Dr.Paknia was horrible!! I knew I had a fungus infection after having a pedicure done. I waited weeks for an appointment, when the doctor came into the room, he did nothing to help me. Did not touch me, he didn't even put gloves on. He wanted me to come back in a couple months to get his sample taken. He refused to do it then, he seemed as though he couldn't even be bothered to answer my questions. I wanted to ask for my co-pay back and then call my insurance company since he couldn't be bothered to do his job, I don't feel he should get paid. I went to another podiatrist office a week later, and the doctor said that it was definitely a fungus infection, took a sample and then treated me immediately!! read more

I've been to Dr. Paknia twice for ingrown toenails. He has a very calm and chill temperament, which really helps with my needle related anxiety. Plus, both times, the procedure was done in less than ten minutes! He is the go-to for toenail issues! read more

In addition to the overall tenor of the place, the treatment plan I was given by de Caro was completely wrong--two physical therapists and a foot and ankle surgeon have all just scratched their heads when they've heard it--and I now have considerable damage to my ankle ligaments to show for it. read more

If I could give 10 stars to DeCaro Total Foot Care Center I would! The staff is always super friendly and efficient. Dr. DeCaro is an incredibly nice human and a top notch doctor. I saw Dr. DeCaro for plantar fasciitis in both of my feet, at different times. I did a few rounds of cortisone shots in each foot to help with the pain. At the end of February I got my custom made orthotics. When March rolled around I realized I wasn't having any pain. Not only was the plantar fascia pain gone, but so was the knee pain, hip pain and IT band issues I had spent the previous year and a half in PT 2x a week trying to control. I also realized my lower back pain was gone. I had seen a chiropractor monthly for the previous 10 years. I still can't believe I am pain free each day. As a result of being pain free I am walking 5 miles a day and doing aerobics most days. I feel great and I have also lost about 35lbs, in part because I can move without pain. I am so thankful I made the choice to purchase custom made orthotics from DeCaro Total Foot Care Center. It has given me my mobility back! Thanks to the entire staff!! read more

My 2 year old has had toe pain for quite awhile. I had to wait two months to be seen. They asked me to come in at 3:15 for a 3:30 appointment as patients are required to be there early. I had been there once before myself and waited 35 minutes to be seen. I am very conscientious about being on time for things. I left a play date early to put my son down for his nap early, and woke him up early so we would be on time. I rushed us out the door without taking my cell phone...to be on time. It was a normally 25 minute drive. On one road close to the office something strange was going on, and we were backed up on that road for an extra 15 minutes. I did not have my cell phone to call them. I drive that road regularly and had never seen it so backed up. When we got there it was 1 minute past our actual appointment time of 3:30. I apologized. The receptionist said, "I'll have to rebook you." Are you serious?? I told her the situation. She said it was Decaro's policy to not see anyone if they are AT ALL late for their appointment. Even one minute. She said "you could have called." I told her i didn't have a cell with me. I told her my son has been in pain. She seemed genuinely sympathetic through hr stoicism, but there was nothing she could do, it is DeCaros policy. I said, "so if i had a cell phone on me, we would have been seen?" she said she didnt know but she could have talked to him. Why couldnt she have talked to him at 3:31? He was still with the previous patient, anyway. Then she tried to rebook me 3 weeks out. Needless to say, I have booked with a different podiatrist. Now my son will have toe pain for another two weeks until he can be seen. UPDATE: Two weeks later, I received a bill for $25, claiming we were a "no show." I am going to call to dispute it, but am pretty sure that he wields all the power in this situation. Beware of this double standard policy and the disappointment it can cause if the i foreseeable happens. I was only told i "needed to be there early", not the fact I would be turned away one minute late then charged. Also, not a friendly place to wait with your toddler as required, as there was not one toy in the waiting room. read more

Though I appreciated seeing Dr. Paknia and his care of my foot pain issues, this past year has been a real challenge with my orthotics. I have had to go back a few times to get the orthotic adjusted and it's still not right. I understand with covid that there is a lag time in between appointments with the orthotic technician. The main issue I am having is that I feel lied to regarding the bill. I was told the orthotic adjustments were part of the package and when I would come into the office, I would check to make sure I was all set and was told yes. Two months later I received a bill for my December visit. They told me they waved the copay but that I was charged for a visit. So there is a copay and a visit charge. Every time I have gone in there I have felt nickled and dimed and this just was the last straw. Even though they still have not completed adjustments to the orthotic, I won't be returning. And now I cannot recommend them as a place to attend to anyone footcare needs. read more

I have seen Dr. DeCaro for at least eight years. His advice and care allowed me to recover from severe plantar fasciitis in record time! Part of the therapy was custom orthotics, which I would never go without since. Yes, they are more expensive than the inserts you can buy at CVS, but they are worth every penny! And after I broke my ankle he was instrumental in my ongoing recovery and the re-establishment of my normal gait. I have recommended Dr. DeCaro to several friends and family members and everyone has been completely satisfied. My mother sees him for her regular foot care covered under Medicare. My husband was seen for damage to a toenail which occurred during a long distance race (Dr. DeCaro is especially good with sports injuries!). My son had an ingrown toenail removed and experienced relief immediately. The office staff has been consistently kind, helpful, and courteous. We have had no problems with scheduling appointment times or having to wait to be seen --- we are always taken into a treatment room quite quickly. And the waiting room is pleasant, for the few moments that we are waiting. WE LOVE DOCTOR DECARO! read more

The receptionist was very nasty upon checking in. Having back and foot surgery I asked if I could fill out the information they requested at the desk,there were no other people in the waiting room and it is difficult for me to sit bent over and fill out paperwork. The receptionist said no you can go to the table off to the side. There was no table to the side. She then asked me for my co pay,which I gave to her, then I asked if she received the medical records from my doctor and she said no. I called the dr in another state and they said the records were sent 10 days prior. I went to the receptionist and slide the window open about 4 inches and she became irate. In a raised voice she told me not to touch her window, she proceeded to tell me that I was in a foul mood since I got there. I told her that I did everything she asked me to do. I don't appreciate being spoken to the way she spoke to me. I don't see how this group stays in business with such a nasty person at the front desk. She then told me to leave! Wow..do not go to this group. Nasty nasty nasty. This was only part of what she said to me. If that's how they treat new customers I don't want to be involved with them. read more

They scam their patients and I do not recommend going there. I was charged an office visit ($90) to be told they were sending me somewhere else. They will not refund my co-pay. This is something that could have been handled at my first visit or via the phone. There was absolutely no reason I needed to be seen. I took time off from work and my time and money was wasted. I started seeing Dr. DeCaro about 12 years ago when I developed Achilles tendinitis. With his care and treatment, I was able to resume running and competing in marathons, half iron triathlons and participating in long distance bicycle touring trips. All these years later and I am still going strong. I did develop a severe toe infection during a long distance running relay four years ago that required IV antibiotics and the removal of my toenail. Again Dr. DeCaro took care of me with compassion and skill and while I had to be off my foot for a week, I was lucky gave have such excellent care and get back on the roads and trails fairly quickly. I've sent several friends and colleagues to him over the years, not to mention my wife and one of my kids. They have also been very pleased with Dr. DeCaro's care and treatment. I just left the offices of DeCaro Foot Care Center. I let them copy my insurance card and filled out the paperwork. Then, the receptionist tole me co-pay was $35, the most of any doctor's visit, and that I must pay in advance. I explained that at the age of 75, having paid every doctor for my whole life, I had never once paid at the door, paid for coming in, but not for treatment, before having even seen the doctor. What was clear to me is that the doctor Decaro's polic, at the door, excludes those who are sick, but cannot pay the EXTRA amount, the co-pay. This is an unbelievably bad practice with condescending and unprofessional doctors and office staff. First, let me say that the first time I was seen by Nikki Perkins, she was 30 minutes late and did not actually examine my foot. She looked at it from literally four feet away. She told me I needed an over-the-counter anti-fungal medication that they happened to sell, called "Formula 3." I asked for a prescription medication but she insisted that I try this first (despite the fact that a different prescription had already failed to address the problem). Ok, I tried it. It didn't work. I gave it six months. I called to ask again for the prescription med, which she had mentioned I'd need if their treatment didn't work. They insisted that I come in. I made an appointment, and I was a few minutes late (less than 10) because of a health issue. They refused (very officiously) to see me at all. The person who had driven with me couldn't believe they really wouldn't see me, so I called from the parking lot and I asked them to ask the doctor. Nikki Perkins got on the phone and said it was Dr. Decaro's policy that you have to be there 15 minutes EARLY and wait for them, even if you're a returning patient. No one had told me this. She spent 10 minutes on the phone, snottily explaining their policy, instead of seeing me, which would have taken 2 minutes. This is an extremely dysfunctional office and their policy of selling their own so-called treatments, instead of prescribing medication that will actually help, seems designed as a money-making scheme, not a way to help patients. When I did a search about formula 3, I saw this in Podiatry Today: "In addition to the medical benefits, dispensing Formula 3 in our clinic has also been a good business decision," notes Mitchell R. Waskin, DPM, FACFAS. "We have a foot products mini-store within our clinic. Of all the products we sell, Formula 3 consistently produces more profit each month than any other item." Additionally, the box the bottle comes in says that it's to be used for athlete's foot. It literally says right on it: "This product is not effective for scalp or nail." I was supposedly having a nail treated, but with a product that has a disclaimer that says it does not work! Go to this office if you are interested in lining the pockets of a podiatrist without actually being helped. read more

My apologies for being late on writing this review. We support a gentleman with Down's Syndrome and we never had to sit in the waiting room more than five minutes. For the past 8 years we've found Dr. DeCaro and his staff professional and personable---five stars to him and his staff. It's a pleasant place to go for an appointment; fun and entertaining from the women at the front desk to the back examining room. The last time I was in this hack's office, he twisted by New balance shoes into all kinds of contortions while yelling at me that the constant injuries I was experiencing were the shoes fault, not because of the $500 orthotics that had split in half during a bicycle ride. I subsequently went to Fournier Foot Care in Northampton and had new orthotics made. They took some adjusting (which De Caro had been unwilling to consider with the ones I bought from him) but I have now been running safely since the fall of 2010. De Caro is a scam artist who tries to get you to buy the shoes he gets a cut on and the orthotics he makes a fortune on. Any problem, he yells at you and tells you it's your own fault. read more

Dr. Paknia and Michelle are excellent. Great bedside manner, made me feel very comfortable. I had an ingrown toenail removed and did not feel a single thing - not even the anesthetic injection. The entire procedure took about 5 minutes and I left feeling great. I also didn't feel any soreness or tenderness for the rest of the day. Very thorough post op instructions and I had no questions. Would highly recommend! I gave this office 4/5 stars because the front office personnel leave much to be desired. They did NOT make me feel welcome or comfortable as I was new to the practice. I work in the health care field and would be appalled at my front office staff if this was the way new patients- or any patients- were treated. read more

I am shocked to read about the bad experiences some patients had at DeCaro foot center, because my husband and I can not say more about the wonderful treatment we got from everyone at the center: from the receptionist and the nurse to the great Dr. Shaneekwa Perkins. My husband had an injury and went from the primary physician who recommended an orthopedic and after little progress he decided to see a podiatrist. With no recommendations from anyone he ended up calling calling DeCaro's office (from google search) and within days he got an appt. with the extraordinary Dr. Perkins. He came home not only informed (educated) about the injury, the reason why he was not improving, but also with cheaper orthotics and the knowledge necessary to prepare for our 7 days pilgrimage of El CAMINO DE SANTIAGO in Spain. Actually, he made me an appointment after he saw her. I was impressed with the time Dr. Perkins spent introducing herself and getting to know us (we went together the second appt). She thoughtfully answered all of our questions, and we ASK questions. She is not only extremely knowledgeable and expert in the field but she put effort in building doctor-patient relationship the kind you barely experience when you go to the doctor. We are extremely satisfied and definitely recommend the center without reservations. 10/10 to Dr. Shaneekwa Perkins!! you are GREAT!! read more
