Horrible service by a few "back room workers" who are rude, upsetting, unknowledgeable re: their jobs! There are also a couple of very good people at South Boston branch who are supervisors that sent me to people that are supposed to know why my outside account has been erased from my Dedham checking account. The name of my savings account bank has totally disappeared from the transaction / transfer listing I had. Who erased it? Why wasn't I informed? Why was this done without my authorization? Why was it erased? I look foward to your answers. Please start training your employees to know what they should do on an everyday level and under extraordinary circumstances like this. I went to Dedham Savings in DEDHAM, gave my name to the receptionist to keep order. that was good. I was told there was 1 person in front of me. no problem. When my turn came I noticed staff with their lunch bags and leaving the area. I went to the receptionist and asked when I would be seen and it looked like people were leaving. I had waited approximately 20mins. I was then told they were going to lunch! I said"while there are customers?" the receptionist went to ask the "manager" , came back to tell me yes, they were going to lunch even with a customer waiting. I was shocked. I left. 5 stars in WESTWOOD Just left Dedham Savings in WESTWOOD on High St. a total 180degree difference in comparison to the DEDHAM branch. Chiara was beyond helpful and got everything done. I returned to this bank as it was convenient and in my town but they consistently will NOT pay bills from the online app ontime and it ends up costing me money. If you tell them to pay (for example) a phone bill, they say on the site, sure we will deliver by 6/3. Then when you come back the next day it says 6/5. Now it says 6/10. They keep moving the date and NOT PAYING THE BILL. When I called them they said, oh we paid but verizon sent it back for no reason. Call verizon... we never got it. We never sent it back. We don't do that. This fucking bank is run by morons who have no idea what they are doing. read more

I was approved, prepaid my homeowners in advance at their request, policy listed them as mortgagee, then they decided, because I have a life estate, that they would not close unless the deed was just in my name even though my children were willing to sigh all closing documents. Plus, they did a refinance for me 3 years ago, with the life estate, with no problem. Their loan officers are the worse. 2024 update - A couple of years ago, they ditched the live operator that answers the telephone. A sign of times, I guess. It is still fairly easy to get to a human, though it appears to be a call center now rather than someone in the customer service area in one of the branches - so service is a little more impersonal. That being said, the people at the call center still appear able to help with the things you'd expect. Still live pretty far away, but the mobile app has been improved several times and easy accomplishes things like depositing checks. Online bill payment is half-way decent to navigate, and you can even set it up to automatically make regular payments like your mortgage bill. I recently sent a comment about the online banking and the manager of the department contacted me personally. I even spoke to her directly by phone. Try that with a mega-huge bank. read more

Head teller has a huge attitude problem. Old manager was friendly nice and kind. This one looks for problems so she cannot service you. First told me that the check I tried to cash was written in pencil even though it wasn't. Then she wouldn't cash a check for me that was Bank issued but 70 days old. Nowhere on the check that it say it couldn't be cashed. It was at the discretion of Dedham savings. Okay. I will be using my discretion and pull my money out of the bank. It's been real. read more

We have been extremely pleased with Dedham Savings. They were very easy to work with for the construction loan on our new home, and on the transition to a standard mortgage once our construction was complete. I have recommended them to a few of my friends and will continue to do so. Saw one comment about the paperwork to establish a relationship between your accounts in order to transfer. This is true, so be sure to establish that paperwork right away when you open your accounts and you will be all set from day one. read more

Dedham Savings is stuck in the 1990s. Their mobile app and online "Your Link" feature might as well not even exist because they have ZERO functionality. You have to physically go into a branch to do everything. Want to transfer funds? Go to a branch. Want to wire money? Go to a branch. Need to close an account? Go to a branch. In 2018. After having been a customer for many years, I sought a mortgage refinance at today's lower rates. The loan officer offered the minimum level of effort needed to frame the transaction. The document upload system didn't work, and we got offers of better rates and lower closing costs from 2 other lenders. I told the manager in charge of home loans and had a nice talk with her. Bottom line: we're a neighborhood bank and people in the neighborhood like us, so we're not really interested in competing for business. So, if you care about price and service, I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere for a mortgage. read more

Last week, we closed on a new home in Walpole and it is 100% due to the timeliness and attentiveness of Dedham Savings. We worked with Doug Natale after Bank of America decided they were wealthy enough and didn't want to commit on the loan they had promised us THE DAY OUR COMMITMENT WAS DUE. I called in to the Dedham Savings system form an airport in Indianapolis at 4:30 and was routed to Doug at the central office and told him my scenario. He met me the next morning upon my return first thing and already had my application pre-filled out for me and had notified his team of the urgency I required. Doug ran around his office and the South Shore collecting signatures and paperwork on my behalf WHILE IN CONSTANT communication with myself and the two real estate brokers so there was never any ambiguity in the message. We were able to successfully close on the property within 3 weeks of my first call to Doug. Due to the entire experience, my wife and I have severed all ties with BOA, moved all accounts to Dedham Savings and are blown away with 'the little things'. A followup call from a VP to see how our new accounts were working, a handwritten card from the Bank thanking us for our business and more. Going to Dedham Savings was the best part of the entire home buying experience. Only downside, Doug did not come help move stuff upon move in. I am still giving a 5 star review though. read more

I've had an account with Dedham Savings for several years now. The people who work at the branches are polite and extremely competent. The one aspect of this bank that I'm dissatisfied with is their online banking. I use their overdraft protection. You can't transfer funds from your checking account to pay off your overdraft protection online. It's hard to believe that in 2016, you need to either go into a branch, or call on the phone, to make such a transfer. I find this to be extremely inconvenient. When I opened my account several years ago they said that they were working on this anachronistic flaw, and from time to time, when I complain to the tellers (I know they have no power over this) they say that they expect it change someday. Dedham Savings is hands down the most inconvenient bank in the United States. Are you looking for a convenient bank where the tools to help you with your finances are modern and easy to use? Then look ANYWHERE else but here. Their "mobile" banking supplies your landline number as the only available mobile number option you you CANNOT access mobile services ever. Their help offices are always closed because they do not care about their customers. Their online banking is next to useless and offers no real benefit. You will receive better service if you just go ahead and stuff your money under your mattress than if you were to open an account here. Just terrible. read more

If you like fees, then this is your bank. It would have been nice if the fees were explained when I opened an IRA for myself and wife. The rate appeared to be good but when you deduct the yearly maintenance fee and then finally the $30 transfer fee the rate on my wife's account generated less than .02 percent return. I have been banking with this bank for over 20 years , I have my personal and business accts with this bank and also have paid off several car loans and a house, recently I checked my credit report and found that Dedham Savings bank reported me as a late payment for an existing house I have had with them for over 20 years, when I disputed this I got a letter with no other explanation other than they verified the late payment , this letter was from Jeanne Musto, customer representative, when I called her she asked if she had enclosed any other info with the letter and I explained no she hadn't, she then explained that I was being reported because instead of making a payment that was due on 9/30/13 , I made a payment on 10/1/13, there is NO customer service NO care for long time loyal customers and she is a monotone person on the other end of the line that exudes an "I hate my job" attitude. BEWARE OF THIS BANK they wouldn't know a good customer if it bit them! read more

worst. bank. ever. i have never experienced incompetence from any business such as what i encountered with dedham savings bank. their online banking services are an utter joke. you can't transfer money to an external bank account. when you try you get an error saying to call the bank. then when you call them they tell you you have to come in to a branch to do it. i had this functionality in the 1990's. i was stuck in san francisco and needed money from my account. i asked them to give me a one time increase on my cash advance limit. they attempted this, but it failed. then they attempted to raise my ATM limit so i could get the money that way. that also failed. the manager of electronic banking told me that she couldn't understand why it wasn't working, and that it must be the ATM, even though i was running all over san francisco trying every ATM in the city and none of them would give me the money. when i called back she told me it was 5:15 so she "really had to leave". on top of all this they completely changed the terms of my account from underneath me. i know lots of banks do this and it's in the terms of service, but dedham savings reduced the amount on which they would pay interest by 400% and reduced the interest rate by 200%. meanwhile cambridge savings bank is offering higher interest, less hoops to jump through to get the top rate, and state of the art online banking. stay away from dedham savings at all costs, they are abysmal. read more

I'd have rated them zero stars if it were possible. In terms of keeping your information secure I'd trust a check-cashing place on the seediest street corner with 6-inch bullet-proof glass at the counter more than Dedham Savings. I've had my account information stolen twice in the last 6 months and I could understand if I used my card to do anything but withdraw money from Dedham Savings ATMs. Furthermore with my current issue I found out that it had happened because I by chance checked my account on a slow morning at work to notice I was missing several hundred dollars. When I called their customer service line and told them my issue the first word out of the associates mouth were "We've gotten a number of calls like this today." Now I'm not a PR professional but I'm pretty sure that if I were running a bank and a bunch of clients were missing a lot of money all at once I'd probably start looking into the problem with a little more urgency and notify other customers of the potential problem, but two days later not a word. As the conversation went on I'm told that there were two failed attempts to withdraw amounts over my limit at the same ATM before the third went through, again maybe a red flag should have popped up here that three attempts were made to withdraw money from my account in a place I've never been. After the useless phone conversation I actually went to the Dedham Savings Main Brach and filled out the affadavit of fraud, where there was conveniently no one there to help me but the receptionist. Added to this after I had filled out the affadavit and given it to them they added a sevice charge to my account for using an ATM out of their network on the fraudulent withdrawal. Again I called cutomer service and again I can't get in touch with anyone who is able to help me with the issue. I'm closing all of my accounts at this bank and urging everyone I know who uses them to do the same. Being from Dedham and having dealt with this bank for a long time I would urge anyone thinking about opening an account here to go elsewhere. read more
