The oldest pool in Texas with spring-fed water keeping water temps around 68 degrees year-round. There is so much history surrounding the pool and its land. In the 1850s a Swedish immigrant built a house on the land (approximately 39 acres). In 1902 the Deep Eddy Resort was opened by his kids. Cottages, camping, and so much more. Over the centuries it changed hands and was purchased by City of Austin. After being destroyed by flooding, it was completely rebuilt. I like that there is a separate pool for lap swimming. Plenty of grass areas for blankets, towels, relaxing when out of the water. Upper level has tables for eating. The pools and grounds are immaculate making for comfortable and pleasurable swimming and relaxing. Kiosks for payment to enter or cash at the front desk. Can also download an app and purchase as well (easiest option). Only $5 for residents. Parking is tricky. The lot is SMALL. We always opt to park a couple of streets over and walk.

Was all set to go to Barton Springs today (Thursday) only to realize it's closed on Thursdays! So, Deep Eddy pool to the rescue! I've not been to any of Austin's swimming holes or public pools and after reading some reviews online I was a bit skeptical for what I'd encounter at Deep Eddy but I was pleasantly surprised! The parking lot is definitely NOT big and I can see how on a weekend it would be a nightmare for parking but at 10am on a Thursday, I was able to find a spot in the lot with no issue. Kiosks at the end of the parking lot are NOT for parking (I thought they were) but rather for tickets to enter the pool. You have to use the kiosks if you're using card, $5 for adult residents (you can pay with cash at the entry but must have exact change). The pool itself was clear and blue (not what I expected after reading reviews) and there is a specific area for lane swimming/laps. Lifeguards are stationed around the pool which is great. The only issue I had was with seating/lounging. There definitely aren't many options but there are spots on the small "hill" to lay out a sheet or towel. Shade and sun were open when I went. Overall, I thought this was a great pool option if you're looking for one! I can absolutely understand how parking could be a nightmare but if you go early on a weekday, enjoy without issue!

    Beautiful day at Deep Eddie!

Brought my nephew here to bake in the Texas heat. The water was very refreshing. Natural spring water and huge pool. Half of the pool you can do laps whereas the other half is shallow with a zero entry section. It was free entry the day we went which made it even sweeter! Would bring multiple towels or a blanket to lay on the dead grass and a large sun hat next time. Also never have seen so many people sun tan with their body spread out like a starfish! Do you need to tan your goodies? Lol

Deep eddy is a great public pool alternative to Barton Springs. Pretty expansive pool that is great for kids and plenty of seating. Unlike Barton, Deep Eddy has a slope from 0 to 4 ft. of water on one end and lap pool / 8ft deep end on the other side. Went on a Sunday morning around 11:00 and really wasn't crowded at all. Plenty of places to lay out in the sun or shade. The filters didn't seem to be working a whole lot as there was a lot of debris and bits in the water, but it was not bad. Very clean on the lap pool side. A great summer activity!

really fun place, lots of room to lay a towel down and relax also! If you're below a certain age and come without a parent, you have to do a quick swim test in front of a lifeguard but it's simple and pretty easy. The only thing I didn't like about Deep Eddy Pool is that if you get snacks/food or anything at the concession stand, you have to get enough to pay at least $5 or $7 of food or something like that, so you can't just get one thing. However, Deep Eddy Pool is a really fun place and I totally recommend going with some friends this summer!

The deep eddy pool is a fun place to get really really cold on a really hot summer day. Don't bring sugar drinks or snacks because the ants will try to eat it plus, they don't allow it except upstairs. Take a look at the murals at the far end of the pool it's amazing. I love the tiny details that are in that mural, if you want a way to cool down and by the way, parking is very hard to come by if you're interested in getting a parking space close to the entrance you might have to do alseveral circles around the parking lot

Monday evening at 7pm, not many people, face mask required at entry. The water is cold at first but once you're used to it it's totally an enjoyment! Plus, it's free!

The pool was very green and murky with algae and leaves all over. Seems like the pool is not filtered very well. Would not recommend.

So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

Barton Springs Pool is one of those places where you walk in confident, dip a toe, and immediately reconsider every life choice that led you here. The setting is undeniably gorgeous -- big open lawn, limestone edges, and that classic "everyone here looks like they do yoga at sunrise" vibe. Once you're in, though, it's great. The water is clear, refreshing, and shockingly consistent year‑round. It's the kind of cold that first feels like punishment and then suddenly feels like therapy. The crowd is a mix of locals who swim laps like it's their religion, families trying to convince their kids the water isn't that cold, and visitors who clearly didn't know what they were signing up for. Logistics-wise, it's Austin, so parking can be a mild adventure depending on when you go. The grassy areas fill up fast, and you'll definitely see at least one person sunbathing in a spot that makes you wonder how they got there. But the place is clean, well‑maintained, and big enough that you can usually find your own little corner of summer. If you're expecting a warm, lazy pool float afternoon, this isn't it. If you want a classic Austin experience that shocks you awake and then chills you out, Barton Springs delivers every time.

From day one, his attention to detail, communication, and craftsmanship were outstanding. Before we received the final contract, Nate spent months with us on the design, going back and forth on every detail and with extreme patience. He was able to provide accurate pricing on all the additions and changes. When we would ask for something he would explain WHY it can or cannot be done. Every step of the process was handled with professionalism and care, and it is clear he takes immense pride in his work. What stood out the most, though, was his character. He's honest, dependable, and truly cares about doing things the right way. In an industry where that isn't always guaranteed, working with someone who leads with integrity made the entire experience stress-free and genuinely enjoyable. Nate has a degree in civil engineering from A&M and is able to explain the physics of why we might not want to do something we think we want to do. We were wanting a special feature for the pool and Nate said we could do it as long as it was done a certain way. We pushed back and he gently provided the justification and engineering evidence to support his stance. We are so glad he talked us down from making a potential thousands of dollars mistake and he handled it with patience, care and understanding. He consistently went above and beyond, caught things we never would have noticed, and made sure everything was done to the highest standard. It was a total slam dunk from start to finish. If you're considering building a pool, I would recommend Athena Pools without hesitation. He didn't just build us a pool -- he created a space our family will enjoy for years to come. Every subsequent contractor we interviewed stated they'd never seen such damage. One wouldn't touch it, another would not guarantee the work and others offered to simply fill it in. Needless to say that we were dismayed. Along came a recommendation from a long time friend (thank you Michael Curlee) who connected us with Richard Ginsberg owner of Trinity Pools and Scapes. Richard is a no nonsense type of person who rips off the band aid with care! He understood our view and was confident that he could get us back to enjoying our days in the pool and evenings in the spa. Working with Richard was a refreshing experience. Demolition began as soon as the permits were approved. Like clockwork, subs came and went without any stoppages. The crews worked tirelessly including Saturdays and sometimes in the rain. Richard knowing that we were fresh from a horrible experience, kept us informed throughout the process. We appreciated his patience as we worked through the selections and yes, one design change which is what happens while one waits on the City for permits...more ideas spring up! We've been enjoying our pool for about a week now and we couldn't be happier with the result. You'll be as thankful as we are for hiring him!
