So, I went here on the recommendation of a co-worker, as well as the recommendation of my physician, who told me to eat fish three times per week. I mean, it's right there in the name. Fish. Eat here three times weekly and you'll be healthy.... Their oysters are great. Check 'em out. You won't regret it. They have a variety of fried fish, fried shrimp, fish tacos... it's all great. I think the place may be a little over rated. Our server was 18 and when we asked questions she was unsure or herself and didn't appear to have any proper training. We were constantly asking her to take away empty plates due to the small size of our table. I had to ask for more water and then the kicker was the 3.99% service fee for using a credit card. Over all our bill was $100 for two of us, we each had a drink with our meal and had appetizers. Just don't think I'll be a repeat customer. Too much hype. read more

First off, I frequent this restaurant semi-regularly. I've eaten here dozens of times. After my last experience, I will never return. My partner and I arrived early on a Thursday. The restaurant was basically empty. We sat outside. From the first moment, for no reason I can fathom, our server was unforgivably rude and unhelpful. My beer took forever to be served. We were not given any bread, and when I asked for some, the server seemed put-out. She returned with the bread, sans plates and butter. Same ordeal when the fish was served. Just fish in a basket, with no tartar sauce or coleslaw. Again, I had to ask for these items, which come with the meal. the server was even more rude and snippy. She basically stared daggers, suppressing an eye roll with a patronizing sneer. This rude treatment was for no reason. I left a standard tip, over 20%, because I have some class. The food was okay, but nothing special. This restaurant has gone way downhill in the last couple of years, especially the service. read more

Food was great but was a huge fan of my experience, my server messed up my order then charged me for the food that i didn't ask for. When i asked her about it she said her manager originally took it off then said because we ate the food he was changing us for it. The food is amazing, I had a combo of #3 fish and chips, I upgraded to lobster bisque of $2 extra to replace the chips, it's $2 worth spending. The lobster bisque is very flavorful and you can taste bites of little lobsters inside. The size of both of my fish are pretty generous. The fish is flaky and fresh, outside is crunchy, one of the best fish and chips I had ever had. I had the combo so got to try both cod and halibut. But I wish they have combo of all three fishes I had crab cake for appetizer, which js very good size and filled with crab that you can easily see those crab meat. We also enjoyed the happy hour for $5 beer, the size is great for this happy hour. You can choose any draft beer for this price. Definitely recommend o take advantage to come here to eat/ drink early Service was not great, not sure if it was because it was earlier before their dinner time around 5pm, saw many waiter/waitress were standing near he bar talking but we were placed in the very back, hard to get anyone's attention to order or add food. This was my second visit to Beer & Fish Company. My first visit left a lot to be desired so I was hoping that my second time around would be awesome... For starters I was seated in an area with a direct view of what I assume to be the pot storage for the restaurant. I love an open kitchen concept but this definitely was not that. I ordered grilled oysters, shrimp scampi, crab dip, a crab cake, and crab dip. The best dish on the table was the oysters! They were a little small but had amazing flavor. The pasta was a bit dry, but thank heaven for the sauce the oysters were covered in, I just tossed my pasta in it. The crab dip should be removed from the menu immediately. It was very loose, fishy, and had absolutely no crab meat real or imitation. The crab cake needed salt and a little love. I didn't have a drink but I could tell by the patrons next to me the margaritas are awesome. I recommend checking out Beer & Fish during happy hour to save yourself some money, trust me. It's an awful feeling to spend upwards of $90 for a meal that was not awesome. read more

I am only updating this review because we were there early on a Saturday like 3:30? The place wasn't busy but are service was slow. I mean 15 minutes before we were greeted by the waitress that sat us. Then we ordered drinks and oysters. We thought when she brought our last drink she would take our order but didn't. So anther table next to us sat got drinks and ordered before we had to stop her to take our dinner order. Sad thing we didn't get soup we ordered but weren't charged thankfully. Wow, amazing food and service. Sydney was a delight! The portions were HUGE. I couldn't handle it and left so much behind but I was so full!!! We got the chargrilled oysters and they are FLAVORED. I will get the raw ones next time so I can taste the oyster over the garlic but the cooked ones were good. Both my partner and I got the pesto and loved it!!!! He kept the shrimp but I really wanted extra scallop. He commented that the shrimp helped add different texture to the meal. The room temperature butter spread very easily. It was good. I ordered fish & chips meal #3 which was 1 pc cod, 1 pc halibut. I chose fresh potato sliced chips. The batter on the fish was thin and very crispy. I like that. The fish was very temperature hot. For me I would've like the batter to have a little more seasoning to it, but it was still good. Fish murals and nautical decor made it quite inviting. Hannah was our Bartender. She was very pleasant and quite busy but still very attentive to our needs. Hannah brought over some homemade sourdough bread.... OMG... it was delicious !! We ordered the Cod sandwich to share with Fries. The fries were quite crispy on the outside and soft, fluffy on the inside.... LOVED them. I had business in fargo for just the day and was looking for a lunch spot that didn't involve a heavy burger. I found beer and fish and was glad i did. This place is located on an alley entrance but i found it with no problems. Upon entering it has a sharp modern decor, unlike many of the more dated locations in town. Most of all when i entered i didn't get a fishy smell, which is always a good sign. I ordered a 2 piece cod fish n chips with a crab cake starter. I was a little hesitant on the crab cake order because i have had the real deal in boston and that is a high bar to make. Lots of places say they have fresh crab cakes but they turn out to be hard little pucks of mostly bread crumb filling. Not these! The crab cake was a healthy portion and it was mostly crab meat, with little filling. It had excellent taste and a touch of zing in the spice. Very good. The fish n chips was a good portion. The cod filet was thick so the ratio of fish to breading was definitely way more fish than breading, which i like. The tarter sauce was homemade with a nice flavor of dill. Fries were cut on the thicker side and well seasoned. One of the unexpected pluses was their homemade bread. It was served hot and was airy and delicious. Total homerun there. The service was above average and server had great recommendations. The whole place was very clean, including the restroom. I had a very enjoyable lunch and i would go back without hesitation.
