Thrilled with our new deck and spiral staircase! We knew we had to get a new deck as the one that came with the house didn't meet Douglas county codes. Decks unlimited was a company that my husband and I could both agree on! They filed the proper permits, came up with a great design, and once they began, they worked very hard. We were able to meet all the guys, and they kept us in the loop with their progress and when they'd be back for each step. The powder coating for the railings and the building of our spiral staircase took extra time, but when it was finished, we knew we made the right decision! The cost was in our budget. We paid half when the materials were delivered and half after the final inspection. The process was easy. They have a showroom where you can see all of the materials to help you make your decision. read more

This company was recommended to me on the Nextdoor app, so I left them a message. After speaking with Ian for a couple minutes, I personally don't think they took enough time to correctly name their business, because it should also reflect their customer service, so here is my recommendation- Maybe they should change their name to something like "Decks Limited", or even better-"Don't Waste Your Time, Unless You've Got Money To Burn", which to me sounds more appropriate. I'll give them the fact that they called back the day after my request for an estimate, which is professional, in and of itself and the only reason for the one star review; however, they asked me for a description of the job, over the phone and without coming out to take a look, then proceeded to say-and I am not joking here folks, "We don't want to sound stuck up, but we only deal with customers whose deck projects are estimated above $20-25k, because they have employees with 401ks to pay and can't meet their overhead unless they get in the $60k range. (Disclaimer) This was told to me by Ian, who may or may not have been authorized to speak for their company in this manner. Not my problem I say to you Sir. Don't advertise your business if you don't want the business. I cannot believe in this day and age a company has the audacity to attempt this business tactic. Little did Ian know I can afford that price, but refuse to pay it to satisfy a future owner of my current residence. Maybe I should just use that money to sue them for class discrimination instead? I wonder if the amount I receive in the lawsuit will cover the cost of my new deck? But of course, I would not hire them to do the work! Just as well though, it would probably turn out to be another waste of time, just like the phone call, so with that I will just say; I do not recommend this company, or their practices- I do not like green eggs and ham and I would not use this company by damn! I am a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Assault Infantry 89-93', a 21 year Law Enforcement Professional and have never encountered this type of business practice in my life. Buyer be ware!! This company claims to be a premier deck company but that is definitely NOT the case. The quality of workmanship is barely over rudimentary carpentry and took 4 call backs of punch list items to even get to a place that was close to acceptable. Would strongly caution anyone in the deck market against choosing this company! Decks Unlimited was our chosen contractor to remove our old deck and completely replace with a new composite based deck. They handled everthing from permit approvals, design, and coordination of the entrie planning and construction without any significant issues. The minor things that came up were handled immediately and the whole team was very hard working, friendly, and they seemed to really care about their craft. Everything was completed as timely as possible and the cost was fair and did not change from the original proposal. All good, no complaints. We are really enjoying our new deck. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this company!!! I can't give you enough positive remarks regarding Decks Unlimited. We live in Highlands Ranch and had a crummy, typical, track style, 2-story, 20 year old deck that was simply falling apart and needed to be ripped out and completely replaced. We had at least 8 different deck companies & handymen come out to give us quotes. Ian was the last guy we saw and I'm SO glad we called him for that one last quote. He was very competitively priced and we liked how easygoing and non-pressuring he was. He sat down with us and within about 5 minutes I already felt like I should offer him a beer. Super nice guy, knows his stuff, and doesn't sales talk you. Just tells you what you can do and what you can't do. Be sure to visit their show room to see the different decking materials. It really helps to see the colors and textures. Decks Unlimited was able to get us in their schedule within a few weeks of signing the contract. The materials showed up when promised, and on the first day of work, the guys showed up right on time to get started. Ian has his own crew, not subcontractors, and the pride in workmanship really shows. These guys were on time every day, worked hard, were polite, took their time and crafted us a deck that's not only rock-solid but beautiful as well. Every night they cleaned up their work area. I can't tell you how great it felt to use a company who actually takes pride in what they do and makes sure they do it right - not slaps up a deck to get it done just so they can move on to the next one. Decks are very expensive, and it really makes it worth it to know that you're getting what you're paying for. It's so rare in today's world. Once the deck was built, they even came back out and took care of a few small things we asked them to do which were above and beyond what they needed to do. They wanted us to be happy. I honestly can't recommend this company any higher. If you need to have a deck built, call Decks Unlimited with no hesitation. Decks Unlimited replaced our long-time (15+ years) seriously worn and rotted large front deck (all wood) earlier this winter (they work year round) which includes a good flight of stairs and being on the upper story also the critical foundation support, the caissons. We couldn't be more grateful and happy for the very fine job they did with building up our whole new deck including the newly solid stairs and railings. With our higher altitude than Denver (in the foothills), our southern exposure, extra dry climate and high winds we carefully sought a deck builder that was both experienced and reliable especially with the newer durable materials. It helped to also receive various references with their successful deck projects for consideration prior to contracting. I wish I could tell you more. Unfortunately, they flaked on us. Didn't want our business maybe? I really don't know why. Our initial consult appt. was missed, which resulted in us calling them after the no-show, not the other way around. Went ahead and let that slide as we understand things happen. But then, were told it would take over a week to get a simple proposal, which never came. Needless to say, we chose not to follow the three-strike rule and did not follow up further. No one even bothered to follow up with us. I'm giving two stars because the quality of the products they carry was high-end and they have a solid variety so you have some budgetary options. They have a nice showroom too so you can get an idea of what you're picking outside of those tiny square samples. read more

Decks Unlimited came out and took measurements for our deck project. After 2 weeks went by without an estimate, I emailed to ask when we could expect it. No response. After 5 weeks without contact I let them know their lack of professionalism just lost them a customer. This was a big, expensive project and they couldn't care less. My husband and I wanted to replace our deck. The owner Ian came out and gave an estimate. He did not pressure us in any way, just provided an estimate. Nearly a year later we finally decided we really needed to get this done. We had Ian back out for a new estimate. I had saved the paperwork because I was impressed with his knowledge and his can-do attitude - not to mention his low pressure sales demeanor. I got two other estimates, both of which were within the same range. He is competively priced. Another huge plus is his showroom. You can see all the material choices being used on the floor or in a railing, which is much better than just a small sample piece. I mentioned how I really wanted to cover an additional area besides the present deck area. He told me we could elevate a smaller deck area up over a walkout basement door giving me exactly what I wanted. He drew up sketches to show how it would look. It required doing some extra things to make it happen but he knew what had to be done. He walked me through each step, provided me with sources for concrete work and electrical work. These contacts did a fabulous job. He personally came out during the construction to relay all pertinent information to his crew. His crew did a wonderful job. They were hard working, courteous young men. A huge bonus working with this company is Ian. I could contact him any time. If he didn't answer the phone right away, he called me back quickly, usually within the hour and definitely that same day. That is amazing service. He is friendly, conscientious, easy going and will tolerate anything you throw at him. I would use Decks Unlimited again in a heartbeat and my husband and I recommend them to anyone. I was home when the inspector came by for his final signoff. He told me our deck was built like a rock. What a wonderful thing to hear about your new deck. Totally satisfied customers.
