Deer Lick Park offers a place for my fur babies to run freely! I am glad it is here. I like that they have water available and depending on the day and time, it is likely for them to have a fur friend to play with. The other dog owners are usually very nice and monitor their dogs. I have not had any issues. Sometimes, they have no dog bags available to clean up after your dogs when they relieve themselves, so I tend to bring a few of my own just in case. The dog park is behind the animal shelter near the skate park and not on the side where the recreational center is located. I like that the gates are easy to access but also close together and divided by small dog and large dog areas. If you are alone or if you come when it is less dogs out, the options available make it easier to keep the dogs safe or separated if needed. Deer Lick Park also offers recreational activities. We participated in basketball and it was nice to see this facility in action for group pictures and games. The staff is friendly and responsive and this park offers a nice place for exercise and community engagement. I also remember attending a Zumba party here many years ago. It's a good sized dog park but as you can see it's mostly just flat open field with a few trees tucked away up in a corner. The problem with that is that it gets extremely muddy when it rains except up where the trees are because the leaves form a very natural barrier. But we wouldn't want that now would we. Both parks have a poop bag dispenser and trash can as well as an access spot for water. Nice double-gated concrete entry area with a bench on that as well as both parts have a couple benches up in the trees. But they have no shade or shelter structure? You have to park a little distance away and it is a bit of a walk uphill but, well, I probably personally wouldn't make it again for the dog park read more

This is a great public park that is well maintained with nice tennis courts, playground, walking path, lake with a fountain, and recreation fields (baseball/football). Quiet and peaceful. Lots of people walking dogs. Need to tell myself to spend more time here. read more

I first found out about this park from a co-worker that has a dog that she takes walking with her. My dog needs plenty of exercise so when I am spending the week or so in Douglas County I like to bring my dog here. You have an array of things that you and your family can do here. Bocce, Mini Golf, Skateboarding, Tennis, Soccer, Horseshoe pits are just to name a few things. i also understand they have some gardening courses as well. I gave this park a 3 Star because I have been to the Dog Park a few times and there have been aggressive dogs there and I have heard people complain that there pets have been attacked. I do not understand why the park does not have some one there to monitor what is going on at the park if so many people are complaining. I have stopped bringing my dog here but my ex and I will some times play as if I can play tennis. :) He plays I yell get the ball closer to where I am man! LOLz! Came with here with a few dear (see what I did there?) friends of ours for a much needed day outside in some warmer weather. It was a perfect day to be enjoying such a beautiful park just outside of Atlanta proper and it was nice to see so many others taking advantage of it as well. We came to play a quick 18 of disc golf mainly. The course is awesome and quite challenging at times. It was great to see that the tee boxes, baskets, and areas of approach are kept rather well by the park maintenance. For the most part, all of the holes have maps and cement tee boxes. Also, the course has been rotated in the recent past and what was hole #8 is now #1. I greatly enjoyed our round. Especially the drive on hole #9! It's a good one for distance. The park also has all other amenities you could want -- duck pond, playgrounds, baseball fields, and places to walk. I love this park. Can't wait to come back for a round again! read more

I hate when the government runs anything because we have to give them our tax dollars...no matter how bad the service is that they provide. So any responsibility is treated like a nuisance especially the ones they consider unnecessary. For them the dog park falls in the unnecessary category. The dog park closed this past Friday for maintenance. They absolutely did NOTHING. read more

I only stayed for a while, just long enough to walk around the loop and find out from other park guests that there is no dog park. I repeat, there is no dog park! I think the dog parks were removed/paved over recently. There are instead many flat tops for sports games and tennis and the like. It's not a great park for esploring nature, but it looks great for walking around a tranquil lake and playing ball out in the sun. read more

My friend threw his kid a birthday party here. The park is quite big with lots of ball fields, pavilions, and shady areas. You can bring your dog if it's on a leash, but no alcohol is allowed in the park. read more

I am a semi-frequent visitor to the dog park portion of this facility. Every spring, it's the same old story regarding getting the water turned back on in the fenced dog areas. I called 3 weeks ago and asked when they planned to do this. The reply "the weather forecast calls for some cold weather next week, we'll get the water back on the following week." First clue: it has to be BELOW FREEZING for there to be a problem with the water lines. I visited there today and found that not only was the water still turned off, but one of the gate latches is broken and the bagged dog waste is overflowing the trash container. Last year, at my own expense, I replaced the faucets on the water lines and provided galvanized metal containers to hold water for the dogs. This year, one of the "water fountains" has a leak. (I used my own meter tool to temporarily turn on the water). The grass is infrequently cut. the excuse is the difficulty due to the large pieces of wood-----which was dumped and eventually spread by the maintenance people. Any maintenance done there seems to be done with a half hearted effort. Who's ugly sister do you have to date to get anything done? Regarding the review from Kimberly S.: Aggressive dogs are infrequent and usually don't return. Unfortunately, stories of some dog attach get repeated for months or even years after the incident occurred. read more

Very nice park! My family enjoys comming here. Skate park is awesome when it's not to crowded.
