Bought a bedding set for a sale price. When I contacted them to check the eta as I hadn't heard anything they told me the price I bought it at was not correct and I needed to pay an additional £75. They also told me that they were "just about to contact me about it" which I find hard to believe. They then proceeded to ask to cancel my order. Really upset and quite bad abrupt customer service. I would not recommend buying from this company as they do not know how to treat there customers appropriately. They offered me "additional items" and booja chocolates to be sent with my order if I didn't want to cancel... the boOna chocolates were already included in the original order and who knows what these "additional items" were. I presume they would not be worth the stress and the money being taken/held from my account for a number of days without any contact. Also the items were advertised as on sale, it's January so I assumed it was a January sale. I told them they were on sale but they said they had no record of this... even though my order went through and I had an email confirmation , money left my account and I had the shop app with tracking set to take place. Super strange. I would avoid this company at all costs as I can only imagine what it's like trying to return something or quibble anything with them that you might not be happy with, they will not budge and will not help. read more

I have used Decorist, Laurel and Wolf, and Decorilla for interior design of our new house. I would have to say that Decorist has been my favorite. I did a Classic Design with Amanda Foster and I feel like she really got my vision. I was a little concerned that you only got to see designs from one designer, but both of her initial vision boards I was very happy with. That did not exactly happen with the other two sites, my vision boards with them are almost completely different from the final design. Not the case with Amanda, she really understood what I wanted, and we really only had minor changes here and there. With the other design sites I felt like it was me constantly sending over links of things I liked to swap out for their picks. I also liked how the first two design mockups with Decorist are pretty accurate to what your room will actually look like. It's not just a bunch of furniture on a board that you have to 100% use your imagination for. When I began this process they did not offer 3-D rendering, which is why I had originally went with a different design company for my living room. I'm happy to say they do now offer it for an additional $99. For someone like my husband who has a hard time using his imagination this is big for us. I will certainly use Decorist again for my future interior design needs. I have to say out of the three they are my clear winner. I will also say Decorist is one of the most reasonable design sites price wise. They often have 30% sales around holidays which for me makes it a no brainer. A professionally designed room for around $200?! Yes please! Along with a 100% satisfaction guaranty you really can't go wrong. Word to the wise don't use an online interior design service until you are 100% positive you will be closing on your house. We just purchased our first home and it needed a lot of upgrades. We were already in the middle of renovating our kitchen, which I designed myself, when I found Decorist online. Oftentimes, it was agonizing for me to make design choices. I found myself undecided and/or second guessing my choices. So, I decided I needed help for the rest of the house. I have used them for my living, dining, office and, most recently, my bathroom. I was matched with Melissa Grieve the first time and when I asked Decorist for her again they matched her with me in the next ones. She was great! She took into account most of what I had mentioned I wanted in the design. She gave me two design options that both made it personal, as well as the beautiful contemporary style from a professional. She pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way. See the photos for yourself. The Decorist team has been awesome! The first time I used their services, I had just purchased a design for the living room. I then found a 2-for-1 sale a week later. I asked if they would consider giving me the sale and they did. Oh man Decorist is the best! I was matched with an amazing interior decorator named Casey Hardin. At first I saw her portfolio and it didn't seem to fit my style but in the end I am SO glad they matched me with her. She nailed my concept and then some. The experience is phenomenal. It's nice to see everyone else had great experiences. Get friendlier staff that aren't rude to you. You guys had a rug shipped to me three times that was damaged and did nothing to help me. The decorator was extremely rude as well. The entire process was useless and a waste of time and money. I would never recommend Decorist to anyone. You guys offer the same service as pinterest. Except at least with Pinterest if an Item arrives damaged, I can contact the vendor directly versus dealing with your awful custom service that isn't responsive. I never ended up with a completed design because you guys did not help and did not offer to find a replacement rug for me from a different vendor. You kept forcing me to try to order the same rug! What kind of useless service is this? And as for the decorator, she kept "using it against me" that I did not have "new furniture" package. But yet kept slightly recommending new furniture. Don't throw it in my face you are recommending a new end table if that isn't an accessory! It is news to me end tables a "furniture" versus an accessory to a room or after thought, but in either case, I don't need to hear that I did not spend enough money or have a big enough budget to support that. $5000 for a 400 square foot living room and all I ended up ordering was curtains, a new tv stand and a chair? That's all? I asked twice about painting the walls or wall color or wall papers? Got nothing! Wall art? Asked me to hang up pictures. I specifically said I wanted wall art. If I wanted pictures on my wall I can do that on my own. I wanted nice art sourced from somewhere. Again, the one thing I would do to improve Decorist is start with new staff. New staff in the help and purchasing center and new staff as decorators. All of them were awful. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Mikayla Keating gave us the perfect layout and flow along with a comfortable, beautiful living room that we truly LOVE!! This is the second room I've asked her to design. I sent her photos and measurements and within a few days, I had two detailed 3-D renderings of our living room. Design great - the selection of items mostly disappointing as well as dealing with the "Purchasing Team". I now know this is a Bed Bath and Beyond company. It seems great when you get your lovely design concept photo - but look closely at the lovely proportions everything are in... we had an indoor tree that in the design looks like it fulls 2/3rds of the wall - it's actually barely even half. Our concept had nice cushions which looked perfect on our love seat sofa, but when received are MASSIVE. Credit to Brianna Clay for the design - but the selection of the proportionate items was wayyyy off the mark. I think the only item that survived a return or wrong size was a chandlier (great choice). The couch is likely to get swapped for a larger one - same producer and style though, just in larger size. Keep in mind it's easy for a designer you barely paid a couple of hundred books for to just resize anything in the concept at the drag of a mouse - but when you find yourself sending box after box back it's a pain and your cost to return some of these items. Once the designer is done with you, you have to deal with the "Purchasing Team" which is a painful exercise in back and fourth and chasing - especially when they recommend things that are out of stock so quickly. The first time it took a LONG time to get a refund on a chair - Decorist had an excuse about being so busy over the holidays. They were not busy enough that they couldn't order from a different place and charge my card, but too busy to refund the other without chasing for days to even initiate it. The two stars is really for the design - the execution and items picked have been weeks of repacking items to return at UPS and Fedex and an exercise in getting refunds. No surprises now I know this is a Bed Bath and Beyond company. Shout out to the decorist "Design Operations at Decorist" who had a nice look at my linkedin profile after this review was posted. I was really optimistic about this experience but ended up feeling pretty disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone on a budget. I made modifications to the initial designs I was given and she came up with a pretty decent design with those comments. Unfortunately, the decorator never showed me the costs of the individual prices until the final design -- at that point when I pointed out that they seemed pretty exorbitant she put in some low quality / random items that were cheaper but really didn't attempt to work with me further. She said she'd be around for the remainder of the week but if I needed any further help I'd have to speak to the main Decorist team. It was pretty disappointing -- I was hoping to make a design with an expert and just buy the items and set it up. Instead, I've spent the past couple of weeks finding items on sale by myself (I've found that even with the items my decorator picked out, they have the exact same item on Wayfair or Amazon with matching SKU numbers for hundreds lower). I plan to try Modsy or Havenly for my master bedroom design -- this experience was honestly a waste of money/time. read more

Sam helped me with designing our family room. She was awesome to work with. She was super patient, really listened to our needs and came up with a fantastic design that fit our lifestyle and needs. I really like walking into my family room now. It flows so much better and she even considered and gave design ideas on how our kitchen and dining room could mesh with the space since they are all connected for no extra charge. I made the mistake of purchasing the items during the design process not realizing that you would be given a list at the end. I regretted it because not only is it a way of giving your designer props but because her designer discounted prices were better than what they offered online. Lesson learned! I paid for Decorist to design a small city living/dining room. Once the "final" design was submitted, I was told that only the living room portion of the room has been designed. The dining room portion requires an extra package purchase. That was pretty disappointing and should have been disclosed before the design was started so that I would have a chance to cancel. Also, Decorist does not provide a full 3D render of the room as other services do. I only got one awkward angle. I was very unhappy with the service, and even though their site says happiness is guaranteed, they do not issue refunds. I managed to get 30% back after emailing for a couple of days. read more

No updates whatsoever. I have to email the customer service every time to get updates. Cancelling orders has been a chore. I had to email them 3-4 times before they cancelled my order. I used Decorist 5 years ago on a playroom and had an okay experience. The design ended up being a jumping off point for the room. This time I wanted to very quickly makeover my daughter's room while she's at camp for a few weeks. For a quick and inexpensive makeover, I figured Decorist would be good enough. I was paired with Elizabeth Herrera, and she exceeded my expectations in every way. She nailed the look I was going for. She made a crazy bright patterned rug that I insisted on keeping work for the room. She made my small budget work. In addition to furniture and decor, she found storage pieces too. I highly recommend using the Decorist! I took a quick quiz, uploaded images of design inspiration I had and then did a quick upload of floor plans and current furniture pieces I wanted to keep. I was matched with Kate Seaton and she was phenomenal! I don't think more than a few hours ever went by without her responding to me - even if it was at 10pm on a weekend. She figured out my style quickly and provided a design that gave me exactly what I wanted. The only downside was with the purchasing team. While they have been great for the majority of the process, they do not work on weekends. This means that in order for me to take true of advantage of any promo codes (I was trying to buy everything over Labor Day weekend) I had to buy certain items direct and I would have much preferred to give Kate and the Decorist credit for those purchases. We paid for the celebrity service and after we chose our designer they told us they weren't available. So we chose another one and the process coordinator informed me the project would take 4-6 weeks start to finish with about 2 weeks before we get our initial rendering. After 3 weeks they told us the designer was very busy and needed another week. Another 10 days went by and we didn't get any messages. In the meantime they stated that they are no longer providing the furniture purchasing service. I'm not sure what our process coordinator was in charge of but she certainly was a terrible communicator, didn't keep us in the loop and didn't provide any solutions other than an apology for service not being great. I loved my experience with Decorist! I was a bit hesitant at first to spend money on a designer but furnishing an entire house with nothing to start was pretty overwhelming. When I saw the Labor Day 40% coupon, I decided to try it out. I got the Classic Design for my office/guest room. Decorist picked my designer, Caitlin McBride and she was amazing!! She clearly reviewed my project information and Pinterest boards in great detail. I had over 50+ pins and she took what essentially was a brain-dump of ideas and created a defined vision. She was easy to work with and she was always quick to respond. Caitlin basically created and finished my plan within 10 days (ahead of schedule!). I had a lot of fun working with her! Decorist is definitely worth it! I feel like I ended up saving money because Caitlin made sure everything stayed within my budget. If it was up to me, I'd probably want a million things, buy things based on sales, and end up getting completely mismatched things. This would have been so painful if I had to do it myself. I am buying most pieces on my own because Decorist's prices are usually what you see online. They don't use coupon codes for some reason (i.e. Overstock 15% all the time, West Elm's friend's and family coupon). I hope they figure out a way to includes these coupons in the future because it would be really awesome to select all and buy. I'll probably use them again! UPDATE: If you're debating between Decorist and Laurel & Wolf, PICK Decorist!!! Decorist set the bar high and I did not enjoy my experience with L&W. They were not fun, their design page/portal isn't user friendly, they don't offer 3D rendering for their version of Decorist's "classic", and I didn't like my assigned designer. read more

I decided to upgrade my living room so that I could host more social gatherings, but needed some professional help (not that kind!). I looked online and found a couple different websites dedicated to hiring interior designer at an affordable rate. I narrowed it down to the top three, but decided on Decorist because of the reviews and the designer portfolios. I filled out all the information about my project and in less than a week I was matched with Caitlin McBride. She was fantastic! She was super friendly, responded quickly, and asked great questions. She produced two great living room designs drafts to choose from. I picked the one I liked best and Caitlin helped me tweak a few pieces until we created a final plan I loved that was within budget. At the end of the process, there was one page where I could decide which pieces to buy (so I didn't have to go to 20 different websites). I held off on a few pieces (post holiday sales). The whole process took less than three weeks, and now I'm just watching the tracking updates and waiting for all my items to arrive. So exciting! The only part that I'm bummed about is the fact that I don't have more rooms to redecorate! read more

One word: Brilliant. I love Decorist and the service they provide. Who or what are they? They're an online interior decorating company based out of California. We just moved and our living room has an extremely awkward layout. I had no idea how to approach the space. Decorating block if you will. I looked around for decorators in Indy and ran into two problems: affordable "decorators" who had no idea what they're doing (Example: portfolio including pic of a flat screen tv with a huge, ornate gold picture frame around it. Nope); or talented professionals who were waaaay out of my price range and truthfully, too traditional. Where are the decorators who know what boho means? Who really understand how to make eclectic work. How to make a peacock chair work in a room without tapestry wall hangings, macreme owls and incense. Luckily, they have an http address and are accessible from anywhere for anyone. Very affordable. I think I paid $225 for two design concepts and then a final concept after receiving feedback from the first two. How does it work: you pick the room you want to work with, take photos, take measurements, etc, show them a houzz or Pinterest board with your design goals and that's pretty much it. Let them do their work. They will provide you with two different design concepts, and you give your rating and feedback. They will then take this and put together your final concept. Putting all that stuff together can be pretty time consuming. And it does take a few weeks from start to the final concept but to me, so worth it. They also put the pieces in a shopping cart for you so you can buy what they pick if you choose to do this. You get free shipping this way too. I did not take this route because I used the design concept as a guide but still picked different pieces and what not. You can read the bios and look at the portfolios of the decorators they have on the team and suggest one. One who matches your styling needs but no guarantee you'll get that person. I chose three and was assigned one I chose: Emily Johnson. Affordable , accessible and talented staff: awesome! I really love that they modernize the concept of interior decorating and make it attainable for all of us and not just that one house in the neighborhood that houses dr. so and so. I would definitely recommend them. I may update this review once I finish my room but you can at least see the concepts for now. read more
