My boyfriend and I stayed here last night and the rooms were amazing! We came down for breakfast…read moreand the breakfast was really good as well as the service. We chatted with the lady who set out the breakfast and she was a sweetheart. 10/10 stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in the Mount Zion, Decatur, or Forsyth area.

Not sure why the low rating . . . maybe just not a lot of updated reviews. My first stay and my…read morefirst night, but trust, if things go sideways, I will updated immediately. Large, clean, bright, open property in an area with a lot of stores and chain restaurants. But the Residence Inn is back off the main highway, so it's quieter. Can't say much for my view, as it's a Lowe's garden center, but that's okay . . . I'm here to work nights, not gaze across picturesque vistas. Staff was welcoming and helpful on checkin and gave me my Bonvoy elite bag with candy and water (and there was another waiting in the room with VIP note). My company booked the double bedroom suite for some reason, which is more than I need, but this would be super helpful for a family or friends, or someone visiting for a wedding or family reunion etc. There is one master suite with ensuite bathroom and one bedroom that is a queen bed and a bathroom across the hallway. One bathroom has a tub and one is a shower. And each room has its own TV, in addition to the TV in the main area. Room is clean. Plenty of storage, a lot of closet space. Not as many drawers as I am used to, and as some have noted, the drawers don't stay closed. But *shrugs* no big deal. Spacious kitchen, full fridge, full stove, dishes, small dishwater, etc. Island with four high top seats. Spacious living area with a desk and chair, regular chair, and a couch. My only suggestion for this area is that they provide a little more lighting, like a floor lamp. If the kitchen lights aren't on, it can be a little dark, which is fine for me, but maybe not everyone. They do have morning breakfast and evening happy hours. Large lobby and common area at the entrance, with lots of places to gather with friends and family to enjoy the complimentary drinks during those times. When I arrived, several people were laughing and enjoying wine. Very open with high ceilings, yet cozy. My only complaint is the TV options are super limited. There is no streaming. Just plain cable. And usually I travel with adapters and HDMI cables so I can use my phone and laptop, but am traveling light this time around. Mistake! HGTV it is I guess. But otherwise, clean, updated, conveniently located property. Update: still a nice property, but the drawers not staying closed did become a hazard. Not only trying to not bang into their sharp corners, my clothes were so heavy in some drawers that they tipped over the chests. Also, I did notice this is the least staffed front desk I've ever seen, though that didn't affect my stay.

This hotel is now called Garner Hotel Decatur-Forsythe…read more Me and my 2 sisters arrived at the hotel on April 24, 2026. I examined the room as well as the beds and found hair in one of the beds and a reddish color stain on the sheet. I went to the front desk to ask the front desk clerk to come to the room to witness what I saw and asked for another set of sheets to change the linen. She acknowledged the hair and stain and said that it just got missed. She gave me a new set of linen and I changed the linen. I later discovered other problems in the room such as no hand soap in the dispenser in the bathroom. I went to ask the front desk for some and was given a bottle. There were red stains on the curtains, carpet and wall, which we also told the front desk about. She offered to have someone clean it the next day and when they came at 3 pm the next day, we told them we were about to leave and we would be checking out the next day so don't worry about it. I took pictures of some of it. We had already gotten settled into the room at that point and had other obligations while in town visiting. We asked if the TV could be turned on in the breakfast area and was told that they did not know how to turn it on. There was no TV in the lobby area at all, which was unusual. Overall the experience was not good for us and the rooms should've been better prepared and cleaner. There needs to be a TV in the Lobby and the TV in the breakfast area should be operable as well. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I will definitely not be staying here again. The customer service could be friendlier as well. I found myself apologizing for bothering the staff each time, but they never said "I'm sorry for the problems you're having, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, Can we move you to another room?, how was your stay, or ANYTHING...They need training in customer service skills for sure!!!

I was in town for a wedding and the hotel room was not worth the price I paid and that was including a wedding discount. Firstly, the door didn't fit the frame, so someone could see inside the room from outside. How invasive! Secondly, there happened to be a CONCERT inside the hotel the same nights, and the parking lot was so loud that no one in my room could sleep. People were blasting music directly under my window, and the windows aren't sealed well, so it was like the window wasn't even there. There was also erratic driving in the parking lot, I thought someone was going to get hit or there would be an accident (speeding, burnouts, etc). I called the front desk, and I saw a worker walk around but nothing changed. It was from before 10pm to after 2am at least. I ended up calling the police twice and the dispatcher said they had gotten multiple calls already. Unacceptable. I have videos of all this from my room with time stamps as well. There was no warning anywhere that this concert was going to happen (not Facebook, any concert ticket sites, or the Hotel website!). Lastly, the entire place smelled like cannabis. Anytime we went into the hallway or lobby, that smell latched onto us. Disgusting. Still waiting to receive my $50 deposit as well... My only positive note: The breakfast wasn't bad.

The night before we arrived, the hotel got robbed. Bad omen. The first room we got was room 333: - door was hard to open and one of the keys didn't work - bugs around the window frame and we killed them all. There was a beetle and a few flies. - Deadbolt did not work. Unsafe. - Missing comforter on bed, only a flat sheet and a decorative sheet The second room we got was room 206: so much wrong that I'll have to have different categories to describe everything Bathroom: - bathroom wasn't cleaned from previous guest - Garbage and Target clothing hangers left over from previous guest. Housekeeping obviously doesn't really clean. - Random pubes on toilet seat - Toilet didn't flush well - Makeup stains all over hairdryer and bathroom counter tops left from previous guest - 1/4 used bottle of complimentary shampoo. Chose not to use it. Eww. - Curved shower curtain didn't close due to improper installation, causing water to splash all over the bathroom when showering. Instead of installing it properly bowing outward, it was installed with the dip facing the center downwards, so the curtain was always half open. - Water aerator/flow restrictor on faucet means you stand there forever trying to rinse soap off your hands because the water comes out in such tiny droplets. - Everything is fixed with caulking Beds: - One bed wasn't made from previous guest so I'm guessing the sheets weren't changed either. Yellowed pillow didn't even have a pillowcase. Maid just tossed back the comforter and threw the pillows lazily on top. - Comforter had multiple blood stains, unknown stains, and was ripped - Mystery white stain on bed ruffle. Looks like dried bodily fluid. Technology: - TV remote didn't work - Cable went in and out - Alarm clock didn't work - Phone didn't work. Hope you don't need to call 911. My cell had poor reception here. - Lamp was turned off by me, and then it spontaneously turned on by itself, and then off again! Horror movie! I'll admit this one spooked me. - Wondering if smoke detector works. If it does, the folks smoking marijuana and my other neighbor smoking meth in their room didn't set it off. - Overheard worker saying the camera in the lobby doesn't work Miscellaneous: - Window frame was falling apart - Series of bulletholes poorly patched in room. Made no attempts to disguise bullet holes. Also, who got shot?! - Side note: what looks like dried blood on opposite side of wall - Note from research: google Econo Lodge Decatur shooting. Guess that explains the bullet holes. On June 20, 2019, there was a robbery and attempted murder using a gun. - Highstrung man who went for a run from one end of the hallway to the other end for 10 minutes was kind of terrifying. Would've called front desk to check on him but the PHONE DIDN'T WORK! Good thing no one had a medical emergency or got shot. - Side note: my buddy smelled what appeared to be meth in the hallway after the dude finished his run I was supposed to stay there 4 nights but I could only tolerate 2.
