After visiting two dealerships in Fort Worth this week, the first dealer told me I owed $9000 more on my 2-year-old car that has 17,000 miles, I shared my Kelly Blue Book estimate and he told me KBB don't write checks, he offered me a payment of $1183/month, of course I left. The next dealership must have thought, "hold my beer and watch this, lol." That dealership offered me a lease price of $1905/ month and bragged because he got the price down $200, so I was going to pay $1700, they told me I was $5,000 upside down. Feeling reluctant, I located the 2026 GMC Denali PU with the exact options that I was seeking. Derek was extremely professional. I told Derek exactly what I was looking for. Within an hour, Derek provided me with a ballpark figure that was exactly the same as the result I came up with on the GM Financial website; I was $500 upside down. After a 1-hour drive to the dealership, it took approximately an hour to complete the paperwork, and a monthly note below $700/mo. Without a doubt they have earned my trust in an industry that is filled with uncertainty in my opinion. I wanted to share my experience so others know what to look out for before purchasing a vehicle from this dealership. I purchased a vehicle that had previously been used as a courtesy vehicle. During the buying process, the salesperson was courteous, but there was very little willingness to negotiate on the price, which was disappointing considering the vehicle's prior use. Almost immediately after taking the car home, I noticed condensation in both of the tail lights. The dealership did replace the tail lights, but unfortunately, that repair created even more damage. The technician damaged the vehicle during the replacement, requiring me to bring the car back for bodywork. When I picked the car up after the repairs, it had a strong odor inside that wasn't there before. It also hadn't been properly detailed. there were still markings left on the vehicle from the repair process. Wouldn't you think after all the inconveniences, they would at the very least DETAIL THE CAR? To make matters worse, the trunk was no longer aligned correctly and now makes a noticeable noise every time it is opened or closed. While I appreciate that the dealership attempted to address some of the issues, it was frustrating to have one repair lead to problem after problem. Buying a vehicle should be an exciting experience, not one that requires multiple return visits to fix new issues caused during previous repairs! Because of my experience, I will not purchase another vehicle from this dealership, nor would I recommend it to friends or family. I encourage anyone considering buying here to inspect their vehicle thoroughly before taking delivery and to carefully check the quality of any repairs before leaving. I had previously been so pleased with service here. But this last month has been brutal. The lack of care to clients would make James Wood roll over in his grave. The service department had my car for over 3 weeks and failed to reach out to give me information or updates unless I made a call to them. Additionally, no loaners were offered, as they have none. I spoke to the manager and top person, and sadly, nothing changed. I am so disappointed in James Wood Decatur! No apologies given when I finally picked up my vehicle. No clean car delivered! James Wood always cleaned the car, at least a wash, but not here. Just sad to see customer service leave our Wise County GNC/Chevrolet establishment. On a side note, I was not ugly when I called, never used profanity, but I did say how disappointed I was. His response was if it is showing on line it is available, get to the dealership and ride around on the golf cart find the truck and it was sold two weeks earlier. Then he said they would make it right, looking for another truck, finally found one in Denton but they would not honer the deal online. Do NOT buy a car from here or take your car here for service. I have been taking my 2021 Yukon Denali in since February for the same issues, yet they give me some crap thing they fixed and its right back in the shop. (I have video after video to prove what my car was doing and continued to do with each "thing" they fixed.) I am now 280 miles over my factory warranty (I do have an extended warranty) and I'm at day 32 of them having my car without even getting approval from GM or my extended warranty to fix it, Due to the dealership not sending in the needed information to start the claim. Shawn in service just flat out blamed the service manager for having the pending docs on his desk since last week "because he didnt know how to proceed and management wouldnt help" (calls recorded if anyone needs to hear it) NINE months of them trying to fix my $90,000 car. The rental they gave me isn't big enough to accommodate my family. So not only have I not had my own car for 32 days, I am in a car that my whole family cant fit in. With Thanksgiving next week we had plans to drive to our grandparents out of state and cant do that without a car that fits all of us! To add- we called the sales team several times trying to buy a Chev Colorado Trail Boss during this time and the sales guy kept ghosting us. We went to Moritz and purchased a 2024 Chev Colorado Trail Boss in one day and it was such a breeze! Updating my previous review from 1 star to 4. The general manager reached out to me and really tried to help make the previous negative situation better. I ended up with a newer vehicle. It is very nice to have a general manager who will take customers seriously and also try to manage the relationship side. Some of the management here needs to pay attention and take note of this (reason for the 4 stars and not 5). Both sales reps (Todd and Landon) were very good and helpful. On Friday, 6.16.23 I called James Wood Chevrolet Buick GMC to schedule an appointment to look at a few vehicles. We had an idea of what were were looking for, but wanted to physically see the vehicles prior to making a decision. I spoke to Clay Estes, he looked up to verify if the vehicles we were interested in were available, then we scheduled to meet the next morning. Saturday morning we arrived and Clay was there to greet us. He had my list ready and pulled the vehicles out for us to test drive. After driving two we talked to him about what we liked and did not like about each vehicle. He then let us know there was another vehicle he saw in the back lot that had just come in a few days prior and he thought it sounded like what we were looking for. He took us on the golf cart to see it and he was right. It was exactly what we were looking for. We began the paperwork and shortly after we drove home in our new vehicle. We have purchased many vehicles over the years, but I can honestly say that working with Clay was the best experience we have ever had. If we had worked with another salesperson who was not as "boots on the ground" as Clay we would not have found the vehicle we wanted. I browsed their web site because I'd found that they have vehicles in stock that I'm considering (GMC 2500 Denali, long bed). I had a question and attempted to use their chat feature to get what should have been an easy answer: I wanted to understand exactly what a feature listed under "Available Specials" meant, if it was already on the truck or would it need to be added and if so, at what cost? The person on who answered the chat, Jasmine, kept pushing me for additional information such as email address, phone number, did I have a trade, could she set me up for an appointment, etc. She kept pushing despite me declining multiple times. The experience reminded me of everything I detest about buying a vehicle and also the reason I've stuck with my preferred dealer, Sewell, for a long time. If my internet experience was like that I can only imagine what dealing with them in person might be like. I think I'll instead order a truck from Sewell and just wait for it to come in instead of having to go through more of that. read more

He completely low balled my trade in and then told me to go fix it and he would get me the price I wanted.. it's a Range Rover nothing was wrong with it but wheels were scratched and something else small.. anyway when I told him another dealership was offering more, and a better Tahoe with the navigation package and TV for the same price as the one plain one that he had in the lot.. so he told me to either go fix my car and bring it back or go buy that one.. sooooo I did and they are even delivering it to my house.. I have taken my Hyundai Santa Fe in for service at James Wood multiple times, but this week really blew me away. I talked to a dealership in Dallas where I live to get a quote for a catalytic converter replacement. The dealership refused to give me a transparent quote and said "Just bring it in." However, I have prior experience with this dealership to know that once I "bring it in," they will charge a diagnostic fee and then will quote an astronomical price to do the repair along with dozens of other repairs that end up being more than the Kelley Blue Book on the car. However, when I called James Wood to get a transparent quote, the Hyundai service technician let me know that he recommends that I save money by going to an exhaust shop instead and even recommended a shop. He said that the dealership will be required to buy the very expensive factory part, while a third-party shop can save you money by using an OE spec part. A less honest person would have just said, "sure, we will do it" and not looked to my best interest. My family and I have always trusted James Wood and will continue to do so. read more

Just called James Woods about my Hummer EV Suv reservation and asked if they were still selling at MSRP like they were advertising when reservations first opened up. Long story short JUSTIN DUBOSE who my reservation was assigned to gave me the run around at first but then admitted it will be over MSRP.. My family has done business with them for many years and I thought they still had the same integrity but they don't.. Please be aware if you have a Hummer reservation it will be a mark up.. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation. Done quickly. I also brought the vehicle in for a warranty concern for an A/C dash vent doesn't operate properly. The advisor came out to the car looked at it and agreed that it needed to be replaced. I picked up my vehicle and nothing on the RO to even acknowledge that I brought up the concern. Now I have to take time out of my day and return for this repair to be done. One more trip to diagnose and another return visit to have the part installed!!! Overt upset. BEWARE!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP!!! I bought a used 2010 GMC Terrain with about 75k miles from this dealership 5 months ago. The vehicle was sold to us as a RELIABLE car in excellent shape with NO KNOWN ISSUES. Since then I have had to replace: The camshaft sensor A solenoid A tire sensor for stability control A tire pressure sensor And all 4 tires (The tires that were on it when I bought it were supposedly in good shape but when I went to have them rotated the tire shop showed me that the rubber was separating from the webbing because the tires were so old) Recently the car started making a strange noise and the mechanic told me my timing chain was damaged due to running the motor out of oil. The motor had consumed 3 1/2 quarts of oil 3000 miles after my last oil change. To repair the damage it will be about $3000 and to fix the oil consumption issue the motor would either have to be refurbished or replaced. Believing that the dealership was not aware of this motor issue in this vehicle is hard to believe when there is a class action lawsuit filed against GMC for this specific issue. Expired warranty or not, the dealership selling this vehicle to us as RELIABLE with NO KNOWN ISSUES is false advertisement and straight up irresponsible. They probably laughed at us as we were driving this vehicle off the lot . The dealership, unfortunately, does not seem to be interested in admitting their mistake and making this right. VERDICT: DO NOT BUY FROM JAMES WOOD and DO NOT BUY A GMC TERRAIN. My 2008 Ford edge with 200,000 miles that I traded in had less issues. GO BUY A FORD. read more

My husband & I were on our way back from Colorado headed home & luck would have it the turbo in our '15 3/4 Silverado went out while pulling our 42' Fifth wheel. Thankfully James Wood was one exit down. The service dept Bryan Stanley went over & beyond dropping what he was doing to run the diagnostic on the truck. They gave us a brand new 1/2 loaner truck to get home & let us leave our huge fifth wheel in their parking lot! I like to use internet sources like Cars.com and Autotrader.com to help me find the exact car I want in the price that I'm willing to pay. Car-buying is not new to me. However, I should have come here first. After weeks of dealing with inflexible and, often, downright sketchy car sales persons, I connected with James Wood Motors through a long-time friend. Let me tell you, I was treated with nothing less than CARE (Yeah, "care.") and respect from every single person I encountered. I live in Lubbock and navigated this deal with the help of Brandt Wicker and Cathy Spurgeon all via emails, texts, and phone calls. Both sent me pictures, videos, and deal sheets to ensure I was not only informed about the car that I was looking to purchase, but also comfortable with the "deal." Having already dealt with one car salesman at another dealership who tried sneaking in a $499 "add-on" of window etching (If you don't know what that is, Google "window etching scam") and the, "I must talk with my 'upper management'," play on me (Yep, you should read THAT Yelp review...not good.), I was in no way interested in any further sketchiness. So, in many ways, Brandt and Cathy had to "undo" my frustrations and regain my trust in the process of working with me on my deal with them. Feeling comfortable, I agreed to make the trek from Lubbock to Decatur and the experience just got better from there. Cathy walked me through every step of their process so I knew exactly what to expect. She fueled my vehicle, gave me a "no pressure" walk around/inspect. She helped me with my On-Star welcome call. She spent an HOUR educating me on the features of the vehicle!! In fact, she was so thorough, I had to cut our time short because I had to drive back to Lubbock. On my way home, she called me to make sure I got on my route correctly (I originally had some confusion on this. Hey, I said I buy cars, not read maps.) Then, she asked me to text her when I got home to make sure I had made it safely. Also, my license plates arrived exactly 3 weeks after I bought my car. Folks, people just don't do this anymore. To sum this up, I can be hard to please. I know it, my husband knows it, my kids know it and now Brandt and Cathy know it. I know what I want as well as what I will pay for it. James Wood was willing and, at least this time, able to accommodate my needs (I probably should have said "demands", but that is such a harsh word and no one needs that type of negativity in their lives.) They did not disappoint. Next time, I will skip the riffraff and go straight to James Wood. They get it. Referrals drive business and this is my referral to all of you. Bad attitudes from service writer to cashiers, this used to be my go to Dealership for service and new vehicle purchases, after purchasing nine vehicles in the last 15-20 years from JW of Decatur and 1 from JW of Denton. There will not be number 11 purchased or any other vehicle purchase or recommendation to friend and co-workers. Too much attitude at both Service Departments, and the prices they quote you on your trade-in and your new purchase is all a one way street, give you bottom dollar on trade-in, and do not want to come off stickers but just a few 100 dollars, come on. I wish I could rate you all higher. The only thing I appreciated was the complimentary work stations so that I could complete my job while there. Other than that it was a terrible experience. Time is money and I do not have time to wait 6 hours for breaks and an oilchange when I was told I would be long gone by noon. The service tech told me at 1030 all they had to do was put some pads on it, at 1250 he said 15 minutes at almost 2PM I was called to the cashier. I made an appointment on Friday advisor said sure we can get all that done by noon. When I got there I was ont on the schedule. I will more than likely find another place to do business. I drive almost 30 miles becuase I bought the care the there and have been loyal to James Wood dealers I think that these service waits have ruined that for me. read more
