I was lazy enough to buy a container of cut cantaloupe instead of looking for one and cutting it myself. I paid $10 for a container of rock hard, totally unripened, tasteless fruit. Either the people who make up these containers don't know how to tell if a cantaloupe is ripe or they don't check because they don't care. I'll never fall for that again. I like aspects of this store. There is a hot food bar with a usually great selection of dishes. But never choose the shrimp. It's totally over cooked, hard and rubbery. They have products not found in the larger supermarkets, but you will pay an arm and a leg. The prices throughout the store are very high. They charge what they do because they can. It's an upscale area and people have money to spend. I have gotten into the habit of sometimes stopping there on my way home from an appointment in White Plains and buying a few things. It's an expensive habit. But I would never consider it a place to purchase groceries on a regular basis. read more

This grocery store is fabulous. You can tell they take pains in offering the highest quality products. The beer aisle selection is phenomenal and there's a knowledgeable staff as well as a bar. The fresh made take away "buffet" is always delicious with many options which rotate. It's all freshly cooked and it is sold by weight. They have a fresh made salad counter as well with standard options or customized. I recommend signing on to their email list for weekly circulars and sales. The cheese section will blow your mind and the produce is always colorful and fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful. My last visit included sirloin steak specials which cooked up beautifully, tender and delicious. Parking lot is a bit small and can be challenging so just drive carefully. Dang. So THIS is where the pretty people shop. Okay. I see you DeCiccos! Anyway I ordered a party sushi platter from here for an event and they only ask to have 2 hours lead time. My initial sushi joint changed hours so I had to scramble to find something else. When searching the trusty Yelp app, DeCicco popped up and curiously, I ventured further into the Yelpsphere. The pictures alone had me feigning for sea meat so I quickly called and placed my order. Requested it be ready for 6pm and when I arrived a bit early, it was complete and eager to hop in my gullet. It may seem like its expensive ($129 for a large platter) but if you really price out individual rolls, it was a steal. Plus it was more than enough for the crew I bought it for and those fellow Yelpers thoroughly enjoyed it! Unless you're a Rockefeller, this isn't the place to buy generic items. Yes, items here are definitely more expensive than a normal store. However, this is my place to go for specialties. The meats, produce, cheeses, and fish are top notch quality. The sushi bar always has fresh sushi made daily. I think many of their pre-made dishes are good. I would avoid the food bar, if you insist, stay clear of the denser foods. The cost is calculated by weight. If you put too many ribs in the container, you might need to foreclosure your house. The beer selection is unparalleled. You can spend an hour perusing the abundant options they have. DeCicco's is heavy into the beer game, and have staff that are entirely focused on that. My verdict is this is a gourmet grocery store and shouldn't be compared to Acme or Stop&Shop. I don't do their book keeping, so it'd be unfair of me to say if they're price gouging or not. I come here for the specialty items, and buy my generic items at a normal grocery store. read more

In all my 64 years, this is the absolute Worst case of price gouging I have ever encountered, 2 small and obviously, old ,red and orange peppers came out to a grand total of $11.65. Bought half a dozen Cherrystone clams and half a dozen oysters! I opened them up and immediately found that they smelled really bad. They were not eatable with the terrible smell. They had to be old or left out in a high temperature cause those are the only 2 ways shellfish goes bad. The store should give us A full refund and have better quality shellfish or have someone who knows how to handle fish in general. All seafood must be keep at certain temperatures all the time and not left out, cause the change in temperature can turn good fish into bad fish, whether its fish or shellfish. Its a real shame that there shellfish was that bad because they do have other foods, in other depts that I've tried that are really good! The seafood dept definitely needs some help in either the quality of shellfish they are buying or how they are handling it? I've had yrs of experience with seafood. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch from the hot buffet. I picked Sweet Plantains, Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings, Ribs, Roasted Potatoes and the mixed vegetable along with a cup of Butternut Squash Soup. Just need to note this review is based mainly on the quality of food. The cashier that rang me up was over the top nice and if I was to rate based on her it would be 5 stars... now, I stayed to eat in the little dining area. The chicken wings though flavorful was totally dry. I had 3 little dried it wings. The rib was like eating a salt lick. The veggies were tender but lacked any flavor, as did the potatoes. Best 2 things were the sweet plantains and butternut squash soup. I suppose I could have asked for a manager and demanded my money back but at that rate I just wanted to eat quick and get out of he store. read more

This morning, I and 2 other customers could not find FRESH GARLIC IN THE HUGE BASKET OF GARLIC IN THE SOMERS STORE. Garlic all brown and dried out.. ALL BAD! Regardless of what the management posts in a denial, their huge inventory of some produce is not fresh... for example... lemons soft with dark spots, asparagus with yellow tips and soft stems, packaged honeydew melon hard and not ripe .., etc. just be careful and examine everything in the produce department.. read more

Unless your budget is unlimited, this is not the store for your everyday groceries, but it is good for fresh veggies, meats and fish. Stop n Shop is great for most stuff but when we need something special we drive a bit further to Decicco. In some cases where Turcos falls short, this is a reliable choice. read more

Maybe it's in the walls...Millwood A&P was also terrible but at least it took about 45 years for it to really suck. Not less than 2 years... I was super exited for DeCicco to open and at first was impressed. But as things go it has fallen and fallen fast. Deli dept is terrible and most people running it have no idea how to slice the overpriced choices. They should try to remember that we are paying for it. I don't want to be specific on who makes that dept most terrible but she appears to be a manager. Go back to wherever it is you came from and stay. Sushi is ok and reasonably priced. Butcher is great and seafood is always fresh. But it won't make me come back. Has anyone ever noticed the distinguishing smell as you first enter? I don't shop here for my everyday groceries. Whether true or not, I feel like their prices are on the high side. I do use them for their hot buffet and deli counter. The buffet is priced per pound, so pick judiciously because a piece of lasagna could end costing you $1,000. Seriously, the denser dishes quickly add up with "lunch" on a couple of visits cost me almost $20. As it gets later in the afternoon, the food gets old before the changeover to dinner. For instance: Tropicana OJ is 2/$5 everywhere else, but at DeCicco's is 2 for $6!. Lack of pricing labels. For instance, regular bananas are priced at $.49-.59/lbs. At DeCicco's there is no price tag; you find out they charge $.79/lbs at the cashier! Pricing for fruits and vegetables is posted electronically away from the produce. The price is applied to code numbers, not produce, so you have to match it with the little labels on the produce...only that most of the time they don't match! This place is too expensive, don't go here. I wanted to get some cakes and the staff were unprofessional in handling and giving me the cake. I assume they have no idea what they're doing. Even the cashiers too are unprofessional. One of them, a young girl was just being careless with my cake and giving me an attitude. I complained the persons in charge and they were simply brainless. Well for the past few weeks we have been going here to do some grocery shopping. About a week ago we decided to try their fresh Salsa. Well we had to throw it away after tasting it. They put so much salt in it that you don't even taste the tomatoes. Today we were heading back home from an appointment and we were feeling peckish. I decided to have the mash potatoes and roasted chicken. The chicken wasn't bad without the skin, tried the potatoes and guess what? That's right had to throw them away, there was so much salt that it killed the potato taste. Seriously, it was supposed to be fresh food and they are making it like they want to keep it around forever. My advice to them, stop using so much salt. We do love DeCicco's. With very few exceptions we've had consistently positive experiences. Generally it is very clean and well-stocked. The sushi, meats, and fish have been very good. As others have mentioned it is a bit pricey, so we stock up on things like paper towels, toilet paper, and canned/prepackaged items elsewhere, usually. That being said, there are times when we've found that DeCicco's has lower prices than the other grocery stores - that is usually when there is a special and not the norm. The hot bar can be hit or miss - we find that it is best when we have time to take the hot food over to their little bar and enjoy it before it has a chance to cool. It is pricey based on the "per ounce" system when there are heavier foods. But when it is just put out and you like the selection offered, it's really nice to have something quick that isn't typical fast food. Our experience has been that the majority of the employees are courteous and helpful. read more

One of my favorite supermarkets!!!! Always come here once (sometimes twice) a week to get a salad for lunch. I love the humungous selection of veggies, chickpeas and proteins, especially the crunchy falafel!!!! The quinoa, Mexican corn salad and other prepared salad foods are good too!! I even love getting food from the hot bar, everything is fresh and delicious. My favorites are the meatballs and vegetables. Also come here to get freshly prepared sushi and creamy delicious Halo Top and Enlightened ice cream. read more

I am so impressed with how the management and workers at this store have Conducted themselves during this difficult time. They are all kind and helpful and even have the wherewithal to handle grumpy customers who complain about their policy about letting people over 60 and those with immunity issues access the store before the general public. I have a DeCicco and sons in my area, Yorktown, but the quality of the food and the staff do not compare to the one in Millwood so I travel the extra 15 minutes for the better experience. Endless selection of amazing craft beers, from specialty bottles to a full selection of local favorites. This a beautiful store with great product BUT this Saturday I went in the morning to get meats to make a cold cut platter for Sunday & was really disappointed. I ask the very nice deli man to please cut the cold cuts thin because I was making a platter. He said no problem . He actually showed me one slice & it looked fine. This is an Italian & a specialty supermarket and pricey therefore, everyone in the deli dept should know how to slice cold cuts and the meats should be top quality. The Honey Maple Turkey was dry & cut with the grain and every slice was a half slice,same goes for the ham making both these meats tough. The prosciutto was sliced so thin for the first half that I couldn't get it off the paper, the soppressatta was cut perfect, the pepperoni was only offered pre-sliced in containers. When I opened it, the middle where you could not see in container, the pepperoni was brown.... Very disappointing I don't think I will use the deli dept in this store. read more

I have been shopping at this DeCicco's location in Millwood since it opened. I am an avid cook and baker. Their selection of produce, cheese dairy, meat and other items outstanding. More importantly, their team has a high level of product knowledge and all- without exception - provide excellent service. Many of the team have worked at this store from the opening. They know the regulars and are quick to suggest and offer help. I absolutely love and depend on their Meat Manager, Andres Gutierrez. He always has great suggestions, handles special orders and helps me with questions. I used to go to a speciality butcher shop for all of my meat - no longer. I really depend on Andres for everything. The Fish department is also fantastic. I cook a lot of clam dishes and the Fish Manager keeps a stock of frozen clams for me because I told him I make clam pizza at least once a week for family and friends. The manager of the Millwood store should be recognized for building and motivating such a fantastic team. It is like nothing I have ever experienced. I won't shop anywhere else. I visit the store often. As noted previously the prices are high. The produce is usually very fresh. The employees are helpful. As noted previously, the prepared food tends to be very salty. I purchased salsa which was inedible. I brought it back and the purchase price was refunded. The prepared foods look better than they taste. The deli tends to be sliced too thin. The butchers are helpful. One thing I learned recently when there was a sale on prime meat is that there are three grades of prime. The prime shell steaks on sale were alongside the prime porterhouse (shell plus fillet) which was regular price. The difference was obvious. When purchasing sale items, if the sale price isn't on the item you frequently will pay regular price. Watch the register. Overall, clean store, helpful staff, high prices. read more

I am fed up with this place. I have been going here for at least 3 years. It was above average in the beginning but in the last 6 months or so this place has turned into an embarrassment. The prices keep going up and the quality and cleanliness keeps going down. Plus it is so easy to see the " I don't give a crap" attitude from the employees. I spend at least 8,000 dollars a year in this place and I am not going there anymore. I am getting sick and tired of getting RANCID cold cuts, watching the girls smell the cold cuts before they put it on the slicer. Their cold cut refrigerator has cold cuts 4-5 items deep. They have NO IDEA how long the cold cuts are sitting in the back. There is no system. Its beyond disgusting watching the girls mixing the salads with their hands, scooping up what spilled over and putting it back in the dish etc. If the owner is in the store he or she must be blind or doesn't care. I don't like leaving reviews like this but I am so sick of these eateries/supermarkets like this. I don't want to hear the BS that they can't find people to work blah blah blah. This morning I took advantage of DeCicco's new "senior" shopping hours - and what a pleasure it was (although I usually don't consider food shopping a pleasure). Customers were greeted cordially by staff and given gloves and shopping carts that had been washed off after the previous customer's use. Social distancing was practiced so we had to wait a short time before entering the store, not a problem; and reminders of the practice were posted throughout. As always, everything was well stocked: produce was filled to capacity, as were the dairy aisles. (Only poultry items were limited and Hellman's Real Mayo.) Yes, toilet tissue and paper towel were in stock - yay - with the requisite limits. An employee directed customers to appropriate check-out lanes. I went to the one closest to the meat aisle - the female cashier was friendly, fast and efficient, and the male packer had my groceries packed and in the basket in a flash. Good-byes were said at the exit, with the employees continuing to work hard at gathering and cleaning the carts. These amenities are typical of a shopping experience at DeCicco's but are particularly appreciated during this difficult time. Thank you, DeCicco's! read more
