First time at this park and it's beautiful! Even though the park was pretty crowded, I never felt like there were too many people. Plenty of public spaces for picnics, etc. Henrico parks & rec were setting up for an earth day celebration so it seems like a great place to get together and celebrate. I love it here. Over 3 miles of paved trails. Love to take my kid here in his stroller, walk the trails, take a break and let him play at the playground, then back in the stroller and continue our walk. The employees here are really kind! I sent an email to them to see if they could clear out the trails because it was getting too much debris on it and it was hard to push the stroller over the debris. I got an email immediately saying yes of course and went 2 days later and trails were clear! Lots of space and things to do from the playground, fishing, basketball and tons of picnic tables. There is an open grass space for you to just lay out. Our happy place. read more

The park has great amenities for picnics for birthdays or family gatherings. My son loves the big playground at the very back. Can't forget about the skate/bike park and all the soccer fields. Plenty of trails to do your walking or running or even taking your furry friend out. Great place to let toddlers explore nature. read more

I LOVE this park. It is filled with both paved trails, and more natural foot/bike trails. There are 2 ponds stocked with fish. There have been recent upgrades to the playgrounds, and it appears that work is being done at the former Nature Pavillion area. There are three parking areas, as well there are facilities about. There are shelters to reserve should you chose to have a gathering, such as a birthday party, family reunion, or other event. In addition to soccer field and basketball court, there is a rather large grassy field which sometimes accommodates large group activities. I have personally taken one of my dogs there on a long lead, to play on leash and work on his recall. The only thing I wish for is that they would repave the pathways around the ponds and through the woods. I have tripped a few times while walking around the ponds, especially near the gazebo and playground on the Ridgfield Parkway side. Otherwise this is such an amazing location here in our west end community. I love the natural feel when walking back through the woods. read more

This whole park is awesome!! But this review is specific to the recreation center! What a lovely facility to party like it's 1999!! I went to a wedding reception here several years ago, and more recently, a 50th wedding anniversary event! It's pretty awesome! There's plenty of parking, a huge lobby, a sitting area with a fireplace, clean restrooms and a huge ballroom. There's also a kitchen area for your own pot luck or caterer! There's also a coat room and lots of little nooks for a DJ, gift tables, buffets and a cake table. The tables large, they sat 8 or 9 comfortably and chairs are were comfy too! You can certainly cover them for a more formal affair, but they were fine for this event! There was also a pill down projector screen for video presentations. You can bring your own decorations and snazz up the place! You'll have to contact Henrico County for the price particulars, as the costs vary depending on the hours and usage, but this place is much more of a bargain than a hotel for a similar experience. There's a no alcohol policy if that's a deal breaker, but I would definitely recommend this venue for any gathering!! Celebrate good times, c'mon!! read more

It is an amazing project and huge park. It has everything for all ages; playground, gym equipment, running paths etc

I love this park, which has gotten even lovelier with the renovation of its playground. And with that renovation, the park retained its huge collection of branches and logs that is the favorite play area for my child and my friends' children. They make the coolest constructions with them, and some of these large branches take several kids to move. It's a great group activity that encourages open play and cooperation. Answer to question if there is anything appropriate for infants: There are safety swings that snap together that you can swing a baby in safely. read more

This is a REALLY nice park! It's nestled in the woods, so you are surrounded by lots of nature and shade if you wish. There is a great full basketball court, lots or trails and a really nice playground for kids. It's kept up very well as far as trash cans being not full to over flowing and the equipment is well cared for. A nice big public rest room area at the top of the hill by the parking lot as well. Great urban park with some nice paved walking trails connecting different amenities. You can get off on a number of dirt side trails but to make it a longer walk through the trees but be aware these are the trails that the mountain bikers and trail runners use. I had no issues but can imagine that it can get pretty busy on weekends. read more

What a nice park! DH and I are still relatively new the area and found Deep Run Park using my trust Yelp app on my phone. Happily, it lived up to the high expectations we had after reading the reviews. The park offers a large number of paved and unpaved trails in a pretty wooded setting shared by walkers, walkers with (well-behaved) dogs, joggers, cyclists, parents teaching kids to ride bikes, etc. There are playgrounds, ball fields, fishing ponds, picnic areas, and a Pavilion for events! DH and I were able to give the dogs a good work-out and enjoy a mild winter's day. With so many trails of varying lengths, I never felt crowded. The dogs and I look forward to going back. read more

This 167 acre sanctuary has hilly and wooded trails that are great for a run, soccer fields, picnic shelters, a recreation center and two ponds that are actually stocked for fishing! There is also a Nature Pavilion where they have concerts and community events. I'm a lover of Byrd and Maymont, but it's great to have this far west end alternative. read more

I am late with this review and actually writing it after my third visit . Great park for walking dogs, running and biking. There's lots of paved trails and well marked off trail paths that can be taken as well throughout Deer Run making it east to do long or short distances possible. Everyone was friendly and the playground areas are nice and well maintained, tons of families there hanging out and having picnics; another reason to come here. There are several small lakes and streams, bridges and sitting areas for reading and relaxation. Plenty of parking too, this could become a regular jogging spot for me. I have not been inside the rec center, but it's a beautiful building with a very nice patio in the back. read more

Check I have been going to this park since High School and it's absolutely one of the best parks in Richmond, and bonus points for it being only 5 minutes from where I live. They have several different fields here for people who want to work out, toss a Frisbee, have a picnic etc. They also have a huge soccer field as well at the end of the park. This is the perfect place to people watch or just hangout with friends, old and new. This park is easy to navigate as far as walking to each field if you take the one main path but if you want to venture on to the side/smaller paths it may feel like a maze.. I like walking the smaller paths because you get to see all the other parts of the park that you wouldn't see if you were going the main way. This park is well maintained and I have never seen too much trash on the ground, if any. There's plenty of parking at each different lot. There's an Indoor Recreation Center right in the middle of the park but I have never actually been inside; it looks nice. You can ride your mountain bike here as well as go trail running if you're into those kind of things. I will occasionally come here with some friends after the "rush hour" of kids have had their fill on the playground and we will just play around and rekindle our love for playgrounds. The ONLY downside is that there is only one very small shared entrance/exit for vehicles to this park and it can get congested easily on nice days. Love this park!! I bring my dog here on a weekly basis. I always feel safe, I can stay on a paved trail if needed or walk on some trails (not paved) through the woods. There are really awesome playgrounds, soccer fields, and geocaches in the area! Highly recommend. read more

This is an awesome park. When I used to live nearby, my dog and I would walk into the park through one of the back trails. I like how this park has some overgrown portions as well as the manicured traditional park look. It's almost like two parks in one. The ponds here are very relaxing to walk around and there never seems to be overcrowding here. Parking is not too bad as if you keep driving into the park you almost always find a space. read more

I've been here several times over the years. From the perspective of a distance runner, it's a great place to get in a short run or hike, but when I wanna go longer than a few miles I generally end up running through one of the adjacent neighborhoods to add distance. I appreciate that the park offers both paved and natural surface trails. And there are some pretty challenging hills! The playground and picnic facilities are also very nice here, and the pond in the middle of the park makes for a nice focal point. This and Dorey Park are the two biggest and nicest parks in the Henrico system, but fall short of other municipal parks in the region, such as the James River Park System (which includes Belle Isle and Pony Pasture) in the City of Richmond and Rockwood Park and Henricus Park in Chesterfield Co. read more

So, this park is amazing...and I've only been there once. There is actually an entire section that I did not get to explore. I ended up at the area with the fountains and a basketball court. I was quite impressed with all the seating areas. Also, it has a lot shade. I wanted to know if this was a good option for a quick run when I need a change of scenery. Initially, I thought it was kind of small, but then I drove around after my run and it is quite a large park. I'm looking forward to going back...even if it's just to sit on a bench and chill. read more

DRP was at one time beautiful and well maintained. Obviously, the county does not have funds to continue to properly maintain. The trash cans are always full, dog waste stations are full, trails are no longer kept up. The scouts had week long camp again this year. You would think they would have park cleanup as part of their program. They usually leave the place worse than it was...including hooks and lines in trees. Deep Run Park is one of my favorite parks in the Richmond area. I work out and play basketball at the park from time to time. Deep Run Park has some really nice running trails. The running trails are shaded and the scenery is beautiful. There's a small lake in the middle of Deep Run Park. You can run around the lake. The park has different trails you can pick to run. On the side of the trails, you will find pull up and workout bars. There's one full size outside basketball court with a couple of benches. People are usually playing pickup basketball games when it's hot out. Also, Deep Run Park has a really nice soccer field. There's multiple things for kids to do. Deep Run Park has bathrooms and water fountains around the park. The Henrico Recreation Center is located on the park. The recreation center has an inside basketball court and workout area. You will find plenty of parking located around the park. If you want a good relaxing park for working out, look no further. Deep Run Park is the perfect park to stay in shape or relax! read more

Great park if you want a good outdoor workout in the West End. The fitness trail is fun but lacking a lot of exercise stations found at other parks. If you couple the stations with the 2.5 mile run around the entire park, it makes for a great workout. There's also great bike trails that go deep into the woods for a ~3 mile bumpy, hilly ride. read more

I came here for an afternoon walk with a friend and loved it. The trails are excellent and very easy to navigate. We parked but the Rec center and there was plenty of parking. I loved how active and vibrant it was on a random Wednesday afternoon. There were many families and active people walking, running and kids on the playground. I think my friend and I got mixed up on a cross country course for kids but they weren't bothered and just ran around us. I plan to go back to experience the lakes and scenery with my husband and maybe do a few weekend runs. Glad to find this gem! read more
