The clerk listened and was attentive and understanding. As we left, another person (may have been the owner) stopped us and asked us about our experience. He was so kind and understanding....I would NEVER went back, but way the 2 men responded made a difference and inspired me to give this business as many stars as i could. The property is massive, with a skeet and trap range, rifle ranges up to 100 yards, a fishing pond, hunting trails, and plenty of spots to shoot pistol. The owners are no muss, no fuss and prefer to keep it a local good-ol-boys network... not many women frequent this place. It's far from civilization, but worth the trip for the privacy and freedom to shoot just about anything you want to shoot and at distances you can't find at city ranges. I'm here at least twice a week and I love this place. They do not have what I call "Range Nazis" that are overbearing and invade your personal space while you're trying to shoot. This place wants everyone to be safe and have fun. They are very accommodating and easy going. It's not the most modern place, but it is the perfect place for shooters to go that don't want to be treated like dummies, like they do at these newer places. After paying for 4 consecutive months up till March 2025, the owner once stated that I hadn't paid since Dec 2025. Looking back now, it obvious they had no idea what was going on with their memberships. Im glad I printed my receipts & have proof of payments. As of today 5-12-2025..... my debit card is pending a monthly charge from Hammer Down Range. This payment will be disputed & stopped...I may also pursue theft charges for their ignorance and disregard for us paying customers. If anything they owe all their members a refund, We dont owe Hammer Down anything.

They even offered to extend the time of the event as long as well needed to allow everyone to finish the course. I had a firearm I purchased online shipped to these guys because it's the closest FFL to my house. I get in there and I get absolutely grilled about what I purchased, like beyond small talk and gun banter to the point where it felt like an interrogation. Another time I had a guy call my ID fake when I went to shoot at the range? I'm a 30 year old man by the way. Another time I went in to get a gun appraised to possibly sell it to them, apparently only one person is able to do that? I was standing there waiting for a literal hour and a half before I asked for my gun back and left. Just don't really feel welcome here. I've had better experiences at retail gun ranges. I think for new comers to firearms to come here, it would be a very intimidating experience.

The course was thorough and…read moreinformative, he made absolutely certain everyone in our group was comfortable for shooting and ready for our written test at the end of the course. He made us shoot with both hands, one hand, and with one hand on our non-dominant hand as well to make sure we were prepared for any situation. Our course ran over for about 30 extra minutes because we had a large class, so be prepared to potentially leave a bit late.
