Later, he…read moredecided to cover its exterior with chunks of petrified wood, perhaps inspired by a similar gas station in Colorado, or by Petrified Wood Park in South Dakota. E.F. covered the walls of his next-door cafe and tourist cabins as well (One of the motor court cabins was supposedly rented by Bonnie and Clyde a couple of weeks before they died). The cafe closed in 1964, the cabins around 1970, the gas station in 1988. They all passed into the hands of Nancy Rosendahl, one of E.F.'s grandchildren. She and her husband Jim, a retired nuclear engineer, told us that "we didn't have the heart to tear it down," and spent the next decade restoring the entire complex to its post-WWII glory days, which they said peaked around 1953. The old gas pumps are still out front but the interior has been remodeled as a personal office. There is parking and the place definitely photographs well. It's interesting and worth a stop to see. So, as we were heading out of town, we made a stop at Allsup's to try their famous Beef and Bean Burrito. Allsup's is a regional convenience store chain, primarily in New Mexico, West Texas, and Oklahoma, that's been serving up these burritos for over 50 years. With over 400 locations, they sell more than 27 million of these burritos every year. Although they're called burritos, they're more like chimichangas since they're deep fried to crispy perfection. Each Allsup's Beef and Bean Burrito is handmade with slow-cooked beans, beef, cheese, and a special blend of spices, all wrapped up and deep fried. The story behind these burritos is pretty cool too--they started in the 70s when a sales associate decided to deep fry the burritos to boost sales, and the rest is history! So, how did it taste? Honestly, it was the best gas station burrito or chimichanga I've ever had. It's hands-down better than any frozen, fast food, or fast casual version I've tried. The burrito was delicious, crave-worthy, and smothered in Allsup's taco sauce, which was the perfect pairing.

I'm not too freaked out by crickets, but I felt that the rest of the establishment was probably pretty filthy. Possibly other insects crawling/eating food items around the store. Yikes! Just think about that for a minute the next time you grab a drink or food item. The bathroom was a typical bathroom at a gas station. It was definitely no Buc-ee's. I would have gone elsewhere, but I really needed to use the bathroom.

The next dealership must have thought, "hold my beer and watch this, lol." That dealership offered me a lease price of $1905/ month and bragged because he got the price down $200, so I was going to pay $1700, they told me I was $5,000 upside down. Feeling reluctant, I located the 2026 GMC Denali PU with the exact options that I was seeking. Derek was extremely professional. I told Derek exactly what I was looking for. Within an hour, Derek provided me with a ballpark figure that was exactly the same as the result I came up with on the GM Financial website; I was $500 upside down. After a 1-hour drive to the dealership, it took approximately an hour to complete the paperwork, and a monthly note below $700/mo. Without a doubt they have earned my trust in an industry that is filled with uncertainty in my opinion. When completing the paperwork, I was able to relax, as in my experience the finance manager didn't try to up-sell me on things I didn't want or need. During the buying process, the salesperson was courteous, but there was very little willingness to negotiate on the price, which was disappointing considering the vehicle's prior use. Almost immediately after taking the car home, I noticed condensation in both of the tail lights. The dealership did replace the tail lights, but unfortunately, that repair created even more damage. The technician damaged the vehicle during the replacement, requiring me to bring the car back for bodywork. When I picked the car up after the repairs, it had a strong odor inside that wasn't there before. It also hadn't been properly detailed. there were still markings left on the vehicle from the repair process. Wouldn't you think after all the inconveniences, they would at the very least DETAIL THE CAR? To make matters worse, the trunk was no longer aligned correctly and now makes a noticeable noise every time it is opened or closed. While I appreciate that the dealership attempted to address some of the issues, it was frustrating to have one repair lead to problem after problem. Buying a vehicle should be an exciting experience, not one that requires multiple return visits to fix new issues caused during previous repairs! Because of my experience, I will not purchase another vehicle from this dealership, nor would I recommend it to friends or family. I encourage anyone considering buying here to inspect their vehicle thoroughly before taking delivery and to carefully check the quality of any repairs before leaving. I hope sharing my experience helps others make a well-informed decision.

I realize that, in the towing business, things happen that prevent tow trucks from getting to you when they expected - that's life, but to get absolutely no communication from them for going on 5.5 hours is just bad business.

Instead of answering me, she looked at the owners. The owners looked at me and then said that I cannot use it. There I am, a paying customer wanting to EAT in this establishment and was not given the opportunity to use the restroom (including washing my hands during Covid-19). Not only does the refusal of the restroom bother me but also the owner's manner of denying me use. They did not immediately tell the woman I could not use the restroom. instead they (man and woman possibly a couple) moved over to where they could see me. The man read my hat that says, Disabled Veteran and proud of it. He also look ed me up and down then told the woman I could not use the restroom. Would not even tell me himself and I was right there. I feel that other than it being unsanitary and rude to run a restaurant and not allow paying customers to use the restroom, I also feel that I was denied not because they deny everyone but because they had to look me over to decide if I could use it. I am a Caucasian 63 year old man and the owners are as Asian. I don't know if I was denied because I am white or if I am a Veteran but since the lady running the register had to ask, I assume that some people are allowed restroom use if they pass the visual inspection buy the owners. I feel that I was treated rudely and that my civil rights were violated. If they had to see me before answering, they based their answer on how I looked. In my opinion, these people base their customer service on the race of the customers. They will take your money while denying you the most basic of service. This is my opinion only and may not be correct but I think the average customer would feel the same way if treated the same way. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Zero stars would be my rating if it were available.
