If you're looking for historic Los Angeles photos encompassing everything from Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Valley, Santa Monica, or any other nook and cranny within La La Land--this is your place. Lynne has an immense collection of photos that anyone can find appreciation in. We came to her looking specifically for old photographs of the Hollywood and West Hollywood area. After selecting two prints, we used Lynne's custom framing services and have to say they're a real treat and always a conversation starter when people come to our home. We also had a historic California state flag framed and the outcome was incredible. We had no idea how to go about framing a flag since it needs adhesive to be held in place. She took care of everything. Regarding pricing, we did the framing almost two years ago and I neither recall it being expensive nor cheap. In all honesty though, the framing came out so immaculate that we were happy to pay for the quality. After my orders were confirmed, the company deliberately canceled them on next day with a false note that "the orders were canceled at my request". After asking them to re-initiate the orders, the company dishonestly declared that it was cancelled due to the frame shortage. Further it appeared that those frames are stocked "overnight" and I can now re-purchase them but at a substantially higher price. Be aware of deceitful nature of this company's actions and save your time to look for numerous other companies that are honest and value their customers. read more

My friend Glenn and I are new in town and were walking Ventura Blvd when our attention was captured by this vivid black & white print of Hollywood. We noticed that the famous "Hollywood" sign in the print read as "Hollywood Land". We were curious and decided to go in the gallery and ask. Lynne, the owner was happy to help us. Lynne assumed the role of an educator which impressed me the most. She explained the history behind the sign and the passion that she exhibited in telling this story was very apparent. I wanted to share this review because Glenn & I were clear from the beginning that we were not paying patrons and Lynne was unaffected and didn't treat us any different. She was very engaged with us and appeared to enjoy talking with us. It seems that Decor Art's core business is selling reprints (if that is the right term) of classic black and white Hollywood/LA photos. There is a large collection on their website and an even bigger selection in the stacks of binders they have in the store. Many of the photos are shots I hadn't seen before, from movie premieres, to studio publicity shots to vintage architecture. They can generate many different sizes from their high quality negatives and have a reasonable price structure. There was a photo I liked a lot, but it was very horizontal/landscape aspect, and I needed something more square to fit the wall in my place. After some initial misunderstandings with the staff, I was able to place an order for a slightly cropped/resized version of the image and in a week I had the finished, framed image and it looked great. Very happy with the quality and their ability to 'go off the menu' and get me what I was looking for. read more

Can't say enough great things about the owner Lynne and her staff. She runs a tight ship and has an amazing eye. She's also great to work with and has a wonderful array of frames and options (make sure you check out the "back room" frame options-it's the champagne room! She turns pieces around super quickly and her prices are the most reasonable in Los Angeles. I've used Grey Goose, Allan Jeffries, Aaron Brothers (who hasn't used them) and Absolute Framemakers and Lynne blows them all out of the water. Called to inquire about shipping some fine art, as recommended by UPS (since their pricing is a bit high) and before I could complete a sentence the owner, who was EXTREMELY rude, snapped "why are you calling me then? Do I even know you?!" Would recommend this place if you like verbal abuse. UPS it is. Note: Sometimes art galleries offer shipping services to freelance artists at a discounted rate. I had to delete my previous review, by personal choice. After all, there is a question of "art" here, and they do have items, photos, that are quite good, and I have been happy with them. Which is why I took in a restoration, that became a theft. I do not know if it is the restorer or the shop owner, or if there is collusion, or if something else happened. Regardless, the print returned to me was not the print I took in. In fact, was the kind of inferior print numerous people fail to bid on during online auctions. I have the digital photos of the item I purchased and the reputable dealer I purchased it from confirmed there is no way they are the same. I suspect he was momentarily concerned I was creating a scheme against him. (There's that kind of fear in the restoration community. That's why a good one is worth every penny.) Initially, I took in the print to see if they thought it worthwhile or a good idea to remove the print off the board backing to which it was adhered. How many times had I seen the suggestion to restore by removal from backings such as this, but didn't know if it applied to woodblock prints. They always say take it to a reputable restorer, so I took it to a place where I had done some recent business, and to keep an eye on other things I was interested in purchasing. I fully intended to be a good customer. Regardless of the removal, I wanted to see about having the piece cleaned and framed, because they do a good job framing. I was told absolutely a good idea to remove the print from its backing. With admiration, or so it was made to seem by a good sales person, I was repeatedly told by the shop that her landlady loves Japanese woodblock prints. Now I wonder, dId my print pay rent? I signed a statement saying I would never complain about the restoration and have numerous times sought to vent my frustrations over the loss of what was a hard-to-bear expense of a new piece of art. I was compensated for exactly what I put into the piece. Nothing more. I do not and never will seek more. I would give anything to have my light and colorful print returned. But as that is not likely, this has to be my only and final satisfaction. But there is no satisfaction in the descruction of a business that has a totally legitimate side. The photos and some of the unique prints are fairly unique and quite good. Their framing is superior, and they have a good selection of items that would be dear to any tourist, movie buff, or person who loves this place where we live. So I must by default amend my earlier rating and give this some legitmacy. NOTE: I was told how they do quite elaborate restorations of one-of-a-kind works of art worth far more than the 1000-ish valued item I took in. Actually, now that print would be worth 1200-1400.00. It's a good one. But the point is, don't shy away from taking in the unique, large, elaborate, expensive, flashy items to be restored. But first, find out if they really do a good job. Because this was a bad fake I got back, probably purchased off the internet and not even touched by a restorer, except to amend the signature and obscure the stamp. I cannot criticize the restoration except thusly: The obvious effort to deceive by playing with elements of the print I took in that were unique to that print, that's the infuriating part. And yet, this shop owner would say I bought a piece of crap art and that I obviosly don't know what I'm talking about. Not only would she say it, after being confronted, she did so, repeatedly, lustily, I might add. But an image is the same or it is not. Either it is exactly the item I dropped off and all marks and all handwork done after the woodblocking match precisely, or they do not. And they do not. And they never will. The color, the overall hue is different. This is obvious to anyone who expresses an interest in comparing the print received and the digital photos of the items I took in. Do not take in original items with mass produced copies. DANGER! I admit, I was and am a novice, but I have taken the time to study and learn what I'm getting. I was nervous at first, making the accusation, but the differences, no matter how closely similar, cannot be reconciled, so I had to resolve to take the item back. The way I was treated from that point on was what one would expect of a desperate cornered animal. On that final note, I will not give the 3 stars I think the art itself deserves, which is really pretty high, and wish there were a 2.5 stars. So if you cared and read through, just think of it like going to the jungle on a reality show. You know you'll get out alive, but will you be the winner or the loser? **After all this time, I am still upset about this. Art is important. But not to this thief of a woman. She stole my print so this is truly a 1 star review. Final. read more

My boyfriend and I walked in as we some some great art in the window. We were looking for some pieces for our new place and ready to spend some money. There was a man hiding behind his computer and a young girl sitting on a barstool. We were there for about 1 to 2 minutes max commenting on pieces to one another that we wanted to BUY and neither one of the employees acknowledged that we were in the store or even bothered to get up or look up. It was a Wednesday night at 6 p.m. You guys can't be too busy to help a potential customer. Small businesses wonder why they don't succeed...it's called customer service which this place obviously didn't display. read more
