Deep Blue is wonderful place to find fresh fish and oysters, crab along with some other frozen fish options. The owners are great people and are very knowledgeable. Sure you can find & buy from a Hornbacher's or Cashwise but this is fresh as you can get in town. Selection may be limited, but you can always call to see what's in for the week. OH MY!! Seriously the best crab legs I've had in years! I found Deep Blue Seafood on Yelp while in Fargo on business. I ordered two crab leg clusters and was so glad I did! They steam their crab which means "cooked to perfection"! The meat was sweet, tender and easy to eat (no sticking to the shell). One of my favorite local places. I have not purchased fresh seafood from the market yet, I've only had cooked food from the food counter. The service was friendly and the food was tasty & high quality. I plan to continue to visit and eventually knock off menu items I have not tried yet. The food at Deep Blue Seafood is fantastic, the ambience is something they really worked hard to ahcieve... it has a fish market feel, but I'm updating my review because the service, while friendly, is unacceptably slow. On our last visit, a Saturday in the 1pm hour, we arrived to find 7 tables occupied and there was 1 server working all of them by herself and not keeping up. It took 5 minutes for her to come to the hostess stand and seat us, another 20 minutes before we got our appetizer, and we were there for 40 minutes before we got our food. All total, the whole visit took an hour. I still give 'em three stars because the food is excellent, but the speed of service needs work. read more

Easily the best meal I had during my week long trip throughout the great state of North Dakota. Found the spot on yelp on the way to the airport and stopped in with 3 others. The market section was remarkable! Everything looked extremely fresh and the selection was quite impressive. They also had a wonderful selection of seafood salads, herring and smoked fish offerings. It was very very tough to figure out what to order for lunch! I went with the fish and chips with a small side of herring in dill sauce. The fish was extremely large! The breeding was crispy and fish was tender and delicious. I also enjoyed the herring as it is something I don't see often where I live. I also tried the Buffalo shark bites. The sauce was the perfect amount of spice and the bites were cooked perfectly. The shark bites ended up being are groups favorite order. If you are in the area and looking for a great lunch, you MUST stop hear! read more

My wife and I stopped by Deep Blue Seafood for lunch. We were very pleasantly surprised at this establishment. Initially I thought his was a seafood distributor and didn't realize it was a restaurant until I ran across the reviews in my yelp feed. To begin the interior is amazing. It's small so plan ahead and you will be seated by a host but it's beautifully decorated and feels very comfortable. The staff was amazing. Polite and always on the spot. They are very helpful and just pleasant all the way round. The food. You couldn't ask for better quality seafood in a land locked state. They have amazing selections of seafood. They have daily specials as well and they have beer. My wife had the fish tacos. She received two. They looked amazing and he response was best she has ever had. I had the Friday special of fish n chips. It came with mashed peas but I choose to substitute coleslaw and the chips were spot on. The fish was a battered cod fillet. It was expertly cooked. Light batter and flaky. I also got hush puppies but wouldn't order them again. Pretty dense and over cooked to my liking. We also split the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp came out fresh and filleted with tail on, slice of lemon and cocktail sauce. They were amazing! We weren't sure how long it would take to get our food and his was our lunch break but within an hour we ordered, ate and paid. They have a dinner menu that we will try soon. The wife and I haven't had decent seafood since we were out on the East Coast last year; THANK GOD this place exists in Fargo! I guarantee that you won't find seafood as fresh, or as tasty, unless you head out to either coast; I daresay that this place is probably one of the Top 5 seafood restaurants in the entire Midwest (and that's no joke)! The very first thing that you notice when you walk into the place is the overwhelming smell of fish; trust me, that's a VERY good thing! The best places for seafood, that we ate at while in New England, smelled just like this place, so we took that as a good sign! The guy who was behind the counter was very friendly, and extremely informative about what was fresh that day. Sadly, their Clam Chowder wasn't quite ready yet, so I decided to try their Oyster Stew; best I've ever had! Creamy and flavorful; I'm craving a bowl of it right now! LOL We decided to give their Buffalo Shark Bites a try, and those were surprisingly good (give 'em a try!). My wife had the Shrimp Basket, and I went with their Reel Deal Fish & Chips. My wife and I drove to Fargo under the assumption that like most restaurants this place would be open until a reasonable time. When we pulled up at 6 and noticed the door said they close at 7 we thought we were good to go. Upon entering, we see a small chalkboard sign saying kitchen closes at 6 and by now it's 6:03. We asked an employee if this was truly the case and she confirmed our suspicions. This would have been as amazing place to try especially since my wife and I both love seafood and because we were trying to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately this place has lost our business and may never get a second chance. I enquired about the lobster philly, the server said it was 1 and 1/2 lobster tails but I requested to hold the cheese and onions Well when it came out I saw the cheese and reluctantly accepted it, one and 1/2 lobster tails, maybe 1/2 tail.i noticed the onions and brought it up to the counter. The server yelled at me (the party I was with heard her across the restaurant) "didn't I ask you if you wanted me to bring it back. Talk about rude. My advice visit this restaurant while it stays open. If they keep treating customers like this, who knows how long it will stay open. read more

Had lunch there during a weekday. Tuesday to be specific. Not a lunch crowd at all. It was 12:30 and there were like 3 other people in the restaurant. We order a calamari appetizer to start. You could tell it was frozen. The squid was not fresh and was rubbery. For the main entree I order the shrimp basket with steak fries. Shrimp were nice and big and the breading was light. Love that they will always have oysters! This is something we were lacking in Fargo! You don't learn to appreciate the value of a properly shucked oyster until you've experienced horrible knife skills and bits of shells and butchery from other establishments lol And trust me, these were SPOT ON. I also tried their fries and fish soup. The fish soup's fish stock is house made along with a tomato veggie mixture and nice chunks of white fish. It's seasoned perfectly. Probably the best fish soup I've ever had. You can add your own hot sauce if you prefer it hotter! So good. The fries were super hot and crispy, on par. Sampled my sister's Buffalo Shark Nuggets and wish I would have ordered some myself. The shark was melt in your mouth tasty with a nice crunchy fish batter with buffalo. YUM. This was my first time here and I decided to try it after seeing the owner responding to people's complaints some silly some not. I had the boiled shrimp and their mako salad so I could try some shark to see what it was like. The shrimp were good and large, a little over cooked but not too chewy. The salad was huge and they used fresh heathy greens, no iceberg lettuce or romaine for filler. The Mako chunks in it were nice and firm with no fishy taste. It was a very mild good fish to enjoy. The waitress was very attentive any time I thought about needing something a minute later she was there asking. All in all for a little place in an area with no ocean it was pretty good. Not a great place. Ordered several items, all out. Ended up with Fish Tacos and Backyard shrimp. Asked for Salsa with my Tacos, waitress said she would bring Mango Salsa. Never brought it. Backyard Shrimp came with 5 small shrimp and cold, as in, never cooked corn on cob. Waitress said they have been having a problem with cold corn. And that the shrimp start out bigger, but shrunk when cooked. ??? My 11 year old left hungry after that joke of a small meal. Never asked or refilled water. Did I mention the restaurant was empty and the food took over 25 minutes to receive after ordering. Avoid this place, save your money. read more

We've gotten the meal kits from Deep Blue a few times now. Very happy with the quality and ease of preparation. We only use a portion of the shrimp boil seasoning packet as its pretty potent. Roughly half to 2/3 is about right for us. Shrimp tacos and fish tacos are awesome and are a nice meal for two. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Well I would have liked to review the food, but never got to eat there because for some reason they changed their hours and are not open on Mondays anymore. Why the heck wouldn't a restaurant be open on a week night!! While sitting in my car trying to decide where else to go, we saw over the course of ten minutes, three other groups come up to find the same thing, that they were closed. We came here for lunch and it was an overall positive experience. We ordered just before noon and waited about 25 minutes for our food, but once we got it it was great. One of us ordered the gator bites, one ordered shrimp tacos and two of us ordered the grilled mako (shark) tacos. The food was very flavorful and we were all really impressed.
