Nice modest little range and store, priced right and well kept. Definitely will go back again.

I really love this place was very inexpensive and I had a great time. I was able to shoot multiple weapons and get plenty of practice.

The "Elder Farts" as some reviews state are Vets, they work there also. So the inconvenience of a few benches being used by a few Vets who work on precision shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor and keep an eye out for unsafe idiots is better then a few gang bangers playing gangster anthems and fast fires. Try talking to people, rather then taking out your passive aggressive problem on a yelp review. If your lazy and can't walk a few benches down, not the place for you. Respect your Elders. read more

I agree with Darren G. There is a group of elder farts who park a rested rifle on a bench and hog a shooting lane. The range supervision allows it. They sit around a compare farts, aches, pains, and gossip. If they aren't there to use the facilities for shooting maybe they should hang out at the senior center. Most of those offer metamucil, square dancing, and euchre. read more

This is the nicest range I have ever been too. The range officials are great. I didn't get uncomfortable and leave. I don't go shooting at a range too often because, most ranges everyone is running around flagging each other. Not here! I will be shooting here as often as I can afford to. read more

Spring Valley is open Wednesday thru Sunday . Nice upgrades ! a few pic's . Can't wait to make a full day of it . Wooden target holders are provided along with tape if you don't use the self sticking type . 30 shooting positions at the 100 yard side . Didn't get numbers for the 50 and 25 yard range , but appeared to be sufficient . read more

I have never had an issue at this range. Looking at some of the negative comments I find it more likely that the out of state people posting negative comments haven't actually never been to this range. As for locals who are throwing out personal attacks on employees its just a tasteless act. Something tells me its more of a personal issue and nothing to do with the conduct of the range employees. Maybe the people complaining showed poor gun safety and didn't like being called out or were possibly asked to leave the range and that's where this hatred stems from. read more

I don't care about former Range NCO, I was at the Alamo, I shot liberty vallance between farts and anything else trashing or bragging others. What are the operational hours ? read more

I really like the range WHEN IT IS OPEN!!! It closed on 01Sep18, and is STILL CLOSED. The original estimate was for eight months. Here it is 14 months later and it is STILL CLOSED. I just visited the site and the contractor still has so very much to do. I'll be surprised (well, not really) if it is open by the new year! How can rain delays of two months push a deadline out four months? Typical general contractor BS. Drag out a project for as long as possible, complain about cost overruns, and missed deadlines. When I visited the site, I saw 2 guys standing around for every guy working. The weather has been optimal for the past two months, with lots of sunshine and decent weather, but no faster headway has been made. This is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. read more

The only drawback to this range..... its outside only. I drive 30 minutes to this range past multiple closer indoor ranges. You cant beat the price of unlimited shooting all year for $25. Someone posted that the rangemasters are mean grumpy old men NOT TRUE! (just old). Being a younger shooter typically i am treated like a stupid child. Here they are usually really helpful and dont try to make me feel stupid, they just make sure i have targets and ear plugs in case i didnt bring any which is nice that they have those when i take friends out there. You can literally shoot anything with the facilities they have. read more

This is the closest state range to Cincinnati, and is also the cheapest. It only costs $5 for a day pass, or $25 for a year pass! You can get the pass from the sporting/wildlife section at any Walmart. When you consider that most places charge like $10/half hour to shoot, you really can't beat this place in terms of cost. Also, in terms of safety, this place has RSOs (range safety officers) patrolling the lanes to make sure people don't do anything stupid. They have a 50 yard range for pistols and rifles, as well as a 100 yard range for rifles. There is also a clay shooting area for shotguns, and an archery range. This range is all outdoors, which makes for a nice day outside. Make sure to bring your own food, and drinks as there is none at this facility. Usually they have free targets as well. They will provide the board on which to tape your target as well as clothes line pins to put them up. Make sure to read the signs posted and familiarize yourself with the rules of the range. There is a line you must step behind when they call "cease fire" so that everyone can check their targets and put new ones up. There is an office here, but you cannot buy the passes here. They can only give information. The only bad thing about the place is that it is in the middle of nowhere. Most people in the Cincinnati area will have to drive an hour or more to find the place, and it is easy to get loss so make sure you use your navigation! read more

I am a retired army infantry senior NCO and I know how a range should be conducted and the staff at SV is top notch. My wife and I shoot a few times a year and our first visit to SV was very enjoyable. When we arrived we informed the range staff that it was our first time there and they took us outside and gave a very thorough briefing of range safety rules and capabilities. I noticed they were there helping anyone struggling to zero and watching to ensure safety. I found the staff to be very friendly and they enjoyed assisting anyone who needed or wanted help. I have not been back since they closed to remodel but I can't wait for them to reopen and I hope we never lose this range or the team of folks running it. read more

I live about 10 miles from this place and I've been twice over the past 3 months. Both times I've been greeted by the prototypical 'grumpy old men' who are too busy or who could care less about people who come here new and don't understand the rules of this range - rude jerks...period. I cannot stand people like this - just go away, retire, sit in your recliner and bitch at the world but don't actually interact with other people. I absolutely hate that this range is so close to my house, as I'd love to actually go there and use the range; but I can't get over the complete jerks who work there. While it's cheap and for me convenient...I recommend staying away and trying any other option you have. By the way, on weekends it's so crowded you can't get a spot to shoot. This place totally bites, I completely disagree with the other review posted. read more

I have been going to the range for several years and yes the guys that work there can get a little gruff especially when they deal with people that do not read the safety rules and follow them. I have seen some pretty stupid people trying to shoot weapons there and have figured out those are also the ones that shoot horses and cows for deer during the season. The guys are well versed in reloading and issues with guns I had a bolt issue a few years back and they were wonderful in the help and advice they gave. Also if you respect the people there that are considered the experts IE: Range Officer (RSO} you will find that you get respect in return. For the individual that gave them the poor rating my bet is you have little to no experience with guns and definitely not prior military or you would know what a real jerk RSO is, remember these guys are pretty much responsible if some one gets shot or killed on the range and they take it seriously. Contrary to popular belief guns are tools not toys. My only complaint about the entire state range program is the longest range available is 100 yd. It would be great to get a couple of 300 - 500 yd ranges for the long range shooters. Apart from that where else can you go with as many shooting options as offered by the State program for $25 a year pass. read more
