One star is because the salon is clean and well kept, everyone is kind and I was offered a mimosa and a snack. One star is because my bad experience is partially my mistake. I came to this salon because they advertised curly cuts. In my mind, I made an assumption that if a salon is advertising curly cuts that means that they have formal training with DevaCut or Rezo. Or really any other formal training that's offered for curly hair. I spent the last 3 months keeping my hair curly for the first time in my life and avoiding heat only to throw it all down the drain. I left with a really boxy looking cut it wasn't round. I also had to ask to cut the back more because it was really long and looking like a mullet. I'm assuming looking back that she was trying to style my hair like her other clients who have looser curls and want a different look than I did. Every curly cut is different, that's why formal training is needed. Long story short my hair looked bad curly, my family kept telling me it doesn't look like me. I straightened my hair for the first time in 3 months to see if it looked better that way and it looked even worse. It was long and stringy. Some long pieces and some short pieces. The hair underneath my head was very short and one side of my head had longer layers. From the photos you can see there's a patch of hair missing from the back. I had to go on vacation and get an emergency cut from my regular stylist who doesn't do curly cuts but she's a life saver. Unfortunately because of the really short hair underneath and how uneven it was she had to cut all my length just so my hair could be even. So sadly Ive spend the last 2 weeks thinking about what the hell Im going to do to my hair so I don't feel ugly while it grows out. Ive never felt like this before. My best advice, please please please verify that you're getting a curly cut with someone who has formal training. Ask for it. I'm honestly gutted over this. Paid $200 for the cut, plus the cost of my emergency cut. Note: They offered to fix it but I did not feel comfortable with it after I realized how bad it looked and the lack of formal training. Miette was fabulous and so kind. I went in for a root touch up as I am not a natural blonde. I was showing her pictures of what I wanted and trying to explain what I usually get done as I am new to the area. She was so helpful in answering all of my questions so that we could achieve the result I wanted. I ended up getting highlights and lowlights and she matches the color perfectly! RUNNNN do NOT book an appointment for this salon you will be so disappointed before even setting foot! I would never recommend someone to go to this salon ever! I booked this appointment for my son for his up and coming bday TWO WEEKS ago. He was so excited to have someone new do his hair. We took the day off from school to make it a whole day event. I was contacted but the disgusted JC hair Salon "manager" I would not call her that but more so of a person that answers the phone at a cheap motel that's the vibe. She texted me that the app. had to be cancelled because the person cutting my sons hair was sick. Fine. Ok I'm not happy about it but whatever it happens. She tells me someone else is available so I continue to text and she takes forever to answer me. I'm already super inconvenience regardless if it was intended to or not and she can't even respond to a text? She should have called me out of curtsey. So I call her and apparently she doesn't like my tone. But not nearly as much as I don't like hers and she proceeds to tell me all the wrong things I did during book my sons appointment online. Umm this is not the time for that just get my son in to see someone. Shes more concerned about everything else aside from the customer. Wait It gets better... She has the audacity to TEXT me " After talking with Jeannette, she has decided that this may not be the best fit for you and your son. I'll cancel the appointment." Could you imagine like what kind of business plays these games? We already don't have a lot of curly hair specialist in Connecticut which is why I would always go to New York. And the ones that we do have do this to little boys on there up and coming bday. Now to tell my son that his appointment won't happen for his bday. I moved to CT from NY and needed a new place to get my hair cut so I went to deeply rooted and I loved it! I never really experiment with my hair mainly because nothing has ever been explained to me lol! Jessica cut and styled my hair and the girls were so nice, taking the time to explain and recommend products and what to do with my hair. I had my first haircut at Deeply Rooted today. Jeanette was incredible. I have curly hair and have been to other salons that "specialize" in curly hair, but they have nothing on this salon! Jeanette took time to ask me about my hair care routine, discuss style and color, and then gave me a haircut that is, by far, the best I've had in ages. She gave tips on product use and diffusing the hair to maintain the curls. I was blown away! I am not young and have had MANY haircuts over the years by different folks, and dealing with curls takes talent. Jeanette has that expertise. The salon is inviting and immaculate. Very unpleasant experience. Her salon is a one unit rental among a lot of other rentals. With the door shut, it's very private and it's just the two of you in there which is nice. While she was coloring and highlighting my hair, both the bleach and dye ended up on my new(ish) $2000 purse! The room is small, but my belongings were out of the way on a little stand intended for personal items. I noticed the damage right before I went to pay and showed her. She laughed it off saying I should see her clothes, purses, etc. because she gets dye everywhere. She didn't even offer a discount or to fix it! I'm not one to make a scene and I felt awkward. Once I got home, I sent her a text asking what we can do as the purse was a total loss. She became very cold and blocked me on social media. Thankfully she actually submitted a claim through her insurance company as I had requested and I was compensated. My issue is that it was handled so poorly and immaturely.
