a good PT (if there are actually any out there) MIGHT be able to help, although two sets of PT practices actually made me worse (and that's according to a traditional MD!). Debra listens to you, adjusts her treatment accordingly, and makes suggestions that may be helpful, or you may choose to reject them and she won't take it personally. And on a personal level, her warmth and caring make you feel immediately comfortable. I was seriously worried that I would never be able to walk normally again, and here I am - walking normally! I strongly recommend Debra. I am not a crystal-worshipping, alternative-anything kind of person, but the Chinese and Japanese definitely have something worthwhile that Western practitioners are finally beginning to acknowledge, and Debra is a well-schooled practitioner. I am SO happy I went to her. At the risk of sounding overdramatic, I feel as if I finally have my life back because walking is so important to me. read more
