A great course for beginners like myself, no pressure and great course design. The tricky sand traps were fun. Thank you Peter for your nice compliments and tips on chipping. I look forward to playing again at your course. :)

This is great place for beginners or people just dusting off their clubs. Really well taken care of greens , fun holes great staff. Priced exactly as what a 9 hole should be!

Parking lot I wish had more shade. Check in is in the golf store. Sign in and accepting the waiver is electronic on an iPad. PRICE: 9 hole golf course. They have Groupons for discounted rates. Kinda sucked I wasn't playing and had to pay $5 due to a liability fee. I get it it's a business they want to make money but still, I haven't been charged that anywhere else. COURSE: has some shade so that was good especially being summer. Course map lists water but it's all dried up due to no rain and the drought. OVERALL: not a bad 9 hole course so three stars for being A-OK. Have been to better green courses where the grass is better kept. People in front of us were slow and not following good etiquette like swinging more than once and spending a lot of time looking for balls. I know not the fault of the golf course but maybe someone should explain the golf rules to them.

Blackberry farm is situated near Steven's Creek in Cupertino near the pool Rec center. At a par 29, you get to eek out a few longer par 4s but there are many short drop holes to hit as well. Good for practice before a full 18 course, but the drought really does show here. Dry grass and long waits (holiday weekend certainly played into that). Fairly priced at $17, I found the course just okay. Replay rates are $13 and there is a full bar upstairs, however the gals there were training a new lady, and she poured my drink wrong. Gave me a Jameson and water on the rocks instead of a Jameson and ginger ale. I took the drink anyway, but was still charged full price. My GF ordered a mojito and it was good, but all together it came to $20. A bit pricy for 2 drinks and one that was the wrong item... Anyways, probably will visit again but bring my own drinks and snacks.

This review is for the rental picnic area. We had about 150 people but the space is good up to 500. No speakers or amps allowed. Totally sucks! We brought in Darryl Scotti Events and they didn't even tell us about no speakers/music/amps. The location and ambiance is nice though. If you want a quite low key place, this is it. If you want a poppin' party, I suggest Baylands Park.

When the smiling young face at the farm's admission booth told informed me that it would cost $32.00 for four of us to swim at the facility pool, my reaction was "ouch!" but then I saw what that that money gave me access to. Two clean pools --- one with a twisted water slide, well manicured lawn, vigilant life guards, clean bathrooms and a cafe all embraced but a lush tree line. This place puts other public pools to shame!! I felt comfortable letting the two 10-year-olds exercise their independence and roam the pool area without my constant presence. For kids to swim in the deep end of the pool unattended, they must pass a swim test. The two oldest kids with me received a bright pink bracelet showing they had done just that. They were in and out of the deep end and shooting down the water slide consistently soon after wards. This is a great place to introduce young children to swimming. The water is shallow enough for them to stand up and put their faces in the water when they are ready in large parts of both pools. The temperature is also comfortable so there is no chance of surprising little ones with a cold shock when getting in. I would like to see more healthy choices in the cafe though. They do sell salads but there was an awful lot of candy for sale as well as greasy grill choices. It would have been nice to see fruit and some grab and go sandwich choices. All-in-all, a nice place though --- we'll be back!

That 1-star off is due to the luck factor here on who's in front of you that the course and staff can't control (perhaps some level of marshaling). I've completed this course in 2.5hrs, while yesterday took me 3 hrs to finish 11 holes, so you see the variance. Group in front of us yesterday were clearly 4 beginners that insisted to start from blue boxes...when it took them a few shots to go from blue to yellow, you know it's a long day. Everyone gotta start somewhere, but be nice to other players on pacing is part of golf etiquette too

It's just that, given how this place is in Cupertino, which I've always been quite fond of, I guess I just thought this course would stand out when, in hindsight, it's probably perfectly fine for what it is. Compared to some of the other courses my friends and I have played around the Bay Area, Deep Cliff is rather unique in its own way. As an executive course, made up entirely of par-3's and par-4's, the full 18 isn't particularly lengthy, which is great for beginners and/or anyone trying to get in a quick round. Yet, while it plays pretty fair for the most part, it still offers some challenges, with the creek/water hazards appearing on several holes, prominent bunkers fronting several holes (especially on the 18th), numerous tree lined fairways that create a narrow feel, and areas that are a bit more wooded, especially along the edge that runs next to an open green space. Despite how some of Deep Cliff's unique features are largely positive, they can cut the other way, too. For example, while all of those trees create some much appreciated shade when it's warm and sunny, those wooded areas are also home to wildlife that will occasionally wander onto the course. Awesome to see, but it can lead to some (understandable) pauses in play as you wait for the deer and the like to clear out. Thankfully, that didn't happen to us and we were here on a weekday, so our pace of play was still pretty steady. However, between that and how short some of the holes are, I can see the course getting bogged down on weekends when there are that many more folks around. As for everything else Deep Cliff has to offer, their facilities and amenities are decent enough. Our cart was serviceable and clean, the pro shop was fine, and their onsite restaurant looked like a nice spot to grab a post-round beer. That said, certain aspects could've been better. At a couple of points, it didn't feel intuitive as to where we should go (the worker at the desk gave us some confusing directions for where the first tee box was) and, most notably, the driving "range" was more like a bunch of netting that you hit into (I know they're limited on space, but still). All in all, even though I'm only giving three stars, I actually think Deep Cliff's three and a half star average is more accurate. It's a solid option for anyone just getting started, as well as more experienced golfers looking to work on their irons or short game, and their rates aren't too shabby. Since it's a bit of a drive from us, though, coming back would be more for a change of pace than as part of our rotation. However, I'm sure we'll be back down the line...and when we do, it'll be with a more appropriate set of expectations that just might lead to an improved review! Until then, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

We had a 10:30 a.m. tee time and arrived with our 6-month-old sons in strollers. We have played at many golf courses throughout the San Jose area and have never once been turned away because we had our children with us. We understand the risks involved and have always complied with any course requirements. Upon arrival, the woman working at the front desk immediately informed us that children in strollers were not allowed on the course. Her attitude was dismissive from the start and made us feel completely unwelcome. When I asked where this policy was stated in the course rules, she admitted that it was not actually written anywhere. Instead, she explained that it was up to the discretion of the person working at the desk to decide who would be allowed to play. Rather than trying to help us or offer any reasonable solution, she was rude and made irrelevant comments such as, "This isn't baseball." We never suggested it was, and we made it clear that we fully understood the risks associated with bringing our children onto a golf course. Despite this, she refused to assist us in any way. I later spoke with the manager, Hay, regarding the situation. Unfortunately, he supported the employee's decision and attitude. He stated that children are not allowed on the course because of the risk of injury due to the course's "narrow" fairways. I explained that we have played a wide variety of courses, including many with short and narrow fairways, and have never been denied access. At other courses, we simply sign a waiver acknowledging the risks. He informed me that Sunken Gardens does not offer that option. What made this experience especially frustrating was not just the policy itself, but the way it was handled. We were treated as though we were unreasonable for wanting to enjoy a round of golf while introducing our children to the sport and spending time outdoors as a family. The entire interaction felt unwelcoming, dismissive, and unprofessional. As a result of this experience, I will not be booking any future tee times at Sunken Gardens Golf Course. I will also be sharing my experience with friends, family, and fellow golfers so they can make informed decisions before choosing to play here. Customer service and respectful communication matter, and unfortunately, Sunken Gardens failed in both areas.
