This was my second year in a row coming and it was so much bigger then last year. Pretty awesome local bands on stage. It's cool to just walk around Deep Ellum checking out some stellar art work while drinking a cold beer and munching out on some awesome fair foods!

Great event went early masked many not masked artists selling their wears and music on every corner. Something for everyone and able to try local deep ellum restaurants.

An eclectic mix of artists from all over the US (Iowa, Colorado, ATX, etc.) descended on the Deep Ellum neighborhood for a three day festival. The city closes the streets to car traffic, and the pedestrians fill every available space that's left. Vendor tents line both sides of the streets. Each intersection has food vendors, coupon booths, an ATM, porta-potties, and a stage with different bands and musical acts performing. Free street parking can be found if you go early; otherwise there were lots where you could pay for festival parking. We went on Sunday for the pet-friendly day. At the street intersections where the food vendors and tables and chairs could be found, there were also water dishes out for the dogs. We stopped at these water holes regularly and they always seemed filled with fresh water. At another intersection we found a food truck for dogs. Pawtastic Snacks was selling frozen yogurt for your pooch. Flavors included things like bacon and peanut butter. Unfortunately it was the only pet vendor we saw. There was an artist that would do a painting of your dog on canvas for several hundred dollars. I'm surprised there wasn't a caricaturist there. Great business opportunity for someone. At 11:00am, people with pets met at the Deep Ellum dog park to register for the dog parade. Some dressed up their mutts in costumes (Brittany Spears was spotted in her school girl uniform). The Pet Parade procession made its way down the vendor aisle around noon followed by the People Parade with marching band, small cart floats and dancers at 1:00pm. As the afternoon sun blazed down, the crowds got so thick it became difficult to navigate the walkway. We had to leave because our foster pup was overwhelmed by the masses. Thankfully we were able to retreat to the shaded Deep Ellum dog park where the pup could relieve herself and relax. Although most of the artists were selling out of my price range, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting their temporary tent galleries during the festival.

It was a great day for a festival. Came here to enjoy looking at art and listening to the music and.....okay, just kidding. I came here to do that, but mainly to try the foods! Atmosphere - 5/5 - Great day, lots of diverse people and great little areas with art displays. Just a great time. Staff - 4/5 - Most just waited until you came to their booth and spoke to them first. Food - 4/5 - Carnival type Food. What we ordered: - BBQ Sandwich - Toffee Apple - Brat with Bacon and other items Thoroughly enjoyed each one, but nothing amazing about them. It was nice that the cut the apple, which made it easier to eat. Overall, it was a great time, and will probably come back next year.

This Festival is a great idea and very much needed in Dallas, but it needs to be expanded to other streets. Trying to stroll down Main Street and check out the artists' booths and the live music was almost impossible. My hubby & I went on Saturday and it was a gorgeous day, so the festival was packed. The crowd was huge. We actually got stuck in a giant foot traffic jam for about ten minutes. I'm not griping (because I love outdoor festivals), but it really is too big to have on just one street. Also, expanding the streets would also make it easier for people to bring pets and kids. There were many local and far away artists with some fascinating looking treasures, but we couldn't even make it to half of the booths due to the narrow street and large crowd. Hopefully, next year, it will expand geographically.

Literally stumbled across this festival by accident. DEAF puts the art in art festival, with all forms of art, most impressively the artistic talents of the musicians. I was quite impressed with the number of active stages (4) and variety of the performers (folk - 13 bands, rock/alternative - 19 bands, blues/jazz - 19 bands, see http://lineup.deepellumartsfestival.com/ ) spanning the three days of the festival. The number of artists displaying their crafts was equally impressive. The number of mediums represented would be too long of a list for this review, so I'll direct you to this URL - http://www.deepellumartsfestival.com/art?id=48 Decent variety of eats and drinks too, in addition to Deep Ellum's usual array of eateries. The Food list is here: http://www.deepellumartsfestival.com/taste It was one of the more eclectic festivals I have been to and was very enjoyable. Oh, and thank you M&Ms for letting me try the three new flavors: Coffee Nut, Honey Nut and Chili Nut. My fav flavor was (surprisingly) the Honey Nut, as it gave me a "Crème brûlée" vibe. Chili was not hot enough, not unique enough, for me. Coffee was not pronounced enough. Bottom line: I hope to visit again next year!

My second time coming to this event was even more excellent, even though it wasn't the same without my girl, but I really enjoyed my time here. I wish the parking lot wasn't so pricey for what it is but I got the opportunity to not only went to the art festival but I explored further in Deep Ellum the entire day. But you guys, you cannot miss out this yummy gem that I always enjoy eating every single time I have an opportunity. Crepe Crazy from Austin, Texas which is operated and owned by Deaf members. And their selection of crepes on the menu is fantastic. I got the Dulce De Leche Turtle. The crepe was so soft and buttery while the sweetness of bananas blended with the sugary of caramel spread and topped with a rich chocolate sauce made every bite so lovely. So worth to get it every they stop by in Dallas or when I stop by in Austin vice versa. I didn't do this last year but this time, I was more focusing on all the art pieces I could see. I asked the artists questions then I gather their info. It was really inspiring to gain knowledge about these pieces I saw. I hope later on when I have enough money, I'll be able to purchase the items I want to get. Just lovely.

Fun, FREE, and dog friendly. They have tons of art vendors, food, live music, and interesting things to look at. Almost everything is super expensive, but it's still fun to look at. There is street parking (meters) or parking lots ($5 all day).

What an awesome, funky arts festival in the heart of Deep Ellum! This was my first time going; Jon G. and I definitely plan on going every year from now on! There are tons of vendors. Food, art in all forms, beer, live music, poetry slam and spoken word, any and everything you can think of! I have always been a big fan of up-cycling and there was tons of gorgeous, up-cycled, functional!, pieces! I especially loved the SteamPunk inspired lighting fixtures and the carved shed antlers repurposed into jewelry, hair pieces, even guitar picks! All food and beverages are purchased using a Ticket system. It's $1 a ticket, $10 for a strip of 10. Food was typically about 7-12 tickets per entree. Our beers were 6 tickets a pop. Make sure to get enough tickets the first time to prevent you from having to run back and forth to the purchase booths. Lots of love art happening everywhere. The love dumpster painting was especially neat! This festival is kick ass and I can't wait to come back!

Been to this fest the past two years. The only complaint I have is not knowing about it sooner! There are so many talented artists and musicians...and it's free! If you don't like crowds it can get a little cramped. We normally take the Dart because parking looks horrible.

    Keep calm..

I have always loved Fort Worth's Main Street Festival, but now I'm in love with Deep Ellum Arts Festival. I was really impressed with the creativity in each artist's booth. Each booth had something unique and different. From jewelry, glass blown, photography, paintings, hand crafted items for your home, purses, hand bags, and so much more. I entered to win a free burlesque class! Woot! Lol. Then, of course you got folks trying to convert you to DirectTV, or sell you a new bath tub. On the festival's website, it tells you that it's not really for kids. They aren't responsible for what they see. Made me nervous. Like what will they see? People getting it on in the corner? No.. it wasn't even bad at all. There were plenty of kids and my kids enjoyed it. The street musicians were pretty good. To get anything at a food vendor, you will have to buy coupons. $10 gets you 10 coupons, I believe. We got $20 worth and I was hoping to get something good, but the husband and kids wasted on two strawberry lemonades and a pretzel. Okay, I wouldn't say wasted, but it wouldn't have been my first choice. I was eying the blue crab cucumber salad, but in the end we didn't have enough coupons. Lol. Oh well. Oh, and then there was the candy apples. We got a M&M candy apple. My kids never had one before and loved it. Even though I got sunburned, next year I will return :P.

I am glad I waited 3 years to write this review. This…read morefestival is getting worse and worse and we won't return next year. We are lucky we live close by so we always bike here, so at least we can beat the traffic and the horrific price for parking. First year they ran out of gyros, no joke!!! Second year, no baklava sundae , ran out. This year, not enough that the prices skyrocketed, some vendors didn't even make an effort to print new menus, they literally just crossed prices and put whatever they wanted. Or, they wanted to go with the last year price but seeing all other vendors increased theirs... hmmmm ,, yeah !! Us too! We tried the gyro, no flavor, mediocre at best, so expensive , $12 for just the pita and the meat. No side, and they all wrapped up on trays, God knows how long they stay there. Lamb sliders and fries was our next choice, nothing special there either. Again, store bought slider buns and not enough meat, not tasty, fries also stay under a heat lamp, the frozen type of course. Like can you guys make some effort at least??? Fast paced, long lines, order, pay, GET OUT!!! We were not impressed at all. Best thing was the baklava sundae for sure. So... bye bye OPA! Greek festival. We had enough of your traps.
