The park is just down the street from the Westchester Elementary School. This is a passive four acre park. You won't find a playground. It is very pretty however as it is situated around a lake. Park amenities include picnic tables, a paved walking trail next to the lake, grills, benches, and an open play area. Adjacent to the park is the Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park. The dog park has restrooms shared with Westchester Park. This park is the perfect place for people and their canine companions to get exercise and fresh air. I saw several joggers during my visit. Just make sure to always stay on the path if you are walking your dog. As with any open body of water in Florida you never know if there is an alligator present. Also be on the lookout for coyotes as there were several signs at the dog park warning about those as well. You have to love Florida. Even when you are in the middle of a neighborhood, the wild is always waiting to creep in.

You'd never know it was here -- right along the intracoastal waterway -- unless you lived in this neighborhood. It's not the easiest to find as it's set back amongst the expensive homes, boats, marinas, and winding streets of Lighthouse Point. But it's well worth a trip to find it. There's not that much man made entertainment here -- no bbq grills or tennis courts or basketball nets or swing sets. What it does have is natural beauty and spectacular water views. There's a paved path to the middle and around the edge as well as some sandy paths. There are several spaces to park your car just outside the fence. Inside the fence is a bike rack. To the left of the entrance is the butterfly garden. And yes, we did see some colorful orange butterflies when we went -- but they were too fast (or shy?) for pictures. There are flowers -- yellow ones (sorry I don't know their name) and a number of green ones planted to attract the flying beauties. To the right of the entrance is a lovely large white Jasmine flowering bush. Heavenly scented. Inside the park are wide green expanses under the trees and several tented pavilions where you can rest and read or just contemplate nature. There is a bat house on a tall pole -- the bats eat mosquitos and are encouraged to visit, but I doubt there's one in residence. There was an empty bird house high up on a tree, too. There is an exercise area with instructions telling you what to do. But no one was using it. There's a sandy area with many coconut palms (and coconuts on the ground) and sea grape bushes that lead right down along the water. You could even dip a toe in if you're adventurous -- or just pull up a towel and sun bathe. In any case, along the water you get to see all the sail and speed boats passing by. And hear a soft lap as the water meets the shore. Such a nice respite from the hubbub noise of civilization. It was a welcome quiet space to rest and relax -- to get away and enjoy Mother Nature. So, come here -- and make every day Earth Day!

The park is a small area on a lake with native trees and plants. Park amenities include a small pavilion, fenced in playground, and benches. The grand royal Poinciana tree was in full bloom today. The much larger Quiet Waters park with many more amenities is just a few blocks north. Trailhead Park connects to the Trailhead Linear Park which runs along the west side of Powerline Road, roughly between SW 10th Street and Green Road. On one side you have the lake and the on the other side is Powerline Rd. The linear trail provides a safe place to walk, run, or ride a bike.

It's listed as a city park but is actually leased to the city by the Florida Inland Navigation District. You can read the entry sign that I photographed for more info on this. In any case, you won't really care either way who owns it or when it was founded, etc. etc., as you will love this place. There is easy free parking right when you enter after passing through a residential area of town. And there are a lot of open well-groomed grassy areas as well as tree shaded sections. For the active folks, there are a series of exercise suggestions with instructions on signs all grouped in one area and another set of metal exercise enablers throughout the park along the trail. For the children there are swings, and a playground that is designated for those 12 and under. We also saw a lot of dog walkers (there's plastic bags for clean up). For those less energetic, you can enjoy sitting on a park bench and watching the squirrels or taking a leisure stroll along the paved path. There are benches to rest at that are spaced out on the path periodically. On the east end of park is the intracoastal waterway and a small beach. There are a couple benches nearby here as well. We came upon a group of spring breakers who were enjoying the sunshine, tossing a football around, and fishing. You can even enter the water at a shallow area here. We took a short stroll (it's a small beach) to look at the crabs and other sea life. A young gal and her mom were at the beach too -- she was making sand "snowballs"! Like I said the weather was glorious. Sunny but with low humidity and a slight breeze off the water. We watched the boats go up and down and the bridge and just enjoyed a moment of what South Florida does best. We had errands to do, but we just didn't want to leave. We will be back.

This park has potential. A nice grass area for open field play. A nice covered playground with a…read morekids Zipline. A water splash pad area. A loop for walking and running or even bike riding. A big lake to fish in, including a dock/pier. Just enough parking unless it's busy though. They also have a huge play area where all the kids can play and mingle to keep themselves busy, plus a Lovely lake view . I believe they have park supervision and an indoor restroom that looks like it's cleaned daily. The lake view looks good enough to go fishing I'm not 100% sure if fishing is aloud but it was also a pier that you can walk out on closer to the water . I wish i explored more of this park to check out the kinda trail they have but I'll probably go again another time.

The neighborhood is mainly made up of single family homes built from the 1950's to the 90's. Hunter Manor's Park is an 8.4 acre park that will soon be bordered on the east by a new 9 acre, 59 home residential development by homebuilder D.R. Horton. Park amenities include pavilion shelters, picnic areas, grills, benches, restrooms, an exercise path with fitness stations, tennis courts, a covered playground, basketball, handball, exercise area, and volley ball court. The park is often used to host community events. The next one is a Caribbean Festival on October 14th from 5 to 10 PM. Hunters Manor Park is a well maintained park, ideal for taking the kids to play, exercise, or having a picnic.

At the way north end of town almost touching Boca Raton is a rural side of Coconut Creek. You drive down 74th which is a street lined by large house lots and horse farms. Based on the tarps I saw, Coconut Creek code enforcement doesn't know about this area either. I saw tarps and trailers that would never fly in my neighborhood. Halfway down the street is the 5 acre Oak Trails Park. Dedicated on March 4, 2015, it is one of Coconut Creek's newest parks. The land for the park was purchased with money from the Broward County Board of County Commissioners through the Safe Parks and Land Preservation Bond Program. The park is mainly a large open green space for play. It is ringed by a paved walking/ jogging trail with exercise stations. Parts of the trail go through the woods making it shaded and cool. The back of the park abuts a horse farm where I made some new friends. I had the whole park to myself. I don't imagine too many people even know about it. It is always fun to explore and discover something new in my town. A big thumbs up for the beautiful Oak Trails Park.

Located on the east side of Cypress Road, I can't tell you how many hundreds of times, I've driven by without stopping. And I had no idea that it was as expansive. Coming from the south, you need to watch carefully as there is only one entrance and one exit from the parking lot. There's ample parking spaces. In addition to separate tennis courts, and 2 handball courts/tennis backboard walls, there is a nice play area. The children's playground has swings and covered slides and is mulched to protect the little ones. The large grassy areas are quite nice. A walking (running?) path goes around the perimeter. There are bathroom facilities, too. The one covered pavilion has seating. There are benches nearby and a bbq grill. The pavilion can be rented from the city for an event. It was relatively quiet on weekday. One gal practicing her tennis swings; another couple playing tennis; one person getting in their "steps"; and a guy eating his lunch on a bench at the pavilion. If I lived nearby and/or had young kids, I'd be here everyday.

Sgt. Kip A. Jacoby Park is named after a longtime Pompano resident who lost his life on June 28,…read more2005 in Afghanistan during the Operation Red Wings. He was a flight engineer on Turbine 33 that was shot down by a rocket propelled grenade. The movie Lone Survivor depicts the operation. In honor of his sacrifice Pompano Beach decided in 2015 to rename Norwood Pines Park the Sgt. Kip A. Jacoby Park. The park was a place that he loved to skateboard. The park is 4.7 acres and has many large shade trees, There is a large picnic pavilion, bathrooms, tennis courts, grills, a playground, and two handball courts. I had a nice stroll on the paved walking trail that runs the perimeter of the park. The park is bordered by neighborhood homes. On the evening I visited friends were gathering in the pavilion and children were playing on the playground. The many large trees offer a home to the birds in the park. This is a lovely spot to exercise or just sit and relax. It now serves as a memorial to a Pompano Beach resident who made the ultimate sacrifice. I think that it is really nice that Pompano Beach chose to honor their hero with a park named for him.
