To say this place is cool is a gross understatement. They have an amazing selection of architectural savage so if you are looking for doors or cast iron sinks and things like that, these guys have it and much more and prices are killer. I'm guessing that's their mainstay but what totally takes this place over the top is all the rest of the stuff they have. For a guy who loves crusty pieces with character that I can repurpose into something else, this is a goldmine. I found this place while in the area on business and one piece in particular caught my eye. A big old hand riveted tank. Sucker weights over 1000lbs. None of knew exactly what it was but that's just part of the fun right? Bought it on the spot after talking to the folks and owners who if you look up Uber Cool in the dictionary, their pics come up. They loaded that beast up and I drove 350 miles back to the KC area. Come to find out it's an old pressure tank that was made by Kewanee Boiler between 1905-1920. Now where can you find neat shit like that I ask you? Salvage Candy is where. I'm already planning a return visit as these folks rock and their selection and prices are to die for. This is the kind of place where you could walk through a dozen different times and STILL manage to find something unique that you didn't see before. All pieces are clearly marked and priced. I found a few pieces of really cool jewelry from the 1960s and a brass planter with brick etching design. And then I came back the next day to buy more brooches! The gal at the front was eager to unlock a few cases for me to browse the jewelry. She also wrapped my glass pieces so they'd travel well on my drive home.

We found some interesting and inexpensive stuff, like a $5 red Asian rug runner in perfect shape. It's not unlike a fleamarket and has different stall-like areas. There is an interesting clock/watch shop, another that has tons of costume jewelry. There is such a wide variety of stuff at reasonable prices, that it's tough to really describe the diversity. There are ladders and pails and tools, and flags, and so much stuff. Worth a browse if you're in the neighborhood. Totally curious, only mildly organized. That's what makes it fun, I suppose. It's about two miles W of Abyss, another interesting thrift store. They're very dissimilar. You'll see what I mean.
