My husband and I visited on May 22, 2026. The views from this second floor tasting room and patio are wonderful. While the patio isn't covered, there are a handful of umbrellas for the dozen or so tables. The staff were friendly and remembered where we were on the tasting journey. The wines were tasty - I focused on the reds while my husband tasted white and red. The 2023 Ganache was my favorite of the reds. We look forward to our next visit. read more

Went on a day trip with my wino tasting friends and had to stop by here. Not only is the wine delicious the views of the ocean are breathtaking and also very peaceful. We ordered the basic wine tasting and still delicious. I would recommend more umbrellas to cover us from the sun and actually be outside. We remained inside for much of the time but other than that, all good. read more

We visited this wine tasting room on 05/23/2026 at about noon. It was a lovely day, a bit overcast and the temperature was perfect. This tasting room has an outdoor deck on the Stearn's Wharf, with a great view of the water and the surrounding area. This outdoor deck is actually open to the public, so you don't have to buy wine -- but why wouldn't you? We were met by a very friendly person at the counter, who opened our tab and started us off with the first of our five tastings. You just had to make a quick trip up to the counter, to get your next one. It got progressively busier as the time went on; however, they were prepared with a second person as it got busier. Overall, this was a great afternoon. You can choose from an all red tasting, or a mixed tasting. We had one of each! I would definitely come back here again in the future. read more

I would say a good vibe for either a bachelorette party or a first date. To all my young men out there who don't know where to take a woman on a first date, this would be it. The music is super chill and the wine is incredible. Moderately priced I always say. We got the signature wine tasting package which came with 5 pours. We got here and there was a bachelorette party of about 15 people drinking and having a good time. They looked like they were just starting their evening here to get some drinks in. So the service can handle a crowd. It was clean. The vibe was right, the wine was good, And the service was impeccable. read more

We had an AMAZING time here over the weekend!! Thank you to Lindsay and her team for providing amazing service to us.. They have high quality wine which we experienced during the tasting. We had all ordered the flight. It included 3 white wines and 2 reds. The ladies explained each wine in detail. It was nice to take out time between each glass and enjoy the atmosphere. Such a beautiful wine tasting room at the end of the pier! We came right at Sunset and the view was gorgeous. They have such a cute vibe inside with plenty of seating for both small and large groups. You basically order your bottle of wine or you can do the tastings at the counter and then you're able to take your bottle of wine to one of the seating area areas or walk back-and-forth for your next tasting. Would definitely love to come back here for date night. read more

When ever i visit Santa Barbara i make sure to visit deep sea tasting room. the views are great, the wine is just perfect and well the place is just a vibe!! what more do you want ? As always a flight of tasting wines is the way to go ( well it has been for me recently) after that i make my selection. During the weekday you can find plenty parking in the harbor. read more

Wine by the Sea had a great atmosphere! Unlike most tasting rooms, you get to enjoy your wine with an ocean view. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, all first come, first served. We went with the signature tasting flight - $24 per person for five pours, about a glass and a half. It's more worth it if you can grab one of the outdoor edge seats for the full view. The service was great and the scenery made the experience even better! read more

Excellent views and ample patio seating make this spot a must-visit if you're in town! We truly enjoyed our afternoon sampling wines and enjoying the sunshine on the patio. The classic wine tasting list had a wide variety of wines in it, all of which tasted great! The servers were so friendly and we even had the free entertainment of a presumably drunk 60+ year old man jumping off the rail pictured here into the water for a nice long swim to shore. Not sure what his plans were there but the servers did a great job ignoring the scene he was hoping to cause and carrying on with business as usual. I really enjoyed this spot and being out on the pier, 10/10 recommend!! read more

Cute space that could be 1000xs better. Positives: it's on the water with a great view, patio space, good wine and very friendly service. Walking distance from the train which my friends and I took to Santa Barbara for a day trip. Unfortunately, there's only 2 tables with umbrellas out on the patio and they don't open the beautiful windows on the inside. That means if you are unfortunate enough to not get a seat with some covering on the patio you will be in the sun burning up on a hot summer day. Or.. if you sit inside to avoid the sun, it's still hot because there isn't a crosswind. I'd go back on a cooler overcast day but I'm really hoping maybe the covered outdoor seating and window situation can be improved upon. Also when you first walk in there's a good size room of just space where you can't drink wine in. Just feels like a missed opportunity but I'm sure there's a reason for it. read more

The wines were Decent. The space upstairs was cute with the beautiful View of the ocean, however, it was a bit cramped, and if you don't get there at a good time, and a busy day, you can expect to stand. If you have a Pooch with you, I recommend going at not so busy time or being prepared to grab the first table that opens up. Otherwise, very pet friendly, they even had treats that were free for dogs, and some water bowls that were available. read more

Amazing views!! The wine was wonderful. We got here when they first opened to get a seat outside and we are glad we did! What a great place to come by and relax and have few glasses of wine. The views are amazing and it's just such a chill place. We went yesterday on a Sunday and it was raining out so we sat inside and it's feels so homy. The selection of the wines is really good as well. The guy working was super nice and helpful he knew his stuff service was awesome. If your in the area this is the place to check out if you like wine and beautiful views. read more

First timer at Santa Barbara, went on a Frdiay afternoon, this place is located in Stearns Wharf towards the end of the boardwalk. This place wasn't hard to find. The area as you walk in was under renovation, and as you walk through to the bar, is a lounge area, couches, chairs, coffee table and their bar then a balcony with more seating accommodations if you want to sip some wine while enjoying the ocean view. Price was super affordable for a flight, majority of their wines are on the mild dry side but they taste so good! My favorite was their Rosè. Unfortunately, no food items at the time of our visit, but they offer a cheese platter to pair with your wine. We got their Valentines day promo and enjoyed our wine with chocolates! Super friendly staff, enjoyed being here. read more

Wonderful location for an afternoon of wine tasting. Located right on the pier, this tasting room is on the second floor with beautiful views of the ocean. There is no bad place to sit here, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside right at a window, and it was perfect to enjoy our wine while looking out over the water. While we weren't here for sunset, I imagine this would be a perfect spot for watching it. Great selection of wine. They have different flight options, and we chose their signature flight to get a variety of red, white, and rose. Lovely option to get to know their wines, and we found we loved their reds! Will definitely go for the red tasting flight next time. You can bring your own food and snacks here, so it's perfect for bringing some charcuterie to enjoy with your wine. They also allow dogs, which is always a major plus. The most enjoyable stop for a day on the pier - whether on a date, with some friends, or solo. read more

TLDR: Perfect for a casual afternoon right before sunset. Amazing pictures and view along with a relaxing sip of wine - the perfect combo for any small celebration. The staff were chill and helpful. :) - - - - - - Deep Sea Tasting Room is such an awesome, aesthetic experience. The ambiance is like being in a modern take of a cozy log cabin themed ship. The exterior is outdoors, and it overlooks the shore - perfect for sunrise and sunset photos on the waters. A variety of wines are available, and I'm sooo thankful they have flights available. I ordered the White Flight, which had in order (with amateur comments): 1) Seahorse - sweet and bold, but not too bitter. A perfect starter. 2) Seaturtle - less sweet and more acidic. Bold and better as you drink more or have water along with it to refresh the palate. 3) Seastar - slightly more bold, but less sweet. Hint of strawberry, though I *without offense* described this as strawberry flavored Propel but Wine Version 4) Helmet - a bit bitter / strong, not for me... :( 5) Duet - a nice, bold ending. The perfect amount of sweet while not being too strong, a good balance and finale Their optional cheese and crackers ($20) were also nice to have along with their wines. I particularly enjoyed their dates, fig jam, and manchego cheese. I highly recommend this to be split amongst 2-3 people... with four, it was barely enough to get through four flights. read more

The view and wine here are very good, but I'm giving this three stars due to the process and policies, which turned a beautiful, relaxing afternoon into an annoying chore. It was another lucky 75° Santa Barbara "winter" day and this wine bar is located right on Stearns Wharf... On the second floor, with an amazing, unobstructed view of the mountains and ocean. I went up to the counter to purchase the five flight red tasting, the girl friendly and bubbly, gave me a small, measured pour, 1oz? Very small. and told me to come back when I was ready for the next one. I didn't think anything of it and I went outside, had a sip, started to enjoy the beauty of the day. quickly realized, I'd need to go back inside number of times in order to continue to get the next glass... And the next... And the next... Interrupting the vibe. So I went I'm and asked the girl for all the times at once and she said... no I thought that was strange so I asked her if there was a law prohibiting her all of the ones at once and she said no. They just would run out of glasses. She pointed me to the area right next to her at the bar... which had eell over 200 glasses sitting there as there was nobody but two people in the bar, which had maybe 25 tables. I thought this was strange and I asked her. There's nobody here. You're not going to run out of the glasses. She said that if she did it for me she'd have to do it for everybody else here. I pointed out there were two other people here, but she just walked away. Although it might seem like a fairly minor issue, $30 for 5 sips of wine is pretty steep. I would recommend to management that rather than tell their customers to be their own waiters, they buy a few more glasses. Maybe 1000 glasses will be enough to serve 3 people next time. read more

We've been to Deep Sea twice and both times, we had nice experiences. Wine tasting with the best view in SB! Our server was super friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the Chardonnay and red blend the best and bought a couple bottles to enjoy at home with friends. The prices are fair. I spilled some red wine and the server gave me a cloth with stain remover that saved my blouse and coat....major props for the helpfulness of the staff. Can't wait to go back and enjoy more wine and the view!! read more

Deep Sea Tasting is really about the views and customer service. Being located on the pier in Santa Barbara with 360 views of mountain, ocean, and city; there really isn't a bad thing to say. Even if it is cold, there is enough space inside to relax with a glass and just stare off into the sea or people watch as people check out the pier. The wine is ok. It isn't the best in town although they do have some Conway wine offerings that tend to be of higher quality. Grab a bottle of those and it is a perfect afternoon with friends or just by yourself! read more

While driving along the coast, my partner and I stumbled upon this gem--Deep Sea Tasting Room on the Santa Barbara Wharf--and we're so glad we did! The view alone is worth the stop, but what made the experience truly special was Abby, who welcomed us with such warmth and charm. She not only accommodated us with ease but gave us great recommendations. I normally don't gravitate toward Chardonnay, but Abby encouraged us to try one--and I was pleasantly surprised! It was perfectly balanced: not too sweet, not too dry, just delicious. Ended up ordering a full- A new favorite, thanks to her! This tasting room has it all: ocean views, city views, fantastic wines, and a memorable vibe. Thank you, Abby, for helping us step out of our comfort zone and making this visit unforgettable. Since we love wine tasting and the beach so much this was a perfect place for us. We enjoyed the views and the wine very much. We got a nice cold bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and took a short break on the outside patio area. The service was great and the ambience was wonderful. I highly recommend coming here. read more

Wine tasting with the ocean views?! Yes, please. Santa Barbara pier is pretty cool, filled with lots of souvenir shops, restaurants, candy shops and ect... Moreover there is a wine bar on the second floor that offers spectacular views of the coastline and the beach. You definitely pay premium price for a location. The cost was $35 for 2 glasses of wine, it honestly cheaper to just get a bottle. Small glasses and weak pours, otherwise its a beautiful place with indoor and outdoor seating patio. read more

This was our last stop on a day of winetasting around town. Not surprisingly it was our favorite spot, it probably had something to do with the SEVERAL glasses of wine we had getting here, and the spectacular view/sunset you get from being on the pier. We got friendly/knowledgeable service from Gillian who did a nice job explaining our white/red wine flight. Guests at Deep Sea Tasting Room will be rewarded with fabulous views of the Pacific from the 2nd floor of Deep Sea's building, which is located on Stearns Wharf. It's really tough to beat the experience of wine tasting on their outside patio - sitting at a table, sipping wine while looking out over the ocean and watching kayakers, paddle boarders, and people in general. Deep Sea doesn't take reservations; all seating is first come, first serve so you might end up sitting inside, which is still lovely. This was a great end to a fun day of wine tasting. read more

I've only come here twice to enjoy a glass of Rosé & immerse in the amazing views the top deck offers. The service is always great, pretty quick. It gets full but they have 2 decks and plenty of seating inside. I only gave it 4 stars because their wine selection is limited. read more

Stunning location. Located at the end of the wharf, it is on the left hand side as you get towards the end. There is both indoor and outdoor seating but highly recommend outdoors. You would be wise to bring a hat as well. The views are amazing. Just sitting here will put you in a state of relaxation. As of this writing, you can get a flight for about $20 or so. When I was there the pours were generous and I believe there were about six different wines to try out. I'll be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the wines, but they were all drinkable. Service was attentive and friendly, how could you be in a bad mood in this establishment really? Will be back for sure! read more

History

Established in 2007.

The Conway family includes Chris and Ann Conway and their five children, Gareth, John, Sally, Tom and Gillian. All seven of us share ownership in Conway Family Wines, producer of Deep Sea and Rancho Arroyo Grande wines. In addition to our passion for wine, we share a love of the arts, the wilderness and the ocean, our vineyards and sharing our wine with others. Some of us surf, some of us sail, all of us are certified open water scuba divers. We work hard, and play hard too! We are committed to protecting and preserving the land and wildlife of the beautiful and historic Rancho Arroyo Grande property. We believe in sustainable agricultural and vineyard practices. We believe that the success of our winery is dependent on the passion and dedication of the talented people who have joined us in our commitment to produce outstanding wines.

Our estate vineyards are at Rancho Arroyo Grande in California's Central Coast - but our family is from Santa Barbara and we couldn't be happier to open our very first tasting room in our home town. We went in specifically for their M5 and Riviera Rose, but discovered their extensive selection of other varietals and vintages. It was chilly so she tried to light the heat lamp at my request but both that one and the replacement did not work. The replacement actually had the propane disconnected so I assume someone knew that tank needed to be changed out but didn't do it. The other tables from the large party were full of wine glasses and a half eaten pizza. Those sat there for over an hour, and we watched several groups of people come but leave without being seated because no server was available yo seat them and the only open table hadn't been cleared. When it was finally cleared, one guest at a near by table commented that the pizza shouldn't go to waste. The girl who cleared the table initially carried it inside but came right back out with it and served it to that guest whose kid ate it. I'm all for not wasting food and if the guest had gotten up and grabbed the pizza himself, that would be one thing... but to serve old food that had been sitting out for a long time to a guest is a no no for a business. We otherwise enjoyed most of the wines in our tasting flight. Would've given 5 stars if service had been more timely, tables cleared and old food not served up.

To make matters worse, we were provided with plastic knives to cut the cheese ourselves, which was incredibly difficult and frustrating. I have never encountered a cheese board served this way at any establishment. I really wanted to enjoy this visit, and I want to give credit to the other waitresses who were working that day--they were great and were the only saving grace of the experience. However, the lack of basic service and the bizarre presentation of the food made this a trip I wouldn't recommend

In June 2016, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival entered a new era with the acquisition of this beloved theatre. Love this place! They have an amazing space, gorgeous view of the ocean (the only tasting room on the pier), and tasty wines! They have a delicious and extremely affordable rose, and I am crazy about their red blend and pinot noir. The winery is family owned and run and every time I'm in they're always incredibly warm. One of my absolute favorite things to do in SB is rent a kayak/stand up paddle board from the harbor, paddle over to the pier, tie up at the ladder just below deep sea, climb up for a tasting, and then climb down and paddle back. A great experience. Wasn't sure how it would be given last minute decision. However, staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The experience of being on Stearn's Wharf and looking out on the ocean at sunset was really awesome. Didn't sit on the outer patio because of windy but great views to be had inside the tasting room as well. If you are into wine tasting don't miss this place. Wonderful, wonderful wonderful. Great staff, great wine, and a killer view. Love how casual and sweet this place is, with dogs on the patio, and hip families enjoying the large selection of family owned wines. Great wine offering. Amazing service. Excellent views of the ocean. Live music. The place is known to be touristy so we scheduled a Tuesday afternoon visit which allowed us to enjoy minimal crowds, great outdoor seating, and breathtaking views of the ocean and sky. The charcuterie and cheese platters are perfect for the wine. Would definitely be coming back. read more

Beautiful views! Small tasting room with indoor/outdoor seating. Did the introductory tasting for $10, it included 3 red and 3 white. Nice because they poured and then let you do your thing until you were ready for your next one. Unfortunately I did not care for any of the wines. read more

Absolutely love this location. House-labeled wine has gone downhill a bit since they lost the winery in bankruptcy back in 2017, but that's more than made up for by the friendly staff and pleasant vibes on the wharf. Check it out if you're in town. read more

It is a great area, and boy does it get busy on the weekends. There are plenty of places to sit both indoors and outdoors. Because we had a reservation, they had reserved a table for us outdoors. Although, we ended up finding a different place inside, which was not a problem for them. We did a wine tasting, and we had one rose and three reds. The choices were great, and we enjoyed them thoroughly. We did end up buying two bottles of the rose, which did waive the tasting for one of us. We were assisted today by Kat, and she was such a pleasure. She explained each of the wines to us, and went above and beyond in helping us with other things as well. A great time, and we would definitely return again in the future.

Let's face it - there are a LOT of wine options in the area ranging from some of the best the world…read morehas to offer (LITERALLY) to just plain bad. Tyler X Lieu Dit is neither of those things. Before we get to the wine itself, let's go over something good, and something not so good... The good: The ambiance. It's nice and relaxing in here. The bad: They charge $35 for a tasting, and give the teeniest-tiniest tasting I've ever experienced. Stingy AF. The pourer seemed really nice too... I was so surprised with the pour sizes. And (not to toot my own horn) I'm not a wine novice. We've done a LOT of tasting - and I've never come across such stingy pours. They even knew that my wife and I got one of each of their tastings so we could share and try all the wines... and just no love on the pour side. So $70 for a pair of really weak tasting. Now the wine itself... Meh... The 2019 Lieu Dit Chenin Blanc was just bad... there were three stand-outs and the rest weren't bad, but also nothing to write home about. The three stands outs were the Tyler Chardonnay which came far from knocking our socks off, but was good stuff. And the two killer bottles were the Tyler Pinot Noir, Nentrock Vineyard (not the Estate - which was actually pretty good. Again... good quality, but nothing to write home about) and the Tyler Cabernet Sauvignon. Those two bottle were fantastic! The bummer is, they're just not worth the price point. Those two bottles are $85 and $70 respectively. They were great... but not $85 great. Just a bummer the price point didn't match the wine. If they were a $45 bottle, we would have left with both of them I think. We were also kind of bummed because we have been in a big Cab Fran phases lately, and they have two types, and neither were very good. One better than the other... but just not in the same ballpark as the Cab Franc's we've had lately (like at Andrew Murray, Carhartt, Holus Bolus etc.). In closing, if you don't have much time in Santa Barbara, I wouldn't slot this into your itinerary... but if you live in town and want to try something different, definitely check it out. Maybe get a glass of the Netcok Vineyard Pinot or the Cab and enjoy the atmosphere. Again... this isn't BAD wine by any stretch. It's good (mostly)... It's just in a an ultra competitive region and the price point is super high for what it is.
