September 14, 2020 This park seems to have it all. An 18 hole Disc golf course, a splash pad (not operational during COVID 19, a nice play ground, a few party gazebos where birthdays were being held. Even if you don't want to play disc golf, you can still enjoy a nice walk following the course trying to find the next T-offs can be fun and challenging. When we arrived we let our kiddo loose on the playground and she had so much fun checking everything out. Next we played the front 9 of the course. The first Tee is down the hill, near the double bridge, not next to the parking lot, which presently is the 4th Tee on the front 9. This course is not stroller friendly. Not having played for at least a year, I was out of practice but I did manage to lead despite Nicole's handicap. I really liked how the course was laid out, and the vegetation isn't so thick that you can't find your disk which landed in a few thick bushes. We concluded our visit with some more time on the playground. All of us were sweaty and ready to head for refreshments. I'd like this place a whole lot more with the splash pad working. Can't wait to come back to play the back 9 of the course too. read more

They have disc golf here. It is a really fun course with hills and trees and lots of fun terrain! The course is well marked and easy to follow. The first hole is not located in the parking lot. That is hole 4. We played it first then skipped it when we went through. The park has a really nice playground and a few picnic shelters. Our daughter loved the playground, there are two big units of toys, and swings. Mulch is on the ground to cushion any falls. It is clean and well kept. There may have been a drug dealer there loudly saying "do you want a hit" not sure if he was joking with his buddy or talking to me.... I ignored the comment as I don't do drugs. Just say no! But go play frisbee golf, it works better than drugs for a fun time. read more

Having a man unnecessarily and continuously yell aggressive sentiments to your group can definitely sully a first visit to Perkerson Park. What a shame since it seems like a spacious woodsy park that isn't too crowded. No trouble parking. Bathrooms were locked. Amenities include a disc golf course, fields and courts, a playground, a splash pad, and pavilions. read more

I believe we were at the end of the park where we went fishing by the creek. The park & it's surrounding Splashpad, Disc Golf Course & Playground/Picnic areas are well kept. A relaxing backdrop with a rock-lined stream & hilly terrain. The park is dog friendly & hosts different events throughout the year. read more

My workplace organized a volunteer event here to clean up the park a bit. You know, hack out some underbrush and pick up some litter since the city's budget cuts probably didn't allow for the city to pay for it. I was wise enough to steer clear of the poison ivy, but I did hop down in the creek area and pick up after litter bugs, renewing my ire for people who throw their trash around. The park is in a neighborhood that has, uhh, seen it's share of ups and downs, but the park itself was really nice. (Better after we left, of course.) It's pretty large (50 acres) and of course, very green. (Most of it not-poisonous, I assure you.) And it has the aforementioned creek running through it, which is very pretty. It has some baseball fields and tennis courts and playground equipment and cookout pavilions, so there is something for everybody. The bathrooms are about what you'd expect for a city park, but I've seen sketchier. At least they have them. read more

Best known for the ultimate frisbee course and the homeless who hang out here, I like to visit the park for nature walks. There are often a lot of kids on the playgrounds and sometimes folks have parties at the grilling areas and picnic tables. If you wander from these things, you'll bump into frisbee folks, so watch out for discs flying through the air. There's a nice creek that runs through the park, plenty of green space with empty grassy areas, and then the woods, which are what keep me coming back. There are wild flowers and mushrooms and squirrels, and if you miss the living in the suburbs like I sometimes do, this is an okay (though not always peaceful) place to get your green fix. There's always been ample parking when I've gone. read more

I went to Perkerson Park for an event during Labor Day Weekend called "House In The Park". It was a BLAST. It's kind of reminicent of Jazz in the Park during Memorical Day Weekend but with house music and dancing. There was a pit pavilion in the middle of the park that basically turned into a huge dance floor where everyone had a good time. There are a few street vendors and food stands but not many. Most people brought their own food. The best part is that you can bring liquor unlike Piedmont (or at least we did =). The crowd is very mixed which I loved. The park itself is hilly, spacious, and quaint. Nothing to overdone or fancy. The park is located in Southwest Atlanta. I felt safe but as with all parts of Atlanta, exercise caution. The only problems were that parking was hard to find and the bathroom lines were LONG. Neither of these would be a problem if it were a normal park afternoon rather than an insane "house" party. read more

I would never have found Perkerson Park had it not been for one of my singles leagues, Peach Tennis. This is actually located only about 10 minutes from where I live in Castleberry Hill. It is in a very wooded area with a beautiful playground and park. I was surprised and grateful for the allure of the park. They have 6 tennis courts that are in good condition. I have never had a problem getting a court here which is great. My reason for only 3 stars is this: It is in a sketchy, though pretty, part of the city... For instance, I was hitting with a girl friend and, after watching a couple just sit in their van for over thirty minutes in the parking lot, we decided to cut our tennis short. It was getting dark and after my car had been broken in to about 2 months ago, I am not about to spend another $1800 to get my top replaced, not to mention having to purchase another GPS. So, go ahead and check this place out during the day. Just know at night you most likely will be nervous (at least I was). Happy tennis playing and good luck!!! read more

I've been meaning to come here for awhile now, given my mission of exploring all of SW Atl, and this lovely September Saturday seemed like the perfect day! We loaded up the dogs, grabbed a sub from Publix, and headed over to Capitol View! This is a big park, so I'm not sure how much of it we actually saw. We kept running into off-leash dogs and having to backtrack, so that limited our exploring. There was a large, flat area of grass, shaded by tall trees, where we had our lunch. We ended up in the path of some frisbee golfers, but it all worked out OK. Then we went walking. There's a creek with bridges over it, a splash pad, playground for kids, pavilions and picnic tables with grills/firepits, and tennis courts. All in all the park is very nice. It's not as built out as Piedmont is, but it was clean. And it seemed perfectly safe to us. Everyone else there was doing the same thing we were: enjoying a beautiful day in the A, and in a much less crowded park than many of the better known ones! read more

One of the better, and lesser known, parks in the city. The upper area has a track, work out equipment, basketball court and several baseball diamonds which are pretty nice. Nice walk for dogs around the outside of the park as well as some great tennis courts and relativity new play ground. Just don't be there after dark! read more

UPDATE: I have played the disc golf course several times since my last review and I must say that it has dramatically improved. The course is now permanently setup with metal baskets. Much of the debris and vegetation has been cleared. There are some really nice holes on this course. I've talked with some of the guys who work on the course and have even been out to help with the work. I think this course will continue to improve over the next year or so. I definitely recommend checking it out! read more

Cute little park and an absolutely beautiful neighborhood....Captiol View. Tall, pre civil war trees, tennis courts, basketball courts, and the beautiful bungalows across the street make Perkerson Park worth the time it takes to get here and it's the best kept secret in Atlanta. It has picnic tables and barbecue grills and pits too. No need to feel unsafe here. read more

I go to this park all the time as I live half a mile away. It is over 80 acres with baseball, tennis, basketball, playground and pavilion facilities. I like going to the back of the park where the stream is to have a quiet nature moment. I wish there were more events here, as it is a well kept secret. read more

Perkerson park is amazing! Always clean and manicured. They host all kinds of events on the weekends..which being walking distance from there..is awesome.. my dogs love it there too! read more

Great park, safe and close by. My mother takes the children here weekly and they always have a ball. We've been to a couple concerts and always had a great time the acoustics in the park are great. Love this park. read more
