Playground by the soccer fields
Kat M.

The park has great amenities for picnics for birthdays or family gatherings. My son loves the big playground at the very back. Can't forget about the skate/bike park and all the soccer fields. Plenty of trails to do your walking or running or even taking your furry friend out. Great place to let toddlers explore nature.

I LOVE this park. It is filled with both paved trails, and more natural foot/bike trails. There are 2 ponds stocked with fish. There have been recent upgrades to the playgrounds, and it appears that work is being done at the former Nature Pavillion area. There are three parking areas, as well there are facilities about. There are shelters to reserve should you chose to have a gathering, such as a birthday party, family reunion, or other event. In addition to soccer field and basketball court, there is a rather large grassy field which sometimes accommodates large group activities. I have personally taken one of my dogs there on a long lead, to play on leash and work on his recall. The only thing I wish for is that they would repave the pathways around the ponds and through the woods. I have tripped a few times while walking around the ponds, especially near the gazebo and playground on the Ridgfield Parkway side. Otherwise this is such an amazing location here in our west end community. I love the natural feel when walking back through the woods.

Beautiful multi-level facility.

This whole park is awesome!! But this review is specific to the recreation center! What a lovely facility to party like it's 1999!! I went to a wedding reception here several years ago, and more recently, a 50th wedding anniversary event! It's pretty awesome! There's plenty of parking, a huge lobby, a sitting area with a fireplace, clean restrooms and a huge ballroom. There's also a kitchen area for your own pot luck or caterer! There's also a coat room and lots of little nooks for a DJ, gift tables, buffets and a cake table. The tables large, they sat 8 or 9 comfortably and chairs are were comfy too! You can certainly cover them for a more formal affair, but they were fine for this event! There was also a pill down projector screen for video presentations. You can bring your own decorations and snazz up the place! You'll have to contact Henrico County for the price particulars, as the costs vary depending on the hours and usage, but this place is much more of a bargain than a hotel for a similar experience. There's a no alcohol policy if that's a deal breaker, but I would definitely recommend this venue for any gathering!! Celebrate good times, c'mon!!

This is a REALLY nice park! It's nestled in the woods, so you are surrounded by lots of nature and shade if you wish. There is a great full basketball court, lots or trails and a really nice playground for kids. It's kept up very well as far as trash cans being not full to over flowing and the equipment is well cared for. A nice big public rest room area at the top of the hill by the parking lot as well. Great place to let the kids run around or take the dog for a walk.

Great urban park with some nice paved walking trails connecting different amenities. You can get off on a number of dirt side trails but to make it a longer walk through the trees but be aware these are the trails that the mountain bikers and trail runners use. I had no issues but can imagine that it can get pretty busy on weekends.

I am late with this review and actually writing it after my third visit . Great park for walking dogs, running and biking. There's lots of paved trails and well marked off trail paths that can be taken as well throughout Deer Run making it east to do long or short distances possible. Everyone was friendly and the playground areas are nice and well maintained, tons of families there hanging out and having picnics; another reason to come here. There are several small lakes and streams, bridges and sitting areas for reading and relaxation. Plenty of parking too, this could become a regular jogging spot for me. I have not been inside the rec center, but it's a beautiful building with a very nice patio in the back.

A nice place to walk around the water, stare at the birds, or go for a healthy run. Nice web of interconnected trails.

You are definitely barking up the right tree if you bring your furry friends to this dog park!!…read moreIt's super "pup"ular place for dog lovers! Today it was packed! I have a Goldendoodle Grand-puppy, Hampton, who loves romping around this grassy enclosed park. For safety and convenience, they have two separate fenced sections, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. Be sure to take note of the posted rules. There's a water station to refresh your pets after they are done frolicking and socializing with their playmates! Today there was a dog festival and people with their pooches came from all over town! There were several tables set up selling dog treats, handmade dog toys, t-shirts, baked goods and more. This, of course, made the barking lot crowded! They could definitely expand the parking! In the summer, pools are filled so your pups can cool off with a swim. For pooch lovers, this is a hound haven... but for me it was a bit too mutt-ch. I did, however, run into several friends who had their loyal canines with them so I had fun being the pup-arazzi! The rest of the park was full of families enjoying the other amenities at this park like the playground and picnic areas. The facilities were well maintained. Tails are wagging at this paw-some dog park where "man's" best friend can raise the woof! If your nose isn't used to doggie smells, it may be a little ruff! By the way, if you get directions from Yelp, it may lead you to a dead end near a gas station. Just stay on Pump Road and it's just by Broad St.

I've been to Urban Air on numerous occasions:Spring break, summer vacation, birthday parties, rainy…read moredays ect. At every occasion my kids have left happy and thrilled by the adventure they have had. Compared to competitors Urban Air ranks high on my list. Here is what we love: - Play Space: there is literally something for everyone. Trampolines, dodge ball, ropes course and laser tag! -seating: there is plenty of places for parents to sit while the kids get the zoomies out. They even have comfy massage chairs (at a cost) -cleanliness: this facility is very clean and well maintained! What I disliked - The noise: it is LOUD! I highly recommend noise cancelling headphones for anyone that is sensitive to sound. My ears physically hurt when I'm here so I always have headphones! -the check in process: it's cashless and done via kiosks. Regardless of the amount of times I've been here the kiosk never remembers my info and I always have to re enter it. -jump socks: you must have Urban Air socks to jump here! No exceptions. They will only honor socks with their branded logo. If you don't have them you have to buy them.

This is new to the area. I saw ads on meta for months promoting Urban Air…read more It was super crowded. I think that's mainly because it's new and it's spring break. Lines were all very long. I stood on the line for close to 20 minutes when I finally get up there, the cashier says I need to complete the waiver. I did have the waiver done before I arrived, but on their end my children's names didn't populate so the cashier says I need to stand on a different (long) line, complete the waiver again then get back on another long line to return to get to get wrist bands and socks. I expressed I didn't want to get back on the long line after standing there already. She looked at me with attitude and didn't even acknowledge what I was saying. This is when I'd normally leave a business but my kids were eager to participate. So I went on both long lines again just for admissions. Once inside tables were very dirty if empty. I went to the concession stand asked for spray to clean myself. The staff told me I needed to wait because he was making orders. I waited then I finally saw a janitor staff. He was actually very kind and helped me right away. (That's why I'm giving an extra star). Later my kids wanted to play the arcade games. I didn't realize the kiosk was on the arcade floor but I asked 4 different staff members where I can purchase the arcade card. None of them knew. They finally asked a supervisor and he directed me. Pros: spacious, they can host parties, food on site, zip line, different experience than most activity spaces in the area, custom packages with tier leveled access Cons: price not worth experience, socks which are mandatory are an extra expense, staff not well trained yet I think they will probably improve once they're established a bit longer, but for now it seems like they weren't prepared to open despite there being so many employees. I'll try again and I'll update my review.

Disclaimer up front. This place is dated and could use a facelift and you must bring your own…read morechairs. That said... The pool is huge and the water slides very fun and efficient (wait times are short). I took my granddaughter for a weekend swim and we both had a great time. The water slides are the bomb, especially for a local pool that is not part of a theme park. The pool area is large and even on a weekend we had plenty of room to swim and horse around. They allow beach balls and small pool toys. The pool offers fun for all age kids - the baby pool has mushrooms and slides and there is even a mid size slide for kids too old for the baby pool but not ready for the big slides. All of the lifeguards we encountered were smiling and friendly. The snack bar has a wide variety of ice cream, drinks, and unhealthy fried foods (fries, Snickers, Twinkies) and service was fast and efficient. The inside eating area has lots of tables but is very dark. Now for the things that need improvement: Bathrooms are dingy and old, but not unclean. The party deck wood is old and I would worry about splinters. They have nice areas with tables and umbrellas to eat, but NO poolside chairs. Come on! For $20 weekend admission they should have chairs lining the pool area. The parking lot needs paving and spot markers, and the outside needs better signage to find the entrance. Even with all these negatives, I have to give 4 stars because my granddaughter had a wonderful time (she can't wait to go back) and the other patrons seemed to be having fun as well.

As soon as our infant woke up, we all went in and requested a refund for charging our infant. She was not friendly at all and said, " I DID ASK FOR HEIGHT". She did give us a refund after we showed her that we actually did have an infant not 2 toddlers. The staff do not measure the kids. There is no sign or anything of 32 inches. The staff "eye balls" the height of children. Only giving two stars because the kids had fun. Besides that we will not be coming back. $20 is not worth going to a "family establishment " that isn't so friendly.
