Decktec recently replaced our deck with a long lasting composite material. There were some pre-existing structural issues and well as some additional detail work that complicated things a little. I would give Decktec 5 stars but there service / maintenance dept is a joke . love my deck and love that the guys who built it did a great job , but having the maintenance dept (Adam) come out and repair , maintain and stain my deck was horrible. each time they restrained my deck , it was a clear coat stain put on my deck that looked like they never stained it. I now stain and maintain my deck myself because the maintenance dept charges you an arm and a leg to do a crappy job. some of my foot boards are split and Adam and the maintenance. dept never return my call , to fix this . Overall I'm very impressed with the deck and the guys that built it but the maintenance dept (Adam ) get 0 stars for there horrible work and communication. read more

After we spent more than 100 hours sanding our 1500 Sq Ft decks, we contracted with DeckTec to brighten and stain. The team was professional in their behavior but left us a mess on our decks! Swirls of stain, glops of stain, areas they missed, even a shoe print from the guy running back up right after they finished. Although they agreed we should not have to pay for their work, we are left with decks that require sanother 100 hours of sanding in order to get them back to a state we could have them re-stained. . read more

If you want to be disrespected and yelled at, this is the company for you. The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. This company wasted almost a month, telling me they would be giving me an estimate every Friday. When the company called me this morning, the gentlemen started by saying that this job is not what they do, and that we did not go in the method he is accustomed with and that he did not have time for our project. What an absolute disrespectful person. He eventually began to raise his voice stating that he does not do business like this and we are a custom company that does not have time for jobs like this. I told him if he continues to raise his voice, I will hang up the phone. He continued and I simply hung up the phone. read more

Please do not use this company. DeckTec installed our Deck three years ago our problems started within the first few months. poor wood was used and as a result our Deck kept cupping. After several attempts to sand a replace the boards over a three year period they finally agreed to replace the deck. However, when they took the poor water soaked wood off the deck they informed us that the entire frame would need to be replaced - an additional cost to us of $14,000. My wife was told by one of their employees, who had been working on our Deck that the frame was in fact useable and just needed a few repairs. However, Steve Sparhawk told us the entire thing needed to be replaced. After consulting with 2 Architects and an Engineer it was determined the frame needed some minor repairs. We have since made those repairs and found someone else to install the Deck. This is a high level overview and not nearly inclusive of all the disfunction we experienced with this company. Do yourself a favor and move on if considering them, not worth the headaches. read more

They did an amazing job on my rather large cedar replacement deck. Very friendly through the whole process. Deck looks wonderful and is very solidly built! What more could you ask for? (Had to kill a few plants, but they aren't landscapers). Had to work through my HOA, so communication between the 3 parties wasn't the best, but that is not their fault. They answered all my questions and were very conscientious. 5 stars and two thumbs up! read more

I told you we would be open to spending more money and it seemed like you did not care. Were you tired from the convention? I felt a real lack of connection and caring for you. Like you assumed based on our house, that we did not have the budget that would meet your requirements and nothing to do with ours. I find this very off-putting and as a business owner myself, I would consider this good feedback as I asked for a proposal and you do not know how much the project will even cost without running the numbers. We often turn down work but only after bidding it, hearing the client fully and then making recommendations for the best outcome, before we release the client from our sales process. Your decks are beautiful but your attitude on the day we met was tired and uncaring. Snobish really. We had a right to be heard and given a bid before you turned us down. Food for thought. We are great clients and have money too. Sorry you felt you had wasted your time. BE CAREFUL HERE. If you do not have a huge amount of money to spend, they do not give you the time of day. We have used DeckTec regularly for perhaps 10 years now. We were disappointed with their work this spring and spoke to Adam the manager about it. He was very dismissive, insisted the job was fine, looked at pictures we sent and then demanded full payment while offering a 10% discount next year should we have the work done during the winter. His main point seemed to be that we did not have a major redo with full sanding and stripping of the deck, so what could we expect for only $405? I expected more than we got, as well as more courteous conversations after 10 years of patronage. We will be on the lookout to see if there is not a better company to work on our deck in the future. 5 star rating no longer. read more

They're kinda snobbish if your not a high end customer willing to spend above $20k they won't take you seriously and look down on you as wasting their time. My budget was $10k and they made me feel like second class citizen read more

This company is absolutely terrific. My redwood deck was looking horrible. The stain was uneven and all different colors. Adam and Brian evaluated the deck and said it was poorly serviced. They recommended that it be sanded down and then apply the proper stain. WOW! They came on time. They worked like crazy. They both took off my heavy deck furniture but replaced it after the job was done. I keep looking at my beuatiful deck. They're not cheap but they get the job done right.I wish every supplier worked as well as DeckTec. read more

This is a great company. If you are looking at creating and outdoor living space, as opposed to something to place some lawn chairs on, this is your company. Over the course of 8 years, I have done 2 projects with DeckTec. on the back of my home, they have built a complete wraparound deck with roof cover in two separate phases. They just finished our second project yesterday. Their work is of extremely high quality - our construction crew of Joe, Dylan, Josh, and Jeremy were true artisans. Beautiful attention to detail. On top of the workmanship, they were 100% professionals and complete gentlemen. The owner Steve is great with design, while Keith, their project manager proactively communicated while bringing the project in on time and on budget. You can find lower priced firms out there. However, I challenge you to find a better combination of design, quality, durability, craftsmanship, and project management. Look no further: DeckTec is the real deal. Decktec is a family business that designed built our deck 17 years ago, and have refinished it several times including just recently. When they found that some of the wood needed replacement about 8 years ago when they were doing a refinish, they did it under an unwritten "gentleman's" extended warranty. We had to replace some joists this year - they could have said (as my wife did) "tear it down and rebuild" for $20K but instead we paid about $3K for the repair and our deck is good for another 15-20 years. We have always been happy with their service - they do quality work, with courteous staff. What you get is what you pay - they are not the cheapest but they stand by their work. read more

I contacted DecTec for an estimate to repair or replace my weathered wood deck. I was set for an appt. 1 1/2 weeks out at 5:00 on a Friday. I was called by a DecTec estimator in mid-morning. He was outside my house and wanted to know if I could come home to meet him. I was at work so I told him that although I could get home within one hour, I could not go home immediately. He wanted to know if he could estimate/analyze my deck then call me once he was in the process. Instead, I had to call him, Brian. He started asking me about what he perceived as inadequate prior work and cross-examined me in a rude manner. When I asked him to just please tell me what he believed needed to be done and he said, "well, it's going to be like buying a new car." Then he went on a rant about how poorly the deck was done in prior repairs and never did answer my question. He was a world-class jerk to me and did not want to have to be at my home on a Friday night. I understand that but DecTec made the appt. for that time. I finally just told him that if DecTec was anything like him then I would not be interested in doing business with them. For all consumers, caveat emptor! read more

DeckTec replaced our deck and added a roof and arbor about 8 years ago. We were extremely happy with every aspect of the project from planning through completion. Our covered deck is beautiful, and is an extension of our living space for a good part of the year. They are great about calling every Spring to schedule annual maintenance to keep the deck in perfect shape. Their employees are hard-working and respectful of our time and property, always cleaning up at the end of the day and letting us know the project status. We would not hesitate to recommend Deck Tec - they are GREAT! read more

We had DeckTec refinish our deck. They removed the old paint, sanded, and added new stain. They did a lot of the work after the sun was down which made it difficult to see and be very detail oriented. They didn't clean up any of the trash they created during the day - there were used sanding disks, wrappers, bottles, and masking tape left all over the yard after each day of work. The day the job was finished, they left a note in the mailbox instead of knocking on the door to talk to me. I called the office to let them know that 2 of our windows were covered in overspray from the staining and they said they'd have someone come out the following week to take care of that. It's been 2 weeks and we haven't received any additional calls or anyone showing up to clean up the mess. Overall the deck looks fine, their work was ok - just not a lot of attention to detail, but due to their customer service and lack of follow-through, we won't be using them the next time our deck needs attention. read more
