I don't play executive courses much and also hardly ever walk a course, but with what's going on I thought I'd give this place a shot. Relatively flat track with only a few holes with mild elevation changes. Greens can be difficult to read and have a good amount of pace to them which made it challenging. The boxes seemed well maintained and had been appropriately moved around so you wasn't standing in 100 divots. Pace of play was good for a mid-week morning. What I DID like the most was they had a hand sanitizing station out side the bathrooms, pro shop, and snack shack areas. Felt clean and safe coming here. I will be back and maybe think about a membership. read more

This golf course has recently reopened due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Although with some minor restrictions, the course has been kept up nicely and the setting remains to be beautiful ...the game is perfect for social distancing. Business is conducted thru the outside windows, bathrooms are limited to one person at a time, and the cafe is closed . But this is a good start to returning back to a new normal. read more

Damn yelp, why no half stars. Almost 4 stars. Played on a rainy spring day. Parking simple, green fees after 2pm are 41bucks. Youth on course 5 bucks. Lots of draft beers, i powered thru with h2o. Course is roughly 6 par 4's and 12 par 3's. Narrow course with water hazards so bring x'tra balls if you drive like me. Lots of pitching wedge, 6 iron, 4 iron sand putter work here. A good time is what is found here. Wish I had a pretzel after 9. read more

Friendly staff and has good food. I took a lesson from the staff through Los Gatos community classes and the experience was very nice. Matthew was very patient and informative but unfortunately I had to cut my lessons short due to travel. Definitely will go back and take more lessons. read more

First let it be said that I have been playing at Deep Cliff Golf Course since 1973 and I still live in Cupertino as I have since 1968. A graduate of Monta Vista HS in 1982, I consider DCGC a jewel in my Cupertino Crown and wonderful life long highlights have been enjoyed on the property. One of those highlights was a golf tournament that was held every Summer by some classmates from Monta Vista. Rich in it's 9 year history it provided a perfect venue for this gathering of fellow Cupertinians and MVHS folks ranging in age for 18 - 79. Economically speaking it was reasonably priced 18 holes and a modest lunch for $60 per player. THis year however the tournaments founder and co-hosts Kent Van Horn and Alisa Priel were told by GM Shane Stevens that the cost would now be $100 dollars per player. Try as they might Kent and Alisa were unable to find a solution to this huge cost increase, btw with no offer of value added service bare bones nada zip! The hosts have tried to reach out to Mr Stevens and he has been unavailable for 3 weeks. I will still probably play golf at the course but I will not spend a dollar on any services merchandise food clothes equipment nothing. I've golfed at DC for decades. Beautiful course though the maintenance is spotty, at best. So many places to twist an ankle or trip in a pothole (beware hole #6). The driving range is closed to golfers but not the kids in camp or lessons. We've been told they need to hire someone to pickup the balls. Give me a break. Management is SO lazy!!!! When I go to golf 18, I want to warm up -- period. You're a real course or you're not. Pre-Covid they'd run out of tokens regularly and close the range as well. Lazy, lazy, lazy. The only person I ever see working is the guy that used to cook. They should make him manager. Get it together and open the range!!!!! read more

I was just informed that after holding our monta Vista highschool alumni annual golf tournament is in danger of not happening due to price gouging. The GM is on vacation and know one seems to want to keep our business after 9 successful years. Let's hope the Honor the price of 65.00 not 100.00. It's deep cliff not Tori pines or Carmel. Great course for best ball tournament. Lots of par 3's and a few par 4's. Lots of tree's and narrow fair ways at times. We enjoyed it. Held the 2nd annual Rotary Jim McGovern charity tournament there. read more

Newer golfer and I'd say this was a decent course. Lots of wildlife and the greens are generally taken care of. I paid for a single round of 18 which was $51. I opted into the membership which was $99 for the calendar year. My membership expires in January but I live close and figured I would get more than my moneys worth. Being a member each round would be $30 so it made getting the membership a no-brainer. To start, the course is easy to find and has plenty of parking. The staff at the clubhouse are friendly and accommodating. I was playing with 2 friends and we kept a good pace up to the turn. The Marshall informed us an elderly man would be joining us on the back 9. On the 10th hole we were told we needed to play at a faster pace because the people behind us were trying to tee off. That was a bit irritating to hear because we had no problems with pace earlier in the morning and we get paired with an elderly man and we're told to play faster. We picked up the pace and on the 11th hole we had to wait for a family to finish the hole before we could hit. Not much we can do about pace if there's people in front. After our 18 we grabbed a couple crafty beers and had a chicken sandwich, hot link, and Louisiana sausage. The chicken sandwich was nothing special. Just a Frozen breaded patty that was oven baked. Both the hot link and Louisiana sausage were pretty good. One thing to note is that the flies here are relentless and will land on you. Also found 5-6 fleas on my legs throughout the 18. read more

four stars for the maintenance, accessibility and value. it's not super challenging (3300 from blues and par 60) with 6 par 4s and the rest par 3s. it's tight and short and you hear lots of people yelling "fore!!!" but it's a fun track with a nice layout. definitely worth it for practicing your short game read more

I usually enjoy this course as for a mid level golfer it's a nice challenge. However, recently it's completely overbooked and there is no oversight or not a marshal to manage things. I'm talking up to four groups waiting on the tee at any given time. It ruins any hope of a nice pace for your round. Definitely will look at other courses in the area. read more

First off, this is an absolutely gorgeous course! The scenery, the wildlife, and most importantly... The Golf! This is a great course to practice your mid-short game on. At this course, there isn't much of a need to use your driver. There are only about 2 holes that you would need to use a wood on. You get a lot of practice on your short game, which is what most people need to work on since you will be using it the most. The course is almost always in great condition! The grass is always green, the creeks are always flowing, and the golf is always great! (Well, maybe not my actual game, but I do have a good time! Haha) I have found a few Groupon/Living Social deals for this course. I usually always pick one up because I do enjoy coming here. The only reason I took away a star is because it can get backed up (Due to SLOW players) and the Marshall doesn't really do much about that. Also, it can get pricy during prime golfing time. And the other is there isn't much of a driving range, but more of a warm up area. But, if you can usually find tee time deals during the middle of the week. Either way, I enjoy this course and would recommend to anyone to play! read more

I hated this course the first time. Very narrow course and I lost about 10 balls. I have since learned to love this course. Good practice for your short game. My only complaint is that they don't have an air compressor to clean your shoes. The course tends to be muddy and wet in some parts and your shoes will get clogged especially for those that have the cleats. read more

Driving range seems to be a netted hitting area. It is closed is due to Covid. You can chip from the collar of the practice green.

Not sure what is going on here . I have been a member for the past two years and when they said would I like to renew last November I said of course. Then I went to play last Saturday and they said my membership had expired? I was outraged when I informed them that I had just paid in November he said and I quote it's due every year? Why in the hell would I pay twice for 2019? You guys are a joke my money will never be back . read more

Really chill, easy course with mostly par 3's and a couple par 4's. I would say the median yardage is around 150-160 yards. Driving range is rather lackluster. Very short, but it works. Nice putting green. read more

This driving range used to be open to the public. Since COVID, they have shut it down and it has been MONTHS since the driving range was useable to Cupertino locals. This is an outdooor driving range and it makes NO sense at all to restrict access only to golf lessons and kid training sessions. All in the name of being safe from COVID? Give me a break. It has been over a year, and it doesn't sound like they have any plans to reopen anytime soon. If they do, I'll adjust my rating to be higher, but I'm not holding my breath. read more

Really poorly maintained. Extremely expensive for a mainly par 3 course. Don't recommend it.

Love the course but the guys running the Tap House could use a little caffeine to be nice. They seem to run the grill at their speed regardless of customers. One of the employees who was suppose to be behind the counter was sitting at a table reading his paper while we stood for a few minutes waiting for someone to take our order. Unfortunately this is a bad review for a golf course that is very scenic. This was my first time golfing here did not have a pleasant experience. 6/18 putting greens had sprinklers going which made them unplayable. Several were flooded and soaked our cleats/socks. Multiple Generators were active and very loud causing distractions. We had several groups (6-10) of kids receiving instruction from a trainer ahead of us which slowed the pace of play. At the end of our round, I brought up our issues to Shane in the club house only to receive a very rude man yelling at us. We were very polite and just wanted to inform the clubhouse only to be lectured. I have been golfing for over 20 years and have never experienced flooded greens, groups of 10 and generators running and will never return again. It's a shame to because the course has a lot of potential. read more

Great beginner to intermediate course in a beautiful little location (although a little hard to find even with Google directions)! Came here on a Friday afternoon and got a 2 for 1 deal using the 2011 Golf Value Book! Only $16 for 18 holes and a small bucket of range balls! Driving range was pathetic (netted), but the putting practice greens were nice. This course fit my skill level perfectly! Most of the holes are par 3, but there are some par 4's where you can practice your woods or driver! Will definitely play this course again in the future, but maybe not when it's so hot :) read more

I played my first round here on thursday after their renovation. I was always under the impression that they were under construction instead of renovation. All the hole layouts remains the same. A lot of tee box now added a fake grass mat like the ones in driving range but much longer. I hope it's there only during this post-renovation stage and nurturing their new SOD. I notice some bunkers are gone. However, the sand in the bunkers are amazingly fluffy and on par with expensive courses bunkers! Which is a nice welcome. Holes are generally easier with the moved-up tee box. I enjoy the "new" deep cliff and hope more good news to come. read more

Deep Cliff is a wonderful go-to course for quick rounds, family golf, short game work, and overall leisure. The pricing is quite competitive, and it is also a Youth-On-Course facility. The course recommends a pace-of-play that averages out to about 12 minutes per hole. This is very doable and walkable; but be advised that as always, ball searches will throw off the time. In other words, you can be confident to sneak in a lunchtime 9 (if you don't punch a clock); and on most days you can be confident not to be out all day. Carts are available (to my amusement), and push cart rentals are also available. The snack shop keeps better hours than lots of golf courses, and serves until the last tee time would be off. This is quite a plus, actually. Shoreline GL in Mountain View and Palo Alto GC have only their bars open at the end of the day. Snickers bars and sandwiches from the fridge are all you can go for at those courses. Not so at Deep Cliff. And yes, the staff at both the Pro Shop and the Snack Bar are friendly and cool people. Being what it is, you can expect that some days might be slow; what with families and beginners over-grouped sometimes being out there. But this is a normal thing; and usually they let you through if you're in a real hurry. Also, it is a popular local group tournament location, so you may find yourself trying to sneak in before their flight tees off. But best not to be in a rush, if you can avoid it. Because the location offers some wonderful scenery, and a fun layout for every level of player. Beginners don't have to worry about crushing the ball, and more skilled players have to be smart not to go for long shots in which they might hit tree branches or get bad bounces. I think of it as U.S. Open-ey in this regard: you are rewarded for hitting fairway, and they are not always all that wide. Normal length courses usually have a lot more field to stick a ball in. At Deep Cliff, go ahead and play that provisional, because if you think it sliced into the woods or creek; it probably did. I'm rather fond of the course, and return there again and again for various reasons. Short game work, don't have time to play 6000 yards (when I'm a crappy golfer who goes looking for balls), or just feeling leisurely and need the walk. Have fun! read more

I'm a beginner golfer and my boyfriend has been golfing, since he was little. I highly suggest golfers that have a beginner with them to go to this course. Gives me a chance to improve, and still is able to somewhat challenge my boyfriend. It's a great course with 3 different tee boxes (white, blue, and yellow). We went around 6PM and was still able to get a 9 hole game in for $10 each (twilight deal). We even played a couple holes twice, and was able to practice putting on a couple of the greens. read more

Took 2hr 30 min for me and a buddy and we are not great golfers. Did 2 par, 16 single bogies. Agree w/Rick below as this golf course is great for novice players and people that want to improve their iron play. So the 5 star rating is based on that, not for a full length regulation golf course. If your looking for a nice full length course in the south bay, check out Cinnabar Hills in south San Jose. It is an executive golf course which basically means that it is not a full length course. (Full length: Par 72 and usually 6000 yards or more) They have 18 holes, but they are all par 3's and a few par 4's scattered throughout each 9. A few holes with water hazards. A cart is not needed because it is short and there is not much in terms of elevation changes. Walk and burn a few calories.... A pull cart is all you really need. Tucked away near the Cupertino foothills, the surroundings / environment / views of the hills are great. If you haven't been here and are working on your game, try it out as it should be a challenge even for the 10 handicapper. Try to play during the week as the weekends are often crowded, just like any other golf course. read more

Another great little hidden gem of a golf course tucked into a pocket in the Cupertino foothills. My friends and I used to play this mini 18-hole course when we were in high school. Not mini golf mind you, just a short course of about 4,000 yards that's not particularly difficult and is ideal for the beginner. Its really pretty too; a creek meanders down through the course and there are ponds, groves of trees and little hummocks and hills surround the whole course. And there really is a very high, steep cliff on the back 9 that is quite awesome to see. Great public course for novices, elderly folks or casual sunday golfers who just want to have a peaceful, enjoyable morning of non-competitive golf. read more

When I first learned to play I would come here often. It is an executive course, meaning 18 holes that are shorter length an a championship course. This course is plenty challenging for me even today as the greens are relatively small. This course begins to challenge your game and makes you think were to put your tee shot to be in a good position for your approach shot. The downsides to this course are the pace of play, which can leaving you waiting at every tee box for the group in front of you, and there is no real driving range (only driving nets) to warm up. read more

Well maintained golf course for ridiculously cheap prices if you go at the right time. At GolfNow, you can get a full round for as low at $20 if you go at the dead times of the day, with a tee time right around lunch time (11:30-12:30). The course itself isnt that difficult. No Par 5's, decent length Par 4s. Par 3s that go from hella short (80 yds from the blue tee) to relatively long (180 yds, cmon now, we're not pros). Cafe has great polish dogs. It's also better if they let you start on the back 9, its alot easier than the front 9 so you can get your swing right by the time the challenging stuff comes into play. read more

This course is just wonderful. It is the perfect course for me as a beginner. I love the variety of distances so I can practice with many of my clubs. The grounds are well kept and not to mention the deer on the course always makes me smile. I had the pleasure of getting lessons from Carl Wheatley. He is a wonderful instructor and I was able to see improvement immediately. He is very patient and didn't make me feel bad about missing the ball - repeatedly. I recommend DCGC to anyone! read more
