We are always amazed at the costumes and makeup and the hospitality of the actors. They come out to visit with the audience after the show and it is neat to see them in their get ups in the lobby with Norma lighting and the contrast with colors of the outside world. I definitely recommend this for a different evening out on a date or with friends, especially if you are a fan of film noir.

I had my first visit to the Majestic Theatre last weekend for hte Moonchild concert. This is a very…read morenice and historic theater. The seats were surpirisingly more comfortable than I expected, although the legroom was a little tight for my long legs. For reference, I'm 5'9 1/2". The acoustics were excellent! I liked that there were drinks and food options available, and that drinks could be brought into the theater. That's rare. My only complaint, which may not be the fault of the Majestic, was that the lead singer's voice was drowned out by the instruments. To be fair, Amber's (the lead singer) voice is very sweet and soft. The instruments of the band sounded great and were very crisp and clear, which was a testament to the sound system and acoustics in the room, but they overpowered the lead singer. The lighting on the stage was also very good. In the basement of the theater, there are vintage artifacts from the theater, and details about the history of the items and the theater. This is very nice and a great way to preserve and teach the history of the Majestic for generations to come. For parking, there's a nearby outdoor parking lot down the street but the cost is $30 to park. I would definitely return to the Majestic for a concert!

I visited Waters Edge with my family this past weekend before we went to a movie at the Drafthouse…read more(just across the parking lot), and we had a good time! Waters Edge is a winery and a bistro - so you can come for drinks or a meal or both. We were told that they make all of the wines on their menu, of which there are dozens of wines on their menu. I've been to a few urban wineries before, and it's an interesting concept. Waters Edge buys grape must (crushed grapes) from around the world and then craft and bottle wines made from that must at their locations (this Dallas location is one of 15 across the country). Wanting to try a few of their wines, the four of us shared two flights of five wines each. We tried the Tour of Armenia and Alec's Flight (a rotating selection of wines by their winemaker). Did I like every wine? No. But I thought most of them were pretty good. Personally, I'm not sure they need to make this many wines; I'll always prefer a business that does ten things well than fifty things fine (the Cheesecake Factory rule). But most of the wines were pretty nice (of the 10 I tried, I wouldn't drink 3 or 4 but wouldn't mind drinking the rest again). I appreciated that many of their wines are Armenian style, because I haven't had much opportunity to try Armenian wines. We also ordered a few snacks - they have a full food menu. We shared their Deviled Egg of the Month (2 eggs - 4 halves) and their Cheese is Life Board (two cheeses, hot honey, giardiniera, and crispy flatbread), which were both good snacks. They've been open just under a year, but the place doesn't feel quite lived in yet. The dining room has a large room divider in it, set up like a bookshelf. It has books and card/trivia games about wine and more. But many of these items were still wrapped in plastic, making it feel a little impersonal. The service was good, and it's a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours! The food we had was pretty good. The wines in my opinion are just okay - probably not the spot to take a wine snob on a date. But they have a large variety of wines, so you're likely to find one or many that you like. Not a bad place to spend some time if you're in the neighborhood!

Unfortunately one of the security guards working was extremely rude, they just continuously yelled "keep walking". There were no instructions on people with bag go here, people without bags go here, so it just seemed like the line was going one by one. Then one of the people in my group had to stop at the table to get their bag inspected and I was trying to stick with our group as to not get lost and like I said there were no instructions given to go a specific place so I was waiting behind them and one of the security guards yelled in my face to "keep walking" and looked at me like I was an idiot for not reading his mind and figuring out what he wanted me to do. All the other security guards were very nice and had CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS for what to do so idk if this guy missed the memo but I think that situation could have been handled a lot better without having to scream at people who are trying to figure out what to do and where to go.

A few different bars - lobby or just inside the theater to keep you hydrated. Parking can be easy on Greenville in certain places if you know where to look although as new restaurants are opening nearby I'm gonna lose my go-to parking. An outsider from the area might not be aware that the City of Garland has an Arts center in its…read moreold downtown. There are musicals and plays put on in this beautiful theater! However, I was here for a more somber score. I was here with a few hundred to learn of the latest trends in Storm Spotting and weather RADAR analysis put on by local amateur radio clubs, the City of Garland and the Ft Worth Office of the National Weather Service. Some in my group would argue that severe weather systems are works of art as in their violence can be awe inspiring sights which are sometimes captured by camera. Of course there are also many photos of destruction after really bad storms. The center has clean restrooms, space for vendors to set up tables in the lobby and room for food trucks outside. The seating is very comfortable and was able to keep me happy for the full day of information presented to help keep our communities and us spotters safe.
